Does Android pay work with Cyanogenmod or Pure Nexus? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Just checking.
Thanks,
Rich

It works with Cataclysm and ElementalX! I thought it worked with Pure Nexus, but I'm pretty sure it does not work with CM.

It works with some AOSP based ROMs like Chroma

Works with Pure Nexus and Chroma from my personal experience. Running the latest Pure Nexus.

So having never used Android pay (after reading i am not sure it is as useful as I thought), do you like it? Is it worth giving up CM for android pay?

Well Is it worth it to you?
I use Chroma instead of CM just because I am able to use AP. But Chroma is a pretty awesome ROM.
I don't think AP is really that important. I use it just because of the cool factor lol.
You may want to make sure your bank supports AP as well. https://support.google.com/androidpay/answer/6314169?hl=en

Its worth it if you have retailers who offer NFC payment terminals. I don't like CM at all for a ROM. I highly recommend you try Chroma to see how you like it.

[BOUNTY][vk810] $135 KICKSTART KITKAT/LOLLIPOP ROM DEVELOPMENT

users of the vk810 are currently prepared to fork over $135+ to the Developer that produces a working L build, doesn't have to be 100%, but it needs to have the basics; data, GPS, wifi, etc... Any takers?
BOUNTY SET TO $135!!
Note: I sold the tablet and am no longer in the bounty. Sorry.

I'd be willing to donate as well. Getting the tablet free. Should be here tomorrow.
I will add $10 if it has working LTE, Wifi, GPS and Bluetooth.

All of those things should be covered with the $100, we'll just say that we have the bounty set to $110 or so. Anyone want to put on top? Lets get in touch with a developer to get this rolling!

we have a semi-working CM11 devicetree/kernel ported from the non-LTE model (LTE data/GPS doesn't work, everything else seems to work)
I'm still trying to understand more about kernel development/porting, just not much time to look at it...

Why do you want Android 5.0 so bad to the point you want to pay money? I'm mean specifically, what in it is such a big deal that you need it NOW?
Why not just go buy a Google Play Edition if you want Lolipop that bad?
There's more to life than obsessing over having the lastest O/S version
Well a bounty is less than a gpe tablet lol. So there's that.

users of this great, underestimated beast of a tablet, that for some reason LG dumped some unoptimized garbage on to it, then "replaced" it with tablets with WORSE hardware, are really missing out on what this tablet can do. What it needs is a build that will run perfectly on it. Furthermore if it works half as good as it should, it would be better than what LG is currently doing with it.
Lets get a dev to get 4.4 working with radios, and we'll go from there. We may have to wait for a dev to pick up this device, with that; I am also willing to allow the dev my device as a start.
I'll add 50 to it
I would just like to see CM11 or CM12.. The tablet would run so much better.
It's starting to look like a significant amount of people are buying this tablet with the recent promotions by Verizon. I really hope that a dev can pick this up and see if they can get us a working ROM. I'm in the process of prepping a server to do some of my own ROM builds for the LG G3. Wish we had a working base because I don't have the knowledge to do anything but compile the builds.
Even a custom kernel would be nice so we could boost the CPU back to the 1.7 that the other models run at.
I'll kick in $20 for this. Would be nice to be cm12 or even GPE rom with working data (or not at this point).
I just got this tablet from verizon about 2 weeks ago, I dont consider myself a dev in any shape or form but I have done enough to know what can break my device and what cant, a while back I successfully ported a rom to a cheap Chinese tablet I owned a while back, I am going to look into porting a (hopefully) lollipop rom to our VK810, gonna take me some time and who knows if I will even be successful, just wanted to let everyone know someone is trying..... I will let you know if I make any progress....
Prepare your bounties guys !
Development is in full swing. We'd see some love for developers in coming weeks !

UK price reduced to £39.99

Amazon have reduced the price of the Fire in the UK by 20% to £39.99
Nearly as cheap as the Black Friday price before Christmas!
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00Y3TM6CO/
I got mine in the Black Friday sale but this is a great price for a very good little tablet. It's not as fast as my Nexus 7 2013 but then it's a fraction of the cost.
If you don't have one and you are reading this just get one.

If you aren't using any of the amazon apps or features I would recommend installing Slim LP rom from the original android dev section. I've found it very stable, fast and bug free. I have a nexus 7 (2012), which is admittedly 4 years old now, but I run a kitkat (4.4.4) rom on it, which is pretty much the fastest one these days (it struggles a bit with lollipop), but the fire is a lot more responsive and smooth, battery life is also great too.

CM 12.1 is another fine rom option for 2015 Fires that is mature, fast and stable. No right answer; selection boils down to personal preference. Read up on pros/cons in the relevant threads. It's great to have choices!

Yep, big fan of CM and have used it on other devices more than any other rom previously, but went with Slim rom to give it a go and havent found any problems, so didnt feel the need to try CM. Its great to have such solid stock android builds for the tablet. I have another fire tablet with the years subscription for content etc, but once they expire I will be setting it up the same way. I was a bit wary of flashing anything to begin with, as its for family use and I can accept any bugs or missing functionality on my own devices, but would rather not give it to someone else to deal with. But I havent had to give it a second thought, so hats of to the devs for their work.

Back up to £49.99 unfortunately, but still a bargain when you install CM12.1

Is CyanogenMod worth it?

I'm running PureNexus and its a great rom but is CyanogenMod a viable choice for this phone? I haven't really seen threads on it but i see there are nightlies being built.
Coming from an OPO CM was a pretty big deal but it doesn't seem so here. Is anyone running it that can give their opinion?

Lots of good choices and I've tried at least a half dozen. It's completely subjective but so far my personal favorites are RR, Pure Nexus and Screw'd. RR has all the extras most would want but it's really stable as well.
Yea I think CM gets lots of attention because it seems to be a popular rom to port to devices that don't have as many roms (or none at all besides CM.) Not that it's not really good. I've used it on other devices. Some were really stable, others I'd need to do clean installs every month or so. Using multirom now and have Pure Nexus as my primary rom with Uberstock and RR as secondary, but that could change from week to week.

It's certainly buggy, but I've found it worthwhile. Root access, privacy guard and call whitelisting are features I'd not want to be without.

Paranoid Android & Android Pay

What is your guys' opinion on Paranoid Android and 6P? I see there's a new 7.1.2 version of PA for the 6P.
I recall awhile back there being an issue with rooting the 6P and being able to still utilize Android Pay. Is this still a thing? Is there a reliable way to circumvent this issue if so?

I've been using it on the 6P for 24 hours now. Zero issues. It is the fastest smoothest ROM I've ever used. Zero FCs so far. Also my battery has improved tremendously. The best ever actually. It may not have a feature set like Resurrection or Pure Nexus, however it seems to made much, much better. Love it!
But does android pay work without magisk? On their site they say it passes safetynet.

How many tab 2's still living ????

I just wanted to ask how many tab 2's are still living in this world. It's just out of curiosity because I saw 2-3 people still installing custom ROMs. I have one p3100 running lineage 13. Which rom are you on ??????
P5110 with RR 5.7.4 and no gapps. I'm very satisfied with it.
I tried to install Omni rom and Slim rom, Nougat version, but there were too many lags after a while. Maybe I'll try Andy's roms in their Marshmallow version.
I just resurrected my tablet with TWRP 3.4.0, Lineage 14.1 and Open Gapps due to Youtube problems with the original firmware. Working for about 12 hours, so far so good.

Yea I know YouTube problems too it just keeps telling update.
P5100 here still working and in use daily. Ahh, yeah... using android 6 and NO GAPPS.
Daily driving SailfishOS for a break from Android, its fun.
My P3113 is still living, but it is suffering from major battery degradation. It has Lineage OS 13. I'm planning to sell it though.

It would most likely be sold to a pawn shop.
I"m reviving my p510 using android andi's rom. Curently omnirom 7.1.2 no gapps. Got black line in the middle, and feels very slow (may be because got use to with much more newer phines). Before android andi's rom, it was lineageos and its much much slower until unusable. I think it's got hardware issue somewhere.

probably at least 1389
I just revied mine. It's pretty old almost a decade, or IDK even more? Tab 2 7" GT-P3100. I have installed Resurrection Remix by @smart-t78 and Noob Kernel by @bipindr123 because of the sweet 1.2 GHz overclock. I have installed it yesterday. Batteryis alright. extSD card port not working. Ther's a bit orangish tint on top left, but overall usable completely.
There are some stuff though which I want to clear. In the default launcher if you are home screen and rotate your Tab then you have this ugly gray overlay/shadow on left and right side of the screen, I'm trying to get rid of it. Looks like I will need to download a launcher or something. Also want to change the fonts and icon. Just that. Also AdAway is not getting installed, seems like I have to install and older version because it says it cannot parse the APK package while instealling.
I want to use this tab as a secondary monitor to my PC, look for it how to do it, but first theme stuff.
I also will suggest to root your device and then use some kind of kernel editor to choose governor for CPU (default is Interactive which works alright) and also tweet I/O scheduler according to your need. Look for the guides of these things if you are not familiar with the terms.
Just bought a GT2 P5110 for 30€ in almost new condition. Want to upgrade to a custom Rom before I do anything else because this is easier when there is nothing on it.
Research suggests I should stick with Marshmallow - currently going to try RR5.7.4 first with Omni6.0.1 as a reserve (unless anyone has a better experience with an equivalent or newer ROM).
Not sure whether I am going to add Gapps or not yet. I am probably going to want to have (at a minimum) Google Calendar access and perhaps Gmail. What do people recommend?
Any other thoughts on rooting, Magisk, custom kernels etc to get better stability (and performance)?

This is why I posted here. I have done this sort of custom upgrade on other devices but new to Tab 2 - so I want to make sure I am going in the right direction before I make a mistake.
So what is your recommendation? Leave it on the stock 4.2.2?

If you can't stop using gapps than yes stay on stock..
If you can live without gapps than you can use any newer ROM and use f-droid store app.

I am currently on RR 5.7.4 Android 6 with slim gapps and it is very stable, as fast as stock and no lags. But I had to try various Gapps before slim and they all had problems.
