PSX4Droid Noob Guide - Nexus One General

Step By Step tutorial to get it working
1. Download BIOS File - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GEW0PM4S
2. Download roms from http://www.emuparadise.org/ Make sure you own the original copy or that would be considered illegal.
3. Download http://www.neillcorlett.com/ecm/ (Mac users download the Mac GUI Port in the link)
MAC Users you will need to download the expander for the above program to work. Free download http://www.stuffit.com/mac-expander.html
After you download the expander drag the ECM program (.sit) into that expander, you will get a new folder with the correct file in it.
4. Browse the zipped rom until you locate the .ecm file
5. Extract or move the .ecm to your desktop
6. Open the downloaded ecm program and select un-ecm
7. Locate your .ecm file
8. Click begin
9. Wait a few minutes, after its complete put the new .bin file in your nexus one
10. THATS IT!
This tutorial was mostly for mac users, cause I was having a hard time with my mac. Just want to help others.

really newbie question - install software

hi.. i download a few program for my nike.. all in winzip files.. so how i want to install to my nike? using sync? memory card? tq..
The files inside the zip's should be cabs - extract these, stick them on your SD Card & put back in the phone, browse to the file with File Explorer & just click the file & hopefully it should launch. Some cabs require a reboot after installation so don't be surprised if it asks you to do i
thanks bro.. find some zip file contains exe icon.. but some zip files does't support by winzip.. so cant open it..
.cab - should be open on PPC
.exe - on Desktop (sometimes on PPC)

Creating your own Bootscreen (EASY WAY)

Works in any Android ROM
This will teach you how to make a custom boot screen. (Usually replaces the default HTC quietly brilliant screen)
I HAVE NOW INCLUDED MY FIRST BOOTSCREEN. (It is katy perry wearing an elmo shirt) Download both items, and extract the one that says "EXTRACT THIS.rar" and make sure "Just download this.rar" is in the same file location. (I had to do this because the upload limit was 8mb and I had to split the file)
Then skip to Step 12
I sorted them into steps so you can easily follow what you must do.
1. Download "Root Explorer" from the Android Market. and allow SuperUser access
2. Open the application and go to system->customize->resource->and locate the file that says "bootanimation.zip"
3. on the top of the screen, there should read a toggle that says "Mount R/W". Click it, to where it says "Mount R/O". (Turns on the option to write to your Root)
4. Copy this file to your computer
5. Now put this aside for a while. Download the file attached to this post, extract it, and add it to your it to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Presets\Scripts
6. Get a .gif or .avi file and open it with Adobe Photoshop. (Make sure it is already edited and must have a frame size of 480X800)
7. Now in Photoshop, go to, File->Scripts->Export Layers to Files(Fast PNG)
8. Locate the file you downloaded earlier to your computer from your phone. Extract it and go into the "android" folder.
9. Go to wherever you saved the exported layers, and rename every frame with accordance the frames in the "android" folder. So it matches.
10. Put all the renamed frames in the "android" folder and delete the old ones.
11. Use WinRar to zip them up again. BUT DO NOT COMPRESS THE .ZIP FILE, OTHERWISE THE PHONE WILL NOT RECOGNIZE IT.
12. Go back to your phone and locate the old "bootanimation.zip" and rename it to "bootanimation.bak".
13. Copy the the new "bootanimation.zip" into the same location and reboot phone.
14. Enjoy!!
Thanks for this very interesting tutorial.
Does anyone know a way without using Photoshop?
thank you very much
thankx a lot buddy this is first working and no problem tutorial...thankx

How to downgrade LG Vortex

This is a guide on how to downgrade the LG Vortex from 2.2.1 to 2.2 and get root back
How TO Downgrade To 2.2
This is a guide on how to downgrade your phone if you updated to 2.2.1 and lost root.
First you will have to get files from here
Extract it to your desktop
The file "LGNPST_General_v1.2_Lab_Version.msi" must be run first. this installs the program but it will be unusable. Take the file in the "LGNPST LAB 1.2" folder and copy and paste it into "C:/LG Electronics/LGNPST/".
Make a shortcut on your desktop for this file as it is the one needed to make the program work.
Than install the Companent and Generic files From here
This will install all versions of the .dll's from 1.0 to 5.0
Next create a folder named "Model" and "LGVS660" in "C:/LG Electronics/LGNPST/".
Now extract the KGVS660.rar and put the "tot', SCR and the dll file into the "LGVS660" Folder.
Now open up the run program and put this in there (regsvr32 "C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST\Model\LGVS660\VS660.dll") without the ()
From there open LGNPST from your shortcut. If your phone is plugged in it should recognize it immediately. If it doesn't click "File" then "Select DLL then choose MS690.dll from the list.
Make sure that where it says "Provision" it is set to "Upgrade". Do not ask about any of the other modes because I have no idea what they do or how they work.
Where it says "BIN file" click the folder icon and type in *.* where it says file name then click "Open" then choose the "MS690ZV3_36.S3_36.P3014.tot" file.
Put a check mark in "SCR file" and add the "Common_UserSCR_00.scr" file
Once that's done you're set for a complete restore and back on the path of 2.2 and get rooted again.

[Guide][TUT] How to make a System Dump from Odin-packages

Hi guys
Today I wanted to start porting some Galaxy Tab A apps to my Tab S by myself.
I searched for a Galaxy Tab A dump but there wasn't any...
So I decided to make a dump for myself.
Here are the steps I have done to create a system dump from a Odin firmware package
Let's start!
Things needed:
- Windows PC with...
- java installed
- sgs2toext4.jar downloadable from here
- ext2explore.exe downloadable from here
1) Take your time; download your Odin-Package from "sammobile.com/firmwares"
2) Extract the *.zip file using 7-Zip.
3) Now, extract the "system.img.ext4" in it
4) Open "sgs2toext4.jar"
5) A window called "Drop .img here" will appear
6) Take the "system.img.ext4" and drop it into the window
7) Wait; A new item called "system.img.ext4.img" will appear on your desktop
8) Now, open "ext2explore.exe" as Administrator
9) Click the "File"-tab and then click "open image"
10) Select your "system.img.ext4.img" which should be on your desktop
11) After this is done do a doubleclick on the harddisk icon on the right
11.1) Now you can see all things in your system partition
12) now go to the "Tools"-tab and select the "save" option.
13) Choose your place you want the dump
13.1) (Not recommended to select the desktop. Otherwise your desktop will be filled with a lot of things. Create a folder on the desktop instead)
14) Voila, your dump is ready. Be happy and press tha THX button now haha
I really do not know whose work the sgs2toext4.jar's is. Tell me via PM so I can give credit
Have a nice day :=)
awesome post!!!! Oh, if anyone needs updated links to the 2 file here, let me know as the original links no longer work.
