I have recently noticed that the lock screen is effectively broken on the international roms 133 and 152. I don't know about 103. But you cannot change the lock screen wallpaper, theme, or receive any notifications on the lock screen at all running the international ROM. If you had a different experience, please let us know.
Also, the international version of this ROM is missing the "show detailed notification info" and "notifications turn on screen" options that the Chinese ROM had. The odd thing is, though, if you search for the settings, the search shows the results, but brings you to a page where the option should be, but isnt. Anyone have any clue how we may be able to get those options back? Something that can be done with root, perhaps?
huh, interesting, just checked on my B133 international rom on my AL10 phone and its just as youve described: i can find the settings via search but when i go to the linked subsection, those settings dont actually show up! never noticed that before...
which firmware version are u on? maybe updating to B152 could help in this case...

These options are under Lockscreen & Password (translated from Italian) on my L29 B152.

I do, actually. Odd though, they showed up with the original Chinese software on the device.
So, now I am noticing... I actually don't get any lock screen notifications at all.
Edited the thread title to better reflect the bug occurring here...
B152, have the options, can change wallpaper and themes and receiving notifications on lockscreen. Only with the theme back light notifications didn't work.

Sure appears that way. Must be an easy fix, though, just over my head as far as what files needed editing.
I can modify all setting related to lock screen (at least on B152)
Simply access them using these steps:
- make sure lock screen is active (you just pressed power button)
- swipe from the bottom to the top
- in the menu poped go to settings.
Voila.

Are you on an AL10 device? Do the settings not show if you try and access them through the normal method like they don't for us? I am back on the chinese rom now, so I cant test.
Edit: I went back to the intl version of the ROM and did not have the options he described. I do have those options on the chinese rom.
Iam on L29 and i am using B152 Rom without any custom change (no root, no bootloader unlock)

Not my personal opinion.
For me B152 is the best one.
Main reason is Battery drain that i experienced with b103 and fixed on b152. I have now 4 days uses and not much than 3-4 percent per night

So, I only have these options on the chinese ROM when I have the (magazine) lock screens set. I think the issue is that applying a lock screen theme in the international ROM doesn't work, so you can't apply the lock screen theme that would allow notifications, screen on, etc.
So, for now, I am back on the Chinese ROM. I rather have one thing broken (now on tap) vs a lot of things.
I experience the same problems (missing settings items), as described above. AND, very frustrating, also missing PhoneManager -so I basically cannot see battery stats, cannot set battery saving, modify notifications, and access applock.
Do You also miss PhoneManager? And; any fix on this problem?
Handset is an L29, on b152, presumably flashed by previous owner (sold to me as a new one, by ValueBasket)

intrigued by the phone and due to the fact that I'm an avid reader, I decided to go for it.
I'm still getting used to it but I've got two small annoying problems that I can't figure out if it's a device fault or else:
1) when two-finger typing, if I press two letters fast enough, it records it as a swipe gesture. Not a major thing, I can type slower than that, but it would be interesting to know if this is an issue specific with Lollipop or else.
2) I've enabled the pattern lock, but I can still unlock the phone without any pattern when sliding bottom-up the main screen. This is a bit more annoying, as when keeping the phone in the pocket it happens I get it unlocked by mistake and I thought the pattern lock would solve this.
Is this normal?

hey and thanks for the reply.
1) I do use the gesture typing/swype keyboard as well as normal typing. My previous Nexus 4 had no problems no matter the speed I'm typing at. It's just on the main screen the EPD works fine and I'm kinda getting used to its laggines.
2) this is totally odd.. are you on Lollipop as well?
1. You could test some other keyboard app which supports Swipe. Although that does sound a bit that the system can't keep up with your typing and is flooded with touch events.
2. Yes, I'm on Lollipop. For me the slide-up just turns on the screen, and I need to swipe up again for the pattern entry screen to show up. It must be some specific combination of settings.
There are features called "smart lock" in the security settings that can bypass the pattern lock under certain conditions, maybe your set up is glitching and it may be worth poking around in there to see if something is set up.

I currently have:
- screen lock: pattern
- lock second screen: on
- make pattern visible: off
- automatically lock: 5 secs unless kept unlocked by Smart Lock
- Power btn instantly locks: on
- Smart Lock: all off, but a very specific Sony speaker system
anything else that could impact this?

I'm at a loss then, could it be a rouge "trusted face"? Maybe a blank face is in there! when the camera is looking for a face to unlock there is a symbol at the bottom centre of the screen that looks like a person in a circle, when defected the symbol changes to an open padlock, are you seeing anything like this when you swipe up to unlock?

there's no symbol: I can unlock the device (with the pattern lock active) just by swiping the main screen from the bottom center, up.
Just like that, and there's no screen in between the "turned off" state and the "android desktop".
I've checked and there are no registered friendly-faces in the smart lock, on top of it being off.

That use to happen to me but I think you have to wait a bit then it will ask for pattern or pin when unlocking

Its not normal behaviour you are experiencing, if its still fairly new and you haven't got too much stuff loaded on so far.....maybe try a factory reset?

When I use the keyboard, in the bottom right there is a keyboard icon (It serves to switch the keyboard). When I swipe, I always press the icon with my thumb accidentally and I can´t write.
Is there any way to remove the icon from there?

Well i used to have the yotaphone 2 n the same pproblem happened in kitkat. they keyboard cant register quick types which is Gay! n it is horrible from Yotas side not to fix such a known problem.

I have a strange issue with my galaxy s4 i9505, lollipop. My clock get stuck when I lock my screen. And time does not update even when screen is unlocked i.e the clock starts from the same time when screen was locked. For example if I lock my screen at 10:00 am, and if after one hour I unlock the screen, the clock will start from 10:00 am instead of 11:00 am. I tried searching on the internet but I could not find any help regarding this. However there were discussion about the lag of one or two second about the time update when screen unlocks. Any ideas about this??

I had something a little similar, but it included all my widgets. are you using go launcher or a go product like next3d launcher ? the problem persisted thru different firmwares and launcher updates. I had to go into the launcher and stop it so that it would restart itself. sorry that I don't have a solution, I never got to the bottom of the issue, it simply stopped happening at some point and I'm not even sure why...

I am not using any go launcher or go product. All things/apps are default that come with lollipop.
So i just bought this phone, on the first the fingerprint works just fine, after i restart the phone i notice my phone cant be unlocked by fingerprint, it even only written "slide to unlock" before it was "slide or tap fingerprint to unlock" , then i check the setting menu, the fingerprint menu is gone, i have factory reset and hard reset the phone and its not helping at all, it seems like the fingerprint scanner is not detected or something, please anybody got idea?

You can remote unlock the phone via android manager online, this is a great way to access and unlock a device when you either have an issue like this or forget your password/ pin

Thanks for the reply, but actually the problem is not unlocking the phone, because i remember the pin, the main problem is why my Zenfone 3 seems like not detect my fingerprint scanner, you can see the screenshot, there should be a fingerprint menu, but now its gone. how is that possible and how do i fix it? its so annoying because fingerprint is the major feature which makes it a bit expensive.

I seriously don't know. If i were in that situation. I would backup all my data first. Then reset the phone to factory state. If it happens again. I would contact Asus. Or check their forums for a solution.

My Phone locked with ZenUI launcher (double-tap on screen) => can unlock with fingerprint.
When I use Nova Launcher => Lock phone (by double-tap on screen) => can not unlock with fingerprint!

For some reason i can use nova launcher prime and still able to use the fingerprint scanner. I even went as far as unintalled the Zen UI launcher.

Probably due to root access, mine is unrooted so fingerprint won't work with Nova. Installing dan configuring Screen Lock Pro will fix this, but have to wait 10 seconds after screen off to allow fingerprint unlock. Not so convinient.

Exactly, the convenience it brings is really great. Especially if you have a 25 character password lol. My password's too long for me to enter it all the time. And yes, maybe because of root access i'm able to do that

If not - have a try:
- open phone calculator (stock Asus) and type .12345+=
Pls note - no zero before the dot
- in the pop-up app, select single test, then fingerprint test.
If the test result is ok, your issue is software only. In contrary, it's a hardware failure.

I ran the test, fingerprint test went wrong.
So, in my case, it`s a hardware failure.

Just make sure it isn't hardware failure by running above mentioned hardware test. If the test suggests there is nothing wrong with hardware, then switch to swipe as unlock method first before setting up and returning to fingerprint unlock from scratch.
Mine is having problem like this.
Hardware test says it is working well but when I tried to register print no response at all.
Tried the pattern lock method as well but no luck.

It's happened to me also. I have done the test (.12345+= in calculator) and it said "something wrong with fingerprint test". For this case i'll contact Asus. It's really weird why so many people having same problem like this. Actually my device has been used for only no more than 3 months. I'm afraid there will be new other problem in the future.
I've updated AOD (Always On Display) via Galaxy Apps to version 1.4.02, and since then, most of the time, AOD is at full brightness, even when my device in my pocket, it takes long for the screen to turn off like it should.
I'm not sure if this specific version is buggy or it is something else, but when i'm using my phone, brightness is OK.
Anyone who updated it too can confirm its related to the AOD update?
I'm just afraid of screen burns and battery drain.
I just set a note pad on the top part of my screen to block the sensor and mine dims in 1 minute by my count and goes completely blank a few seconds after that. Try this with yours.

I'm experiencing the same problem after update and its killing battery really fast so turn off for now until next update hoping they'll fix it
my screen is not going pure dark on always on display... preview of always on screen theme is good and the backuground is pure dark, but when i lock the screen, it looks little bit grey colored background.
how can i fix it? i'm on new firmware (1.4.02)
mine was different case....when it's on AOD the automatic bright sensor doesn't work.when it's active on dark room AOD was dark & when it's active on bright room AOD was always bright.how can i fix this issue?
And one more thing the new update changelog show now its support clear view case.but it's not working.when i close the cover it doesn't show the picture which i selected on AOD setting.its show only the time like before the update.

You can't uninstall I tried it. I can't remember the last version but try download any version lower than the last and don't forget to uncheck auto update

Yes today before I turned off updates it auto updated, I didn't even take a look whether its fixed or not but uninstalled immediately
Is there any way to change the button layout on the navigation bar on a stock rom? Trying to see if there are alternatives that don't involve root, since I'm debating going back to stock (I really don't use many of the benefits of root access). It seems like the consensus is that there's code hidden already in android for this feature, but it's been disabled.
I'm really only trying to switch the recent apps button with the back button, ever since my samsung days, it's been ingrained in my head

In developer options make sure animation scale on all 3 are at 1x. Then swipe down from top of screen and there should be a settings cog. Press and hold till it spins, this enables system tuner. In there you can change button layout.

I should clarify. The developer preview had the feature, but they took it out when they made the official build. I am on the latest official build currently.

Ok, they must have removed it in February? I'm on January n4f26j and have it enabled.

Man, I JUST flashed back to the latest stock and got my stuff set back up. TBH i'm almost getting used to the flip, so if I can't fix this, then it's not the end of the world

Out of curiosity, do you have battery saver on when trying to get system tuner? I couldn't get it to work unless it was off, then afterwards I turned it back on.

Did anyone figure this out? I'm rooted on the latest stock rom.
Doesn't look to be, it's odd if they removed it. I was on january patch and had system tuner enabled and updated to February and is still active.
