Hi,
My S6 Edge+ has been using the battery a lot while not in use - it loses about 40% over night (so about 5% per hour when not in use). When I got the phone, I flashed a custom (rooted) ROM I found here on XDA (Audax was the name, IIRC), but I think the battery issue existed before that. Right now, I literally do not have any apps installed, the phone is as it comes out of the box. So far, I've tried the following:
Wiped cache and did a factory reset
Flashed stock ROM with Smart Switch
Flashed stock ROM and recovery with Odin
Turned off WiFi, data connection, location, bluetooth (bluetooth is always off, I don't use it), NFC, all Samsung S-Apps, everything I could disable, I did
However, the problem persists. I installed Wakelock Detector Free by using the ADB method described in the app, and left it over night (~8 hours). The result is terrible - the phone got a mere 0.2 seconds of deep sleep over night, meaning it is constantly awake, and the culprit is Android OS. From the looks of it, TimaService is the cause, but I'm not sure if I am reading it correctly, since it is on top, but it only says it kept the phone awake for about 15 minutes. Is there anything I can do? I am getting 8-12 hours of usage time, I have to recharge it twice a day just to get through a day of use. I tried searching online, but I can't find any solution that works.
Facebook app is the worse.. delete it or disable it

theres alot about it on other phones. some say google+ some say knox. try disabling one at a time.
I don't have Facebook, Google+ or anything else running. Both Wakelock Detector and Samsung's Battery Stats report 'Android OS' as the cause of battery drain, by a far, far margin.
[edit] Also, I don't have Knox, neither.
For what it's worth, I flashed the Arter97 kernel and, after a few days, it looks like the issue is gone, I am now getting good battery life, both when using the phone and when it is idle.

Hey guys,
I've been having an S6 Edge+ for a couple of days already but there seems to be an issue with the ROM. I'm getting a lot of battery drain from the "Android OS" and I'm losing up to 5% - 7% per hour in standby.... I have even re-flashed the entire ROM and factory reset two times... still the same.
I've disabled Google's Location History and Google Now but this did not help...
My previous Galaxy S6 was also running the latest ROM but there were no such problems...
Has anybody else experienced such an issue and do you have any ideas?

Check if any sync is stuck in loop, sometimes this kills battery very easily. If all else fails check with some app like GSam.

Unfortunately GSam does not produce too detailed information without Root access and it only says Android System and lists all the services that are under it...
The interesting part is that after several re-flashes with the same firmware, the wakelock disappeared...
Now I get 76% to 80% deep sleep...
Go figure... Probably some stuck sync as you mentioned...

Ah great... I also had similar issue previously with Calendar sync, couple of flashes and it went. Now happily rooted
Android OS Wakelock killing the battery! ...... solved
OK, im not too savvy with settings and systems, just sharing what i have been through. I too had a major battery drain problem on my S6 Edge+ , giving me abt 8-10hrs of use after a full charge. Even during the nights with everything off and power saving enabled i would lose abt 50-60% battery over 8 hours. ..... caused by Android OS ....... it would keep the screen awake for hours even with the screen off .... ( dont know how that worked) ..... tried a factory reset but didnt help. Then rooted the phone and downloaded wakelock detector and installed it as a system app. Installed greenify and doze ..... last night lost 4% over 11hours with wifi and 4g off and power saving enabled which is a drastic improvement. Facing one little problem that images do not get downloaded (automatically or manually) in whatsapp with wifi in use. Will use the cell for a few days and post again abt how the battery is holding up and if there is any other performance issues.
If you want to save battery, try this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kunkunsoft.packagedisabler
It show all RAM usage of each app, you can disable any app in Bloatware (samsung default app) list to save power
This app run WITHOUT ROOT
Hello, my G928F Europe version drain battery so fast, I checked battery usage, Android OS and Android system drain most of battery, always more than screen and any other apps, especially, android OS always stay awake, even the screen is off. Drain 30% battery in the night(8 hours sleeping time). However, if I set up flight mode, it was only 5%. I have reset the phone, clean the cache and also disabled some services, it does not work.
Any body has solutions? I am really appreciate it.

If you turned on airplane mode and the draining was less, then it must be that you're living in place with crappy cellphone reception so the phone keeps on trying to find a good stable signal for you to connect. If you have crappy LTE networks, switch to 3G/2G or 3G Only from settings. That should solve it.
Flash arter97 kernel it helps you out.

This is because your cpu never goes to deepsleep
I got the phone on the day it was released. It had PB5 firmware when I got it and I (regrettably) updated to PC5 when that came out. I haven't done any firmware updates since then. Up until today, I have had no issues with the phone whatsoever. This morning when I woke up, I noticed that it was a bit laggy when typing and switching between apps. I powered down, booted up in recovery, wiped cache and booted it up. It sat on my charger fully charged while I took a shower then I took it to work. I put the phone on my desk where it sat for an hour without me touching it. When I finally picked it up, it was warm to the touch and the battery was down to 72%. I haven't installed/uninstalled any new software, my cell signal at work is pretty good (3/4 bars), GPS was off, WiFi was off (no WiFi at work) bluetooth off, NFC off, I didn't get an excess of notifications, etc etc... I checked the battery stats, Android System was showing 42%, Android OS was the next one at 12%. I haven't had a reason to check those numbers before so I don't know if that's normal or not.
Any ideas as to why this started happening all of a sudden? I used to get 2 days on it with light usage and a full day with moderate usage. At this rate, I'd get about 4 hours out of it with no usage. I don't want to have to do a factory wipe but at this point I don't know what else I can do/try.
I've got a similar issue, starting today. Warm, up to 90C according to Aida64. Battery discharging quickly. Just plugged it in and saw a message I've never seen before about weak charging and battery discharging faster than it was charging. Suddenly very laggy with sounds, typing, apps.
No indication of the cause, and I've tried everything except factory reset. Rebooted several times, removed case, wiped cache from recovery, checked running apps, checked battery usage stats, etc.

More info ... https://forums.oculus.com/community/discussion/43305/gear-vr-oculus-update-causing-high-cpu-usage
Final update: removing Oculus fixed it for me. Supposedly they have pushed out a fix, but I''m not in a hurry to install it after this fiasco.
Yea, that was it.
Thank god it was a nice easy fix and not a hardware issue like I was thinking.
I got the update for it last night and since then my phone has been icy cold to the touch.
I'm afraid to open the app to look, but does anyone know if there is there a way to turn off the auto updates in Oculus?
Thank God im stil on OG initial firmware. Full access to everything hotspot apns etc
And you can also use package disabler pro 1.99 and disable any app or system app you choose. Im still pulling 50 hours easy on one charge but i do disable oculus when not in use

Hi,
Not sure if this is in the right section so admin please feel free to move.
Ive googled my problem and had a bit of a read but dont really get any solutions.
Ive noticed a serious battery drain since upgrading to 6.0.1 - maybe it happened on the previous version however ive just seemed to have noticed it more since i did the update.
My battery doesnt last very long. It will show 100% in the morning. If i dont use it, it can go down to about 80% within an hour or so. If i do use it then im using apps like gmail, whatsapp / sms, short phone calls, some other apps but im not on them for very long. I normally close all apps that are running in the background.
This morning it was 100%, ive used it as described above and its on 57% and its not even dinner time yet...
Ive checked the battery usage and top of the list is " Cell standby" with 48% usage showing power used is 1530mah - which is alot. The next is "my data manager" (an app to manage data usage) showing power used is 485mah (alot less!). Ive attached a screen shot.
Ive also noticed that once the battery gets to around 30% it drains even faster. I find myself using power saving mode when it gets to about 20%. It still seems to drain at a similar rate. Maybe slightly slower.
Any ideas on what i can do to recover battery time without buying a new battery. There seems to be a few topics online relating to battery drain when updating to the latest android version.
Thanks

Factory reset might help a lot.
Dont really wanna have to do a factory reset if i can help it.
I forgot to mention i also cleared the cache in boot mode

I had same battery drain issues when i updated from lollipop to Marshmallow but after doing factory reset everything is better then lollipop and doze feature in 6.0.1 works very well. I leave my phone at night about 9 hours and not drain even 2% battery and i got 5 hours scrern on time .
try factory reset+wipe cache from recovery and use atleast 3 days to doze feature work properly.if you have same drain issue then it's a bad battery.this is the only solution so far.
Battery pull?

I seem to be losing between 8-10% overnight since clean flashing OPM1. Anyone else seeing this? I can't peg it on a particular app and accubattery reports anywhere from 0.8-1.2% loss with screen off. If I just tap the power button to see accubattery stats, the current drain without going into anything ranges from 54mah to sometimes as high as 150mah. I may try a factory reset to resolve but curious to what others numbers are.
I'm using latest stock 8.1 and find it has the best standby I've ever seen. Either your battery is over year or two and starting to degrade. Or you need to do some spring cleaning when was the last time you backed everything up and wiped internal. You'd be amazed the wonders that does with rogue apps and missfunctioning features after completing wiping and installing fresh copy of stock.

Just bought a new OEM battery that is reporting 101% capacity so that's not it. Also, clean flashed 8.1 when I loaded it although I restored from my cloud backup. I just factory reset today but honestly, I felt it was worse so I completely blew everything out again, redownloaded 8.1 and flashed again. This time I chose to set up as a new device without using the cloud backup. The only thing I manually backed up and restored was text using a 3rd party app. I am adding my apps back a few at a time but it seems to be a little better as of now but will have to give it a couple days to settle down. Not rooted yet either.
Some are reporting that "mobile data always active" is enabled by default in developer options on 8.1. Have you tried disabling this?
To compare this with op, I got 84% battery health and a drain over night of 4%. Stock 8.1, Nova launcher beta, SuperSU beta, mobile data always active is off. May an app is responsible for your 10% draining ? Any social stuff like fb ???
I turned off mobile data always active and when I clean flashed the second time, I did not put any social media apps on the phone but saw no difference. I ended up putting fb, messenger lite and Instagram back on and they aren't impacting negatively. It's only been 2 days and have only rebooted a couple times.. battery is still reporting 101% capacity. I'll give it a another day or 2 to settle down bc at some points it seems to be very efficient while others it doesn't but that's better than before the 2nd clean flash.
Looking at my accubattery stats, I'm still losing about 1.1% battery per hour with the screen off. I also noticed that so far in the ~7 hours my phone has been off the charger today, it's only been in deep sleep about 51% of the time that the screen has been off. What happened to the built in wakelock detector that was highlighted in https://www.phonearena.com/news/Android-8.1-Oreo-wakelocks-battery-draining-apps_id99715? Does anyone see this actually working or is this yet another "Pixel exclusive". I cannot figure this out so I guess I'll have to download a 3rd party wakelock detector but the reality is, even if I do find the culprit, it's usually not anything that is easily identifiable or fixable. Am I really the only one having this issue??
