Converting LG G2 LS980 to D802 by replacing motherboard - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

dear friends i have a dead LG G2 LS980 , motherboard gone.
What i want to do is to replace the ls980 motherboard with d802 one. is it possible? only replacing the motherboard.
i have found a motherboard at aliexpress around 100$. But i am not sure about LCD connector of LS980 that whether it fits in with the board or not. Is therer any other issues ? please help me in this regard.

I am not sure, but I don't think it is possible, because of different type connectors. But I am not sure.
Why don't you order a LS980 motherboard? Check in ebay

dear sir ls980 needs to be unlocked to be used in pakistan

Why not just buy a used g2 on ebay for under $150 or a new xiaomi mi4c(or other chinese phone) for under $200?
If you're dead set on replacing it though, it's definitely possible - I've done it before. Everything is the same in both of the phones - the midframe, screen, battery, speaker, button cover, etc are all identical. The d800 motherboard will fit perfectly in the ls980. The only thing I'm not 100% sure about is whether the small lower board(usb, microhone) that is attached to the ribbon cables that go across the battery is the same. I replaced both boards when I did mine. Does the motherboard you're looking at come with the small lower board?

I would also recommend to just buy it second hand or just another phone/from a chinese brand if you are also more for flashing custom roms cause the chinese brands mostly are almost without bloatware and most of them are cheap and have pretty good specs.
Btw, about the digitizer what you've meant. You'll have a problem as the LS980 and the D802 have different connectors:

That link doesn't work.
The display/digitizer connector, and all the other connectors, are the same on both phones. The ls980 motherboard is a direct drop in.

Actually what i was trying to buy was a d802 board with usb charging port board, power buttons. But then i checked my display it wad dead too . So i decided to buy a new phone, actually a used lg g3. Ebay doesnot send there items to pakistan

Look step 7, there is the LCD connector, but I can bet that is a Mainboard (probably the GPU) problem, not a connector...
Did the phone is new ? Or the problem is new ?
Use plastic tools to manipulate the connector.
But if the phone is under warranty->RMA

Yes, GPU like other stuff are soldered to the motherboard...
Quite impossible to repair by yourself.
I don't bet on GPU (we will never know) but smell like motherboard problem...

Hello,
Sorry for you..
I can find LG G2 D802 mother board on Ebay for 60€ (include shipping).
It will be difficult to be sure about the use of other variant MB... My advice is to found the same one.
Where are you from ?

1. Click here to view picture.
2. Click download icon, select Original (4160 x 2340) and save to your computer.
3. Open picture and zoom it (may be zoom to 400% or higher).
4.1 Replace three capacitors: FL12000, FL16001, FL16002 or
4.2 Remove three capacitors on main board and make 10 connections (red color) like I marked.
Good luck.

Do you think that the d802 have the same.?

LG G2 Screen or Board issue.

Hello,
I have lg g2 D802. It's screen started trilling & took it to a repairing lab, they did some work on it but now screen is like in attachment. Repairing guy told that this is motherboard issue & motherboard needs to be replaced. Here repairing labs are not good, one was saying that this is screen issue, but this is not screen issue because I replaced several screens.
http://i.imgur.com/h3HTf6j.jpg
Now, someone please tell me if it is really a motherboard issue or someone has experience with this situation, please share.
Thank you
Definetly your screen needs to be replaced... or it can be the flex cable which is impossible to chnage... if you have a spare flex touch cable lying around and have the expertise to do it... you must give it a try

Dead Zones on screen

I have a LG G2 D801. It has started getting dead zones on screen. It started with a small spot at top now its 1/2 inch at top and 1/2 screen on left side of the screen.
The phone was not dropped. I took it to service center and they estimated around $270 for screen, digitizer and motherboard. Also the guy said it would heat a lot after the fix.
Obviously I am not going with repair and would buy a new one. Just wanted to know if anyone was able to fix such issue? What was the cost? Can I fix it? Where to get the parts from(I m in India now)?
I am now done with LG.
I don't have a fix, but am interested in this thread as I also have 2x G2 with the same issue

See my long running G2 screen thread guys and embrace yourself!
It's a great phone with an achellies heal...its crappy digitizer
Your best bet is to find a used or broken one (not a broken screen G2 but perhaps a different problem like bad esn) and swap the screen frame over.
That will be your best bet and easiest method to fix your G2.
After swapping multiple brands of G2 screens from multiple suppliers, I came to the conclusion that only an original G2 screen will be a good replacement.
LG makes an amazing phone. If only the digitizers lived up to the reputation.....

(Network)Hardware differences between G935T and G935F -experienced guys, please look

Aloha !
Couldnt find any info about this on the web. If you have any info please share.
Situation:
I've got T-Mobile S7 Edge 935T from U.S.. Unlocked by T-Mobile.
I'm in Europe.
Phone worked correctly till...
I run my car over my phone (my precious!) accidentally. Phone works but screen is shattered.
Ordered new screen. (with frame etc., like this one -> CLICK
Replaced.
Phone cannot find network.
What I did?
Looked over the internet how to repair "Error while searching network". Nothing helped. (in and out sim, unpin battery etc.)
1. Screen which I ordered was for G935F because couldnt find any for "G935T"
2. Some europe sellers say that screen which they sell is for any edge "T", "F" "V" etc. etc.
3. Couldnt find any information if there is any differences between screens designed for T or F versions.
So I assumed that there is no difference (its just bloody screen...)
Question:
What do you think about it ? Could there be some diffrences between screen sets ?
Should I buy new screen from US ? I would't like to do this ;/ Its not cheap, shipping etc And I cannot be sure it will work.
What do you think fellows?
I replaced my phone with broken screen again and it started work again, it sees network (see picture attached,)
(Sorry for grammar, still learning)

This depends, if you're getting the SCREEN ONLY(LCD Assembly), or screen WITH HOUSING. With Housing you might run into issues cause there are slight hardware placement differences, but LCD Assembly only they all work the same,

Yes, you right. It was LCD with Housing (Screen, frame...).
I need to buy LCD assembly for G935T.
The bad thing is I dont see any new LCD assemblies on ebay. Only screens or used LCD assemblies.
Is there any good website with those parts ?

That's because most people think all the models have the exact same things in the exact same place, but GSM/CDMA/International models do have slight differences, thats why when we do repairs and have to use frames, we make sure its the right model.
The 935F is an international model, so the placement might be off or something is not in contact properly, can you take a picture of both frames, 935F and 935T side by side(935F wont work with 935T btw, I checked)? With the motherboard off of course. Also I saw few newer listings on ebay for around 300~.
Oh, and getting a 935T with housing is probably your best choice unless you know what you're doing, cause you might cut into the wrong place and cut off the flex cable for Menu/Home/Back button. But then again, you can just go rough on it with a heat gun and get it off since the LCD is already a goner.

I already sent back 935F assembly with housing so I am not able to check the differences. I'm going to order screen only (screen assembly) and - as you wrote - play with hair dryer
In case of ordering those things its akward situation. I can buy here (Poland) screen with housing for about 270$ (only for F) or just screen for ekhm... 325$ :silly:
I'd like to order screen with housing (fot T) from abroad (China, USA) but I cannot find any new ones (seriously).
I'm not sure about XDA rules in case sharing links for auctions but if you will see any screen with housing let me know
G935T searching
i have this phone from customer and it appears is searching only.
i found out that the customer had already changed the screen.

N900P board in N9005 screen assembly

I have a trusty old N900P on which the front glass has cracked and screen is no longer functional, but the unit appears to turn on and boot (i can connect to a pc and it's recognised).
Now I dont want to install an after market screen (the quality and touch is never the same) so was thinking about buying a new unit. I can get a n9005 delivered fairly quickly, but I was hoping I could transplant my old board into the new phone assembly and it would work? what do you think? From what I can see the everything (layout & connectors etc) looks identical internally.
Thanks
