Accidentally cancelled Marshmallow update, now it says it's up to date - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Per the title. I got the Marshmallow OTA yesterday but I was travelling so I cancelled the download. Now it says that the software is up to date, how can I get the OTA again?
I have a Mexican Moto X Play.

The next best thing would be to wipe cache partition thru recovery

Why don't you get ota update from our forum.i flashed from here only more than 1 month before mm ota officially announced. there is no problem.

Sorry everyone, but I had to clean the thread because someone was trolling...
Also...sorry to the users who were trying to make the trolling stop. I also had to remove your posts because they didn't make sense once the thread was cleaned.
Thanks!

The new unlock v8 is for 4.2 but as stated I used v7 which covers 4.0 and 4.1.
It didn't ask to update it just started updating without confirmation from me and that is the reason for the post.
It was totally on automatic and I had no control or say in the matter. In the past you have always had a choice to decline the updates and once unlocked you could not receive updates - this is something entirely new from Asus.
Thanks for the reply as it confirms I can't properly explain the situation.
Well clearly it downloaded the 4.2 update and put it on the cache partition, ready to install next time you rebooted. Which it did.
Case closed. What is the fuss about?
Once you are unlocked you will not get a OTA network update but if you have unlocked after it downloaded it then it will install.

No fuss, just info!
Have you ever received an update after unlocking a tablet or received an update that you did not confirm acceptance?
I haven't not nor have I heard of anyone else doing so.
The point of this being that motherboards remanfactured now will update you from ICS 4.0.3 to JB 4.2.1 without confirmation.
This means no chance to install nvflash as you will be on JB without choice if you are not very careful.
If you respond yes I'll remove the info and asked that this thread be closed.

I have had an update I didn't accept and it installed yes. Sat there and watched it install a firmware update after a reboot. I didn't even notice it had downloaded. I think they force 3 goes at denying the update then force it don't they?
Also you have to understand that the firmware contains firmware updates for the keyboard, screen and camera. They are sitting there in /system/etc/firmware waiting to install and will install themselves if you reboot and don't have the latest version......

Got an invite too. I will not be partaking of this test though. I will hold back and see how things go because I do not want to loose write ability.
Maybe when the soak test begins someone can get a dump. I'm not signed up so I didn't get a invite.
Sent from my XT1060 using Tapatalk
Invites usually go out a few days to a week before the SOAK is started then about 2-3 days after the SOAK the OTA starts rolling out to everyone. A few not signed up for the SOAK will also get updated at the same time.

Should I be SBF'ing back to 4.4 stock if I want to do this, or will I be able to go with SuperSU Survival Mode activated and update to 4.4.2?

I think it will have the same problems downloading any other OTA while rooted will have.

1) Stock recovery. No it will no flash with twrp or cwm
2) All root removed completely from your system
3) Xposed framework completely removed from your system, uninstalling will not work, you need to flash the xposed Disabler zip
4) Any mods to any system file must be reverted to stock
5) Running the stock odex ROM
6) Any system apps frozen must be unfrozen
If you have at any point of time flashed any 4.4.2 firmware along with the boot loader 30.B3 or 30.B4
DO NOT FLASH THE OTA, YOU WILL HAVE A HARD BRICKED MOTO

I received the email as well. Should I download the update and copy it to my computer...then return my dev edition to factory sbf. Then install? I read in the survey instructions that if you factory reset before applying, it might not let you download again.

that will work but depending on what rom you are running you might not get the OTA download notification. If you are running eclipse you may but probably any other rom that is not stock based you won't receive the update. If you do receive it. download it. take it out of cache and move it to your computer. post it. and let nitro know you posted it so he has a source to build a new eclipse. Ive been waiting to put a newed version of eclipse rom on my phone until 4.4.2 came out.
also, every single OTA soak test that has come out for Vzw for the moto x has been released to the general public at the same time as anyone in the soak test. Vzw soak test for the x just seems to be a gimick at this point. Maybe they do it just so people will use moto forums or report problems to their forums.
Maybe this FW release will be different but every single one in the past was released to everyone whether in the soak test invite email or not. It just gets rolled out to user over a few days to not clog up their servers.

I'm on stock 4.4, but it's been modded a bit with xposed and a bunch of changed system apps. I have a nandroid of the original 4.4 with no changes that I will flash and then flash stock recovery.

you don't need to flash stock recovery. you will still receive the OTA prompt. you just won't want to install it is all. if you want to install it then you should flash back to stock FW. if you are just going to pull it then wait for a rom to come out from it then there is no need to flash back to stock at this time.
Does anyone have experience with using other carrier builds? I currently have the TMO 4.4.2 build on my Vzw Moto X. System Update check doesn't work; always says try again later. Guessing I'd need to go back to 4.4 to even get the OTA right? I was planning to save the update from /cache but not accept the update.

Why not just stay on TMO. Also how do you install the tmobile software on the Verizon phone and how do you find it runs?

It works well. I made some modifications to the build.prop prior to flashing and haven't had a single issue. I will probably end up staying on TMO unless there's something totally different in the VZW build. One thing is that bluetooth devices recognize the phone as XT1052 instead of XT1060.
I flashed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2639724
My edited build.prop is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50170290
Edit: I used Odex version cos ART is a must IMO.
I never get the invite.

[DISCUSSION] 5.1 updates has launched. Anyone get it?

According to this brazilian website, the 5.1 update has been released and a friend of mine get the update.
http://olhardigital.uol.com.br/noti...stribuir-versao-5-1-do-android-lollipop/47225
I will try to get some screenshots if possible. Anyone get this update too?
As far as I know, a software update for our device depends entirely on Motorola. Google launched 5.1 but it was for the Nexus phones, so I guess we'll have to wait until Motorola launches the update or someone else make a custom rom. Are you sure your friend is using a Moto G 2014? Maybe I'm lost and we're getting it. I don't know

First off, there is already a 5.1 thread here. Stop filling the forum with duplicates and triplicates.
Secondly, Internal Motorola sources say that Moto G 2014 5.1 updates will begin rolling out March 23.
And don't quote me. Let mods delete whatever posts they find redundant.

Telus XT1097 5.1 OTA/Update

Hello All,
Today - - July 20th, according to schedule posted on Telus website, is supposed to be the start of the official 5.1 OTA roll-out for our XT1097 RETCA phones.
I am not yet seeing it pushed on my end but eagerly awaiting to test it out. I thought I would start a little thread here so people can post their results, upgrade experience, overall performance etc. [MODS: if this thread is deemed repetitive or unnecessary, please let me know]
cheers,
gs
Me too! I think initially the date was July 17th. (someone on Twitter had received a reply from TELUS stating that date).
Can't wait ! still no update
Please make sure you pull it out so we can enjoy this build ! Also curious to see if any radio improvements were made.
Will be seen here if and when !

Thanks bertiespeed! Good link to have, I was wondering how active those Moto subforums are but it seems like a reliable place. So eager for this to land on my phone. I flashed the stock brazilian 5.1. firmware just to see the overall feel of stock 5.1 compared to 5.0 >> NIGHT and DAY. Huge difference.... looking forward to the RETCA version. I will post back here as soon as I get the OTA notification, for the moment back to NX rom :good:
Update 7/20/2015: Select users on Retail Wind and Telus (22.121.11.victara_retca.retca.en.CA) and Retail China (22.31.18.victara_retcn.retcn.en.CN) can download and install Android 5.1

Hi all.
This was just posted on the Official Lollipop moto forum:
Update 7/24/2015: All users on Retail Wind and Telus (22.121.11.victara_retca.retca.en.CA) can download and install Android 5.1.
I am unfortunately on the road and cant do anything till after the weekend. If any of you here using the Telus XT1097 RETCA get the OTA please let us know here....
Update just showed up on my phone, away all wethough though
Never received the notification. did manual and it came up. installed and running fine .. So far so good
Just received the "5.1 Notification"! I'm on Telus Mobility.
I'm downloading it right now!
Will report a little later on.....
Does anyone have a link to the full firmware? I have 1095 firmware right now and would like to get 1097.
Anyone have full firmware?
I've been searching for 23.16.1.victara_retca.retca.en.CA full firmware to keep as backup, I still haven't found it. I prefer flashing full firmware using fastboot, rather than doing a system backup/restore using a custom recovery.
Full RSD XML firmware now available for RETCA XT1097

Thank you for that, I will try to download it, but I'm not hopeful, downloading a GB from Filefactory could take from 3 to 6 hours, if it ever finishes. Motofirmware still doesn't have it.
OK, downloaded, and flashed all files, no problems (I was on CyanogenMod).

P9 Lite Updater

Hi guys,
Recently I cleared data on Updater appliaction and I have no idea if the reason is exactly this or not, but I have no received OTA update for Nougat. My model is VNS-L21C432B161 and live in Macedonia.
I would appreciate if some expert point me out if this is the reason why I don't get the OTA or clearing data on Updater is not serious problem?
Aslo, I would like to ask someone with root on his P9 Lite to extract updater.apk, version should be 17.4.17 and upload, so I can reinstal. On Google can't be found.
Thanks to all of you. You doing great job helping ppl.
Just wait, some people got nougat OTA months ago,and some people still havent got the update. You can update using ff or dload method.

Yes, I know. I came from Macedonia and still have no OTA. But I did 'Clear data' on the Updater and am afraid it has something with it. Did I screw myself clearing data?
