Hello to every xda members...
I'm a newbie to android world.. was planning to buy nexus one so I just wondered if I could ask you guys about any hardware issues with this phone...
I was going through the forum and some of the things that worried me a little was the "bleeding" problem and the 3g issue... couldn't understand what the poster meant by the "bleeding" ... I'm just worried about hardware issues coz firmware are constantly updated to fix common problem... and I have a lot of faith in cyanogen and other devs....
Had no problems at all with mine, you've got to remember this is where people come when they have problems so youre bound to see a lot of posts like that here, but of the several hundred thousand Nexus's out there right now I think youll find that these events are fairly isolated. This is just a place a lot if people come to share them.
The only problem that i have noticed is the reception issue when you hold the phone, it has been discussed alot on these forums. Hope its just a software issue but who knows

Thats true...
but still waiting for more replies
Hi,
Mine works OK, after flash radio from ERE36B the UMTS/GSM stability is slightly improved. In fact, on old ERE27 was also not bad - in my place the signal is really weak (-103dB)
Besides, battery lasts for ~10 hours (yes, massive playing with the phone .
Today spotted, that the icon descriptions were moved from center to the right of the icon, what caused lost of readability. After reboot problem was gone.
I also considered if to choose HTC desire, but finally decided to buy N1 - first of all because it was already available
greetz
mati.
So i guess it wud be a gr8 phone... coz i don't care about the video call that is the only drawback.... thanks...

this is a non-issue with a bluetooth headset like my jawbone earcandy.

may have something to do with the antennae being at the bottom of the phone...
bluetooth headsets remedy that, same with the stock headset that came with the phone.
about the bluetooth headset,
this may be true but I am not a fan of handfree stuff unless i am in my car, but I dont need to talk on my phone while driving. Id rather it just work when I use it like a normal phone..

Samsung is testing software to optimize GPS on Galaxy S phones. Look for updates in September. Details & download instructions to follow.

Awesome .. good news ....
I sort of figured that it'd roll in with the Froyo update, which is supposed to drop within the September timeframe too.

I hope so. I'm actually pretty surprised they let a device go this long with this problem. Mine works much better after some HACKS but honestly, the phones' gps should work right out of the box in my opinion. And if we get towards the end of September and the only update addressed is to fix something that was broken in the first place thats going to hurt Samsung seeing as there's been talks about September Froyo.
Great, thanks for the update! Looking forward to it!

Good stuff. Hope it comes with froyo.
Notice how they don't mention that there is a problem... "Samsung is testing software to optimize GPS on Galaxy S phones."
Sounds some what promising. Thanks for the update.
They've been very careful about how they are wording their responses on this issue. They are trying to pull an Apple, by admitting there is a problem without admitting there is a problem.
I certainly hope it gets fixed as it is really aggravating. Tried using the GPS today with Flixster and all I got was a black screen for my efforts (had to pull the battery to turn it back on).
Just turn off GPS and use network-based location for the time being. It's worded perfectly, but it does promise an update. It's no different from what other manufactures do. "an update to improve functionality" and etc.
I haven't heard of anyone's GPS completely not working, so you could call it optimizing. My Vibrant has the same issues as everyone else it seems, the issue is still on my old Mytouch and my friends Droid. So I would personally call it optimizing and not fixing.

Is that gps freezing common? Most reports I've seen have just been lock and accuracy issues. Mine is slow to lock and doesn't have the best accuracy (25-40 feet), but doesn't freeze the phone.

Today was the first time I encountered this issue, although it has been mentioned on this forum as well as others. Doesn't seem to be widespread, but it certainly is annoying.
Heygirl,
Forever the optimist Disabling a major feature of the phone is a poor workaround for a problem that really should never had made it past whatever QC Samsung has. Darn shame as this really is a good phone. It will be a great one once this issue if fixed.

What do you want from me or anyone else? A fix that doesn't exist yet? I said to avoid the GPS and likely, it's driver from crashing the entire phone - to DISABLE it and this goes for anyone else having the same issue but not knowing the cause. If you have a problem with that, you can finish this sentence yourself.
Well this is what we all were waiting for. Of course people are still going to *****, but we shouldn't care. This phone is clearly the best investment you can make in terms of a phone, let's celebrate.
Now that this issue is addressed I hope their sales increase and development increases for these trail blazing phones.

Typical corporate spin...just the iPhone 4 fiasco. Companies don't want to be legally liable by admitting fault.

Wow,sensitive much? Not sure where I asked you or anyone else for anything (expecting a company to back their product and make it right isn't too much to ask, though). You gave me some advice and I commented. You seem to be taking it as a personal attack. Oh well.

Now that's optimism!! When the patch is being downloaded on my phone and the GPS is working properly, then I will celebrate, you can be sure of that

Actually, Apple would say "Our problem is inherent in all phones of this type, if you don't like it, simply return the phone and move on"
Now, all they have to do is bundle it up with froyo and it's all good!

I have 4 of these phones in my family and not a single one works GPS wise. None of them will lock on to any of the GPS sats here in Kansas. Occasionally there will be a blip on one of the satellites to 15 - 18 dbHz, but then it'll return to 0.
Hi all!
this morning, after a complete battery recharge cycle I've found my device opened like a clam! don't know what happened but I guess it might be a battery defect. Anyone else had this problem?

Anyway, I've been already refunded by Amazon including shipment to USA from Italy...this is what I call customer service! I think I'm gonna leave motoactv for a Garmin 620...I will miss the music feature but I can survive with my nano in my pocket...
This is the first time in my life that I hear a problem like this on the MotoACTV. I've owned two motoACTVs and sold a bunch of them, too.
There's never been any complaint or issue with them. I guess you are just unlucky this time.
But hey, don't let a bad experience prevent you from using this amazing device. It really is the best pre-"android wear" smartwatch. :good:
Hi everyone,
I consider buying the G2 (D802) but hold myself off after hearing users complaining about some issues.
Two of the main problems I heard of are GPS lock and touch responsiveness. I read many posts on this and tried to look for the problem and still haven't come to a conclusiuion whether it's a software or harware issue.
Can anyone please some this whole thing for me please? is there a solution to the above? would you still recommend this device anyway?
Thank you very much.
I would say less than 1 percent of people who have such issues.

Still. I had like to know that there is a way to fix it so I won't get stuck with it.
I read the threads reagarding those issues, especially about the touch and it seems that there is no solution yet. Very disappointing to see a company like LG that doesn't give a damn about it's customers... \=
Personally, if the problem is a hardware directly related, then I would say the only fix is returning the product to seller or sending it in for repair. That's the only fix.
If it is a firmware related one, ............. ummm, I haven't seen anyone complaining about GPS or touchscreen sensitivity issue right out of the box. Give me a link if you can.
However, if we hack it, root it, install custom recovery, ROMs, apps and then having problem then it is user problem, OUR problem, not LG.
I said less than 1% in previous post, I should have said less than 0.01% who might have problem to begin with and it might probably be a hardware problem.

You can see in this forum a thread about the touch issue. It has about 12 pages of people complaining. It happens out of the box. Some weird **** man, but thanks anyway .
My mi 9t has recently developed touchscreen issues. It's not the "ghost touch" that people talk about, but actual phantom touches confirmed by turning on touch viability under developer settings. Right under the pull down menu is getting constantly touched in a line. This problem is even worse when the phone gets twisted even with little force. My phone has never been dropped, doesn't have a scratch on it anywhere, no water has touched it ect. I'm considering buying a new one (no warranty), but want to know how common this is before I consider a different device.
Please let me know if you've experienced this hardware issue as I've confirmed that it's not software, and no common "fix" can fix hardware.
I have the same exact problem as you described. Also thinking about new phone, it's sad because I really like this phone but this problem is getting only worse for me ?

How long have you had your phone by the way? I owned mine for about 5 months before the issue seemed to get really bad, but it showed up after about 3 months.

just replace, its hardware problem, so use warranty

I'm a US based buyer and don't have warranty. I have looked at the cost of replacement and it's over half of the cost of the phone for the parts alone, so not worth it.
