I know you were replying to jovan, that had nothing to do with what I said... My point was that what you said makes zero sense. Take 12 seconds and proofread your comments before hitting Submit is all I'm saying. This isn't a private messaging site, this is a public forum, so even when you are replying to someone else you have to know that other's will come along and read your post, perhaps in hope of getting information for a question they have or a problem they are trying to solve. That's one of the main points of public forum boards like this is that the conversations are available for others to read at a later date. Anybody reading your comment, even after reading the entire thread (which I did) will have no clue what in the heck you are talking about... Good for jovan if he/she understood it, but it might as well be in a foreign language...

your phone is stuffed, first of all you flashed the wrong PIT and firmware for the wrong phone the one you flashed is for Galaxy S not S2, you can try the usb jib but 99% sure it wont work, youll have to send it back to samsung or get it repaired at a repair center

You flashed galaxy S software, not galaxy s2. Different software for different hardware.

You flashed the wrong software and the wrong partition table to it... You should've read up on the links you gave in your first post before flashing. Second if you'd read up on the flashing instructions on this site you would've known not to use a pit file unless absolutely necesary. And finaly when you encounter a file named s1_odin_20100512.pit which clearly has S1 (meaning Galaxy S1) and the date 12-05-2010 (which is before the S2 was even announced) that should've made you a little suspecious as to whether you had the right files.
You can send the phone to Smasung and hope they don't find out what happened. If they don't they'll repair it for free, if they do you're screwd and you'll have to pay for the repair.
ok mate,
u have 1 of 2 options:
1- u need to send it back for the service centre
2- send it for a JTAG service close to ur place

Why didn't you actually study everything properly before doing anything like this to a top of the market phone?

Flashing should be a once a in blue thing, this phone is way to fast, does not need at ALL any speed enhancements, you Should fine just experimenting apps. I highly encourage everyone not to flash daily, enjoy what you have. don't loose $800 for nothing or have regrets.

I'm pretty sure our devices are idiot proof unless you go about doing absolutely absurd things like flashing the wrong files and repartitioning your device with a table of an other device. If the people would just read the risk is minimal. Like this OP who did his research AFTER bricking, if only he did it before hand. And what gets me the most, in 2 of the 3 threads he links to the answer is present. Wrong pit file need JTAG programming. But yet again instead of reading through the threads he opts to start yet another thread...

Looks like you may be charging that thing for a while, then. Seems that even the T-Mobile version is subject to the plague that is the locked bootloader for right now. Hopefully someone can figure something out or Samsung releases something along the lines of HTC's bootloader unlock for us. For once, the Snapdragon appears to be more crippled than the Exynos.
Yeah. I wouldn't count on anything any time soon. Not days, not weeks....

I understand everyone being upset about the latest development but some need to calm down a bit. Not saying it's anyone in this thread though some comments are a bit over the top. Maybe some people are new around here or others have the memory of a goldfish but this isn't' the first time this has happened to a device. There are a multitude of ways around this. Motorola who is known for locking bootloaders with almost a hatred for consumers, was defeated with the combined effort of many people on XDA. They managed to find the key to unlock the bootloader and it was smooth sailing from there.
Will we obtain the key? Quite possibly. we'll either do it the hard way and get lucky running a program on multiple computers and phones to decrypt it. The other option is that it'll be leaked by an internal source (probably the most likely). Samsung might even give us a dev program to unlock it similar to HTC. The fact is Samsung doesn't want a large customer base to be this unhappy. We are the most influential consumer base as well. Think of all the changes and additions to Android over the past few years. Changes that started here first and were adopted by manufacturers. They use us and in a way, need us to show them what people want. Let's not forget that XDA is the most influential Android site on the net. If Samsung gets snuffed here badly it'll spread very quickly.
TL;DR It'll happen one way or another guys. Chill out. May not be in the time frame we're use to these days (remember waiting weeks to months for root back in the day?) but it will happen. focus on pressuring those who can exact change into doing so. For the ones capable of it you should focus on ways around this.
I for one am not worried. I had a Motorola Defy that had a locked bootloader. By the time I had bought the phone though it had been out for a few months and people had found a way to put custom roms on it so I was happy.

Roger that. I guess this can be closed then. Just outta curiosity, do you know if this is going to be the new norm? I'm on an international S7 Edge so it doesn't currently affect me, but I would like to have my wifi calling back. Have a brand new TMO S7 Edge just getting dusty.

More than likely, yes, it will be the new norm.
There is an incredibly small chance that Samsung will go back to sending Tmo phones with unlockable bootloaders, but I would definitely not hold my breath. This is assuming that John Legere and Tmo actually did ask Samsung for an unlock like they said they did, and that Samsung decides to go back to how they used to ship the phones. Both of these scenarios are pretty unlikely by themselves, and even less so together.

I'm sure they discussed it. It was likely shot down as soon as it was brought up though.
I'd bet that even if we were to ask today they'd say "We're still working on it. These things take time."
I'd bet that even two years from now they'll say the same thing too because they don't want the negative publicity. Any response starting with an "Unfortunately" won't ever be in our benefit which is all that they'll be responding with if we were to get any straight forward answer at all.
Samsung is grossly underestimating the willpower and determination of their customers. We were determined to get root and now we have it! Samsung should see that, be smart about it and decide to give us what we want. Meanwhile, if I let someone check out my (rooted) S7 Edge and let them notice how hot it is, how much the battery life sucks and how bad the lag is on most games (all due to the engineering kernel that we're forced to use) then I'd doubt very seriously that most people would want to get it. So my way of thinking is that they might as well let us flash unsigned kernels to at the very least let the phone run like normal. I've awed more people with my phone before rooting than after. I've actually shown it to my supervisor and she responded, "Why the Hell is it so hot?" I'm guessing she's not going to be upgrading now.

I really doubt any of this will affect Samsungs decision to unlock. This is a great device stock and each who drops Samsung 2 will buy their devices. There is nothing out there that would persuade me to root even though TEKHD has a custom rom and our device has a method to root. Just my 2cents

Samsung won't be releasing an unlock unless it could positively effect their assets. Right now, their assets are Samsung Pay and Knox. Both of which require a secured bootloader to work. By releasing an unlocked bootloader or an method to unlock would do nothing positive for those assets. Truth is, there is nothing to gain for Samsung to release the bootloader for us so they won't be doing it. I'm certain of it.

Because Samsung has probably the best device they've ever made if not the best device currently on the market
Because Samsung S7/Edge devices are outselling the iPhone 6S/Plus
Because 99.99999% of people don't know what a bootloader unlock is, much less care about having it
Because Samsung Pay
Because a secure device enables government and corporate contracts
Because Samsung is making a ton of $$$ on these devices as they are
Because Samsung is totally OK with losing a small handful of people to HTC/Nexus devices when they can capture a much more lucrative market with a more secure device
There are likely many more reasons, but hopefully that answers why we don't have an unlocked bootloader and why we will never have an unlocked bootloader.

No custom recovery. We can flash with Flashfire though. Only problem is that if something doesn't work right then you'll have to restore with Odin since we can't restore with a recovery and can only access Flashfire after the phone has already booted.

UK user here
do it, like all my other samsung phones the first thing i do when i unbox it is flash a custom rom
the only thing it will bugger up is Knox so stuff like secure folder, samsung pass, samsung pay etc wont work and of course your samsung warranty will be voided.
They were way too late with samsung Pay in the UK for me to wait especially when Android Pay is already out and easily handled with magisk ( i use it daily )
Enjoy
For the camera mod alone I wouldn't. It's irreversible. How important YouTube adaway is to you is your decision. I don't watch videos on my phone so...
Again, you can always root if something you really need comes along. But you can never go back. So if you're asking the question I'm inclined to say no.
Be aware if you are on Vodafone and have insurance rooting will invalidate any claims you make.i have rooted every phone I have owned
.........except my s8. I love her to much to invalidate her warranty by tripping Knox lol
Phone bought 2nd hand
So can't really take out insurance .
I think root is a no no and XDA should be removed from cyberspace or something.
Now seriously... If you want an honest answer this is not the place to ask. What answer you expect on XDA except "go for it"? Of course any XDA user would tell you to root your phone. At the end of the day that's why we are here (on XDA). Because we want to break the "OEMs chains". And first step to do that is rooting.

It depends. I've been on xda for years, and advised against rooting. I too root all my phones to get rid of not needed apps and backups. But to be honest, the value for root on the S8 just isn't there atm. No aosp, xposed is irrelevant... As said, only root if there is a specific thing you need, not just because.
Also, even with Samsungs software I don't feel the need for flashing roms anymore like back in the 4.x and back days. Between Nova launcher, substratum and the scaled back styling of Samsungs stock Rom, aosp becomes less and less needed...

Hi guys, i am just wondering if anyone manages to flash the combination firware on a s10plus?
Why exactly do you want to flash a combo firmware on a S10+?

To change the csc of the phone.
of course... theres special way and files needed but i cant share unfortunately since not my files/method..
i also managed to get system privs already.. super easy!
No offense but you are like a teenager teasing a toddler with candy. If root is possible and so many people want it why not share? After we do live in the information age

im sorry? not sure where you saw that it was rooted? I have been working day in and day out looking for exploits to try and root it since it launched.. im talking 100s of hours.. theres no point in releasing something that A. isnt root. and B. that samsung can go and patch before it becomes anything remotely useful.
to add, I have friends n fellow devs i have worked countless hours with for years.. if they share something with me and ask i dont release it then I am not going to burn bridges and go against them, that would be very crappy for someone to do.. we trust eachother and if anything comes of it we work it out the best we can as we have released a high number of things to xda over the years including root on s8 s8+ n8 n9 to name a few so not sure y u r upset..
I was simply showing it is possible and has been done.. i figure its better to kno its possible then to have no hope whatsoever..
rant over.
