I'm having random reboots. I'm running 5.1.1 rooted but stock rom. Sometimes it's 12 hours until a reboot, other times it's a week or more, but I get no indication that it reboots, I just find my phone at the screen waiting for the encryption password to boot up, missing who knows how many calls.
Any idea how I can fix this issue? It randomly developed in the past month without any changes on my end.
Thanks!

I have a priv which reboots sometimes 50 times a day, seems to be when the back middle right when holding it screen forward gets really hot. I turned on devel mode with the support personnel and systemui is all that's peaking the cpu when it freezes and then reboots.
same with safe mode, reboots too.
I am backing everything up on a new phone before I factory reset but I doubt that's going to help if safemode random reboots too.
anyone had this issue recently?

Have you recently upgraded your phone OTA (over the air) from software update in phone ?
Marshmallow upgrade.

flash using autoloader, even after completed do a factory reset from device
For some reason I'm getting random reboots on overclocked kernels. My phone freezes for a couple of seconds, then reboots.
And everytime my phone reboots (manual or not) the OnePlus logo bootloops for about 2 times before showing the bootanimation.
I'd gladly provide you with logs. But I read somewhere that they get deleted after reboot.
*EDIT*
I think I solved it. Read my reply underneath.
Alright, so I'm gonna try coming up with a solution for this.
I switched to a stock kernel, and I continued getting the reboots. But they were muuuch less frequent. So it's obviously related to my phone, and not the kernel.
So what I'm gonna try to do is follow this thread: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/battery-problem-fix.240256/
I'm gonna do it for 3 cycles. If it works, I'll update this post (might need someone to remind me) If it doesn't, then I'm gonna try other things to solve it (and update this thread). But this should be the final and only solution, hopefully. I'm currently on CM13. If this doesn't work on CM13 I might flash OOS.
Anyways, I'm at the end of the first cycle. The reason I think it's the battery is because my phone would randomly reboot and if I went into recovery mode, it'd say 50%. No matter what percentage before. Or it wouldn't show any counter at all.
*EDIT*
I think this solved it
I believe the issue is because of doze. I had these reboots after I stopped using my phone for 1-2 hours (when doze kicks in) and the phone would begin rebooting every ~10 minutes. When I used doze editor to force doze to start faster I started getting reboots in 5-10 minutes and when I disabled doze there would be no problem with rebooting at all.
After the first cycle I haven't had a single reboot. Been running benchmarks on both stock and oc kernel to put the phone at 100% load and it hasn't crashed yet. I think this worked. I'm gonna report if it randomly reboots at lower battery levels.
I think you should try a non CM rom, preferably tipsy because I'm on tipsy with ben's kernel and haven't had a single random reboot in days.
After doing one cycle of this, the phone rebooted randomly once. Which I think was because of a software bug.
Been running Slim6 since yesterday. Not a reboot here either.
Hello
I'm getting 1-2 restarts almost daily, and what is consistent is that the phone will short-vibrate once, then a pause of about 8 seconds, then two quick short-vibrates in succession (about .25 sec apart) and then the phone restarts.
This can happen when in my pocket, it can happen while actively using it, can also happen when just sitting there on my desk with screen on. I haven't seen a pattern regarding app use or activity triggering the restart.
I posted a question a month ago about how people with Androids can troubleshoot restarts. There HAS to be a way (app, etc) that allows you to see crashlogs **without** rooting your phone. Yet, I got no replies here to my last post.
Is this really such a hard thing to do with Android? Please, tell me if I'm wrong and missing something completely obvious. I'm right now factory resetting my phone cause I can't figure what's causing this.
Thanks in advance for the help.
I have the some.
Any once have fix for this random reboots ?
Same problem at any moment. And sometimes it stays at a boot loop.
I have changed the firmware to a custom one and the problem persist.
Hi,
I have a S4 i9505 (Snapdragon 600) with Android 5.0.1. Still stock, no root, european version (with a spanish rom).
In the last months my S4 has suffered for many random reboots in different situations: the 2 most common are scrolling the gallery and turning on the screen (with home button or power button). But it happens also with using several app.
The screen freezes and after some seconds it reboots. After reboots works fine for a while.
Number of random reboots starting recording in june 2017:
june: 7
july: 2
august: 4
september: 7
october: 9
november: 17
december: 10
january 2018: 7
have stop recording after january as in february I started using a new phone.
I've bought a new samsung battery and I've also did a hard reset without installing any third app but there are still random reboots. What's weird is that sometimes it works fine for 1-2 weeks and sometimes it reboots 2-3 times a day with the same use.
On average it reboots 8 times a month.
For your experience is it normal for a S4 to suffer for so many reboots? How stable is your stock S4 (snapdragon 600) with Android 5.0.1? Or maybe there is an hardware problem on the logic board?
Thanks!
Up! Anyone can help?
The s4 should not be experiencing random reboots. I have had an s4 for years (now on a iPhone) and never had these reboots.
This could be an indication of a hardware problem since it's happening on a stock ROM with no third party apps.

Thanks for reply! I haven't seen your reply until now and I've already wrote a similar post in

Sorry for double post!
Anyway what drives me crazy is that sometimes it works fine for 1-2 weeks and sometimes it reboots 2-3 times a day even with same usage.
That is strange the reboot behaviour is not normal.
Not sure that you can do anything else other than changing the motherboard.

That's what I was thinking.
For example tapping repeatedly "Drawer Icon" -> "Back Button" -> "Drawer Icon" -> "Back Button" for 4-5 times freezes and reboots the phone (one time freezed and stuck, I had to remove battery). But in the last days this problem has disappeared.
As far as you know a problem that comes and disappeared like a ghost is usually related to hardware or software issue?
Only other ting would be to re-flash the latest stock ROM, factory reset, and use it for a while to see if it reboots.

You mean re-flash with Odin?
You said before you had an s4 for years and never had these reboots. So you never had a reboot, not even once a year? Is the stock rom so stable? Is the stock Samsung rom the most stable rom around?
Yes, reflash with Odin.
The most stable ROM is the stock ROM.
I may have had reboots but they were probably due to apps. I never had random reboots throughout the day on a stock ROM and I don't recall my phone suffering from random reboots. My sister-in-law and nephew have the same phone and they don't have random reboots.
This confirms me even more that probably there is an hardware problem.
Thanks a lot for your help!
Hi, I have owned a One Plus 6T for a few years now, didn't have many issues, until the last few months. I used to be on Android 10. (something) can't remember and the issues I'm about to describe happened on that version too. I have recently updated to Android 11.1.1.1 and the problems still persisted. And I've run a factory reset a few days ago and that still hasn't solved the issues. My bootloader is unlocked and I am not rooted.
Issues:
1. Phone randomly rebooting (almost like there isn't any RAM but there's over a gig spare) eg Ill be listening to spotify and suddenly phone reboots
2. Extreme System UI delay/lag and screen lag. This is the weird one. Happens at completely random times. Phone will slow down extremely to the point where nothing will be responding. For example if I click the power button to look at the lock screen the screen will just stay black for ages. Apps will not open etc. Can barely even swipe or do anything, it happens multiple times a day too.
I was wondering if anybody knew why this might be occurring, considering I am running a fresh install, unless it comes down to just bad software.
