XDA II memory/crash problem

Hi
This is my first post here. I have done a few searches about this and people seem to have experienced similar things. What I want to ask though is why this particular issue/s happen in the first place. Hope I'm not going over old ground but here goes:-
Have had my XDA II for a couple of months.
Last night, I had an error message saying that the memory was almost full, something about critical levals.
I checked the memory and it said there was only about 3 mb (out of 125.86 total) available main memory split between storage/program. Storage was up to about 110mb used, the balance in program.
This surprided me as I have only installed a couple of programs since new totalling about 4 mb.
The screen then froze.
Soft reset did nothing.
Hard reset did nothing.
Took battery out and back in. Only half rebooted and then froze. tried a few more times. Same again.
Took battery out and left for about 15 mins. this time started up OK. Performed hard reset.
Reinstalled the 2 programs which were lost during the above.
Now working fine again, with about 95mb of free memory!!
What puzzles me is:-
There was very little other data stored/programs running other than the 2 programs already mentioned so how the memory got so full I really don't know.
Why would it not reset until the battery was removed for 15 mins?
I have resolved it now and it seems to be working ok again but are these common problems? How can the memory be so full, but have 95mb free now when the same programs are installed? Is my XDA II faulty or is this normal?
Many thanks in advance
Hi, not sure why my user name did not appear in the above post, but just so you know, it was me!
Hopefully my registered user name will now appear.
Hmmmm.... I''m getting the same problem although when I did the hard reset it showed that I had an empty memory but I knew things were left behind as I didnt have to reinstall the unlock program.
Are you still running ok without crashes?
strange thing for me was that I dropped it on grass, it turned off and I couldnt start it again so I took out the battery and sim card and when I rebooted it hard set all by itself which was annoying!
Anyway, if yours is still running good I may do that to mine.
However there may be a fix for this problem, which is a memory leak issue evident on all PDA’s running windows mobile 2003 second edition. You will need to perform a hard reset (this will wipe the xda of all data and restore it to factory settings) when prompted select corporate option (enter the pin 0506 when prompted).
If I do a hard reset I go back to the old OS that isnt 2003 - it loads automatically with all the O2 **** that goes with it.

Had to hard reset my HD2 the other day.....

My battery was running low and when I got home to a charger it was dead. Started to charge it up and after an hour or so switched on and got the following error message:
\..\common\persistence\internal\winmfile.cpp.56
When I clicked Ok to clear, it suggested I need to hard reset my device. I removed battery and tried rebooting several more times, but the same error kept coming up so in the end I had no choice but to perform a hard reset
Has anyone else experienced this error or know what may have caused it?
It was strange seeing my HD2 in the 'out-of-the-box' condition with no tweaks. Luckily all my .cab files were on memory card so had spent rest of day installing all my tweaks/programs again!
*bump*
anyone else had this issue or knows why I got it? Just don't want it to happen again
Upgrade your phone's firmware. That way you are certain that most bugs are taken care of.

[Q] Says Device Storage is full......

I installed Swype Beta last night before I went to bed last night. When I went to bed last night I had over 8gigs free on the device. This morning when I woke it up, there is a warning at the bottom of the screen that says the device is "Low on space". When going into the settings and looking at the storage settings, it now says that I have 14.83mb of free space left. Any idea what could have caused this? I have uninstalled the Beta of Swype and that has not done anything. I have looked through all the installed apps and there is nothing showing in the list that is that large.
It is running stock at this point. I have gotten the update to push it to 141.07.
Any ideas what this might be? Any ideas on how I can fix this?
Thank you in advance for any input provided.
I believe this has cropped up for a couple of other people as well; the only solution I recall from the top of my head is to do a factory reset, which loses user data so back up what you need to.
One thread suggested checking your tablet for a lot of media files first.
We figured out, that this problem is caused by a really big tombstone. But we still don't know, what created this tombstone...
Edit: If your tablet is rooted, you can search for the file under root:/data/tombstones and just delete it ^^
Had the same issue.. could not install anymore programs on the SD card, reporting it was full. Itried everything. I ended up doing a factory reset. My unit is not rooted.

Websites opening automatically

Hi everyone,
Since today I have the issue that randomly my internet browser opens automatically and randomly some website, it happened 2-3 times in the past hour and everytime it is a different one. I need also to mention that the last time my phone was locked and after I unlocked it the browse was allready open...
I die not install any new apps in the past days but it seems like I have some kind of malware on my phone. I tried already to scan my phone with Avast antivirus but it found nothing. Does anyone has similar experience and how I can try to track and fix this issue without having to factory reset my phone?
I've had this happen to me as well. Not to the extent that you're experiencing, and mine seemingly fixed itself. Try a reboot and check app permissions on all your apps to see if any of them seem fishy.
Save your bookmarks clear data/cache and reboot

Nougat 7.0 Problem - Gallery

I updated to Nougat last night. Everything is working perfectly except for my gallery. None of my photos will show up, not even new ones. If i take one with the camera they show up for a few seconds then disappear. I have searched all morning and cannot find a fix for this. Has anyone else had this issue? I have tried wiping cache, deleting .nomedia files and re scanning, i have even tried a factory reset and still nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
The only time I have ever experienced something like that was when my SD card was failing. If you have an SD card in take the SD card out and see if that helps. I have heard that sometimes reformatting the SD card helps also. I seem to be having a different minor problem, my power button doesn't always wake up my phone. Sometimes when I push it you can hear the restart sound but the screen doesn't turn on, wait a little bit and it does. I have cleared the cache, and also reset the phone.. still seems to have that problem.

Thanks.
