So yesterday I turned on wifi and it did not connect to my 5GHz wifi at all. It was on "optaining IP address" for a long time. Kept trying and couldnt get it running.
Then I tried connecting to the 2.4GHz network, it also takes some time to optain IP address but it connected.
I had this phone for a looooong time, havent changed anything on router, other phones can connect just fine. This happened all of a sudden, what can be causing it?
I was rooted with custom rom before, but now i flashed TOT and KDZ and on 100% stock but still not working. Please help

Hey guys. It's been a while but I've ran into a problem with my mytouch today when I tried to turn wifi on for the first time in forever. It just wouldnt connect. It would say aquiring ip address from [network] and then flash to disconnected, then scanning, then acquiring ip address again.
I've tried flashing a different rom, doing a nand restore to my previous rom (which had wifi working), and trying my friend's wifi and none of those worked.
Wifi stopped working after flashing this rom.

I've had issues with WPA2 networks where my phone wouldn't connect at first.
Try removing the network and starting over.
Still a no go.
Could it be a bad kernel that you've been installing?
It may also be a hardware failure (worst case scenario)
Try changing your network security type, or removing it completely.
I forgot to mention that I changed the kernal too. Still not working. I don't think (or I hope) it's not hardware failure. It's still picking up wifi signals and detecting networks. It just doesn't actually connect.
EDIT:
Wow I feel like the biggest noob now. After changing every possible thing I could think of on my phone, I restarted my router and my phone connected right after. That was really strange considering every other wireless device in the house had no trouble connecting but oh well. It works. Can't complain now. Thanks for the help guys
Same with MT3G. Can not connect any wifi now (Just 1 time after Flashing 2.2 ROM).
Don't know how to fix.
Changed 2 Froyo ROM already
same issue
Same problem here after flashing a Hero ROM like 5 months ago. Can't connect to WiFi, but I can still search and attempt to connect to a wifi network, but won't actually connect. I can still WiFi tether, which leads me to believe it's not a hardware issue...
Alright, I'm kinda having a pretty annoying issue now.
My Wildfire is flashed with OpenFire.
Since I don't have a wireless router I use connectify.
I setup my connectify network, and I try to connect to it, but my Wildfire just shows ''Obtaining IP-Address'', then it disappears, and then it says ''Obtaining IP-Address'', and this is kinda an endless loop.
Anyone have any advice on how to fix this?
I have kind of same situation where it only says Obtaining adress and nothing happens. It used to happen to me only on one specific router and when that router was reseted it was all OK. But now it happens again but resetting doesn't help. Any help?
I just plugged out the power source of my router for an entire day, and now I can connect to it and everything is working fine.
If resets of anything aren't working for you i'd suggest flashing the stock modem. This has been the case for a couple users. I'm currently stuck in the same place as you and I reflashed my own stock modem (sgs2) if anyone has any tips for me I would be VERY grateful!
I am trying to connect to home wifi which I have done in the past but it is not connecting. I am getting:
"Obtaining IP Address..." "Disconnected" and that just loops
I am on my laptop connected to the same wifi network, I got on my wife's Vibrant and connected to the wifi, what is up w/ my phone?
What suggestions do you have, this is what I tried, I was even able to connect to neighbors open network:
restart phone, turn off, "forget network", toggle wifi on/off, plug in usb,
Your lease probably expired. Did you try restarting your router?
Never had to do that in the past, but I'll try it. Guess i'll go to sleep now, maybe it fixes itself tomorrow, if not, I'll restart the router and post back the results
what type of router have you got? I have the same problem with a Zyxel router. Can't find a solution to it. Google shows lots of problems with Zyxel and HTC.
If you find a solution to your problem can you post back so I can try it out. Cheers.
MAC address filtering enabled?
Yea I also had that issue but only on cyan base roms. Sense and MIUI never had that issue. Well anyways I fixed this by flashing a new rom

Yeah I had the same problem, I just rebooted my router and it worked perfectly after that.
Reboot your router. If also not working, change you router's sig channel(1~12).
Hello all!
I have started having some strange wifi issues with my S4.
It seems different to the "usual" WIFI problem others are having. In their case their wifi keeps not turning on, dropping out etc.
In my case, my wifi is working and the phone keeps being connected to the WIFI; it shows up in the router devices list, i can 192.168.1.XXX the router form the S4, but there is no internet connection...
This started with the MGA firmware, and it happens when I come back home, and the phone logs back into the wifi network. Meanwhile an ipad is connected to the same WIFI net and is happily working without interruptions, which makes me believe the fault is with the S4..
After a half hour or so, the S4 suddenly is happily accessing the internet again.
I even flashed the wifi fix patch but no help....
I have a suspicion it might be a dhcp issue, but I've set the routers to assign the same ip to the S4 everytime.
Any ideas?
My N4 is no longer able to detect my home network. It detects my neighbor's network and several other networks, although it cannot connect to any other network. When I try to connect to a detected network, it just says "Saved". My home network is working fine and several other devices in the home are connected to it. In fact, my wife's N4 is still connecting with no issues. I have tried rebooting the phone, rebooting the router, telling the phone to forget the network, changing the channel on the router, no success. Running version 4.4.4.
Any thoughts on what might be wrong or ideas for a fix?
Thanks,
b
You haven't inadvertently switched the WiFi frequency from automatic to 5GHz have you? It's just that I had a similar problem and that's what had happened.
