Hi,
I got my X play XT1562 (french dual sim) just yesterday and when I first started it I was able to connect to my 5 GHz WIFI. Then the backup was restored by this default android function from my Moto G. It seems to have restored some WIFI settings since it knows my 2,4GHz WIFI passwords. However, the phone now does not een see the 5GHZ WIFIs anymore.
Anybody with the same issues? Any ideas?

Try resetting the network settings from backup and reset in settings.

The obvious one to try is change the 5GHz channel on the router, probably not that but it wont hurt to rule it out.

So true it was, thanks. It seems immediatly after the first start after a reset the WIFI can be seen, but no connection is possible. Staying on this screen 1 minute afterwards the 5GHz WIFI spots are gone.
I found out my router was configured as region US even though living in GER. Once I chose a channel which is available in Germany too, this 5GHz net can be seen on the Moto X.
Thx for the hint.

my nexus 4 connects to wifi for a few seconds and is really slow then. the wifi colour turns grey and is not working should i return it or is there a fix ?
wifi is controlled by kernel, are you on stock kernel or what are you using?
is it your router thats causing the problem? try it on another wifi network.
If you're talking about the Wifi going grey and not being connected to Google services but otherwise the internet works, this is a known issue that Google has acknowledged
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=40065
In the comment sections, a Google engineer has made a few posts and it's clear this affects numerous devices, which would mean wait on a fix, don't return it.

for my wifi issue i checked my wifi channel. it is usually ch11 or ch6 on default so a wifi analizier for besy ch and do the right setting. works great for me. i hope it would help someone.

Worked for me when I changed the channel on my router from 6 to 5. Thank you.
Help
Im also having wifi issues. Works fine with my router at home and was the same with router in work but suddenly the other day it wouldnt connect in work, now it just says "authenticating" and never actually connects.
Have switched the phone on and off but it does nothing. Other phones are all working fine with router, Samsung Galaxy S3 and Nokia Lumia 920.
Im using AOKP Jb Mr1 Build 2 Rom and stock kernel and havent changed either before or after the fault.
My HTC One X can connect to my 5ghz wireless N network just fine, but my Nexus 10 can't even detect it. I was on ParanoidAndroid so I factory reset and flashed back to stock. That didn't solve it either.
Any idea why this is happening? I don't remember if I ever tried connecting to the N network.
Thanks in advance.
Mine connects to a 2.4 wireless N just fine... Never tried connecting to a 5

I have mine connected to a 5ghz wireless N network. Go to your WiFi settings and click the menu and select advanced. Click WiFi frequency band and make sure its set to auto.
Hope this helps.

Also make sure you have the right region selected for your wifi
Check your channels, there was a thread about it a while back.

Thanks for all the suggestions guy. In the end, I think the problem was the router. Apparently the Nexus 10 couldn't connect to certain frequency. I had to test a few and finally found one that the tablet was able to detect. Meanwhile, One X works fine on all.
Hi there,
i found that all 5GHz wifi will disappear sometime and only 2.4GHz wifi were left even the signal is very good.
Not only mine but also my neighbor's 5GHz wifi was gone too so i can confirm that there is no problem with my router.
but it can be solved by restarting WIFI in setting menu.
is that a hardware bug or software bug? have anyone facing this problem too? :crying:
ps: using stock rom 4.5.5 & stock kernel
I've too, but disappear and restore itself.

I have the exact same issue, I have 2 separate routers, one upstairs and one downstairs. The one upstairs is a 2.4ghz router and the one downstairs a dual-band router with separate SSID's for the bands, sometimes when I come downstairs I can only see the 2.4ghz SSID not the 5ghz one.

but the 5ghz one shown when u restart wifi, right?
Have you guys already contacted OnePlus about this? I have a few days ago, and I'm currently still in touch with them to find out why this happens.
I for example have the problem, that sometimes the data throughput using 5 GHz networks is absolutely zero, no data is transferred at all (tested with iperf3) and then sometimes it resumes but other times I have to disable WiFi entirely (disable background scan to do that) and reconnect and only then it would start communicating again.
BTW: I'll include a link to this thread on my ticket with them, so that they can see I'm not alone with WiFi issues on the 5 GHz band.

mine is 17.06.13, don't know if it is relevant.
Mi Mi A1 can't connect to my home wi-fi, or if it connects, it will automatically disconnect after a while:
My router appears in the WiFi menu, stating that it is a "saved connection", but when i click on the ssid it just shows that he's trying to connect but then it goes back to the list of wifi networks, without showing any errors etc.
I've got no mac filter on my router so it can't be the new mac randomizer update already stated in the forum.
It all used to work well before updating to Pie (no root, no vpn method).
Thanks for your attention, let me know if i can provide more info about this problem
Identical issues for me, with identical conditions (no root/unlock)...
Anyone knows how to solve? I tried everything but nothing seems to work...
I'm having the same problem but only with some networks. No idea what's causing it.
had the same issue and after disabling "A-MPDU" or switched back to 54g only in router settings it worked again.

I suggest you try to disable the 5 GHz band on the router and see if it helps... on my old router running only on 2,4 GHz wifi works fine, but many other users are reporting problems, so it might be an issue with dual band routers; it's worth a try.

Yet not all users had their MAC address changed with the update, so maybe not every terminal is subject to the issue... just saying.
I have same problem. It was due to change in Mac address during update.. I just simply login to router page...by 191.168.1.1
In wireless>wireless Mac filtering> add it latest MAC address along with new name...save it and try...it worked for me.

I've got no mac filtering enabled on my modem so this is definitely not the problem. Seems a problem with the 5ghz frequency. maybe reduced bands or stability problems - can anyone check which bands are enabled for 5ghz connection?
Apparently the problem is the Modem of the official Pie ROM, because the latest Pie update have issues with LTE bands and WiFi. Hope Xiaomi will release a fix soon!

A1 over home WiFi does not work correctly. Internet access is available, but it is impossible to view mail on gmail, send pictures to tweeter, whatsup. PIE version obtained by OTA, root no. MAC address when updating to PIE changed. There is no filtering on the router by MAC. Range one 2.4. I changed the firmware of the router, did a complete reset of the Mi A1 to the factory settings. Forced to assign DNS. The result on the home router is not reached. 8 Android devices are connected to the router. All work without problems with all resources.

In my modem settings I can deactivate the 801.11n standard and only use 801.11g (with max speed 54mbit). Since AMPDU is a "n" feature it makes sense that this works, too.
I hope Xiaomi will fix this soon, I have issues with other Wifi access points, which I can't change

Unfortunately, I can't even change this. The only thing my modem allows is turning 5ghz on/off 2.4ghz on/off and manually changing the channel and the band width

I suggest you try to change Wi-Fi encryption from Wpa2-psk (AES) to wpa2-psk (TKIP). Other users regained access to their Wi-Fi this way.
Same problem here..... im using MAC filter/TKIP/2.4Ghz (5Ghz OFF), disabled mac filter as workaround waiting for a fix
EDIT: Ok fix found, just remove the previous mac (before update to pie) from the mac whitelist

This is not the fix for this problem - This is a solution to the new FEATURE of android Pie in order to increase Mac Address Security

Changing Wi-Fi encryption from Wpa2-psk (AES) to wpa2-psk (TKIP) dont help on Zyxel Keenetic 4G.
So I finally figured this out - pre the latest update 5 ghz wifi on the Oneplus 6t worked flawlessly. Then the latest update came down (ironically over 5 ghx wifi) applied and rebooted and poof 5 ghz wifi no longer works. It connects, it gets ip, it can see the router everything looks normal but if i try to go anywhere on the internet - it tells me i am off line . 2.4 ghz wifi works just fine but the 5 ghz is broke. It took me a while to find this because I would auto switch to wifi at work and at home and didn't realize what was going on. Playstore would not download, app updates never came trhough. If I turned wifi off it all worked but then I am eating my data plan. Just an FYI to anyone having odd issues suddenly.
Weird. Mine still works fine on 5 GHz after 9.0.11 update (8/256 OP direct, totally stock unrooted).

Turned off mobile and wifi. Reconnected to wifi 5ghz. Still able to browse.
Turned on Airplane Mode. Reconnected to wifi 5ghz. Still able to browse.
Sorry. Can't reproduce issue.
For those that it works on 5 ghz - what band is your 5ghz on - if you check your wifi under network details see if it says 5 ghz or defaulting 2.4? (some people have combined wifi that will place you on what ever network is fastest) - also if you could show post your link speed (show on the Oneplus 6t under network details for wifi
Actually - I did a quick test and I could be incorrect. I set up a guest network with 5 ghz no password and got on it just fine and can pull 400 Mbs. My network password is complex so that might be what is causing the issues . I am going to experiment with a shorter password to see if that fixes it - but that would be a shame if that is the fix as it worked just fine before.

On tmobile, unlocked, flashed through twrp, no issue 5ghz as far as i can tell.
So I experimented more. Here are the results. No matter what I did to my internal wifi I could not get a connection on 5 Ghz. No issues on 2.4 with a long pw, a short pw- aes or tkip wpa or wpa2. But cannot, will not go anywhere on 5 ghz. Here is the odd thing. I can set up guest wifi on my router so I did. I set it up with no pw and boom, 2.4 g, 5 ghz1 and 5ghz2 - all of it. Then I turned on wpa/wpa2 and encryption (auto/aes/tkip) and set a password...and boom. Still working?? Exact same set up internal Wifi - nothing same issues. It's Bizarre. I turned off all the fancy settings for internal wifi like link sharing, fastest connection - I separeated them out to 2.4g/5G1/5g2 just like my guest and ...nothing. I can connect all day long but it just cannot get to anything on the internet. So for now I guess I am stuck using my guest network.
To the others who said they have the issue - what brand of router? - Mine is the TP-LINK AC5400
working fine here, verified that 5ghz is connected in settings

can't be - dhcp is band agnostic and it works - I get an ip address on 2.4 and 5 ghz just cannot get anywhere on 5ghz when using my home internal router set up - plus when I set up guest network on the same router I am just fine. And it worked just fine before the latest Oxygen update (that and I have about 18 devices on wifi all working just fine - including my oneplus 6 running the same Oxygen update - ) Has to be a bug of some kind.
Same problem here, oneplus 6T and Oxygen 9.0.11. I have this bug since update from 9.0.10 to 9.0.11.
I'm not on TMobile (see on reddit about oneplus_6t_update_breaks_google_play_certification), i'm in Italy with TIM operator.
I have problems with Fastweb Fastgate Router (Askey RTV1907VW), wifi 5ghz is connected but i can't browse, i can't do a speedtest from App on OnePlus 6T, etc.
But now in my office, i have a Vodafone 5GHz router, and i don't have any issue!
Could be a problem of the "channel" for 5Ghz wifi connection?
