Step By Step
Hi Kris,
Pretty simple really.
Connect your X1 to your pc via microsofts activesync. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/activesync45.mspx#download
Use the explore button on activesync and click on my windows mobile based device (once inside you can access the root of the phone or the storage card if you have one)
Drag and drop the required .cab to either the root of the storage card or a folder of your choice on the phone (for ease of access)
Go back to your X1 and use the file explorer to navigate to the .cab file, tap it and it will execute.
Follow the instructions given by the installation wizard.
Your application is now installed........enjoy

Step By Step tutorial to get it working
1. Download BIOS File - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GEW0PM4S
2. Download roms from http://www.emuparadise.org/ Make sure you own the original copy or that would be considered illegal.
3. Download http://www.neillcorlett.com/ecm/ (Mac users download the Mac GUI Port in the link)
MAC Users you will need to download the expander for the above program to work. Free download http://www.stuffit.com/mac-expander.html
After you download the expander drag the ECM program (.sit) into that expander, you will get a new folder with the correct file in it.
4. Browse the zipped rom until you locate the .ecm file
5. Extract or move the .ecm to your desktop
6. Open the downloaded ecm program and select un-ecm
7. Locate your .ecm file
8. Click begin
9. Wait a few minutes, after its complete put the new .bin file in your nexus one
10. THATS IT!
This tutorial was mostly for mac users, cause I was having a hard time with my mac. Just want to help others.
This is a guide on how to downgrade the LG Vortex from 2.2.1 to 2.2 and get root back
How TO Downgrade To 2.2
This is a guide on how to downgrade your phone if you updated to 2.2.1 and lost root.
First you will have to get files from here
Extract it to your desktop
The file "LGNPST_General_v1.2_Lab_Version.msi" must be run first. this installs the program but it will be unusable. Take the file in the "LGNPST LAB 1.2" folder and copy and paste it into "C:/LG Electronics/LGNPST/".
Make a shortcut on your desktop for this file as it is the one needed to make the program work.
Than install the Companent and Generic files From here
This will install all versions of the .dll's from 1.0 to 5.0
Next create a folder named "Model" and "LGVS660" in "C:/LG Electronics/LGNPST/".
Now extract the KGVS660.rar and put the "tot', SCR and the dll file into the "LGVS660" Folder.
Now open up the run program and put this in there (regsvr32 "C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST\Model\LGVS660\VS660.dll") without the ()
From there open LGNPST from your shortcut. If your phone is plugged in it should recognize it immediately. If it doesn't click "File" then "Select DLL then choose MS690.dll from the list.
Make sure that where it says "Provision" it is set to "Upgrade". Do not ask about any of the other modes because I have no idea what they do or how they work.
Where it says "BIN file" click the folder icon and type in *.* where it says file name then click "Open" then choose the "MS690ZV3_36.S3_36.P3014.tot" file.
Put a check mark in "SCR file" and add the "Common_UserSCR_00.scr" file
Once that's done you're set for a complete restore and back on the path of 2.2 and get rooted again.

There are times when a driver package simply will not install properly leaving Windows in a state where a a single component is missing or is linked to the incorrect driver or a dummy driver. In these cases Windows must be coaxed into finding the correct driver.
Go into control panel/system/device manager with the tablet hooked up. Look for devices with the yellow ! exclamation point.
Some drivers when you download them can be extracted directly from the package. Unfortunately the Acer USB executable keeps you from doing this directly. But, there is a way to get to the driver package and copy it.
Open an Explorer window. Navigate to C:\Users\<youruserprofile>\AppData\Local\Temp
That folder is technically hidden, if you can't see it, you'll have to go to the menu under tools/folder options and check 'Show hidden files and folders'. You may have turn on the menu bar by going to 'Layout' on the sidebar.
Note: Even if you can't see the AppData folder upon entering your profile directory, you can also navigate to it by appending \AppData to the path on the address bar.
Change your view to 'Details' and then sort by date. Leave that window as is.
Unzip the the Acer USB driver executable package. This will leave you with a file called "ICONIA TAB USB Driver Setup.exe"
Run the executable and select the language and then click 'next', and just leave it open and don't do anything. At this point the setup will extract the driver package from the executable.
Now go back to the Explorer window open to the temp folder. Scroll until you can see the newest folders (they should have the current date and time). The setup will have created 2 folders. One is the actual setup, the other is the drivers. On my machine, the driver folder name is "{2736D2C2-2104-4AA0-BEB9-091B78D38D7D}" but this may differ on yours.
Of the two created folders, the folder that has about 20 .ini files in it is the one you want. Go back up and make a copy of this folder to a different location where you can find it easily (right click and copy/paste or drag and drop).
Once you've copied this folder, rename it to something useful like "Acer A500 USB driver".
You can now close the setup. When you do, the setup will delete the folders in Temp.
You now have a folder with the full driver package.
Fixing missing or B0rken drivers:
Go to back to control panel/system/device mangler. With the tablet hooked up, look for any exclamation points related to USB or tablet. Right click on the non-working item and select "Update Driver Software". Then select "Browse my computer for driver software". Browse to the folder you copied and select it and click OK.
Windows should acquire and install the driver properly.
I have used this in ICS, where the tablet connects as a media drive but will not establish an ADB connection (Acer Composite ADB Interface).
Hi guys

This is from memory, and a few weeks old.
But from what I recall there is an additional step for the 1.06.1500 download, it does not extract the drivers directly but a msi package that contains the drivers.
So the steps would be something like:
Download the driver package
Unzip the driver package
Run the setup.exe
Just leave it running untill you have completed the next steps.
When started setup.exe file will extract a msi package into a subdirectory of %tempdir% (should be C:\Users\<youruserprofile>\AppData\Local\Temp as mentioned earlier)
Look in %tempdir% for the extracted .msi file
Extract the .msi file (using winrar of whatever you prefer that can read .msi)
It contains among other things the driver dll and inf files
Copy the files you want somewhere else
Well, that work, for the first step. Now i have to install the APX driver... And this is not working with these instructions... Any new Ideas? Thanks anyway

When I got stuck there, I fixed it by unplugging the Acer A500 from the PC's USB port.
What you need:
PC
WP with tech preview installed. (preferably slow build as it is more stable)
Steps:
-On your PC create a shortcut to Your C: drive and you will then find the shortcut on your desktop.
-Plug in your phone and move the shortcut from the desktop to the root of your phone
-Unplug your phone and open file explorer from your app list.
-Tap my device and click on the C: drive shortcut and it should take you to the C; drive of your phne where you will have access to all files including the ability to change folder names to gain more permission to files inside..
im an enthusiast not a dev so anyone with more info correct me if im wrong on anything. Thanks
Edit: know what your doing this is dangerous
