Need Custom Kernel for Marshmallow Stock ROM - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any custom kernel available to use with marshmallow stock ROM.
I tried squid but the phone is in boot-loop.

I'm running MM stock with squid kernel without any issues. Read the details in squid kernel thread.

Use the latest squid kernel. Im using the r14b version. It works without any issue. Try doing a hard restart and then if that didn't work, reset if you are in a bootloop.

Nope. The versions 14 and up supports stock MM. There's also the r2 version of ultra kernel that supports MM.

Squids kernel does work on stock 6.0. 14b I believe. Did u take a backup? If not, reflash stock rom with fastboot because I don't think anyone's made a flashable zip with stock kernel yet. Personally, I'm waiting for moto to publish the 6.0 source before trying a custom kernel. Squids and all kernels that exist for our device on 6.0 are based on squids moto g port afaik.
Edit: another user has posted this in squids thread. Here's the post..ymmv:
Check here: https://github.com/motoxplay/stock there is a stock kernel zip floating around here, but i dont know where exactly
Also, u might've just had a bad DL. U could DL squid again verify the md5 before flashing

[Q] Kernel flash --> Black screen

Hey,
first of all my specs:
Note 3 (SM-N9005) international LTE (hlte)
C-ROM with stock Kernel
TWRP 2.7.2.0
so... whenever I try to flash a custom Kernel my screen stays black after the Samsung Bootlogo showed up.
My steps are:
Create Nandroid
Flash Kernel which is confirmed to work with this version of the rom
wipe cache/dalvik
reboot
Anyone else has this problem? Or even solved it already?
Any help would be really appreciated!
cheers

C-RoM meaning the 7.1 version? @aways version?
You can only use lean 3.1 or temasek 3.76 without black screen. As soon as I read this thread I knew this was it. Don't know about the people who replied above....
C-rom Kang by Vikas wil allow for use of Lean 3.7 make sure you are downloading the HLTE AOSP version not the touchwiz versions.
Thank you all so much guys! Finally it worked!! Looks like it was TWRP that didn't let me flash another kernel... With latest Philz CWM, C-ROM 7.1 and temasek 3.76 it worked like a charm! @mods solved --> close please

Didnt this the nightly with the new Touch update? I read that this causes sensor problems. I think there is another version to be released with the 28th nightly (tonight)
Just update to 28

I am on rooted Stock 38R ROM. My wifi setting broke after installed this kernel, but the kernel did have much more improvement over stock 38R kernel.
Is there anyway to install the kernel without breaking wifi? Thanks!

Let me guess, you were coming back to this kernel from Franco?
Also, to OP, are you going to keep maintaining this thread? Maybe having a regular (like weekly) updates or so?

Hmmm... I'm not that sure, but I guess there are some differences in the kernel between the standard CM11 and CM11S. Not too sure whether it is a good idea to flash kernel from nightly into 11S... How's your experience so far btw?

The device boot fine and all hardware are working fine
If was not compatibility the device could even boot

If you see other custom kernel pages, usually they would have different versions for CM11 and CM11S... So I would assume that there are inherent differences between them. But if it is working fine for you, then great! Maybe I'll try it myself too

When I switched to CM 12.1 my first thought was also about flashing Boeffla kernel.
But I decided to try native CM kernel for a few days and surprisingly I was not disappointed
Nice, fast kernel, battery friendly.
So there is no need for me to flash Boeffla on CM 12.1
Boeffla kernel is not compatible with CM and he won't make a Kernel for CM until there is an official CM rom

Hi Chetan, just wondering which version of CM you are using, and how you find it (in particular photo quality). I'm very tempted to flash it myself, but have just started using Boeffla Kernel with OOS, so wish to give that a bit of a go...

Since development of AK has ceased, don't expect the last version of AK to work with "never" builds of CM12.1 though.

What Kernal do y'all prefer using?

I was recently using the pairing of the Smurf Kernal with the NoLimits xXx Rom, but I wanted to try something else. What's everyone else doing with their 6T?
I just stick to stock, I've tried a few and I just don't find and real benefit they never caused any harm either but just one more thing to have to flash during an update lol.
Neutrino Kernel is amazing.
Unfortunately not available on XDA.
I've been using Radioactive the most.
RenderZenith
Aoxp
Using aoxp and no limit currently. Not long enough to give honest feedback. Need it all to settle in a bit.

You can easily flash the stock boot.img to get back to stock kernel. Or you backup your stock boot partition in TWRP and restore it when needed.
You need to flash twrp and magisk again afterwards.

A custom kernel on Nougat stock rom ?

Goodmorning everyone,
I would like to find a KERNEL as the title suggests.
Now I use the "AMD_TEAM_ROM_V3_B06" on Nougat.
I searched but found nothing that could satisfy my requests.

Thanks, good day everyone !!
