Hello,
Lately I have been unable to send or receive text messages that contain pictures or videos. The error message is always the same "National access coverage not available."
I called Verizon, on Thursday of last week (1-13), and the technician was unable to figure out the problem. He escalated it to the next level and said that someone would be contacting me in a day or 2. Well it's now Wednesday (1-19) of the following week and so far, nothing!
Has anyone else run into this problem? If so, what's the fix? Any help would be appreciated, especially since Verizon has been no help at all!
I'm using a Moto Droid2 ver, 2.3.2 Rooted and OC'd @ 2.25Ghz
Thanks,
Scott

Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately, it didn't work. I updated it waited the 15 minutes. When it didn't work I rebooted the phone figuring maybe it needed to be refreshed or something, (long time windows tech, reboot fixes everything!) but still nothing. Just that same message.
I get the exact same error when sending or receiving MMS 50 percent of the time with the first initial try... *228 does not fix this.. verizon cannot fix it either...
OK, got tired of waiting for Verizon to call back. On the phone with 2nd tier support now for about the last hour, so far nothing.
Mine started doing that on mms after using juice defender app and I had to do a factory reset to fix it.
OK, got finished with the Verizon tech, who was very helpful, but we still could not resolve the issue.
She removed and reloaded my data from the server, switched me to another IP address and did a few other behind the scenes things but nothing worked. She suggested doing the factory reset, but I'm ready to give up troubleshooting this issue yet. If all else fails, then I guess I will have no other option.
Since sending MM text's in not a huge part of what I use my phone for, I may just wait for the next release of the software and hope that fixes it.
In the mean time I'll just keep playing with settings and searching Google and the message boards in the hope that someone can come up with a fix that doesn't involve having to wipe it.

I used to use that app, but removed it long before this started happening. I wonder if it left behind some orphan files that are somehow in there wreaking havoc?
Since the problem still existed even running the phone in safe mode, I would think that would not be the case, but anythings possible.
my phone does the same thing with same message... if i try again to download message it will usually come through, but if it happens on outgoing message it will never go through

That's the thing. Since so many people are having the same or similar issue, I just find it hard to believe it's not something on Verizon's side or with their software. This many people screwing up their phone's in the exact same way all around the same time just seem a little suspect to me.
Mine happened 6 months ago. Just reset it and see what happens. All your apps with reinstall by themselves.

Yeah, I guess I'm going to have to try something. I want to make a nandroid backup first just to be safe and then I'll give it a shot.
Thanks.
This is great!
So, I just finished the factory reset (which DID fix the problem) and was starting to configure all my custom settings when the Verizon tech I spoke with called me back. She said that she had just spoken to Motorola and they said it was a known problem with their phones! They are not sure what it is yet, but they are working on it. In the mean time, the only thing they can suggest is to reset the phone as a work around!
I asked the Verizon tech if there was any kind of documentation about this that she could send me, but of course there isn't. And there's also nothing on the Motorola site about the error either, at least nothing I could find.
While it doesn't make the situation go away, it does make me feel better knowing what the root of the problem is, sort of. Only problem is, there is no guarantee that it won't happen again.
i turn airplane mode on then off... works for me
Im having the same problem. I even reflashed to stock motorola, still does it. I noticed if i hold down on failed pics or tap download a few times it works. The problem seems to be triggering the data on and off from the send button.

Yes, I had heard that worked for some people, and I did try that but it still didn't work. Even so, that would only be a work around and not really fixing the issue.

Interesting, since I did the factory rest I haven't had a problem. If it happens again, I'll be sure to check that.
Im looking for fixes for my issues with the DVP.
First off I have 2 apps that wont download or update. I have an ilomilo update will not update unless using the wifi or connecting to the PC. The sims 3 is the same way. Trying to use wifi doesnt work and tends to lock up and needs a battery pull. Connecting to the PC doesnt do anything and havent figured out to sync apps doing so without buying from the marketplace from the PC.
Lately I have been witness some lag and hesitation for some reason, not sure if its going between 3g and Edge. But today i noticed it bad and was wondering if there is any fix for this. To further explain my situation i may be texting a message and it takes about 5 seconds for the first letter to come up then its fine. Not sure if anyone else has witnessed this issue. I cycled the phone off then on and hoped this fixed it. Havent really witnessed it after that.
Is their any fix for my issues I really need my apps to download and clear off because i paid for the Sims 3 and havent even played it yet.
i'd contact Dell and request a replacement, your phone shouldn't lock up when WIFI is enabled, it could be a hardware issue.
im on the phone with Dell now, I told him to send me a replacement.
But he also said Dell is working on an update to fix the WIFI issue whih is suppose to be released this Month.
Lets see if they actually replace my device or deny me, the guy said he had to talk to his manager
Well I figured out one of my problems but its still a problem they have to fix. I found out I cant let the phone sleep while trying to update apps or download big apps over WIFI. Weird, but thats the only way i could download stuff that was in quen

That seems to be a common issue. If I let my phone go into standby while installing an app it will often not come out of sleep.
exactly what i was running into. They need to fix that, i dont want to keep my screen active while while the app downloads
Hello all,
Quick question. Is anyone losing Google Sync / Data when on Wifi ?
Happens at home and work. Never had an issue with my GS3 or One X. On cell service it works fine.
update 11/24
Seems as though its a pretty widespread issue. Also , it is an issue with the connection it self, not just google sync.
I opened up a "google issue" , if you are having the same problems I recommend posting on the thread. It can be found here:

I have the exact same problem. But it only happens at home. At home we've wep and at work wpa2. Never had an issue with my GS2. On cell service it works fine for me too.
Is android 4.2 incompatible with 128-bit WEP???
This is driving me nuts! Any ideas community??

I've noticed this too but seems to only be when the phone is sleeping? I'll turn screen on and bars will be gray and then turn blue. Did you guys turning off wifi optimization in wifi settings? I might try that next. It's some sort of power saving

hey guys,
I actually put in a google issue that seems to be picking up some steam.
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=40065
I have no clue what causes it at this point. It doesnt happen on all networks. Happens on my work network which is open / unsecured.
Also does it on my inlaws network which is wpa2 encrypted. However my home network which is also wpa2 encrypted is fine.
I recommend posting on the google issue to raise awareness
I added my experience, it seems to me like it's keeping wifi alive but not the Google connection. I have no issues on a Nexus 7 running 4.2 so it's not my router either but could be something specific to Nexus 4 hardware. I might try changing wifi sleep policy to never to see if at least this way HSPA will be connected when screen is off.

Anybody not having this issue? It's really annoying and for some reason even if I set wifi to stay on when plugged in or never it takes forever to disconnect so I still don't get alerts. Definitely appears to be an issue with 4.2 so i guess we just have to wait and hope it is fixed in next update.

It's happening to me both with my N4 on 4.2 and also with my Transformer Prime, recently updated to 4.1.1. Only on specific networks.

It actually happens to me on both new Nexus 4 and Nexus 7. Happens on home network (WPA2).
Any chance this could be a Google server issue? My Nexus 7 on 4.2 and GS3 running CM10 4.1.2 doesn't have issue either just my Nexus 4. Not sure what's causing it on my Nexus 4 but it's driving me crazy.

I'm pretty sure this is a general Wifi issue, and not limited to Google services. I've noticed that when the Wifi goes to sleep, I no longer receive incoming calls in GrooveIP or Sipdroid. I also don't receive email alerts until I turn on the screen, and the wifi re-activates.
EDIT: I ran a simple test. Loaded GrooveIP, called GV # from another phone, GrooveIP rang. Let the phone sit for 10 minutes to fall asleep. Called again. Didn't ring. I then loaded up Advanced Wifi Lock to prevent the phone from going asleep. The first call worked, and so did the one after 10 minutes. So, this definitely seems like an issue that impacts any service depends on a reliable Wifi link - not just Google's Sync services. I ran the same test with Sipdroid, and got identical results.

That's a bad example because GrooveIP uses GTalk on the backend so you're still using Google Services. What makes this more puzzling is I went to a Brooklyn Nets game last night and they have crazy fast open WiFi at the place while my phone was connected, it appears that all notifications worked even when the screen was off. I was too busy watching the game to pay much attention but I did get emails, etc. while the screen was off and I was on Wifi. The main difference between that WiFi and my home Wifi is the one at the arena had no security at all.
I've been playing around with my router and tweaking settings but nothing is working and I'm pretty sure this is a phone software issue. What I want to find is someone with 4.2 on a Nexus 4 who is NOT having an issue. I'm starting to wonder if this is an app or Google Service sync related issue.
My Nexus 7 running 4.2 does NOT have any issue on the same exact Wifi so I'm wondering if it's some app or setting on my phone that's causing this
For me it definitely seems to occur more on unsecured networks.
Not only is it google sync but the connection in general.
Anybody with this issue brave enough to try a factory reset? If it doesn't get solved soon I'll probably flash CWM recovery, do a nandroid and then do a factory reset to see if that fixes it. At least that way if it doesn't I can restore backup.
Anyone want to try now?

Weird! So you did a factory reset and still nothing? Did you still have the issue before you restored apps? I mean like completely stock with just what comes on the phone. If you still have the issue with that, then we know it's not app related.
I might also try downloading and reflashing the system image...maybe something got screwed up in the 4.2 update??

Strange then that it might fix this issue since the wifi module is stored in system and he's not overwriting it so something in the kernel itself

so this is the second S7e and second SIM that I have been having this issue with. The phone will lose connection to the mobile network and the ONLY way to recover is to reboot phone. Reset Network Settings doesn't do anything. Toggle airplane mode doesn't do anything. Search for Network Operators doesn't do anything. I have a third phone on the way - but has anyone around here heard of or experienced similar? Am I missing something that I should be doing to correct this?

Did you pay the $20? I didnt want to pay the 20 so i sent the device to samsung. Should get it back friday or monday. The issue is definitely phone related. Im using a verizon s7 now and no issues like that arose. I even tried new sim.. My father is having same issue t-mobile s7 edge
Yes i had to pay 20. And it's disappointing I am having this issue with the replacement phone. I am having this problem on the U firmware as well.

I've suffered the same issue from time-to-time and just do a restart....annoying as hell to be honest
Are you guys always in the same location when this is happening or is it just whenever and wherever? Or is it happening a one certain place where cell signal isn't that great? I had this same issue BUT only in my house so I had to get a network range extender from t-mobile to use at home.
This happens to me all the time. It's so annoying. At work, in the car, at home--it doesn't matter where I am. Have reset firmware multiple times and even rolled back once too. I think it has to do with the latest software because I never had this issue before the Fall/Winter. Hopefully Nougat fixes this!

I am having the same problem, this will be my 3rd phone 4th sim. I wish I knew how to fix it
I would try flashing different radios/modems, its worth a shot. Maybe try flashing the "U" firmware radios.
Nougat will fix it
My wife and I had the same issue on our tmobile s7 edge ... we got the 7.0 beta and now the issue is gone .... I bet it's radio and software related ... 7.0 will be out by the end of the month hope that helps...
I had this issue with my phone, and it was a huge pain. The biggest concern: I didn't know when my phone was off network (voice, data, etc.). The fix, for me, was simple: a new SIM card.
You may have an issue from a rejected permission on an app.
Had the same issue before but I did a hard reset and realised that I changed permissions on an app that wasn't written for 6.1.

I hope so! Been waiting for that before I try anything drastic, even though this issue is a huge pain in the ass. I'm glad others have come out of hiding to express their concerns with it as well. I thought I was the only one for the longest time having this issue.

Many of us have tried new SIM cards, but it's worth a shot if it's still not working consistently after Nougat is released.

My and my friend's phones are both running pure 100% OEM Tmo stock without any apps disabled or touched at all and we have this issue and have done multiple resets. Pretty sure it's an actual hardware defect, or hopefully just a software one with the modem/radio.

I received a refurb. Other than this problem, the phone is alright. I noticed this problem on receiving the phone it was running on T firmware. Then I switched to U firmware and radio but no difference. I called customer support yesterday, they said to go to a retail store to get the phone replaced. My worry is going through this process again and if I receive a bad device again what to do? After all refurb phones are like playing Russian roulette!

I just had this start happening on mine... I really wish they would release nougat already. It is ridiculous they won't post an Odin flashable version of the release candidate if it does indeed fix the issue.
I also think its a specific tower configuration that is causing the issue that the radio can not understand. (Maybe 3xCA). Its happening in the same areas every time.
I just started having this problem in the past month. All at once I've been getting BT sometimes turning off, mobile networks failing to reconnect after I visit a no/low signal area (such as after a plane trip when the phone was in airplane mode). I've also seen wifi mode fight my attempts to turn it back on sometimes - toggling itself on and off a couple of times per second until I poke at enough settings to stop it. When BT turns itself off I have trouble turning it back on, sometimes it just goes back on, sometimes it refuses after a number of tries and if I wait an hour it goes back on just fine.
The folks at a BB Samsung kiosk said they could reflash it if I wanted to go that route, but that the nougat release would be out soon so it might be better to just wait for that. Has anyone had a Samsung rep re-image their phone to try to solve this?

I guess I wasn't clear about that as I have several problems that are probably related, but behave a little differently.
BT dropping - can usually turn it back on, but sometimes it refuses. Usually don't need to reboot to fix this.
Wifi dropping - often have trouble turning it back on and have seen the widget toggle off and on repeatedly by itself. Sometimes have to reboot to fix that.
Mobile Network data (and voice sometimes) dropping - usually have to reboot. I think I may have recovered that once without a reboot, but the other few times it's happened in the past month since it started I have rebooted and that fixed it in all but one of the reboots - one time I rebooted and still had to fiddle with it a bit after the reboot before it came back. That may have been because I played too much with the network settings before the reboot and so had to undo that damage after the reboot. But, definitely rebooting is a fairly reliable step in fixing this problem.
All 3 started happening around the same time which is why I thought it was a software issue (I remember a small update a little over a month ago, but forget the details of it). It's nice to hear that others also have the mobile network problem, but if that is isolated in those cases then maybe I'm not seeing exactly the same problem. But, it is clear that rebooting is almost always required to get my mobile network data back so that again suggests that at least that part is the same as what this thread is discussing.
In looking at the T-Mobile updates page for the S7 Edge I see that the version I have (G935TUVU4APK1) was updated in early November - which tracks when I started having problems, and it includes a fix for "Domestic data roaming improvements", which definitely sounds like they may have played with the radios.
I am so ready for the Nougat update...
Sorry if this has been discussed before. I just can't find it anywhere.
Is anybody having any Wi-Fi issues with their S8? What is happening for me, is that, I connect to my home private Wi-Fi network. Then 10 seconds later the network completely disconnects. Then approximately 10-20 seconds later it reconnects again. It keeps doing it over and over and over, non stop in a cycle. So I completely disconnected from my Wi-Fi, and I'm using my 4G LTE. I started noticing this at home, but then as I go to other to other Wi-Fi networks it's he same issue.
I even did a factory reset to the phone because of this issue and a home button vibration issue, where the vibration would not stop even in standby mode. It was also causing the Android OS settings to even be disabled, and not let me go into the OS serttings from the Android OS taskbar menu button, or the button for the settings in the app drawer. The factory reset did fix the vibration issue, but it didn't fix the Wi-Fi issue at all.
Also, is anybody else having this exact specific Wi-Fi issue I'm having?
Thanks in advance for all the answers and feedback!

I already am up to date with all the apps in the Play Store and the Samsung store. I even contacted Samsung, and the woman on the phone on her own just completely connected me to a manager without saying a word to me. The manager ended up saying that he never heard of this and made a bug report so they could look into it. It's also not in their system, according to this manager. This was today around 5PM EST
It could be a hardware issue. Have you thought about exchanging it?

I already did. This is the second device to have the Wi-Fi issue. I just received my replacement device in the mail today around 4PM EST, which is the device I'm talking about here.
The thing I'm thinking is, that maybe if I went back to the direct cell phone providers store and did a buyer's remorse exchange. It could just be a batch of phones that have the same issue. Which more than one from the batch could be located at the same store. But since I'm in Florida, and the replacement device came from somewhere in Pennsylvania it's a completely different batch. Which the Samsung manager agreed with me. He even told me what I already know, that even if Samsung tests the phone. People in the real world using the phone, may encounter issues that Samsung never found on their own. He also went on to say that it's vital, that people in general, especially people that are tech savvy and semi tech savvy call in, because with us calling in it can help fix the issues that Samsung may have never encountered on our own. The manager also said, that there can be more people with the same exact issue, they just never called in and reported it like I have.

I already did. This is the second device to have the Wi-Fi issue. I just received my replacement device in the mail today around 4PM EST, which is the device I'm talking about here.

What kind of router are you using? Have to tried another? Go to a Starbucks, or some other free WiFi spot and test. So far with you it's been a 100% issue. I'd start looking at different things.

Like I said in one of the above post, that I noticed it at home first. But as I used other Wi-Fi's I noticed it was an ongoing issue. I've tired my home private Network, my work private network, and at a few friends houses.
The manager from Samsung, honestly believes that it is a Android OS bug.
Ah ok. I missed that. Easy to do when on the go. [emoji3]

It's not a big deal, I completely understand. So what else do you think I should try?
I also have issues with Wi-Fi similar to yours, if anyone has a solution, please let me know
Have you made sure that in settings you have a tick on "Keep wifi on durring sleep" ? Also for the sake of it, switch off "battery optimization" for all apps and see how it behaves. Also make sure you swithch off the option "smart network switch" under WiFi settings. What your phone is probably doing is constantly trying to switch between the WiFi and mobile data, or the power management puts it in sleep to preserve battery.
Well instead of getting the same same old suggestions (which Im sure you tried, all of them) you can read thru them all here in the thread that already exists:

Honestly what's probably going to happen is, we're going to have to wait for an OTA update.

Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep is activated. But it has nothing to do with that because my phone goes to standby mode in 30 seconds. While as soon as I connect to the Wi-Fi network, 10 seconds later it completely disconnects me. Then 10-20 seconds later it reconnects me. Then it repeats the same thing over and over. The phone can be completely in use, or it can be in standby mode, the same problem still occurs. Also the same thing goes for battery optimization, while it's on and off.
It also appears that someone else on the first page is having similar Wi-Fi issues. So maybe, a few of the many mass produced phones are having Wi-Fi issues. So maybe it's really an OS bug like the manager from Samsung on the phone yesterday was telling me.
Hi All, even am having a same problem, am here in Saudi Arabia and when i spoke to samsung Persons they are not showing an exact root of the problem and not even willing to exchange my mobile. this issue is with my mobile since 3 months and am waiting for upadte , i got 2 updates till now but none solved my wifi problem, i donno what to do
I can say this only happens to me when I have Bluetooth on and my watch connected and when I'm on a 2.4 signal vs a 5....and if by chance is your phone with sprint or verizon?
