coming from note5 and note 3 before it, i feel that the mate 8 default set vibration for all notifications to be really low, to the point that i don`t feel it most of the time in my pocket or even if the phone is in front of me on my desk with moderate to low surrounding noise.
unlike the note5, where you can set the vibration intensity, i kept searching the settings with no luck finding it on EMUI.... really disappointed that Huawei did not include such basic feature...... i keep my phone silent on vibration like 90% of the time...
is there any way to increase it on stock non-rooted firmware ?
thanks in advance.
Hey, not on stock (i already wrote huawei support)! I miss it to (came from LG G2 with CM12/13).

i hope they fix it asap ,
really annoying for a high end phone!!
Me too, feel the vibration is really really weak... If I root which custom Rom has strong vibration?
nothing after 1 year?

I've had my V20 for over a month now and I personally love this phone and have it set up almost exactly the way I like it (just waiting for Xposed), and maybe it's just me but one thing I've noticed is that haptic feedback is so weak (even set to maximum) it's practically non existent. The vibration levels for notifications aren't too bad especially compared to haptic but imo they still could use an increase, so does anyone know if it would be possible to increase the maximum haptic and vibration levels when rooted? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Actually , in turned the vibrate down to about medium. It seems that on high it vibrates very fast and I can't feel it, but when I turned it down I feel it better.

Thanks for the suggestion! I just lowered mine down to try it out and I get what you're saying because idk if it's just in my head but I can already tell a difference while typing this message. I'll give it a try for a while to see if I still notice it over time but it honestly does seem like it made a difference so thanks again for the suggestion, I'd still like to know if there's any way to increase it though because even though what you said seems to have helped it still just feels a little too weak compared to what I'm used to.

Yeah coming from the note 7 the v20 is very weak unfortunately. I could have heard my note 7 vibrate when on a flat surface from another room lol
It's so bad i can hear it vibrating/echoing. Is everyone else's this strong? And if you have/had a 3/3T do you think it is a lot stronger?
There's an option to decrease the vibration and intensity and even the vibration pattern. You could try that.
Oh boy.
Yes. As the other guy mentioned. You can decrease the intensity in setting.
But also: I am coming from a htc10. The OP5 is way more quiet / weaker than my 10. If you think the OP5 is loud, the htc 10 would be an earthquake to you ;D

I have. It is still strong and I can hear it everytime it gives feedback.
Allez, another reason to return it!

the vibration was too weak IMO on the 3 so this is a welcome for me. I've yet to open my op5 yet so we will see

I love the 3T vibration. It's there just enough to know it's there. My wife doesn't think the 5 is as strong as her iPhone 7+ vibration so I guess I'm just used to the 3/3T plus personal preference.
I Love the Vibration of the op5, but i Need longer Vibration!!!! Even in WhatsApp settings it doesnt Work

Coming from the s7, the haptic feedback is so strong, even on Light intensity... It would have been nice if it was more refined The s7 is far superior in this aspect.
Regarding htc10, when I first got that in hand, the haptic feedback was a instant no go for me :-s

Coming from the Galaxy S4, the vibration on the OP5 is much too weak for my tastes.
Is it still too strong? I recall reading that an update lowered the intensity overall. Does anyone know what was changed? I'd like to be able to increase it back (if safe to do so). Hoping it's rom based and not kernel. Or if it's kernel, maybe a custom kernel already has it increased
God, I'm still using my Oneplus 3t, The Oneplus 5 is sitting in its box.
I couldn't be more let down by the Notification led that they should have called the "I CAN BARELY SEE IT LED"
And the dim blue navigation button lights are so dim compared to the Oneplus 3t white ones as well.
Seriously, It has one job...To NOTIFY...what was the point of making it so dim you can't see it in a lit room unless the phone is in your hand.
I've tried Custom Firmware (Resurrection Remix), I've tried Light Flow...Nothing ...That Dim Led is already at 100% and about 1/4 the brightness of the 3t.
Sadly I come from Australia, Not a county Oneplus sells to so no returning for me.
Thats $770 down the drain, I rely heavily on the NOTIFICATION LED (If you're reading this Oneplus...Thats NOTIFICATION...as in NOTIFYING..like, being VISIBLE)
It's sad, A notification led is one of the things that really separates us from Iphone users.
Maybe with a firmware update but i doubt it...I have the terrible feeling they're at full brightness...But lets hope
I don't mind the capacitive buttons being dim since I turn off lights anyway. But yeah, the notification LED is pretty dim for whatever reason.
I guess the best option for those who rely on notifications is to turn on Ambient Display.
I actually like the navigation leds being on, I set them to be on as long as the screen is on.
I could live with them, but the notification led... It's like what's next.. A camera that doesn't take pictures, a battery that doesn't charge, a speaker that makes no sound.
It's a NOTIFICATION Led, one job.. To be able to notify you ?*
""A notification led is one of the things that really separates us from Iphone users.""
but having a 3T and a op5 in a box. Apple fan boii much, buying phones every year, what a waste/overconsumption.
Ummm, no... I said I have a Oneplus 5 in a box.
I'm a tad confused by your
A) Obvious hostility towards me.
B) Having two android phones makes me an "Apple fan boii" how
I've actually never owned an Apple anything
Using the ElementalX kernel i increased the brightness of the LED. i would say it is more than adequate for my needs at least. Might be worth a try?
I'm also disappointed by the notification led being so dimm..
But if a kernel can brighten it up, maybe OnePlus can do it too.
I'd rather a custom OS, right now it's running Resurrection Remix Official, but not many kernels seem compatible with it.
And unlike RR on the Oneplus 3t, I don't feel it's very polisher on the Plus 5.... The Vibration is a bit glitchy, it tends to skip some key presses.. I mean if you press a key numerous times in a row.. Sometimes you'll get no haptic feedback.
I'm currently exploring other firmwares.
I really miss Xposed Framework ?
I'll let you know how I go.
They're almost unbrickable so I'm pretty gungho about flashing ****.

How did you increase the brighness? According to the commit message, the value in the kernel setting can be set between 1% and 100% brighness level of the stock value, ie no way to increase over stock value. Or am I missing something?

I use EX Kernel Manager. Under Misc. there is a section for Notification LED, fade speed, intensity and fade enable/disable. set my intensity to 9 and all is fine for my needs. On par with my 6P
9 should mean 9% of stock setting, so should be very low.. Must be something I am missing.. ?

It may have been a typo and he meant 90%.
And perhaps stock isn't set to maximum in the first place?

Stock is at 50%, but with light manager you can set to 100% without root or kernel. But that doesn't change enough to make the led good.

I am in dilemma between these two phone, both have same prices.
Stock Android > MIUI (I utterly dislike li)
A1 wins.
SD 636 > SD 625
Pro wins.
Audio jack quality (I care about my music experience):
Mi A1 (can confirm it is really good) > Pro ( not good, as per reviewers)
Camera (Not that concerning to me) but:
Pro > Mi A1
I will take the Pro with onscreen buttons so i can arrange the back button to the left. I can not do that in A1.
And looking back at the Xiaomi's track record, I can't see Pro getting any AOSP ROMs soon.
Bottom line.
If I get A1, i get good music quality, stock android with updates. Compromises include, reverse physical buttons and a older SOC 625 thus lower performance.
If I get Pro, i get good screen, very good performance, good cameras. Compromises include, MIUI.
Help mi guys.
Note 5 pro:
Will probably get ROMs in some months like redmi note 4.
Better camera.
I don't think sound can get any worse than Mi A1 with all the hissing.
Better display.
Better battery.
Better performance.
Does it have gorilla glass? Redmi note 4 didn't and it sucked.
Mi A1:
Slimmer.
Stock Android. I actually like miui tho.
ROMs cooking right now.
Well that concludes what I think, note 5 pro without any doubt for me. A1 is a rushed phone with bad audio and mediocre cameras and a smaller battery. I actually prefer my redmi note 4 with custom miui over A1 except for the camera.
Also I'm a bit biased for miui because I'm learning Mandarin ATM haha. But Roms will be there and be awesome quite quickly anyway so stock Android won't be far away for the note 5. It has none of the dual partition stupidness

I did not experience any hissing in A1, the dac is quite powerful just use a good quality headphone/headset.
Okay i am thinking of compromising with MIUI if only it answers my some questions.
Can I directly reply from notifications?
Can I swipe the notifications from one finger?
Can I snooze the notifications for minutes to hours like in nougat/android?
If MIUI can behave like stock android then I can compromise.
Can the miui apps be disabled? Because my whole ecosystem is on Google apps. Like calendar, contacts dialer, etc.
Whats the status on the ROMs for Pro? I know it's too early to say as the phone been just released?
The dual partition is quite handy though, i saw my friends phone update seamlessly just needed a reboot and that too was quite fast.
The DAC is bad for low ohm in-ears.
I think I could answer from notifications. Swipe notifications from one finger? Hmm I guess.
Well you can disable sync or put DNS mode. Or disable apps with powersaving.
Disable apps, with root that will soon be possible and without I guess some but most not.
ROMs, nothing so far, but note 4 was quite fast. Anyway, if unlocked and flashed with miui.eu it will be quite lean with mostly Google apps. Except for the necessary phone functions
My choice would be note 5 pro and after some months flash miui.eu or a stock build. Regarding dual partitions, Yeah sure they speed things up a bit but we only get at most 1 update per month and updating on miui takes at most 5 minutes so for me I would rather not have them and have more storage + easier rom development.
The only things that annoys me with my A1 is the hissing and camera quality. Otherwise I like it, but I would even take the regular redmi 5 plus over it so..
I really like my Mi A1. Good lil phone, I'd go for it again!
Before you make the jump, i would say just get a hands on experience of RN5pro. Cooping up with a 185gm+ device and that too having pretty wide width doesn't sound a pleasurable experince for prolonged usage.

"Think you could answer from notification.."
Please tell a concrete answer, like in whatsapp you can reply from notification itself.
"Swipe Notification.."
Sorry, my bad, i meant to ask if i can expand notification with one finger to see the contents not swipe away the notification. Do Notifications get bundled if there are many of the same app?
"Well you can disable sync or put DNS mode. Or disable apps with powersaving."
Isn't that too much work to just snooze the notifications for one particular app?
"Disable apps, with root that will soon be possible and without I guess some but most not. "
Can't i disable miui's calender app to use google calender without root?.

Yes i did notice the width, i need two hands to operate it weight is okay and manageable. Well from the reviews and comparison pro is a bit narrower and a bit taller, so i would need two hands to use it anyways, gone are the days of the likes of Nexus 5, i miss it.
GSMArena says it does not have compass sensor. Is it true?

I dont remember and I wouldn't do it myself. But its possible in various ways and also you can filter content to the lockscreen i think.

Most certainly you can just use a launcher like Evie and hide the app. Otherwise I cant answer if you can disable it.

Thank you
The vibration in my device is too low when compared to my other devices. Is it the same with all zenfone max pro m2 devices or is it just my device? Has anyone experienced this? I never saw a thread about low vibration.
EDIT: I was on Pie beta rom. Vibration works fine in v186 rom. It was just a new software bug which asus introduces in every new update and it has been fixed in Pie 066 update. So it's not a hardware related issue.
Its same for my device too. Very low compared to xaomi devices I guess the vibration motor is where they cut the price.

Of course not... I am using ArrowOS and the vibration feedback is awesome...
even i am facing the same issue.
Yess .. vibration is so much low that i can't feel an incoming call when the phone is in my pocket while driving
I use havoc os. Vibration ? can be varied as per your convenience. It can be increased to the value that phone shakes like mad and can be decreased so low that you won't even it in your hand. Thanks to extreme customization available in havoc os. So no. Problem is definitely not in vibration motor. It is somewhere in stock rom.
Dude, shift to custom rom. You will love it
