I got the phone on the day it was released. It had PB5 firmware when I got it and I (regrettably) updated to PC5 when that came out. I haven't done any firmware updates since then. Up until today, I have had no issues with the phone whatsoever. This morning when I woke up, I noticed that it was a bit laggy when typing and switching between apps. I powered down, booted up in recovery, wiped cache and booted it up. It sat on my charger fully charged while I took a shower then I took it to work. I put the phone on my desk where it sat for an hour without me touching it. When I finally picked it up, it was warm to the touch and the battery was down to 72%. I haven't installed/uninstalled any new software, my cell signal at work is pretty good (3/4 bars), GPS was off, WiFi was off (no WiFi at work) bluetooth off, NFC off, I didn't get an excess of notifications, etc etc... I checked the battery stats, Android System was showing 42%, Android OS was the next one at 12%. I haven't had a reason to check those numbers before so I don't know if that's normal or not.
Any ideas as to why this started happening all of a sudden? I used to get 2 days on it with light usage and a full day with moderate usage. At this rate, I'd get about 4 hours out of it with no usage. I don't want to have to do a factory wipe but at this point I don't know what else I can do/try.
I've got a similar issue, starting today. Warm, up to 90C according to Aida64. Battery discharging quickly. Just plugged it in and saw a message I've never seen before about weak charging and battery discharging faster than it was charging. Suddenly very laggy with sounds, typing, apps.
No indication of the cause, and I've tried everything except factory reset. Rebooted several times, removed case, wiped cache from recovery, checked running apps, checked battery usage stats, etc.

Final update: removing Oculus fixed it for me. Supposedly they have pushed out a fix, but I''m not in a hurry to install it after this fiasco.
Yea, that was it.
Thank god it was a nice easy fix and not a hardware issue like I was thinking.
I got the update for it last night and since then my phone has been icy cold to the touch.
I'm afraid to open the app to look, but does anyone know if there is there a way to turn off the auto updates in Oculus?
Thank God im stil on OG initial firmware. Full access to everything hotspot apns etc
And you can also use package disabler pro 1.99 and disable any app or system app you choose. Im still pulling 50 hours easy on one charge but i do disable oculus when not in use

Hello everyone. Just got my Vega few days ago and was wondering how long does your battery last? Mine just sits on stand by with casual 5min playing and little bit of WiFi and goes down in 22h. I am with VegaComb 3.2 buld 8.1 . And the other strange thing is that after it goes below 50% suddenly it freezes or just shuts off and I have about 15%...its really strange. Thank you all in advance for the help.
Honeycomb uses more battery than stock roms because it make proper use of the Tegra 2's hardware acceleration features. This makes the vega run hotter and use more power. Apps that make use of hardware aceleration and use the GPU will eat up you battery.
That being said check your battery usage in settings to see where your power is going.
It's possible that you need to calibrate the battery stats.
Charge it for 12 hours so its fully charged.
boot to recovery.
go to advanced and select wipe battery stats. Your power meter will now work properly.
It is also possible that you wifi is not switching off when it sleeps, check in wifi settings (I think the setting is there, but i have not used honeycomb for a while).
Good luck

if you found the above post helpful please thank me
P.S capicha are so annoying
Been noticing this for 2-3 days now.. so I don't think it's a fluke or random occurring happening every morning....
unplugged.. got dressed for work, got in the car and drove maybe 10 minutes down the road, checked the phone and i was at 98%.. I didn't even do anything..
This is with WIFI off and SYNC turned off even! yes i have sync turned off because my Battery life is just so god awfully bad, i'm struggling to get through the day and all i'm doing is answering texts.. I don't even have facebook for Android installed.
is there a way to test to see if there's a bad App? I might just buy a new normal Samsung battery off amazon and see if there's a difference.
Hold home key and remove all. Then task manager -> activate applications (end all), ram (clear memory).
If no change, try fully draining your battery then fully charge it.
Might need some calibrating.
I personally take battery calibration with a grain of salt. And the old clear memory trick hearkens back to when phones had very little memory and very inefficient code. My best suggestion is to get the Mugen power desktop dock and a second battery and use the snot outof your phone, stop worrying about battery use or trying to be miserly.

Your battery isn't bad, that's normal with newer smartphones.
The reasoning for this is while it's plugged in, it slowly drains and recharges to keep the battery in good shape, Apple Computers have been doing this for years. The problem is that the phone doesn't show you that it's doing that. It keeps it at 100% no matter what, but when you unplug it, it will drop fast up to 5%. It's all part of the power management, you don't have a bad device.
Install better battery stats to doublecheck and CPUSpy to see if your device is going into deep sleep. I also have to ask, who is your carrier? Where are you? I'm in South Florida on AT&T but my area only has one LTE tower on. I get a fast as hell drain when I'm at my house/local area because my phone keeps switching from LTE to HSPA. The more it switches the more power it uses.

New Batteries don't need "Calibrating" there isn't the memory function anymore like there used to be in older batteries.
Hello, my G928F Europe version drain battery so fast, I checked battery usage, Android OS and Android system drain most of battery, always more than screen and any other apps, especially, android OS always stay awake, even the screen is off. Drain 30% battery in the night(8 hours sleeping time). However, if I set up flight mode, it was only 5%. I have reset the phone, clean the cache and also disabled some services, it does not work.
Any body has solutions? I am really appreciate it.

If you turned on airplane mode and the draining was less, then it must be that you're living in place with crappy cellphone reception so the phone keeps on trying to find a good stable signal for you to connect. If you have crappy LTE networks, switch to 3G/2G or 3G Only from settings. That should solve it.
Flash arter97 kernel it helps you out.

This is because your cpu never goes to deepsleep
Hi,
My S6 Edge+ has been using the battery a lot while not in use - it loses about 40% over night (so about 5% per hour when not in use). When I got the phone, I flashed a custom (rooted) ROM I found here on XDA (Audax was the name, IIRC), but I think the battery issue existed before that. Right now, I literally do not have any apps installed, the phone is as it comes out of the box. So far, I've tried the following:
Wiped cache and did a factory reset
Flashed stock ROM with Smart Switch
Flashed stock ROM and recovery with Odin
Turned off WiFi, data connection, location, bluetooth (bluetooth is always off, I don't use it), NFC, all Samsung S-Apps, everything I could disable, I did
However, the problem persists. I installed Wakelock Detector Free by using the ADB method described in the app, and left it over night (~8 hours). The result is terrible - the phone got a mere 0.2 seconds of deep sleep over night, meaning it is constantly awake, and the culprit is Android OS. From the looks of it, TimaService is the cause, but I'm not sure if I am reading it correctly, since it is on top, but it only says it kept the phone awake for about 15 minutes. Is there anything I can do? I am getting 8-12 hours of usage time, I have to recharge it twice a day just to get through a day of use. I tried searching online, but I can't find any solution that works.
Facebook app is the worse.. delete it or disable it
---------- Post added at 01:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:41 PM ----------
theres alot about it on other phones. some say google+ some say knox. try disabling one at a time.
I don't have Facebook, Google+ or anything else running. Both Wakelock Detector and Samsung's Battery Stats report 'Android OS' as the cause of battery drain, by a far, far margin.
[edit] Also, I don't have Knox, neither.
For what it's worth, I flashed the Arter97 kernel and, after a few days, it looks like the issue is gone, I am now getting good battery life, both when using the phone and when it is idle.
Hey guys! So I posted recently about this asking if my phone was consuming too much battery due to cell standby and I was right.
My phone is currently on 5% charge and when I check the battery stats, 20% of that is used up by cell standby which is obviously way too much. The phone has been out of charge for 1 day and 2 hours. I only use one sim and the second slot is empty
Does anyone have a fix for this? Step by step instructions would be appreciated.
I am looking at doing a factory reset tonight and hope that fixes it.
If it helps the first time I put a sim card into my phone I had put it into the second slot and then I changed it later
-----------
And also, I've seen the thread where you have these update files. I'm figuring since I'm going to factory reset anyway I might as well apply the updates.
I'd appreciate instructions on how to flash the file 137-35 from the following link-
(https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/how-to/npn25-137-33-stock-firmware-t3577081)
About this, what I have understood from my research is that I dont need to have my bootloader unlocked to apply the update and that I cant simply apply the update from recovery when I select "apply update from sd card" and then choose the update file.
So I'll have to use this link- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blYQ28DZJQk
Can someone just tell me its fine?
Battery drain by mobile standby in Moto G5 Plus
I don't know if I face the exact same issue. But even in my phone, most of the battery gets used up by mobile standby. It takes up too much battery for mobile standby compared to any other phones I compared with. When my moto g2 use 60mAh over 12 hours, the g5 uses about 200-300mAh in 3 hours.
I charged my G5 Plus to 100% and took it off charge at 1am and when i checked it at 8am it had lost 10% battery which does seem quite a lot when the phone is sat doing absolutely nothing.
Hi guys, did you check this post about high ram usage?

Maybe you have the same issue.
