1st samsung, considering note4, noob questions .) - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all note4 users
considering note 4 - to get as new phone
why note - because of spen
why note4 - because easy qi charging, replaceable battery, sd card, maybe because of IR
the question is (for now) - are there any disadvantages of using root on note 4 ?
i know advantages, but dunno if i dont get something wrong when i root the phone ?
i mean disfunction of some spen apps - i will use spen for all wacom advantages, not only as finger replacement.
thx for answers
and second one - which "smart"watch u use with note 4?
thx again
sorry for my english

Disadvantages of root is, loss of warranty, even if u flash the stock rom, u will never reclaim it.
Other than that, there is no disadvantage.
i use moto 360 2nd gen.

thx for answer
and u use any other rom or stock ?

I see on others threads with custom roms sot is 3-4.5h.
But me with stock(non-rooted) get 4.5-5.5h sot.
I will root and flash custom after 6.0.1,if samsung dont update tw with theme engine and new camera api

An important disadvantage when rooting is the loss of the Knox container

ok, last 2 phones to consider - note 4 or lumia 950xl
what i want : wireless charging (i know note4 has not native)
good photo camera
replaceable battery
bonuses of android: root, have a lot of payed apps, ofc the reason for note - spen
bonuses of wm: new of (for me) - "native" run (no java vm)
something new to learn, iris scanner
continuum ? (i know it is cannot run native x86 apps), but is it advantage ?
so..what u think its better for me ?
thx for answers

Go for Lg g5 or lg v10, Note 4 has aged now.

Unless you need to root your device, because you work as a sofware developer and need your device to be root so you can take advantage of those abilities. You don't need to root your device. As stated before it will void your manufacturers warrenty on your device.
I got my Note 4 N910C shortly after the SGS6 series was released and after the Note 5 specs were released. I have absolutely no regrets in getting it as it will probably last me a good few years before I need to upgrade.

in country i live is N910F, but root is what i want...

Until Samsung release another Note series with replaceable battery Note 4 is your only choice considering you want S-Pen & replaceable battery.
Note 4 is still a good device & now the price has dropped quite a lot.

Comparing to the G5 yes it has aged. Comparing to the V10? Oh no it didn't, Note 4 still has better performance than the V10.

Note 4 is the only phone I have had for more than a year, does everything I need and more, and for the age it still performs great

It's a great phone but a huge disadvantage that has not been mentioned is its stock dpi.
It ships with 640 dpi as default which makes the GUI incredibly huge and annoying. You can use adb to change it, but most stock apps do not scale with a custom dpi.

On dpi, I guess it totally depends on user preference. For me 640 dpi is best as i don't like small fonts which are hard to read. With small fonts I have to wear my reading glass every time.

ok, i order note 4
now i need to have look at case and glass .)

I hope you will enjoy your new toy when it arrives!

Disadvantage is you miss most of spen functionality in CM roms, otherwise TW customs roms are good.

i hope i will
u know how it is
to root or not to root ? dont know if i need knox...but.. i think i need warranty
i dont want another rom - i want use spen features ) but i think there will be nova launcher... we will see what it can do when it comes
but i need root for some applications and some customizations.)
ok..there is a lot of alternative apps for almost same functionality without root..but not all
and neeed/really want QI charger - any tip for "best one" but not those which make a lot of heat - functional with another case .)

Lol true. There's absolutely no point in decreasing DPI after a certain limit. Most think that it's great, but you can bet that all of them have to shrink their eyes a bit to adjust to their small DPI, or keep the phone closer than before to your eyes, I'm talking about people with near perfect to perfect vision.
And Note 4 I think has actually decreased the stock DPI in comparison with Note 3. 640 should be near perfect fort most people, I use 600 anyway, and this is where I don't have to shrink my eyes, or put on my glass, or make any alterations in comparison with stock DPI. Love your eyes, not the more screen area.
And there's App Settings of Xposed with which you can restore the Samsung's stock apps' DPI to default, while keeping a lower valued DPI system wide.

Keep dreaming. I don't see a Note 5 with replaceable battery in a near future. Note6 will probably have Expandable storage but thats it.

Decision: Note 3 v. Galaxy S V

Hi all... I'm a long-time lurker, first-time poster. I want to thank you for all your help and analysis in smartphones.
I had a Galaxy S 4 for so long, and I'm stuck with the tough decision of choosing between a Note 3 or waiting a few more weeks for the SV.
I consider myself a power user, and I think the stylus is really cool. Do the new perks of the SV outweigh the features of the Note 3?
I'm a business professional, so the Note 3 does have that appeal--but I'm concerned that many people don't end up even using the stylus.
Your thoughts are appreciated. PS, I'm sorry if I've posted this in the wrong forum.
Shoot... I just read Jonny's sticky about questions... sorry mods. Please move this to the Q&A forum.

I just came from getting my Note 3, I sold my Xperia Z1 to get this, I like this phone, looks cool, and is fluid but I need to root and put a custom rom, I hate the bloatware, also I want a few tweeks, the phone its great, for me it just need a few tweek, S5 is nothing from other world, I think that some guys here will port some stuff from S5 to Note3, so i will say go for the Note 3, its almost the same, note 3 has 3GBs of ram instead of 2.

Cool, thanks for your opinion. I agree that 3GB is better than 2GB. I wonder if the processor specs of the SV are that much better than the Note 3.

Note 3 owns every other phone out there. 3gb RAM. Period.
S4 and S5 are jokes comparatively.

Believe me when I say that Snapdragon 800 is enough, and 801 is just a variant with a few tweeks.
The USB 3.0 it is great, the phone charges faster and the baterry is great same as Z1.
And im not an artist and my handwriting sucks but I use it a few times, also the apps for the pen are cool, this is my first day with the note, the only thing I hate is knox, i want to root so bad.

Note 3. I've owned it for almost 5 months now.
Although I don't use the stylus a lot, the phone itself is very fluid. The only downside I see is its camera in low light conditions. I'm quite sure the S5 wont be that much of an improvement even though they say its heaps and bounds better than the s4, with how samsung does its business recently, I'm skeptical.
So yeah, 3 GB > 2 GB. Fingerprint scanner? Heartrate scanner? Slightly better camera. Nah, the functionalities of the stylus still is more beneficial than those things.
Also 33% increase in price for the S5 than note 3 doesnt appeal to me
I had the same dilemma,
I took Note 3 and I'm glad, perfect device for everyday office work, watching movies, for social networks etc.
updated my N3 to KitKat and need to say, that battery life on 4.3 was better but it might be my impression only,
but anyway: very good device,
The S5 is a lesser device compared to the Note 3.
It has less RAM, smaller screen, no Spen... The only thing it has is a fingerprint scanner and 3MP more in the camera.
As for the heartrate scanner, this one works on the Note 3 and the results match my pulse meter: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.runtastic.android.heartrate.lite
I wouldn't even consider the S5.
S5 is basically a smaller Note 3 with a slightly improved camera sensor and less ram. So size is really the biggest practical difference, since I don't think you'll have problems with 2GB ram.

Note 3 is cheaper. And better. Did I mention that it's cheaper? And better? I don't think I said that it's cheaper and better yet.
Go for a note 3 I'd say. The s5 is really lackluster when it comes to features. The note 3 is the only phone next to the note 2 I've owned that allows me to not use my pc so much. It's an all in one media device that just works.
Sent from my SM-N9005 beast of a phone.
Just close your eyes and buy note 3. I can guarantee you that you will have happy face. Also for the reasons you have mentioned, note series is for you. Stylus is really functional for those who know how it works
Once you move to note series, you probably won't ever go back to S series. Just one advice is that try to find on a cheaper price as you might have to move to note 4 later this year
The specs are better, and so is the price. The n9005 wins easily

Note 3 pros:
-3GB RAM
-Higher storage options
-S Pen
-Bigger screen
S5 pros:
-Water and dust resistance.
-Better camera (heaps ahead according to some camera shots)
-Heart rate sensor and a fingerprint sensor
-Better UI (although this might come with an update or get ported)
-Faster processor (not by much but faster)
-Smaller screen but with better PPI
So, it really depends, look at the benefits of both models carefully and get what suits you more.
I got a Note 3 because I'm sticking to the Note line from now, my upgrade will be the Note 4.
Right now i have note 3- it is great phone but why is from plastic. I was paid over 500 pounds. Now after few moths start scratching. I was hope the next s5 will be from premium material but isn't and I disappointed. My new phone will be xperia z2 or HTC ONE M8. This is just my opinion.

Because most metal bodies on phones cause problems. You can't replace the battery. They scratch and scuff way more than plastic. The money you paid was for what's inside, not what's outside.

I highly recommend the note 3 over any other phone. The s5 is the best phone of "normal " proportions (alongside the nexus 5) but you won't get a phone that compares to the note 3 until the note 4 surfaces.

My N2 for a Nexus 5

My brother bought a Nexus 5 and he doesn´t like it. He said if I want we can change (my note 2 for his Nexus 5) and despite the bovious prices difference what you do in my place? I am very satisfied with my Samsung and will put a new rom to give a extra live (it has official 4.4.2).
Thanks and sorry for my bad english

If you can compromise with battery life and screen size then go for it. Snapdragon 800 will blow your mind. Camera is also not that great in N5 but it'll do the job just right.
I say go for it.
I don't know if that is a good idea, I'd keep the Note. You can't really compare these 2 devices in terms of Performance. N5 runs stock, N2 runs TouchWiz. Stock Android is and will always be buttery smooth. TouchWiz can also be quite smooth and that stuff but yeah, it is a skin of Android which might be not so smooth and fast all the time but with KitKat, it's pretty fast.
N5 has a really small battery and the Note 2s battery blows the N5 out of the way. N5s display is LCD and the N2 has a SAMOLED Display but lower PPI but anyways, think twice, seriously. I had the Nexus 4 for 2 months and I missed my Note 2 so much, the Nexus 4 was really crap compared to the Note.
Just my 2 cents.
Gesendet von meinem GT-N7100 mit Tapatalk
Never ever, cause Nexus may be fast, smooth and other pleasant things, but in fact and from my point of view: BORING
You can have pure Android experience on Note 2 too (AOSP-roms), but you'll never feel the flexibility of having S5, Note 3 features or even Note 2 S-Pen on a Nexus.
If someone would donate me a Nexus I would sell it to even get a second N2.
Thanx for the answers; it´s really hard to decide and the phones can´t be compared. The only way to both be satisfied that I can think now is, I change with him, sell the nexus and buy a note 3... Here in Souht America the prices are very different (almost twice the price for a nexus 5 new to one used N2).
Ok i own a galaxy nexus right now, about nexus devices being boring is a fact they are, but when that happens u just swap your rom, this week i will have my note 2 back, however i will not sell galaxy nexus for now
The advantages
galaxy nexus
always updated,
butter smooth,
a lot of customization,
The disadvantages
no memory card,
recovery problems, cause of internal storage(once i ve done a full wipe and i had no rom on it, a big mess)
note 2
big screen (major advantage)
battery
sdcard
disadvantages
serious software problems(SDS)
my final veredict is, if you are a flashoolic and u just love custom roms, go for a nexus(of course you will have to say goodbye to battery and screen) if u just dont like to flash roms that much and u seek more for watch moovies or play hd games stick with the note,
keep also in mind that u can sell the nexus and buy a note 3 with some more money

Kindly disagreed:
SDS is mostly a myth and overrated (whenever phone freezes, people start crying about SDS)
I can port nearly every device on Note 2 but no Touchwiz rom on a nexus (just take a look around Dev forum and my signature).
So, for flashoholics like me there is only Note.

Respectfully disagreed,
I am a regular follower of XDA and some sites and flash many things just even to try sometimes. I also get bored easily with regular software and like to try new ways of using the phone.
If you like to use Note 2 "as is" then it is still a great phone (even greater than some newer phones). However trying new things with that phone is not about discovering what's new on the developers' world, instead it is mostly about "trying a new cure"..
I recently updated my Note 2 to 4.4.2 and then broke my warranty out of curiosity. TW KitKat is really good for people who are looking for a good phone. But then I went for Paranoid Android. The next thing I was looking for to flash was a camera cure because of the problematic camera. After that got solved, now my WiFi is not turning on without a restart and there is not even one person who mentions it on the main topic (I will, but...). In addition to that there is very low volume problem of the sound recording (whether it be a video or just voice) and there is no solution to this either.
I had bought a Nexus 4 and given my Note 2 to my sister. After 5 months she wanted my Nexus and offered my Note 2 back. I couldn't say no cause she really wanted it. Now I have two data coming from two different persons, one is a flashocolic and the other is just a user who likes iPhones etc. The one thing in common is that they both prefer the Nexus.
Because there is really a solution to everything on the Nexus world, software-wise. But here, on Note 2's world, it's like yesterday that the devs were reprehending people with complaints by saying "do it yourself if you can!!!" out of the anger to Samsung not sharing sources.
There is solution to Nexus battery problems too (you could call that a problem only after a Note). Just buy a power bank and you'll get even more battery time than a Note.
On the camera wise, Note 2 is really good. I believe that is the only thing without a solution for a Nexus device. A Nexus sometimes can match with Note 2's camera but never outdo it.
For every other thing you want or you might wanna have in the future, a Nexus is a better and more open possibility..

so please dont tell me that sds doesn't exist, "i had nightmeers about it ahah"
now im getting my note 2 after a Motherboard replacement.
and whats this and this
I do not want to convince anybody. It is only my point of view at the beginning of developing own roms and the possibilities with this ancient device are still outstanding. Certainly better is the Note 3 and the upcoming Note 4.
My dream is Xperia Z2 on Note 2 with S-Pen features and hopefully soon...... :fingers-crossed:

I am supporting on several forums and in many languages and I have seen SDS in realty.
BUT and that is also true: If thousand users ask, if they maybe have SDS cause device seems to die, always freezes, bootloops aso. there is not even one who really suffers from that issue.
And at last your links to Sammy roms on Nexus: You can't be serious to compare that kind of stuff with the abilities of S-Pen.
Kind regards

REALLY!?!?
THIS IS A DEVICE FROM 2011 with these specs
can u tell me what was the first device receiving a port on htc sense 6?
well let's see if note 2 gets first android L than galaxy nexus?
i'm not triyng to convince anybody either, i'm just seiing things as they are, and note 1,2 and 3 are devices with remarcable specs on hardware, but in therms of updates and customization u know who rules.
I have my N2 for about a year and half, and never ever been in trouble with it: good battery life, specs and apps, but to tell the truth I use the s-pen just a few days... It´s like new in this moment as I recently installed the DN3 (awesome rom).
Please, who has the Nexus 5, what is the estimated time of battery (use my N2 without bluetooth disbled only and supports a entire day) and what can be done to enhance it?

lets hope so, i will get mine this week
That´s right, the community of N2 is strong and with no doubt we will have the Android L... Well, let´s study about this negociation N2 x N5...
I guess I am losing some arguements here..
For those who believe S Pen is on top of the "advantages list", that 1024 different pressure senser is only functioning for some of the Samsung built-in apps and an all called Papyrus (as far as I know). Besides, as a person who losev to draw/sketch (and take notes with hand writing) I have now 2 options; a Nexus 7 with bigger screen and a good touch-pen (which can be bouth seperately from anywhere) or my Note 2 with a special pen but also with a smaller screen. I ca nassure you, bigger screen has the advantage here so IF you are into professioanal drawing with all the bells and whisles of that pen either buy a pen and touch-mat set for your laptop or get a Note 10.1. Note 2 (or any 5.x " sized place ) is only suitable for small sketches and hand writing notes which gives nothing to the pressure differentiation. So, basicly it's a feature and it's there. Of course I am note taking it as an disadvantage, but it's not a choice changer.
For those who picks the battery life as a winner; that is definetely true. If you want all your time in one housing any Note phone is a way to go. But if we are calculating the total volume, than a regular phone with an external battery or powerbank would be almost same.
For those who enjoy the big screen and out ir on top of the list; now that's unique. however it's hard to write with one hand -say, on the bus- no matter how big your hands are. And when you are confortable to use the dervice in any way you like, only than the screen size comes as an advantage. But -like in the pen situation- if yo reallty want a bigger screen, this is just a big phone, not a tablet.
One more thing with the screen, it's one of the best screens Samsung has ever made. But today every brand is giving bigger screens to their devices and the colors are much better on most of other phones. Please don't tell me AMOLED is the future with it's super blacks of infinite contrasts etc. Any Xperia screen, or any of he last 2 Nexuses have better screens and much more accurate color reproduction. Even though Samsung has given us 4 scenerios to choose, there is no "true" color choice there. And there is no true whites on that screen. So, black is just one color (which Samsung also fails to give us, look carefully and most of you'll notice that blacks are not same everywhere on the screen) to brag, but all the other colors are unrealistic.
For those who wants to give the credit to the Wolfson sound chip, now that's correct Nothing to say here. Quallcomm is just getting warmt with their new SoCs on the music busniess and we all know HTC's afforts are mostly for advertising.
And also the camera, maybe the best of it's time. Sadly it is bought from Sony but all the camera software and HAL is completely re-written by Samsung and not shared to the public. So any AOSP ROM lovers has to deal with problems on the camera (I believe, the devs that made to this far created a miracle, not thanks to SAmsung of course)
And about ROM porting; IF TouchWiz is so good why need for porting frıom other ROMs? AOSP is so "empty" for some people so they port other ROMs to Nexus phones or they create AOSP for other phones so they can be clean and open. But why port Xperie and Sense ROMs to a TouchWiz based and un-shared device? I guess deep down we all know, no matter how much goodness it contains inside, TouchWiz will make everyone bored and feel unprofessional?
And the Samsung build quality, I wish there was a way to ignore this.
Please don't misunderstand me. I love my Note 2. It would be an incredebly better and longer lifed device if Samsung shared more about it. But I don't see ant of its features as unique and irreplacable. And Nexus 5 has a bigger family with an easier life for an average XDA follower (or for just a curious person)
Probably will change the devices until wednesday and return to post my impressions. As my brother wish a lot since I buy the N2 and the difference in prices here I can´t say no. In last scenary I´ll sell or change the N5 for another phablet... thanks to everyone who asked and post comments.
I'll take N5 if I were you because I prefer stock!:good:
take the N5, sell it, buy another N2, keep the profit.
dude i have both nexus 5 and note 2(both active usage) with kitkat
FOR ME ,i love the nexus 5
nexus 5 is more compact,light ,performance beast,nice and fast ui,quick updates,high res screen without oversaturated tones,nice camera(with hdr+)
BUT
if battery life is really what you need then go for note2 ..i get about 22hrs-23hrs of usage with a bit less than 3hrs screen ontime with nexus 5
with note 2 i get just a bit less than 2 days with the same usage
but nexus 5 has heating issues
note 2 has expandable memory which might be a big deal for some people(me),and much louder speaker, big screen size
...go with n5 but if u need battery, expandable storage, and s-pen..and lag then go for note2

Anyone own a Note 4 Clone?

From reviews online ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Djrc6HLUpTA&feature=youtu.be ) they seem pretty good.
$170 is not even comparable to $900 or w/e the going price is right now. Anyone have one?
i bought it from dhgate for $160 incl shipping.
i like it. its jellybean with quad mediatek cpu (1/2 speed of note 4).
but it works great.

So the fake is half the speed on the real thing? Thats pretty good for the price difference.
Display Resolution: 1280x720
ROM: 8GB (Show 32GB in the phone)
RAM: 1GB (will show 3GB,Available 1GB)
You are probably better off getting a note 2 or something...

I ordered a fake should be here in 2-3 days. Will see if I made a mistake or not.
it shows real values if you enable it.
*#*#9228#*#* for fake control/engineering menu.
Framaroot will root it.
Anyone willing to try it out?
We should see what happens when the clone is rooted! I wonder if it messes up the phone! :silly:
nothing. its a stock jellybean with a note 4 theme on top. if you root the fake iphone 6 you will also see the same thing.
Can someone run a benchmark?

OK if you want a low end big phone, however the efficiency of the components and the battery will be poor. The screen will be low grade and bare in mind that these people are still making money. For me it's false economy and not worth it.
The radiation are high on the clone version of Note 4, it is bad for you if you want to use it for your daily phone haha. But I guess it is great for a person who cannot afford a note 4 if they just want to have the look for note 4.
radiation ? its a cheap ass 3G jellybean clone phone. hardly any radiation and hardly any power emissions. the battery is only 2000mah and it stays on longer than the actual note 4.
Got the phone and here are my impressions.
1. Root was easy and works the way it does
2. Battery lasts all day with minimal use
3. Responsive screen, the same as my note 1 if I am not mistaken.
4. The antutu it comes installed with is fake and puts your score over 20,000. Uninstalled it and reinstalled a legit version and get a score of 19000.
5. Camera works great, gps works great, finger print lock works.
Any other questions I can answer? Lets just say for $170 I am super happy. I get a stylish device that works fairy well and is much better than my note 1 i717.
Oh I forgot to mention that air gestures work as well which was a big surprise actually.
yep and the air gestures work better than the original note 4 lol.

Wow that is actually a surprise or are just joking? I cant really tell lol because its hard to believe that the clone has something better than the original.
Does anyone know if the LED case works with the clone?

yes really. dont you have a note 4 you can try it on ? samsung has removed a lot of the air gesture stuff from the note 4.
anyway, doubt the LED case will work - the pinouts and OS and samsung drivers are missing. i dont have an LED case to try on both so not 100% sure but i doubt it will work.
also the fingerrprint reader does not work - its a fake BTW.

Wait the fingerprint reader is fake? How sure are you? When I set a lock I can unlock it but nobody else can.
yep its fake. it just measures the direction of the swipe not the fingerprint. try swiping with your other fingers and it will unlock. or ask someone else to swipe the same way you do.

Is the Note 4 the best upgrade from a Note 2?

My Note 2 has served me well, but it's time to move on. The screen shows signs of burn in, and applications frequently crash due to (likely) faulty memory. Clearing the cache helps, but it's not something I want to do daily.
I'm looking for a similar phone with a pen/stylus, replaceable battery and mSD card support. Is the Note 4 the only option? Other than having a phone with no faults, what are expected to be the main benefits if I upgrade, and are there any regressions/drawbacks to consider?
Thanks!
wait a few weeks and see what the Note 7 have to offer ( it wont have removable battery though )
definately Note 7 - waterproof, with decent camera and audio, superb screen, sd card and many many more. I migrated to Note4 (DN5) from N3 and I'm waiting also for n7 as n5 is a crap (or beta version )
Lack of replaceable battery makes the Note 7 a non starter. When travelling I frequently use the phone for many hours without charging (on-foot navigation; tripadvisor etc) and I need it to be completely dependable. With a replaceable battery I just pop a new one in and I'm good for the rest of the day. I tried using a portable charger in the past, and hated how unwieldy it was compared to just spending 10 seconds to replace the battery.
The LG Stylus 2 Plus looks somewhat comparable to the Note 4 and is newer (Android 6, touch fingerprint reader), but seems to have a more limited stylus and lacks a physical home button (which I like very much in the Samsung, but I'm not sure lack of it is a deal breaker).
Thoughts?
Edit: Man, this promotional video from LG is good!
2 august is the day!!!

What happens on August 2?
If you are on a budget then yes the Note 4 is a worthy upgrade from a Note 2. As it's the last in Samsung's flagship line that had a removable battery. However if you have the cash to spend, wait and get the Note 7.
The Note 7 doesn't fit my requirements, regardless of cost (no replaceable battery). It seems I need to decide between the Note 4 and the much newer LG Stylus 2 Plus.

Yap.
My vote is for Note 4.
It`s really an awesome device.
I`m using this one for last one year without any issue.
Excellent Display.
Removable Battery.
Expandable Memory.
Good XDA Dev support.
Stock MM really gives good battery backup.

Yeah, the LG Stylus 2 Plus is a rather poor spec device. You are much better getting the Note 4 instead of that! As the stylus used in the LG Stylus 2 is just a regular capacitive stylus that you can get at any high street retailer.
Ok, so I'm probably getting a Note 4 later this week. A few questions to make sure I'm making the right decision:
1. Is it easy to root?
2. Do I need to worry about Knox?
3. Can I use it worldwide without an issue (roaming)? I've had no issues at all in this regard with my Note 2.
4. I can get the N910C variant for less money than the N910F. Is there any significant difference between the two? Note that I don't play games on my phone.
Thanks!
Edit: I can also get the Galaxy Note Edge SM-N915F for the same price as the N910F. It seems pretty cool, but getting a TPU case for it (which I like) seems to be impossible. Such cases are very easy to fine for the Note 4 and usually cost only a couple of bucks.
The N910C is much more stable than the N910F as the N910C uses the Exynos 5433 SOC rather than the Snapdragon 805 in the N910F. You can root it pretty easily both the N910C and F models have excellent worldwide coverage with the exception of specific US carriers.
It is possible to get TPU cases for the Note Edge I've seen them online.
When you say the N910C is much more stable do you mean the N910F tends to crash / freeze, or something else?
Bought the Note Edge eventually. I love almost everything about it, but there are some senseless regressions on the software side:
- No way to display Favorites (contacts) as a list. The thumbnail-based display uses tiny text for names and has them truncated.
- No way to display Apps as a list. The grid display is much slower to browse because the eye has to go in different direction to follow the correct alphabetization.
- Dialer log does not support long-press menu anymore. Makes it more difficult to add a number to the reject list or favorites.
Why cripple things that used to work so well?

Congrats mate.
Hope you`re enjoying your new device.
Best of luck.

Overall I do enjoy it. Hopefully I can find solutions for these relatively minor annoyances.

The Note 4 is great. Since you have no interest in the Note 7, then you'll be completely fine with the N4. I upgraded from a Galaxy S5 and it feels like a completely new phone even though it released a long time ago. Marshmallow breathes new life into it.

Exactly. It's an amazing device

HI all........confused

Hi all,
I'm confused and very hesitant about upgrading , I have a note 4 and like I said I'm very hesitant and reluctant to upgrade because I don't want to be a slave to a charger.....this is the number one reasons I hate Iphones besides not being able to expand the memory you can't switch out the battery, and you become as I stated a slave to a charger. Also I want to know if you are rooted & running the latest software does it make a difference what device you have?
I know a friend of mine who has an s6 and I know one who has a note 5 their constantly charging it because the battery is constantly dying. can anyone tell me why I should upgrade to a note 5 if I cant expand the memory?
Can anyone tell me weather I'm doing the right thing, Or can anyone tell me anything to rest aside my fears concerning upgrading. & tell me is it at all worth it to do?
......thanks

Keep your Note 4 or don't. Ask your self, what do you want?
Note 5 for me would be a downgrade. To be able to change battery is a must. Same with SD-Card.
If i'm not mistaken Note 5 have a camera that is a bit less than Note 4.
You can root with stock kernel and have the exact same battery you have now.
If you use a custom ROM then it's a trail and error to see if you get worse or better battery time.
If you ask me, keep your Note 4. It's a wonderful phone.

Do not upgrade to a Note 5. The Note 4 is way better of a phone! Period! I don't know about the S6 or S7.
If you want to upgrade, do your research.
Edit, This phone is the greatest in my eyes. The new flagships might have faster cpu and ram. But just think about what you personally use your phone for. Unless your running some serious power software or powerful new game that can't hold up on this phone, then why? We got decent cpu, gpu, Ram. They screen display is awesome. Replaceable battery, ext sd, remote control.
So you have to ask yourself, what real benefit will you get from upgrading besides having a new phone.
If your bored with its looks, maybe flash a new Rom.
Hope this helps!

Yes
Just think what option/feature you don't have right now with your Note 4? Decent processor and RAM, GPU also, fantastic screen - not small, but not too big too, expandable storage, removable battery, S-pen, IR blaster, good camera... For those who are willing to sold their kidney for the latest phone with "greatest" camera I can suggest to spend about 500-600€ for a good real DSLR and the rest for a decent phone. That way picture quality will be unmeasurable with any phone and for the rest of the money one can get decent phone.
Only downside of keeping the Note 4 (if you don't want to play with custom ROMs and want to keep with stock ROM) is Samsung's bad habit to abandon any device as soon as the production is over. But you can sign a petition to Samsung for stock Android 7 here https://www.change.org/p/samsung-sa...97a-b3ea-0c82b26917e6?source_location=minibar I already sign. 850 people too. The fact is that I really do not expect any reaction from Samsung, but worth to try.
In a near future I will not sell my Note 4
