Hey everyone,
I've tried searching for a resolution everywhere but I can't seem to find anything.
About a week ago I noticed the speakers on my phone are a lot quieter than normal. I noticed this when I was on a conference call and I could barely hear anything if other people I was in the room with were talking.
I went home and tested it while listening to music from my phone and comparing it to the speakers on my nexus 6. When I first got my 6P, it was way louder than my nexus 6 but 2 months later, I can't even hear it at full volume when my nexus 6 is playing.
Has anyone else's speakers gotten a lot quieter since they got their phone? Any advice?
Thank you!
I have not had such an issue. I assume you've tried rebooting the 6P already. Next, I would try to reboot into safe mode to rule out a bad app. Finally, I would attempt a factory reset to see if the problem is resolved. If not, I'm afraid you'll have to contact customer support and possibly get a replacement.

Hey guys,
its been one hell of a ride with my HD2 and its not looking good. Several days ago my HD2 started to act up when i'm talking on speakerphone with cackles sounding like it has been blown. It then starts to lose its volume growing increasingly lower and lower until i can barely hear my speakerphone even when trying to play music and the speaker phone pressed against my ears on max volume. Strange huh? it gets weirder. Today I've finally had it and called customer service. They are sending me another one and ill have to ship the one off when the newer one comes. But out of boredom, I wanted to test out this phone again and see if i can manage to make it work but the speakerphone has completely gave out. No super low volume no nothing from the speakerphone but i heard my music pretty loudly. Strangely enough it came out from the regular front speaker with abnormally loud volume. For a second i thought my speakerphone has came back to life. But now my music, my ringer, everything that has sound comes from the front speaker instead of the speakerphone. Anyone have any similar experience? But to be honest, this sucks big time - _ -
never heard of it, but i have a problem with my rear speaker die before and T-mobile CS sent me the replacement HD2 within 3 days.
did you try hard reset or master reset
yah i've tried the hard reset and the factory reset from the setting>security>factory reset menu many many times actually but same result. I even went as far as update my 2.10 rom to 2.13 but same thing. I have actually just rebooted phone and now the sounds seem to be ported back to my messed up speakerphone now. muffled cackling with super low volume even on max.
I went ahead and got the 1.99 for extended warranty as i think this problem might happen again to the next phone i receive. How is your new one by the way? any problems so far as far as the speakers are concerned? My first HTC experience isn't such a great one. HTC "quietly brilliant". much too quiet in my opinion.
My HD2 has the same issue. Sounds like the speaker was blown. Called T-Mobile and they are sending out a replacement.
so far the replacement phone is working great, you have 12 month warranty from HTC/T-Mobile.
Hi All,
When i take video with my omnia 7, it tapes without any sound. Has anyone come across this problem.
Thanks
I've come across this problem myself. I was at Soundwave back in February and half my videos had no sound, but some DID. I couldn't explain it. So I tried to experiment with it at home and found that the videos had audio each time. Thinking it was just some sort of weird one off thing, I went and used to phone to record a video at Future Music. Again, some of the videos had audio, some didn't.
I thought maybe the problem was that the audio at the concert was too loud and the noise cancellation mic was thinking EVERYTHING was noise, so it was cancelling everything, so I tried experimenting with the video for a couple of days after that. Again, some had audio, but some didn't this time, even when the volume levels of the ambient noise was very quiet.
So, after looking into it some more, I read one theory that it has something to do with a bug in how the Omnia 7 disables the speaker when something is plugged in (possibly into the head phone jack? I don't remember). I haven't really been able to find confirmation of this, but I'm hoping that after updating the phone, the problem has gone away.
I'll come back and post my experience when I know for sure
Thanks Deemar,
I have exact same problem, however I have only ever had one recording that actually recorded sound as well.
All the others have no sound
anyone????
same problem too :/ but i noticed the mic stopped working in other apps too such as shazam - it seems to do this from time to time randomly! very weird and annoying! havent noticed since nodo thought?
I haven't had the opportunity to experiment much since NoDo. But the videos I HAVE recorded since then (a grand total of two) have had audio. Knock wood, the problem might be solved...
When I bought the device 2,5 months ago I had no issues at all, but a few weeks ago I started noticing a lot of white noise when listening to music through the headphone jack on my Note 4, especially the right headphone. I have the feeling the issue started when I updated to NK4, but I'm not sure, so I don't want to downgrade just yet, since I have a lot of app data and it's quite a hassle to make a back up.
I was wondering if anyone else experiences this issue. I know it's present on some Nexus 5 and LG G3 devices as well. I have taken it to the Samsung store and they tried with their headphones as well and the issue persists. It gets even worse when I'm in the car using an aux cable to my car radio. Every time I accelerate or decelerate I hear a howling noise. Also when I'm just using the phone, not listening to any audio at all, all system sounds and notification sounds turned off, I often hear a clicking sound. At first I thought the back cover was a bit loose and made this sound, but it's actually coming from the speaker.
The issue is present in several apps: Youtube, TuneIn, MP3 Player and Google Play Music.
Is there anyone else who experiences such issues, because I'd rather not bring my phone in for repairs, as here in Holland that might take 2 to 6 weeks? And does anyone know if it is a software or a hardware issue, if anyone has found that downgrading might be a fix, I'd be happy to try that.
Hello all, after a short hiatus with iPhone I found my senses and came back to android. Bought a nexus 6p and am generally very pleased. One quick question however, when I turn thenvolme past about 3/4's the top speaker crackles, regardless of what is playing, bottom speaker seems fine. It only happens at high volume. Is this normal or should i return the phone for a replacement?
Not having this problem. After cranking the volume to 100% the only thing obvious while listening to music is an obvious lack of bass.

Phone has been returned, awaiting a replacement.
Hi all, I have nexus 6p 64gb stock on android 8.0. Yesterday, all of the sudden my phone's speaker volume turned extremely low. I performed a factory reset and no avail. Both speakers work, but the bottom speaker is fairly low and the sound is muffled - similar to a ripped speaker.
Can some confirm, that my speaker is dying? and also if I replace a speaker, would this issue be fixed? Not sure if I should invest in a new phone or fix this. Really, not looking to spend big time money. Called Google and Huawei, no help as the phone is 1 month over warranty.
