XDA II memory/crash problem - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hi
This is my first post here. I have done a few searches about this and people seem to have experienced similar things. What I want to ask though is why this particular issue/s happen in the first place. Hope I'm not going over old ground but here goes:-
Have had my XDA II for a couple of months.
Last night, I had an error message saying that the memory was almost full, something about critical levals.
I checked the memory and it said there was only about 3 mb (out of 125.86 total) available main memory split between storage/program. Storage was up to about 110mb used, the balance in program.
This surprided me as I have only installed a couple of programs since new totalling about 4 mb.
The screen then froze.
Soft reset did nothing.
Hard reset did nothing.
Took battery out and back in. Only half rebooted and then froze. tried a few more times. Same again.
Took battery out and left for about 15 mins. this time started up OK. Performed hard reset.
Reinstalled the 2 programs which were lost during the above.
Now working fine again, with about 95mb of free memory!!
What puzzles me is:-
There was very little other data stored/programs running other than the 2 programs already mentioned so how the memory got so full I really don't know.
Why would it not reset until the battery was removed for 15 mins?
I have resolved it now and it seems to be working ok again but are these common problems? How can the memory be so full, but have 95mb free now when the same programs are installed? Is my XDA II faulty or is this normal?
Many thanks in advance

Hi, not sure why my user name did not appear in the above post, but just so you know, it was me!
Hopefully my registered user name will now appear.

Hmmmm.... I''m getting the same problem although when I did the hard reset it showed that I had an empty memory but I knew things were left behind as I didnt have to reinstall the unlock program.
Are you still running ok without crashes?
strange thing for me was that I dropped it on grass, it turned off and I couldnt start it again so I took out the battery and sim card and when I rebooted it hard set all by itself which was annoying!
Anyway, if yours is still running good I may do that to mine.

However there may be a fix for this problem, which is a memory leak issue evident on all PDA’s running windows mobile 2003 second edition. You will need to perform a hard reset (this will wipe the xda of all data and restore it to factory settings) when prompted select corporate option (enter the pin 0506 when prompted).

If I do a hard reset I go back to the old OS that isnt 2003 - it loads automatically with all the O2 **** that goes with it.

Unattended random soft resets? Help!

So I'm a stickler for stability and it drives me nuts (we all have our weird problems ) when things don't run stably.
i.e. I take very good care of my Windows XP PC, it's been running for 12 weeks straight now without needing a reboot, power down, nothing. Rock solid. I love it.
I'm running the Cing 8125 with the new QTEK AKU2 ROM. It's been running pretty well but I'm having the same problem I had witht he original Cingular ROM.
For whatever strange reason and ONLY when I'm not using the 8125, it seems it will soft reset which makes it impossible to pinpoint the cause. I know it has soft-reset because
a) My memory is back at like 23MB free which is what I have after soft-reset.
b) None of my apps are running anymore - duh!
c) Best of all, I have a today plug-in that keeps track of uptime so I know EXACTLY when the soft-reset happened.
I can't understand what would trigger it, when I'm actually using it, the device is fast and solid. I'm not running any crazy apps that I would think could lead to this unstability.
How long have you gone without a soft-reset? What's bizzare is the most recent soft reset happened this morning at exactly 1:00AM!!!! What are the odds of a random reset happening exactly at 1AM? No, I don't have any notifications, alarms or anything around that time.
Here's the uptime meter I'm using if you want to try it out:
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/uptimemeter.shtml
I wish it would soft-reset when I was using it so I could at least know what was causing it.
The same is happening to me, although it soft resets once every 2 weeks or so. I must say I turn off the device every night, but it has happened to me 3 o 4 times since I installed de Qtek AKU2 ROM.
Any solution?
I mentioned this once before on here. I catch mine doing it at night sometimes (in the day its usually in my pocket so I don't know if it does it there).
I've only seen it a few times, maybe once every 2 weeks.
The odd thing is, that when restarting after it's random soft reset, it doesn't require me to enter my pin code. It's almost as if it knows that it's been naughty and was hoping I wouldn't notice
Maybe it's a "feature" of WM5??

reset and lost all data - first time ever!?!

hi all
my trinity has recently been behaving oddly, then today the screen went off.
i removed the battery to reset it, and then when it resetted it did a factory reset/customisation, and now all my data is lost.
now i know it's my reponsibility to back up my data, but in 18 months of ownership, nearly about 10 flashes/upgrades, countless hours spent messing around, it has NEVER done this after a battery removal. as a result it's a few weeks since I synced and backed up as i've gotten complacemnt.
my questions are:
1. is anything recoverable via a WM6 specific version of something like GetBack for NTFS, or similar data recovery tool, which could be run from PC?
2. how often does this actually happen, and should i be worried...?
3. is it possible i instigated this with the screen off, with some secret button press combination!?!?
thanks

help

got a htc phone and my phone keeps freezeing i need to take the battery out then put it bk in to get my phone it keeps happening alot. took it to a shop and they say they reflashed but it didnt work any body got any ideas thanks
First of all, while the phone is working.. BACKUP all data.
Then try this...
Hardreset (I don't see any other solution).. then RESTORE data.
If the above post doesn't work, then maybe you should have that unit replaced while it's still under warranty (I assume)...
I also experienced the same a while ago. All of a sudden, after 2 weeks of using, it hung. The only thing I did was having it a day connected to the internet and loading 150 emails into the newly created account. I experienced a slower operating system, though, and the hanging of the Jade could be linked to this full inbox.
Btw. no additional software installed or tweaks. At that time, I only had NoData installed and TomTom.
For some reason, when the backlight went off, the wake up hard button on the Jade didn't function either, so I had to take out the battery every time to make a call. Rediculous...
The solution for me was indeed to hard reset. Soft resets or configuration chagnes didn't work. After the hard reset, no problems anymore...

Critical Component missing

I've had my Jade a couple of months now and have flashed the rom 3 times.
After a couple of weeks, whenever I restarted the phone and I clicked on an an app, any app, to run I got the following error: "Cannot open "MyApplication". A critical component is either missing or cannot start
because program memory is unavailable."
I couldn't resolve it, assumed that it was something I'd installed(or the rom) and reflashed it with another rom. Again, all was well for a couple of weeks and then it happened again.
I then reflashed it with yet another rom and reinstalled my apps one at a time, to see which may have been causing the problem; couldn't find any.
It's been running fine now for about 10 days, when suddenly tonight the phone hung for a while. I was driving at the time and couldn't do anything about it. By the time I'd arrived at my destination it had freed up, but when I tried to run an app, I got the dreaded message. I left the phone for an hour to let the memory clear itself, but it made no difference. I then started tinkering around the settings apps to see if I could find anything that would a. work and b. give me some information and they appeared to work OK.
I then went back to try the app I tried to launch earlier and it worked! I then restarted the phone and after it came up, I couldn't launch anything (not even task manager) for about 1/2 an hour.
The rom (Tommy34 Megade) seems fast and stable and I've got no issue with it.
So, what can be hogging so much memory that I can't even get basic appas, like task manegr to run?
thanks.

Auto hard reset - wp7

anyone else with this problem? i decided to stop using wp7 after a couple of auto - hard reset after every 4-5 days of usage and countless hours of deploying side applications and dreadful unlocking chevrons and activation codes and etc... %@$%
SIGH.
anyone who can solve this problem is much appreciated.
i once had this issue, too: turned my hd2.7 on in the morning, had a look at the display and voila - all settings are gone to factory state (brown tiles, english lanquage, all my apps were gone, too....) first time i was shocked; but then i discovered that this behaviour was the result of the non-compatibility of my sd-card! i switched my device off, pulled out the sd-card, re-inserted it directly after pulling it out and as i startet my hd2.7 again, all settings, apps and data were back!!!!! seemes to me, that any sort of cache or ram partition on the card runs into full after a few days of continouus using the device, and then the card disappears from the raid-system, looking to the user like performing a hard-reset... it's just like you would have startet your divice without the card insertet then.
for me, the solution was to buy a stated-as-compatible sandisk 8gb class 2 card - now all my wp7 problems are gone away
thank you my mannn!
edit: it doesnt work, it keeps auto reboot before even entering the home (tiles). and sumtimes when it gets in, it is factory resetted.
