Just curious. I have about decided that Paranoid Android is going to be my rom of choice for my Nexus 7. Looking to see what kernel everyone is running and which one they think is best.
I've been using trinity for a few days with that paranoid and it has been working brilliantly, the battery life is excellent, very quick, and any instability I can definitely credit towards my inexperienced tinkering

You can use the Franco Kernel, or otherwise (my favourite) Faux ES Kernel!
Careful with faux123 014b1/014b1es kernels

I also love faux123 kernels, especially 013m (or 013es if battery life is an issue). USB OTG charging works if enabled in FauxClock, very stable. However, 014b1/b1es freezes if Bluetooth is enabled and BT device connects.
Hope it helps.
Running M-Kernel - a29 here. Been trying out a few for the past couple days. Best advice I can give you: play with each one for a while and makes some notes of how your device feels with each kernel.
Also, check out this thread if you haven't already: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889571
ever process is different and hence react differently to kernels, try and test for urself thats the only way ull know for sure.
and for average scoring for battery and benchmarks i suggest visiting this thread

Which kernel would increase speed and numbers in quadrant standard?

This. There is no such animal as an across the board best kernel.

I see a lot of lag and complete lockups on my Nexus 7. The only kernel I haven't seen this on is m-kernel. Just my 2 cents.

KTManta vs Franco
and which ROM is the best, pro n con please.
sorry, im really new at this.
Well, neither are a ROM, and neither are best or worse. It is all about what you are looking for in a kernel
Troll thread? There are stickies if you're being serious.
Each thread respective to the developer will have a summary of their kernels.
Pros and cons can be read in the threads as both are fairly new for the Nexus 10. You won't have to read too many.
I'm using KTmanta as it doesn't give me reboots on kaos rom. I was on Franco on PA but the instability was too much.

It all depends on your specific needs. I use RasSaber + franco.Kernel, but I can't say it's the best (I haven't tested every other ROM/Kernel combination) or if it'll be the best for you. I prefer minimal customizations with speed, but others want customization and speed, others just customization, etc.
Yea they are all great kernel, it is just a matter of finding what you feel is best for you. I mean I jump around between all three kernels of Trinity, KTmanta, and Franco love using them all and I bought their apps. Each one offer something different, but in the end it all depends on how it is for you. As for me I went back to KTmanta from Franco using CarbonRom. There is no best just what is good to you.
Hey guys, I recently bought a Nexus 4 (I will get it tomorrow, but will have to wait more for screen protectors and case) and coming from an Xperia T it's like I'm a kid in a candy shop; all those kernels and ROMs, my head is spinning.
So my plan is to enjoy stock Android for 15 minutes and then root/unlock the device right away. Now, couple questions for you guys:
1, I've seen some Linaro builds of both ROMs and kernels here and there. Does it speed up the phone much? Does it make it worse (see: overheating)? Also, I don't know if I can run a stock toolchain ROM with a Linaro kernel or vice versa. How about that?
2. Regarding the kernels, I'll never stick to stock so will change to a custom one. I heard faux's and franco's (remember the latter from his very first release on the Optimus One ) are the best ones on the market and they both have customization apps. Now for what I've seen, faux's kernel provides more customization on the app, but don't know how does it perform in real-life situations, nor I do with franco's (altough I tend to prefer this one for the per-app settings). Could you guys give me some informations about this?
Thanks a lot

1. 4.2.2 ROMs and Kernels are inteechangable. You can use any kernel with any ROM, even the stock one. However, with 4.3 , you have to match the build number of the ROM with the kernel type.
Sidenote : The Nexus 4 does not normally overheat. The glass gets warm because it's a good heat conductor, and pulls the heat out. Don't worry about it.
2. While Franco seeks to be the perfect balance between performance and battery life, faux gives you a choise: either performance or battery life, or both, in a balanced way.
I was in a similar situation as you are about a week ago. I came from a Galaxy Nexus and couldn't wait for my Nexus 4 to arrive. I too spent a lot of time in the Development forum trying to figure out which ROM would work well for my needs. In the past, I have never run stock Android. However, that was before the launch of 4.3.
Right now, I am still running stock (a whole week later!) and am really enjoying the smooth experience. With root, I can use Xposed framework to implement the few mods that I like.
Overall, I am very happy with the device. I'd give stock a try - at least a day or two, and see if it meets your needs as well.
Thanks all, I'll give both a shot. I'll give stock a shot too. First days will flash ROMs on ROMs and I will find the stablest for me
Sorry, but this is "what is the best rom/kernel" thread. Try them out for yourself and see what works for you. You mentioned some of them so just flash them first and see how they work, they're free. Personally I like franco and semaphore kernels, Neo is a good kernel for performance too, for roms I stick to the big names like CM, AOKP, SlimRoms and Paranoid.
Hey Bytecode,
Try slimbean, you probably remeber popdog's slimbean for p500, it is 10% of real slimbean on good device You will not need any custom kernel with it.
What custom ROM you use. And why?

CM13.
I have multiple devices, I need the user experience to be consistent across them, and usually the only ROM these devices have in common is the latest CM. I don't care about features, camera or such, even battery life can be just okay (I had a Nexus 4 as my daily driver whose battery had shrunk to a measly 1500mAh, yet I'm generally alright with it).
I also build CM on my own machine every month so that I can take control of the ROM itself once I have the time to learn ROM development. This is a factor you won't consider, of course.

try them and find out what one you like. doesnt matter what we like. everyone has a different opinion and will say this one or that one is best.
when you try them, you will find which is best for you.
these type of post are mostly useless, and commonly frowned upon on xda.
I've tried many and found Pure Nexus and Chroma to be the best.

Did you do a clean flash by wiping system and data?
So far i have tried cataclysm and chroma. cataclysm didn't seem like smooth compare to stock and chroma so i am using chroma right now. Main reason i am using custom rom over stock is that i want my notification sound and ringer to be separated and advance power menu.
I'm using PureNexus and like how i can do some customization. I want to try other roms, but till I grow more confident about switching between traditional root and systemless root will hold off a while
Hello guys, what is the most better, customized rom for nexus 6p?
Normally when it comes to Nexus roms, there is no real best ROM. Its all about what u want and don't want. Some are heavily customised, some are almost stock, some come with fancy kernels, etc. But all of them have some small bugs, nothing to keep most form calling them a daily driver, but some. The ones with the least bugs and quicker development are normally the most replied. But just do a backup and try them for yourself. That's what most people will tell u.

I started out with Screw'd rom with synapse and ak kernel (and the kernel updater) which I like very much. As of now I am sitting with the current Screw'd rom and beta testing the Nethunter 2.1 kernel. Loving it!

There is no best ROM, what's best is purely subjective and changes from user to user. These kinds of threads go nowhere, you'll just get a bunch of different opinions. What's best for you can only be decided by you via your own testing.
I was on pure Nexus for a few weeks...had to flash back to stock to get AirWatch mdm to work.
Since then I rooted and am just going stock with Xposed. GravityBox plus a few other modules can do pretty much anything I needed a custom ROM to do.
Is stock with xposed n Franco working correctly?

Yeapp
Working flawlessly
Are there any ROMs currently developed in CAF?
I'm running Ubermallow ROM and R23 Kylo Kernel.
Smooth, stable, and using the built in Kernel auditor I use Barry-Allen and Despair governors for battery life that lasts for days. My favorite set up for sure :good:
I'm using Chroma and FK with Xposed as my daily driver and cannot be happier at this time with the combo
Dang, Xposed and Franco...I'm very happy with the 6P stock as is. But that sounds nice. Xposed and any of those good kernels.

Hello everyone,
After weeks of reading & seeing tests and videos about Nexus 6P, I'm now thinking about buying one.
I've got the International Exynos Galaxy note 3 for two years now, with the CM12.1, it did the job until now, but it got old.
My question is : what's the best rom (custom or stock) for the Nexus 6p? I want the smoothest rom, with a good battery life (I don't care if it's odexed or deodexed)
P.S : I live in algeria, we dont have 4g, Project FI, Google Now...etc

There is no better ROM.
Similar to me saying that's the best phone, or best car. There is no answer because with choice comes preference and opinion..no one can tell you what you need to know.
Also didn't think these threads were allowed on XDA?
Personally using beanstalk and its been decent.
So has pure, resurrection, screwd and I've heard good things about the others.
All very similar to be honest.

I came note series myself and the last one was the note 5. But due to disappointments around overall speed and smoothness of note 5 considering it has more eye watering specs than the nexus 6p, I settled for a nexus 6p. Usually with samsung I always had to use custom roms and kernel in order to get some better performance out of it. Am pleased to say with nexus 6p I still haven't installed a custom rom and kernel because this phone is fast out of the box. Try stock first and if you feel you need more power then go custom.
