There is a ton of information on how to adopt the sd card and it's keeping me from finding the solution to the issue I'm having.
After updating to marshmallow, my sd files moved. They are no longer in the "/SDcard/" folder. Instead they are located in a new folder under "/storage/" with random numbers as the name. I'm having problems getting bit torrent sync (and others) to work now (even though I have the correct "media_wr" permissions).
/storage/1234_5678/ links to my SD card content
/storage/emulated/0/ links to my internal storage
/storage/emulated/legacy/ is empty
/SDcard/ links to my internal storage
/storage/self/primary links to my internal storage
This seems wrong and I know Google keeps changing how the sd operates on Android but this doesn't make any sense to me.
Any help is thoroughly appreciated!

hello all. I have a t-mobile wing and I am having problems with my extra storage card. I had 3 folders on there that seem to be corrupt. The folder names have changed to these weird symbols and the folders are empty. another problem is that I can not delete these folders. Through active sync or on my wing I can not delete the folders. But I am able to continue to save new files on to the storage card.
any advice on how to delete or format my storage card and start fresh?
thanks
The best thing would probably be to format your SD card using your computer. This software might help:
http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/sd/download/sd_formatter.html
I haven't used it personally, and I can't remember the exact name of the SD Formatter Utility I've used in the past, but if you Google "SD Format Utility" you're bound to come across one that will work.
I was having a weird bug. I could create folders on the internal SD card.
I was reinstalling an emulator (Drastic) when it started throwing a strange error about not being able to create a saves folder. After some investigation I found out I could not create *any* folder at all in the internal SD. More specifically, I cannot create a folder on the root of the internal SD; the external SD and all the other folders of the internal SD work as normal. In other words, I can not create a folder on /storage/sdcard0
Now, however, my internal SD cards has simply vanished! I am unable to find it on Settings > Storage or on my card. After rebooting back and forth it is back up, however it doesn't appear on my PC (neither in Linux nor in Windows) when I connect using mass storage, nor can I still create folders. The external SD appears on Windows Explorer as normal (and I can run chkdsk on it).
Running chkdsk on the internal SD yields the following error message: "Cannot open volume for direct access." even though it is listed on the drive list.
I think I have provided all the info I can. I would be grateful for any help.
PS: Nobody on my device forum seems to have this issue, so it's not a ROM or device problem.
You tried reflashing with other ROM mate?

The problem was not the ROM. Yesterday I ran fsck on it and it fixed all issues.

Are you sure that the microsd card is ok with no damage ? I kindly advise that you can test the condition of the microsd card directly on other PCs or make use of this microsd card after inserted into a gadget like the following : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GLL40SA . If it works, you may try to format the card and process the same operation like creating folders. Remember to back up the important data anyway.
My galaxy s5 started showing memory full when all storage programs said there was about 5 gb left.
I downloaded foldermount and it said it found the issue so it was going to repair it.
Well after I rebooted. The internal sd card(phone memory) is not mounting.
When connected to the PC, it shows 128mb.
on ES FIle explorer SDCARD shows "???" and when I attempt to open it ask what file I want to open it with, but with the program storage analyzer it finds the "data" folder just fine and lists all the files and folders within it.
In the phone settings options, it can show the amount of memory being used along with the media, mp3, apps, so the Folder is still there along with all the info, it is simply not mounting properly?
Thank you.
UPDATE: I found the path of where all my files are at, but the phone is not mounting it as the internal storage?
It is located at data/media/0
UPDATE: I found the path of where all my files are at, but the phone is not mounting it as the internal storage?
It is located at data/media/0 and mnt/sdcard0 or mnt/sdcard1 are missing.
* Aside from Phone being rooted, there were no other modifications
* Phone is running on original OS(as opposed to roms or such)
*There is not an external sd card in the phone
Hi,
Looking for the best way to do this:
Pre-Marshmallow, I have lots of pics, apps and Misc. stuff on my SD card.
Now that Marshmallow has new options, how can I format the card as internal storage
and then move all the previous back. Can I just copy the cards files to my pc, then reinsert
the card in phone, format for internal storage, and then move all files back????
Any help or direction will be appreciated. Don't really want to lose all the files that
are currently on the SD card.
Ken
Yes that would be what I would do. Just make sure you copy them instead of moving in case something goes wrong during the move. That way you still have files on the card. When done copying make sure files are all on PC then delete from card
I am new to miui rom, always using stock or custom android roms.
I am using it for now as cant see a rom I like the look of but having trouble with the way it uses the storage.
I have an SD card but it appears to see the internal and SD as one whole storage location - is that true?
I download files and the inbuilt file navigator is a pain, but the storage location is internal, but i cant copy to this or from this on my PC. i have to use ES file explorer to copy the files from internal to a location on SD (as it shows as separate storage in this app) and then i can copy from // to the SD card..
how do i amend this? i just want to download and copy to PC if needed with ease.. (when i tried making the download location on the sd card the files never actually saved, after the download completed i checked the location but the file was not there).
