What is so different about the S920L? - Galaxy Grand Prime Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

With all the apparently different variations on the S920, I am just curious as to why the S920L is not as popular with the customization and ROM's.
I have never seen such a model with so many different variations to make it nearly impossible to flash a ROM unless it is built specifically for the phone model itself.

Will the different processors affect the roms and kernels? Will each rom and kernel need to be specifically made for a certain galaxy 2 model? Or should it not really affect development?
I think only in speed of certain programs but that's normal. we might need to have a look at the two different software codes to see if there is a difference?
maybe ask in the dev section - general - development

Differences between "identical" A500 tablets?

Does anyone know if all A500's are created equal? In other words, do they all have the same internal components? Does a tablet sold in the US use different hardware than one sold in Europe? Does one manufactured a year ago use different components than one made a month ago? Or is it possible that there are different "sub-models" produced at different times or in different factories?
I'm just curious why different people have different experiences than others when flashing ROMs, etc. For instance, I continue to get SoD's with Flexreaper even though I follow Civato's "full wipe" instructions to the letter when installing each new release. And I am unable to do a "data only" restore reliably using every recovery app I've tried. And some users need patches to get GPS working, while others don't.
Reading the forums, various people continue to have similar problems, while many others do not. If there's one thing I've learned about computers from my 35 years as an IT Manager, it's that they are predictable. Given the same hardware and software, the same input always produces the same output. That's why I'm beginning to think there may be subtle differences between our various "identical" A500's. A different chip here, a different EEPROM there - that sort of thing.
It would explain why (apart from the obvious "user error", internal memory size, and Packard Bell variations) some things work for some people and not for others.
Just wondering...

There "may" be differences in specific revisions of the hardware. This may be the case throughout the course of the year.
But when it comes to the internal memory, and the OS, they are handled the same.
When it comes to installing roms, what works for one, may not work for you. This is the nature of the beast.
I would start by first, verifying which specific version bootloader you have. You can do this by starting AcerRecovery Installer. It should tell you the version.
Then, verify with the rom author which specific version of the rom you should install based on that.
Then, find out the EXACT sequence of steps to install, based on the type of recovery you have (CWM+version, RA Recovery, and now it seems, TWP)
There are also variations in the cpu cores... Overclocking to the max may work fantastic on one machine but do horrible things to another, this is why most devs say if you want to overclock then leave the "restart at boot" selection unticked until you know whats going to happen and you have no bad side effects...
I was wondering about that. I got my first tablet from rent-a-center so i could play around with it, and if it bricked just turn it back in. When i bought this one, i had no problems with anything. I thought it might b i got an upgraded one because it said gen 2 instead of gen 1 thought meant generation like apple. I researched and that wuz not the case. Well thanks for the info.

Why two seperate Galaxy III forums?

Why are there so many galaxy forums?
I'm trying to understand because this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1566
Is really busy, with a lot of android roms.
The ATT Galaxy S 3 android rom forums seem much smaller.
Why are these roms not compatible? Is the International version that much more popular?
The international has been out a lot longer than the US version. And they are not compatible due to different hardware.

While it may seem they're all the exact same, the various us versions have different radios and other carrier specific stuff. And remember, the international gs3 has been out since may, of course the devs are used it by now. The non-int versions really only just came out a week ago.

The international Galaxy S3 (i9300) is practically a different phone from any of the US variants, in terms of hardware. It uses a different SoC (system-on-a-chip; different processor and graphics processor) and different cellular radios.
The US variants are also all different in the regard that they each run slightly different software by default, but the only hardware difference is in the cellular radios. They share the same SoC, so it's feasible to port ROMs between them without too much work. This also applies to the Canadian variants and such, as they share the same SoC and hardware as the US variants, with the exception of those cellular radios.
The Verizon version is the black sheep in that it has a locked bootloader, and currently ROMs that utilize a non-stock kernel can only be flashed to it (and work) if a workaround is used.

Reading skills are fundamental.
The majority of noobs read "The" then continued to brick their phones.

Why are there ROMs, Kernels, or anything for the SM-G360G?

Would anyone care to explain why?
Because it's not a popular model. It's simple as that.
Also, G360G is a model available in only a couple of countries, while G360H is available in major Asian/African countries, resulting in more support.

Do G360H roms work on G360t?

I have a G360T1 Device and there arent many ROMs available for it. I was wondering if these other ROMs will be bootable on my device? I don't care if cellular connectivity doesn't work I just want to make sure I don't brick it. I mean they have the same specs so it doesn't look like it won't work. It just looks like carrier differences and that's it.
