Auto pumpkin double din head unit WiFi issues? - Android Head-Units

I just bought this unit from autopumpkin from amazon and got it installed. Asin B0151KNXJ8 and it works great except for the WiFi. I have tried USB and Bluetooth tethering but that are also not working to get an internet connection on it. Has anyone else has this issue and fixed it?

In older Pumpkins the WiFi antenna was comprised of a short piece of partially stripped coaxial cable buried inside the case. Needless to say the metal case was shielding the RF signal making WiFi all but unusable even a few meters away from the router.
In the later units this antenna was extended outside the metal case - it's that little black 40-50mm (1.5"-2") long tail that sticks out of the back panel. In these units the WiFi reception is much better.
Recently I replaced this weak single wire WiFi antenna in one of my units with an external WiFi antenna that I stuck to the back panel with a double sticky tape. This mod has given me the best result so far. This unit connected to a lab power supply on my desk in the office on the first floor reliably pulls in the WiFi signal (4 bars) from the router located all the way on the other side of the house, in the basement.
I scavenge these antennas from broken tablets and WiFi TV sets with broken screens. This antenna looks like a small PCB with an etched geometrical pattern connected to the WiFi card with a coaxial cable - you can't miss it.

[Q] Adding a case antenna to the S4 to improve NFC when using Qi Wireless charging?

I've got a wireless charging receiver on its way for the S4. I'm conscious of the fact that this may impact NFC performance, so I've thought about adding an NFC antenna to the S4 case instead of relying on the antenna that's on the battery. Another neat side-effect would be that I'd be able to use NFC with some 3rd party batteries I own that lack an NFC antenna.
Here's my concern. Most of the information I've read says to buy a Note 2 antenna from eBay, and use that. However, I'm skeptical that they're compatible. A lot of S4 batteries (including good brands like Anker) initially claimed to support NFC, but found out that the antennas they had stuck on their batteries didn't work because they were designed for previous phones. A new antenna design was required for the S4.
[Q] If that's an issue with the battery-integrated NFC antennas, is it not going to be the same with the NFC stick-on antennas meant for the back case?
I looked for specific S4 antennas, and found only hilariously incorrect ebay listings like this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-TMobile...er_Cell_Phone_Accessories&hash=item20d56c5a89
That claim to include an NFC antenna, but by their photos clearly show that one is not included. When questioned, the seller told me that the antenna was "integrated into the cover". Uh huh...
A bit late. but whatever,
If youre getting the official QI back, it has one inbuilt.
If youre using an aftermarket qi ereceiver (like a sticker type)
then you should get a note 2 antenna.
its literally that, an antenna, a coil of wire.

Nexus 7 car install gps problem? Connecting to cars factory gps reciver

Nexus had descent signal and now after i installed it in dash it cant lock on
How would i go about connected my cars factory gps antenna to the nexus i am assuming that would provide best signal?
Original connector is fakra
As far as I know, the Nexus 7 is not able to connect to an external GPS antenna as it lacks the ports to do so. There may be some USB solution but I wasn't able to find anything when I looked. I did, however, come across something which may help. Keep in mind I have had no experience with this so take the recommendation with a grain of salt and do your own research.
For situations like this, they have something called a GPS reradiating antenna. It is used in cases such as yours where the device is unable to lock on due to poor signal reception. This seems to pick up the signal via one antenna and then rebroadcast it through a second so the new signal is strong enough for the device to lock on. Here is the first result on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/SBG-190-Re-radiating-Magellan-portable-navigation/dp/B001UI4Z2A
Check it out and see what you think. Hopefully it does what it claims and can help your problem.
It'd be cheaper to just get a bluetooth GPS.
cant i just cut off the plug on the cars factory nav and solder it to the nexus 7 pins?

Project: QI Wireless chargin a 10" tablet, heat problems!

I have a project where I am making a tablet wall mounted (and removable) together with wireless charging (QI Charging).
The tablet is purchased, which I selected specifically because it has a plastic back, and it is also easy to open up.
I bought this QI Receiver:
https://www.amazon.com/CUSORIENT-Wireless-Charger-Receiver-OnePlus/dp/B0713ST47Z
It has the best reviews about power output (the bad reviews on Amazon is about the connector breaking off which doesn't matter to me, as I will solder it internally).
This is the internals of the tablet, the red ring shows where I will place the the QI Receiver coil, and the blue is the cable routing.

I have tested the QI receiver with the tablet using a USB cable and it works fine, it charges. But there is a heat issue. The coil gets really really hot, to hot to touch with your hand. And this worries me, as I will place the QI receiver directly on the battery inside the unit.
I have seen several projects with phones and internal qi receivers and they are all placed above the battery so it seems to work.
Still the battery inside the tablet has warning labels not to exceed 60 degrees celcius.
So I am thinking if it is possible to use either copper tape or aluminum tape on the battery to shield it from the heat, and then place the QI coil above this.
Any ideas?

[Share] Hardware fix lag remote Shield TV

I have Shield TV 2017 16GB. i have been fix lag with hardware fix. now i can use it about ~5.4m without problem, faster response.
i use antenna GPRS but better with Wifi antenna (because shield tv use bluetooth 2.4Ghz).
here english instruction of member "iR3M" in shield tv forum
"
Here a quick recap of all steps done and things used:
- very small cross tip screwdriver, to open the 2 screws left and right at the back
- a nylon pry tool, to open the box, without scratching or cracking it, you need to insert it in the back top- left, center and right, afterwards you can slide the top cover away
- a small knife, I used a scalpel to carefully scratch the board, where the antenna needs to solder
- a little pice of copper or brass wire, which on one end you need to rasp with an file
- solder iron, to solder and finally a hot glue pistol, to fix the antenna inside of the case
I've fixed the antenna first to the case with hot glue and solder it afterwards, this way its much easier.

Joying Dab antenna and 4G antenna

I got from Joying a DAB USB stick which came with a antenna just like the 4G antenna that came with the Joying head unit. The problem is that I'm getting no reception at all from the Dab . Has anyone got the Dab USB with the antenna like mine ? Or I was sent the wrong antenna ?

When I bought the Joying DAB adapter a few years back, the antenna packaged with the adapter looked like this:
This picture is actually from Joying's website where they sell the DAB adapter, but I double-checked with the antenna that I got a few years back and it is exactly the same.

So, yes looks like they gave you a 4G antenna...

Thanks for that. I had a gut feeling they sent me a 4G antenna but wanted to be sure. No wonder no reception at all !!

I found that the antenna wasn't particularly good, so I bought a powered amplified antenna. It sticks on the glass like @realzoulou pictured but it has power inputs to increase signal.
