Constant UI crashes on SM-N910U - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there
Can you help me confirm that my phone have broken hardware or something?
I have try 6 different ROM's 5.0 and 5.1. Custom and official. Did all wipes, factory restets etc. Everywhere I had constant crashes in some application like Viber, Firefox, Moonreader, AnkiDroid and Weatherbomb.
Some ROM's had constant crashes in google account setup and TouchWiz.
I have S5 with 5.0 official and all these apps works fine there.
All applications crash traces have same error: EGL_BAD_ALLOC during rendering.
So i think there is something with GPU and this affects application which use GPU for UI.
I have try once Kitkat 4.4.4 and there everything worked fine for some time but then I had weird issues with broken disappearing text in UI of many applications so again ROM is unusable and again graphics problem.
So does anyone have any similar note 4 issues or this is just my broken phone?
Thank you.

[Q] Is my N7 Defective?

I got my N7 a week ago from TigerDirect, refurbished. It is the 32GB model. It looked in perfect condition cosmetically. However now that I have been using it for a week it seems that something is just not right. Compared to my Galaxy SIII running CM10, it is SO SLOW and LAGGY.
Some tasks that are particularly slower compared to my S3 are multitasking - switching between apps, launching chrome with a few (~3-4) tabs already open, launching google now voice search, etc.
I have tried both CM10.1 (experimental build) and PA (latest version). Both seemed equally slow.
Some of the things I have tried to fix the isses:
Installed Seeder
Installed LagFix
Removed unneeded apps, particularly ones that are always running like weather apps
Turned off sync and disabled Google Currents
Turned off notifications for apps that don't need it, such as facebook and foursquare
At this point I'd like to determine if it's a defective hardware issue or that further/different software modifications are needed.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Material Accent Lags on KitKat

I don't know if anyone else is having issues with harsh lag after Material reached certain apps on stock 4.4.4... But I found a remedy which seems to work for me. If you aren't running it already, simply switch runtime to ART. The stutterfest ended for me in these apps after switching:
Hangouts (Was almost unusable on Dalvik)
Gmail
Inbox by Google
Shuttle+ Music Player
Google Play Music
Google+ (subtle)
Tumblr (not extremely laggy like before but a deal smoother)
YouTube (WOW)
Google Calendar still hiccups really bad, Chrome had no change, Google Earth didn't either, Google Keep also the same. I can't imagine what 4.3- users are experiencing. No ART is an issue. It seems Lollipop optimization, mostly to accommodate the new runtime is hurting the way Dalvik handles apps. Hope this helps someone.
That makes sense - one of the purported improvements in ART is better scrolling performance. That said, I've switched back to Dalvik and have noticed not a single difference when using apps. When I know there is heavy lifting going on in the background (i.e., when the Play Store is downloading and applying a bunch of app updates) I see scroll issues, but in ART too.
I also get the lag when installing updates but ONLY apps with Material design started to lag from typical use. Going back to Dalvik, the apps still sputter about, same with a friend's Ultra. Hangouts is unusable for me unless I revert to the factory package on Dalvik. Scrolling really improved

I'm just curious; Does anyone else have their phone encrypted and notice a major lag also? I may be having a double wammy of being encrypted and still on Dalvik of this app slowness... I just know KitKat ART isn't the greatest with compatibility since it was still in development on KitKat vs Lollipop.
It's much better now, really all apps that didn't work before with the exception of Xposed is fine now. I reverted to Dalvik a few months ago because no Xposed, it wasn't any faster before, and every app install made Play Services keep stopping. As for encryption, lag is expected...
Certain xposed modules will slow down the scrolling performance of the phone. Those apps such as Flat Style Color Bars as an example. My Droid Maxx runs on ART because it is locked down on 4.4.4, while my Moto X DE runs on Dalvik and the scrolling performance is similar as long as I'm careful with which xposed modules I run on the DE.

Nope, my phone is encrypted, I notice very infrequent lagging, only when there is a lot of background app activity. Art is marginally better, but dalvik is fine for me, too.

Same here. Encryption is a must for me. but because it's a must have, I did it the first day I had the phone...about a year ago and as such have not really used it without encryption. That makes it hard to compare. But my wife's mini is not encrypted and I don't notice it performing better in the limited times I'm using it. I've also had ART turned on for as long as its been available. I did not have any apps that wouldn't work with it so I left it on. Never seemed to cause me any problems but since I haven't used it extensively without ART, its hard to make a comparison.

Cause of Chrome and Webview lag only solved by factory reset?

Asked this in the Android help forum but reposting here in case its a GS5-specific issue somehow.
I have a Galaxy S5 (G900F) running official Samsung Marshmallow ROM, rooted with CF-Autoroot.
A short while back I found that on certain website (https://www.animenewsnetwork.com) Chrome would lock up for about 30 seconds with constant CPU usage by the sandboxed process every time when visiting the site or trying to change article list view type on the site. Clearing cache, uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome did not solve the problem. I am not sure if other websites were less smooth than they could have been otherwise but the problem was only especially apparent when trying to access the main page of this site.
Oddly the same problem would occur with any other browser that used Webview such as Lightning or Relay for Reddit's internal browser, but did not occur with Samsung's browser, and did not occur with Firefox. It also occurred with Chrome Beta and Chrome Dev. Disabling hosts file based ad blocking did not solve the problem either.
Eventually, after a full factory reset, the problem is no longer present, and Chrome is fully responsive when accessing this site again. My question is what could possibly have caused the problem in the first place, that causes Chrome and webviews to lock up when trying to render or re-render this page that isn't solved by reinstalling Chrome, so that I can avoid the problem in the future?

Android 10 lag/freezes

Hi all,
I recently updated from Oxygen OS 9.0.11 to 10.0.0, wiping data during the process. modifications are TWRP/Magisk/blu_spark kernel.
When on 9.0.x I used to suffer from the fairly frequent laggy behaviour ... I haven't seen this since on 10, however more often an app (especially Chrome) seems to freeze for several seconds (maybe up to 10) before continuing.
There are also a couple of places, especially the task switcher that feels laggy.
Has anyone else experienced this behaviour / got any suggestions for a possible resolution?
So far everything is smooth, but I also do have Chrome freezes that I had not before OOS 10.
I advise to you using the Chrome fork "Kiwi Browser", Theme, Settings, and you can install all Chrome extensions even on Android (Nano Adblocker/Defender)

Scrolling Lags on M31 UI/UX?

Been waiting for a new update ever since I noticed a significant lag in Google Pay mini game (which is not important but easier for me to narrow down the issue) and some other sites that use newer and weird UX I'm not sure if I'm right. It basically lags the f out and scrolls 2fps during that. another example is YONO SBI banking app. it's the same. slow and stuttery all over the place. so I'm using the lite version. also check Steam Points shop if you know what it is. so the GPU acceleration is bad?
UPDATE! I've found the problem. It's Android system webview v87. The factory version seems fine but I had to factory reset the whole phone. Even if I uninstalled the updates it didn't work previously but now it does. It's weird. just install webview 81.0.4044.138
