I have been looking for the stock recovery for my XT1052. I was not able to find it anywhere. With the help of @AGISCI , I was able to download the stock ROM for my moto x ( 1st gen. ) XT1052 ( actually Asia Retail ). The stock ROM was of European XT1052 but it has worked like a charm for my Asia Retail XT1052 . For fellow XDA Users, who want to return to stock so that they can receive the lollipop OTA, here's the stock recovery of 4.4.4.
p.s. : I would recommend getting completely back to stock ( so that there would be no problems while taking ota ) i.e., flashing boot, system and recovery. here's the link to stock ROM 4.4.4 XT1052. : http://www.filefactory.com/file/292..._4.4.4_KXA21.12-L1.26_54_cid7_CFC_1FF.xml.zip
I did not upload the Stock ROM. Credits go to the guy who has uploaded it. Thanks to @AGISCI for giving me the link to the stock firmware. Since the file is more than 8mb, it exceeds the limit. here's the link to it on my drive : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxPz5ZLKnceheExRNEZCaVd0ZGM/view?usp=sharing
I am not responsible if you flash this and brick your device.
THIS IS THE STOCK RECOVERY IMAGE FOR THE XT1052 ( 4.4.4 )

Just a clarification... flashing the ENTIRE ROM/SBF would get you "completely back to stock" Flashing boot, system and recovery only returns those 3 parts. Usually that is minimum which is enough to undo any changes and allow the OTA to install.
You mention you have an Asia Retail XT1052, but are suggesting flashing with EU XT1052 rom parts..
Keep in mind, the OTA's include a pre-validation check. It checks files and parts that are installed on the phone. Not just for do they exist, but are they the right version and checksum/SHA Hash. If even one thing doesn't match, the OTA will fail and not install.
So as long as these parts from the EU XT1052 rom 100% match the Asia XT1052 rom, you will be OK and the OTA will be successful. If anything is different, future OTA's could fail.
That being said, I'll admit I have not taken the EU and Asian roms apart to see if they match or not. I'm just giving the caution message because we have seen XT1058 ROMS vary around the world.
UPDATE: xt1052 asia 4.4.4 is available
you can find asia retail 4.4.4 which was recently uploaded(1-2 weeks back)
unfortunately i cant post links

Hi buddy. Looks like you know your stuff, so I have a question regarding this.
I do have xt1052 (eu en retail). And due to being curious I've flashed the whole official package for US Developer Edition, taken from Motorola's site.
Looks like it was so freaking new that now when going back to 4.4.4 eu-en-retail I can't flash the very first image which is gpt.bin.
However all the other flashing steps went alright, and I'm back with my original rom.
My question is, what is that gpt.bin thing, and how important it is regarding the upcoming lolipop ota?
Thanks in advance.

GPT.BIN is the partition table. Its important. When GPT.BIN and MOTOBOOT.IMG are mismatched from the rom on your phone you could brick when taking an upgrade.
In most cases, the GPT.BIN has matched from model to model when on the same rom (i.e. GPT.BIN from XT1060 4.4.4 rom has matched GPT.BIN of XT1053 4.4.4 rom).
However, try Option 5 at -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/MotoX-ReturnToStock.html and see what happens.

Thanks for the reply!
The procedure you described at Option 5 is very similar to what I've been doing, but unfortunately invoking reboot-bootloader and trying to flash gpt.bin again, doesn't work. Although I'm on Mac and using the fastboot that comes with motorola stock files. I will try on windows later.
since the whole retail asia 4.4.4 xt1052 stock has been posted, I think there's no need of this thread. I'll request one of the mods to close this thread..

I am looking for a list of bootloader versions that you have seen for the 5X, if you know of the bootloader versions and the builds that they came with, it will be greatly appreciated. We are working on bundling bootloader updates in an OTA and require some help with researching how Google does it on this device.
I have seen 2 different versions. The first version was included in the first 4 nexus factory bullhead 6.0 mdb08x (x=changing letter each version).
https://www.dropbox.com/s/a7e9fdmmsjzswae/bootloader-bullhead-bhz10i.img?dl=0
Now the second version has changed from bootloader version bhz10i to bhz10k and is included in the last two 6.0.1 versions and this is the last january to date bullhead factory image mmb29p. Both 6.0 and 6.0.1 have a identical size but someone should check out then with a hex editor and see what the microscopic change was...

Actually, the bootloader is a huge part of the ROM, it is where your encryption keys and other bits are stored, if you don't update bootloader you can be leaving your device open to some risk/vulnerabilities. https://source.android.com/security/trusty/

Correct but you are not required to update it like the vendor is all I was saying.
I'm definitely in the camp of applying all files if they are updated.

Thanks for pointing to Trusty. However as a build result for generic-arm64 I get only lk.bin. How does is fit to the bootloader.img, where we have few partitions: sbl1, tz, rpm, aboot, pmic, hyp, keymaster, cmnlib, sdi, imgdata?

Bootloader is not open source iirc, the trusty portion you are building is kernel side that just supports the other parts.

You would like to try what? What I was stating was my Moto E has an update available to 6.0 MM. I have not downloaded it as of yet, cause I am aware there's something you need to do first in order to capture the download for redistribution. From what I understand you cannot use an already downloaded and installed OEM~OTA update for redistribution...
A little guidance from the seniors would be EXTREMELY appreciated, as this is my first thread ever... I'm looking at you squid2 lolz
i am waiting for the 7th when Telus said they would roll it out.
Not sure how they make the uploaded Firmware archives either..
No matter how many time i asked i either got ignored or hammered with some weird advice (English issue?)
And i meant the one that we all use uploaded to Mega etc.
Who is making them and with what?
Apparently no one knows and what concerns me even more is a little thing called security.
I asked so uhhh why are we not using hashes to verify the firmware ?
It's complete insanity to check hashes on some dumb app and not your OS ..that just blows me away LOL
I'm interested in putting this on my Sprint phone (XT1526). CM13 won't detect my Canadian SIM.

Could you please lend a fellow Ontarian brother a hand, and tell me where the OTA file actually is? I've had the damn thing for a week now, and I can't seem to find it anywhere to capture it! I would love to actually install this OTA...
I do appreciate your help in finding somebody who had done the work already. However the OTA that I have waiting on this phone is a slightly different one. the numbers are different 24.51.39.... my educated guess is going to be it is slightly smaller because it contains no Rogers or Telus bloatware. Wind Mobile does not have a single app installed on this phone right outta the box, So I would like to capture it before I send it off to be installed.
I have read many of your posts across multiple threads, and you are obviously quite knowledgeable -> especially in the coding Department!
Are you sure it's going to install?
Once you Root it or various other custom changes the updates will not install.
It checks if you were tampering with the phone and will deny the update.. even if you can download it.
Thanks for the kind words but i am not sure off hand unless i search around.
One thing you try doing is search online etc with the words Blur, Update, Zip, Location
Or if you have a file manager with root you can search for it.
The benefit of the full packages available is they just install on any phone with no checks.
It's also not an update but the full installer.
So i think it's possible you may download an update with patches.
So it will see what you had before and patch those files.
Which could make saving & using the update again later problematic
..especially if you root !
If you upload it publicly we can check and see if it's a full install or a patch by looking at updater-script probably.
If i were you i would keep tabs on the Firmware repositories to see if the Wind package gets uploaded.
Then you will have a full install you can use coming from most others and with the security checks removed.
If you have something that can search your system files installed you can try searching for something that
will probably have Blur in the file name and be a flashable zip file.
If you have TWRP installed i think you can just load that and look around with the Built-In File Manager.
I am eating lunch so i might look on the web soon and check back here.. good luck.
Sorry i have not done it before so maybe someone who has can speak up or you can find one of their topics here.
The OTA update file is in the device main memory in data/data/com.motorola.ccc.ota/app_download
Thanks hedimahf i will save that for future reference.
Also lenigma1too i am pretty sure if you rooted your phone then you can not install that update.
Those type of updates are risky for us that customize our phones.. be careful.. make plans to fix it ahead of time
Unless my phone was stock (not rooted) with the default recovery and an original factory locked bootloader
i myself would not even attempt to install the update.
Google it and see the many people talking about BootLoop problems
I bet there is also little difference between Wind, Rogers or Telus aside from a couple small APK's and the Modem data stuff.
If all three have the same radio band support then i wouldn't worry too much about which one to use.
Although you may end up struggling to get your phone calls and text's etc working again if you switch like that.
The Telus one i tried just had 1 extra APK the "My Telus" app and a shortcut to it on the phone.. i uninstalled it with ease.
Other than that i did not see ANY other app's installed that were not standard on the USA/EU retail versions etc
EDIT:
Oh and the BootLogo was like on Lollipop but slightly more blue.
And the Boot animation was new too.. Marshmallow Telus has "Stitches World" video.
The default wallpapers and the collection of them were like on Lollipop too.
EDIT:
My point was the Telus firmware only had "branding" with that one app.
Otherwise the word Telus does not show up anywhere really.
Also i tend to compare packages so i am keeping my eye out so i can see what is different.
If you want i can PM you if i run across Wind version.

They are intended to used with RSDLite or ADB.
They are found on the big Firmware topic(s) here. (first post over there for links)
You should check out the discussion going on for help with that on those topics for best information.
Putting Firmware from on model onto another may break your ability to make phone calls
and then you would have to try and fix it somehow and it starts to get complicated.
Which is why those other topics are so valuable.. good luck.
I repeat the 2 zip's mentioned are NOT flashable-zip's. (they are just a normal zip file for storage)

yup but .9 is the latest. it has fixes for battery and the phone. i flashed it via fastboot on my XT6144 and it works great.
Well, the -49 (not 9) it's not to be found on Moto US website or OTA, it just appeared here like magic and the change log (supposedly) here. So I am not sure about it's provenience and that the fixes are not a placebo.
Anyway, I understand the "itch" to install it. Because I am so tempted myself
LE: Well, I did it. Flashed the MJP24.139-49 on my XT1644, I am restoring the apps now from backup.
Are these TWRP flashable or fastboot?
Yes, fastboot is avail after you unlock the bootloader on Motorola site (loosing the warranty).
I have booted into TWRP to root (SU systemless method), but didn't actually flash it (because I don't plan to switch to CM at this point).

I have booted into TWRP to root (SU systemless method), but didn't actually flash it (because I don't plan to switch to CM at this point).

I'm already on CM but there's the bug preventing me from receiving calls unless I turn off LTE. I'd prefer to not lose root and don't have access to a PC, so if I can wipe and flash this in TWRP, that would be perfect.
No, you can't, you need the standard recovery to get back to stock. Then you can root as I said.
As for CM13, I had used it (beta and after that nightlies) on one of my previous devices (Asus, based on Snapdragon 615, 64 bit, 3GB RAM)... but it was too unstable to use as a daily phone. Always something to be "fixed" and very often something else was breaking. Disappointed...
Security Patch Level
Can someone who has flashed the -49 build confirm what the security patch level is? Just wondering if it's the same update India and Europe received OTA.
I m on stock rom unrooted with locked bootloader with built no : NPNS25.137-93-10 (April patch).
So my question is how to switch to NPNS25.137-92-14 (JUNE patch), how to do it ?plz help
Why do you want to change to India/Brazil software, safer to just wait for the US, Europe, Retpac version.
Damn, just noticed retin, just fastboot 92.14.
Then you can update to official oreo
Stable version is releasing soon, wait for sometime.

92-14 is firmware for India and Brazil, 93-14 is for Europe,US and Asia Pacific.
It's possible to flash one over the other but you'll change your software channel and may not receive future OTA.
Better to wait for the 8.1 firmware for your region.
Losing IMEI,volte or 4g most likely only happens when you flash a 64 bit custom ROM.
To be on the safe side make a full nandroid backup incl. EFS and persist with latest TWRP 3.2.3.1

Look at the picture, software channel retin with 193-10 installed.
So should be safe to overwrite with latest indian stock release ?

The name of the software channel doesn't change if you flash another firmware version so it's safe from that point of view.
The only thing that's changing is the fact that you don't receive any OTA updates anymore.
The screenshot of the op only shows that he once flashed a firmware that was meant to be used on a US or european device.
