Does this exist? I have talked to over 6 different stores all telling me that their unit with this description has a R16 quad core a9 and when I ask for further information they give me standard aliexpress answers like "yes its very good and a9 quad core yes!" . I want to believe in this because All of the 9 inch screens for my car have this "r16 quad core a9" or some variant I wish they would just have one with the rk3188 so I could just buy with confidence. Also they all happen to be running 4.4.2 which leads me to believe they are probably lying about the quadcore a9.
9 inch? I assume that its a car specific model. If you listed model and year you'll probably get more helpful answers.

It's probably closer to 8 but yes it's car specific here is one of em that continues to tell me they are using quad core a9 on an mstar. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/9-10...-DVD-GPS-for-Mercedes-Benz-E/32590481123.html

That seller lists a dual core cpu model as quad core though. Also not a A9.
Here's one with the correct specs in the listing at least

Wow how did you manage to find an honest seller on that site I been researching this thing for weeks and never saw this one. Only the sellers trying to say a9 quad core r16 upgraded lol. One of them actually asked me how I knew it wasn't an a9 like I did detective work or something. Anyway is there a huge noticeable difference between the r16 quad a7 and the 3188 quad a9? The a7 is supposed to be newer but slower. I just want to make sure I can navigate smoothly and there's no issues with Bluetooth etc.

Well, its running a mali 400 gpu. That's what was on a galaxy s3 and note 2 for comparison. It drove a 720p screen, so higher res. The cpu power I'd be less worried about since you probably won't be doing much heavy duty work. I'd guess it'll be fine, but can't really point to any benchmarks.

Thanks for the info i might end up just going for one of these then. I know it's a bit off topic but is it worth it running Rca outs on these units I assume they have like no preamp voltage. I'll probably run the sub for sure tho.

I've read that you can get at least 4v, but you need to adjust the gain in the factory setting. By default the pre-outs are pretty low.

those apple processors dont have a lot of performance anyway, but they work very good with the operating system, thats the reason they're quite good in benchmarks.

iOS is very well optimized for their CPU/SoCs because well, there's 1 new one a year as opposed to Android which has to work with Exynos, Snapdragon, Sony's chips, Intel's and TI's OMAP...
Not to mention, Apple pretty much has the crown when it comes to GPU performance... which in my mind is the more important thing... Quad core is all good and stuff, but like your PC, the bottleneck is usually your GPU.
I wonder how it will do against the A6X in the fourth gen iPad?

Eight cores, in a mobile processor? Balderdash! But according to EETimes, that's just what Samsung's planning on unveiling in February at the International Solid-State Circuits Conference (that sounds so exciting).
Now before you get too excited, this isn't - technically speaking - an eight-core processor. It's a dual quad-core, which is to say, a two-processor chip. The design is based on a reference architecture thought up by ARM themselves, dubbed "big.little," and is designed to combine the light-load battery life of a high-efficiency quad-core 28nm ARM A7 chip with a super-hi-po A15 processor for heavy lifting. The exact specifications, for our nerdier readers, are: 1 quad-core ARM A7 chip clocked at 1.2GHz for everyday tasks, and 1 quad-core ARM A15 chip clocked at 1.8GHz w/ 2MB L2 cache for processor-intensive tasks like video games.
ARM itself has said the "big.little" project is delivering benefits beyond those expected when the architecture was initially announced, and Samsung's chip should be the first on the market based on the concept. So yes, this will be a new Exynos of some sort.
Should you expect this chip in the Galaxy S IV (or whatever Samsung's going to call it - because that's far from a given)? It's possible, but not necessarily likely. The gap between chip announcement and tape-out (mass-production readiness) can be lengthy. With the first batch of Exynos 5 Dual devices just now hitting the market in the form of the new Samsung Chromebook and Nexus 10, this eight-core beast may not be ready in time for the next "next big thing." Samsung could very well specifically be targeting this chip for Chromebooks and Windows RT / Android tablets before taking a dive into smaller form factors, too.
Either way, it's exciting business - I can't say I ever tire of technology getting faster.

to be honest lately i have started to lose interest in Samsung due to the whole exynos issue and lack of support for developers but if this is to be true then i feel comfortable in making my next device a Samsung (only with this chip ovcourse) lets hope we see this chip come to more devices if it is infact released we will have to wait and see what samsung brings us in 2013 to decide if our loyalty to samsung is acctually worth it

Well if you read its not a true 8 core processor. It is two CPU's both quad core. One being an A15 @1.8GHz and the other an A7 @1.2GHz

Yes and Intel working on a 48 core chip.
Also it doesn't matter if the application you are running isn't designed for multi cores, most of the time this isn't even possible. People are still forgetting that one application isn't EVERYTHING that runs on a CPU, there are a lot of processes that run at the same time and thus benefit from multi core architecture.
Someone please move this useless thread.

It's still a octa-core if you want to be anal about the definition, one of the hacks in kernels with this device SoC will be to run all cores in asymmetric multiprocessor modes.
But anyway the timing coincides with the 5450 rumors we've been hearing. Either they have two discrete quad A15 SoCs or they're both the same thing.

I would recommend the quad core. I have the octa cor myself but the quad core is said to have better battery life and it has LOTS of custom roms
Octa core is not octa at all. It's rather dual quad. Eight cores never work at once in this cpu. This is so called big little architecture designed to save battery while keeping high cpu power. Looks like this attempt failed for now. Take a look at gsm arena comparison.
IMHO 9505 is way better deal.

I have the octa core and i love it! Although I would add that i do not have the quad core to compare with. Both are great.
In the end it all boils down to LTE or not to LTE. I chose not to. For me, anything above 3Mbps is quite handy. And i get 6Mbps+ approx on my AT&T prepaid HSPA+.

"Performance-wise, the octa-core Exynos has a slight advantage, but that's not because of the higher number of cores. You have got to remember that only a single set of four cores is active at a any single time - either the power-sipping Cortex A7's or the number-crunching Cortex A15's.
It is evident from our tests however, that the Exynos version of the Galaxy S4 is not much more powerful than the Snapdragon 600. Furthermore, the battery life performance of the Exynos-touting variant is consistently worse than the one by the Snapdragon 600 version."
Which is why i picked i9505. Almost no difference in speed but big difference in battery. My i9505 lasts almost 2 days sometimes.
Hello, I am wanting to purchase this cool phone which features a octa core processor and has 13 MP camera rear and 5mp front facing camera.
It has also got a big touch screen and comes with Android 4.2 installed.
I have some questions regarding this phone before I buy it.
Questions:
- What is the GPU of the phone and how many CORES does it use?
- What is the clock speed of the gpu or each cores and what model is the video chip made from?
- How much video memory does the phone use in it's chip?
- On goo phone's website the price is $240.00 but im not sure if that is the same price in Australia. Is that phone $240 in AUD or is it a USA site instead or is it listed as cheap because it is in china and for Australian people they must use a currency changer?
I want to know what the DPI of the screen is and also I want to know if the phone is water and dust resistant or not.
I REALLY NEED THIS PHONE because it is a very cheap 8 CPU powered phone but I am unsure if $240 AUD is going to be the price for this phone. Has any one bought a model just like this one for the same price but less cpu's say a quad core model but a 8 core model would cost around $400???
Im not sure and that's why I ask here.
HOw about the android operating system? I Know it is 4.2 but is it kitkat or is it upgradable to kitkat?
Would I be able to execute playstation mobile on it? - you don't hve to answere this question but if you know any thing more please tell me
If you're in aus, I'd look at the much nicer Moto G, octa core isn't everything and you're likely to get better performance from the quad core in the G than any Chinese octa core phone.

Why is 8 core not better then a quad core cortex A7 cpu?
Do you know the video chip of the goophone s4 max? I have purchased it but im not sure what the price will come on my credit card as in AUD that's were worries me that I may be charged more then the amount said on the site's webpage.
If you know more about the goophone s4 max and what I have asked can you please put it here, I DO NOT want any other phone except for the 8 core one because that is definitely faster RIGHT since it has a faster 2.0GHz clock speed and 8 cores means it is faster
I've been looking all over ali express find tons of conflicting info but I think I have deduced that the rk3811 quad core a9 is the fastest processor you can find in these units ( please correct me if i'm wrong). Well, I just googled the "quad core Android unit review" and it showed this in-depth review. After reading that review, I start to pay attention to that AutoPumpkin brand. They have released a few quad core Android units and also uploaded the review videos on YouTube to help us know better about their products. Besides, you can search the Android unit on Amazon or eBay. Don't just focus on Ali express.

I agree, usually on AE it's very difficult to get good communication and detailed responses, but occasionally I've found sellers who will try to help.
I have no idea of the other A9 boards would work because the form factor is critical. These units have a pretty unique slot for the som, so you have to find one made for it - it's not generic.
