Not sure if this has been mentioned before but hope its true as the website also states Android 6 is out via OTA
Samsung has added built-in ad-blocking capabilities to its Android browser in its latest OTA (over-the-air) update to its Lollipop 5.0 devices, which include the Galaxy S6.

Interesting... I wonder if Samsung's browser will ever add (back?) an option to open new tabs in the background. I'd love to use it but I won't consider it without that feature.

I know right!! I keep using it because it's faster than Chrome and i dont want to burn my screen in again with the black status bar, but it's very annoying to not be able to open tabs in background.
does anyone have the apk? and google should allow just adblocking in browsers else people will just block all ads
google backfired...removed that adblocker from play store ?
The APK is here. It's gone from the Play Store, it seems. http://https://apkpure.com/adblock-fast/com.rocketshipapps.adblockfast
Has anyone got the Samsung Internet 4.0 browser? Without that these plug ins are useless.

there is a saying that prevention is better than cure. who knows what will happen so have one already.
Waste of time. I've been running Android for four years and not a single issue. Just be careful what apps you install, I.e. stay away from cracked apps, and always check the permissions before you install them. It's just the same as on a pc, you don't really need anti virus so long as you're smart enough to know how to manage the risks.

Play store itself have malware protection, so it's only needed if you are installing cracked or other applications from untrusted sources.

Saavy.
Also, If your note is UN-ROOTED, you have no danger, just watch permissions on the app you install, some pirated apps ask for SMS permissions to send massive sms to premium numbers, other simply may be an open exit node for proxies for DDOS and such.
Rooted devices are by far more vulnerable (inf fact are exposed to any thing)
Some good news for android 4.2
Android 4.2 scans sideloaded apps: While apps on Google Play are checked for malware, apps that are sideloaded (installed from elsewhere) were not checked for malware. On Android 4.2, when you first try to sideload an app, you’ll be asked whether you want to verify sideloaded apps are safe. This ensures that all apps on your device are checked for malware.
Android 4.2 blocks premium rate SMS messages: Android 4.2 prevents apps from sending premium-rate SMS messages in the background and alerts you when an app tries to do this. Malware creators use this technique to rack up charges on your cell phone bill and make money for themselves.

They are already working on 4.2 for us, the s3 and various other devices. There is even a leaked test version of 4.2 floating around on the s3 forums, so yes I'm confident we will see 4.2 on the way to 5.

Note 2 will first have Android 4.2 and then Android 5.0 and then I hope we will receive another small update Android 5.1 or something like that. And after that ,who knows?
I strongly recommend you Bitdefender from Playstore. It's consumption is about 5 mb RAM .It scans every app installed ,also have nice features like Anti Theft and so on.:victory:This is what I'm using right now
If a phone thief formats the sdcard every anti-theft app will be deleted and thus useless. Only thing to do left is trying to get the imei number blocked so the phone cannot be used.
You could also use THIS
Try avast. It has one of the best anti theft program of u r rooted. It will install to secire partition and almost impossible to get rid off. I Tested installing custom firmware, stock firmware... kernel updates... The antitheft is still there tracking me and emitting very loud sirens (when u insert an unknown simcard). Access to the phone is also restricted without passcode.
I'm very impressed. And there is many commands u can do remotely....

Then anyone who steals your phone can simply do a factory reset and the phone is theirs. Tracking software with root access isn't perfect either, a factory reset won't kill it but flashing new firmware will.

If I do root, can I delete these apps without any problems to the phone: (ex. slow, other apps not working, etc..)

Rooting your phone doesn't make it slow. You might as well just flash a custom ROM over it because when a new OTA comes and your girl accepts the OTA, it'll probably fail with you deleting apps from the /system/app/ folder. I recommend Carbon Rom with Franco Kernel (kernel matters more than the ROM in terms of speediness)
If you want to keep it stock... then yes removing those apps are fine.
If you want the Chinese Keyboard then just download https://play.google.com/store/apps/...29nbGUuYW5kcm9pZC5pbnB1dG1ldGhvZC5waW55aW4iXQ..
Why remove YouTube? YouTube is awesome and takes rarely any space.

How can I delete them if I don't root? I am guessing I can't as I couldn't on my P990.
Also, about the OTA. So if I root, I will lost the abilty to update over the air?! Wow, didn't know that. That is a nice feature as I don't have a computer, I have the Surface RT and whenever I want to update or re-root my P990 I have to borrow a friends laptop. Its a PETA!
I don't watch contant on my phone or stream anything as I can't afford big data plans. If I am around wifi and need youtube, I go to my Surface RT, easier to search, etc. I don't consume content with phones. They are a tool for business for me. Plus youtube is blocked in China...

ok. I was looking at the apps tab under settings and I noticed you can disable the stock apps. Do many people do this? I assume this will stop the app from working and not allow it to use the internet, correct?
Also, if I disable the ones listed above would that screw up other google apps? Will it make the phone a little faster? Maybe not noticable, but possiable?
Yeah disabling them means just that. Disabling Google apps may break things. I doubt disabling apps will make the phone faster. Its pretty fast the way it is.

Yeah, the N4 is not a Samsung device packed with bloatware. There is very less gain in wiping system apps.

Agreed although I do disagree with the bloatware part to a certain extent. Google does bloat their phones with Google apps such as: Google+ etc. I personally don't use it but it comes shipped. But yeah when compared to the other devices it doesn't have carrier apps or any Samsung app store or whatever.

Samsung is today adding support for content and ad blocking plugins to the web browser preinstalled on its Android phones. The first blocker available for Samsung Internet is Adblock Fast, which claims to decrease load times on Android by an average of 51 percent.
I already discussed here about this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=65085181&postcount=6
I recently dumped my Pixel 3 in a lake (kayak+puppy=bad) and needed a new phone. I spent about a week with a OnePlus7 and it was a great week. It was BY FAR the fastest phone I've ever held in my hand; stock or modified. But ultimately, I liked the size of the Pixel 3 and ended up with a Galaxy S10e.
I'm hoping to accomplish two main things. Speed up the phone and make it more "snappy" and simplify the amount of crap that Samsung has embedded into the device. For example, the Bixby key, can I make it do something else? I just feel like Samsung has the phone trying to do a million things in the background that aren't even remotely helpful. And yes, I disabled/uninstalled as much of the bloatware as I could.
I looked for a quality ROM but it doesn't look like anything is available to be honest.
To make the Bixby button useful use this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jamworks.bxactions
As for the Bloatware, if you don't want to root or use a custom rom and keep the phone as it is, use this to disable ANYTHING you want and can't disable through normal ways And buy the license, you have my word you wont regret doing so

CCSWE is great I have used that for a while now well worth buying licence for it so much can be done with it ..
Question....can I use that to disable things like the stock apps for email, calendar, and browser without harming those functions?? I'm prevented from doing so natively and wasn't sure if Samsung just doesn't allow it or if those apps actually include services that things like Gmail, GCalendar, and Chrome use to run.
Also, I'm not against rooting and using TWRP to install a custom ROM. Lord knows I've done plenty of that in the past (although it's been a few years now). That being said, I didn't see any ROMS that appeared to be worth a damn or were well supported. If I missed a good one please let me know!
Apps can all be hidden and disabled from the settings. No need to install anything else for it. As for the browser, I've been using Samsung internet on my phones for years (even when I had a Huawei P20 Pro) and it's better than Chrome imo, especially with adblocker and Amazon assistant to help with pesky ads and automatically finding prices on Amazon for items I an browsing on sites. Disabling/ hiding Samsung's calendar or email apps won't interfere with any other ones installed like gmail etc.

ALL apps can be hidden yes, but not ALL apps can be disabled.
something that i did which you might have done already if you've seen literally any youtube video on the topic is turning up the animation speed in the developer options. It really does make the phone feel faster.

Ad is in weather app not in OneUI itself. Big difference, secondly my weather app does not have any ads so it might be depending on country allowance law I guess or so.

It's sad they took Xiaomi lead and starting adding ads to $1400 phones! Their greed is next level! People need to make a big deal about it for it to stop!
It's the biggest reason I don't use samsung music any more. Why I don't use samsung phone anymore. Why I try to stay out of the galaxy store... Like these ads are the biggest reasons why I use google and other apps. This phone is too expensive for all these ads in their appd
I started noticing this just today! This is rubbish, posting ads on stock apps, more like forcing us to see ads, unless we use non stock apps for such purposes. This is not what I expected out of Samsung.
I've been bombarding them on the beta community about this. I don't think it's going to get changed though

Yes,many system apps contain ads on Samsung phones. You can see that with Lucky Patcher (for example) or other App Managers.
Yes I've seen this and it's disgusting.

I'm in Canada and seeing the ads there. However another user posted he has ads in Samsung Music which I don't have. Unless he's talking about Spotify but thats integrated in a couple music players if I'm not mistaken, wouldn't necessarily call that an ad.
