Handling with one hand with and without cover - Honor 7 General

I really love this phone but i find really hard one hand operation comparing to my old Samsung S4...
Honor 7 is 1000 times better device starting from built quality but i'm finding 5.2 inches and alluminium really hard to use with one hand...
Did you find improvments with a silicon or plastic case?
I hope so cause if not i can't really use as a real smartphone...

Did you tried the one hand mode?
Slide the buttons bar (bottom) right or left side.

I tried but is not the size of the screen the problem but the size of the phone i have to handle with the full hand to mantain a safe grip but after is not so confortable to write with the thumb...
I hope with a cover i will be able to grip safely with less hand having the thumb movement more free...
i think also square shape doesn't help at all...Round corners is a better choiche cause you can push more on your palm of hand...
Unluckily there are no options between 2015 flagships smartphones with good ergonomy...
The onlyone is S6 but it has a terrible battery life no sd slot and i really hate Amoleds fake colors...
To be honest Honor 7 screen is clearly the best !!!

It's too huge comparing with S4 one hand operations are really uncomfortable...
Do you feel Honor 6 is much better for one hand mode cause i'm planning a change even if i know H7 is better device...

Try with the nillikin case. It gives extra grip.

Question to all powerusers about the ergonomy

Hi all,
i am considering getting the Z, one thing that concerns me is the ergonomy of the omnibalance design. The flat back and 90° edges don't look comfortable to hold in the hand for a longer time. It's hard to test it in the store because with all the security attachments I am unable to hold it in a normal position...
So what's the verdict from those who use it a lot, specially singlehanded?

Depends how big your hands are. My hands are near enough 20cm x 10cm and I can hold it perfectly fine for long periods of time.
buy a iphone
I'm around 5 foot 7. I can access everything on the screen though pulling down the pull menu takes a wee bit of stretch when your hand is at the lower part of the screen. The physical buttons are on the side so no problem accessing those. I have no problem with the flat back when handling the handset. The flat and glass back actually make it easier to cling on my finger tips through friction.
Before I bought a tablet, I used to use this to watch tv and webshows, read magazines and books while sitting and lying down for hours.
So ergonomicly, I think the phone is fine.

You should ask females how the phone feels in their hands since they have smaller hands in general.
I've seen some people complaining about the "sharp" edges, but I haven't found anything bad yet (ergonomically).

I have quite little hands and actually find it ok. Sometimes singlehanded can be a BIT of a stretch (e.g. if reaching to the top notification pull down) but even that you get used to quickly. I got used to the size within about a week (I'd switched from an iphone 4).
It's very awkward to use one handed. I love my XZ but I'm selling it to buy another Nexus 4 because I mostly use my phone one handed and the XZ is almost impossible to use that way.
If you mostly use your phone with 2 hands it's great though.

I can handle my Xperia Z with one hand just fine. Really depends on how big your hands are and what you're used to.

[Q] How to prevent phone from theft in the car?

Is there a Samsung S4 lock to lock the phone to the car, maybe something like Kensington lock for laptop? I want to lock my S4 to the car.
I am a cab driver, and I use S4 for GPS navigation, I want something to secure S4 to the car to prevent theft by the passengers. Thanks
You going to wreck the amoled display, buy a dedicated gps they are cheap.
John.
With aluminium bumper screwed. Use the hols off this to lock

That's like asking how to prevent thieves from entering a house. If they are committed, they will steal it no matter what. They could smash your car's window, cut any security lock with industrial cutter, etc. The best way is to hide your valuables from the sight so that they don't get tempted.

I do use a GPS, but I also need to use the phone too (google maps, cab booking stuffs)...
So I was looking for something that has a wire one end that stick to my phone, and the other end that stick to any part of the car.

Small fall....large damage

Hi. Built quality has just disappointed me.
I usually take good care of all my gadgets. Recently my note 10.1 2014 had a fall slow motion fall....the result...the outer rim deformed and now it squeaks every time I hold from there. Pretty annoying also becuase I dont know what will happen as ti e goes by. So I guess Samsung doesn't consider humans may gently drop their toys...
Very sad.....I would really like better material choice as my note 10.1 first edition also suffered of lots of noises and NEVER EVER fell...

Agreed, I was just wondering which cover if at all.
I have a fairly big cover on mine just for that reason, I do tend to drop things

Actually it doesn't even have to be dropped to get that. This is my second note 10.1 2014 and I returned the first one because it was squeaking on the left side, it was really annoying. After returning it I got an iPad Air because of Samsung's typical build quality issues. But after using iPad for 2 days I couldn't like it. It was really like a toy after Note. I couldn't live with a 10 inch, 600 dollars tablet that you can't even do real multitasking on. I returned it and got my second Note. Yesterday I realized there is some squeaking on the upper side now. I didn't drop it or something. I think the cause of this issue is the chrome bezels. They can get loose too easy. But what the hell this is the best tablet for me in the market right now and although I don't like this build quality issues I love almost everything about this tablet other than that after an unpleasant 2 day experience with iPad Air. I hope they deal with this build quality issues like they did with the software (the new Magazine UX). Then this tablet will be unrivaled.

Guys, these aren't ballistic missile launchers built to zero fault tolerances. They are mass produced consumer electronics that are in a lot of cases built in third world or emerging countries by workers that are paid peanuts. A 2% defect rate in consumer electronics is considered excellent. So if Samsung sells 5M N10.1-14's 100K people are going to draw the short straw and experience some type of out-of-box issue. As for Apple, get serious. Go to an iPad Air (or any Apple product) discussion forum and you'll find plenty of QC and defect posts. They aren't immune and charge prices even more premium than Samsung does.
One of the consequences of thinner lighter mobile devices is that they have smaller bezels and there's less mass to distribute the impact of a fall over. Also, no two drops or falls are ever the same; how a device fares depends on the point of impact and what material it's dropped on. I'd fully expect the N10.1-14 to be more fragile than my ex-N10.1-12 simply because of its reduced dimensions. Sure Samsung could probably have added more internal reinforcement or chosen different materials but that would have added weight and/or bulk. The thinness, trimness, and lightness of the N10.1-14 was its second most attractive feature to me after its display. So, personally, I'm willing (and assumed so beforehand) to except the trade-off and am extra careful in handling it. BTW, I've dropped mine twice (on carpet) and it's no worse for wear.
Tbh i would say a cracked screen is large damage but yeah what Barry said, no device is immune from damage unfortunatly. Still not nice hearing youve damaged your note a little - hopefully it doesnt get any worse.

Is the Droid Turbo 2 worth upgrading from a Nexus 5 (2013)

I just want to know if it is worth the upgrade, is the screen much better, how's the overall perfomance, battery life, camera etc and i would appreciate someone telling me their experience with the supposedly plastic-made screen which is said to get scratches so easily??
Enviat des del meu Nexus 5 usant Tapatalk
Only you can decide if it is better enough to upgrade.
Compared to the nexus 5:
Screen is much better, performance is much faster, battery lasts much longer, camera is much better.
Device is physically larger. It's up to you whether that is a pro or con.
Is Motorola, so OS updates will be much slower than with a Nexus device.
No one knows how easily it will scratch, it is too new. I am not worried about it since the outer layer is replaceable anyway - if it gets too scratched, then I'll replace it.

Here's a link comparing the two. Yes everything about the droid turbo 2 is better. But worth the upgrade for money? Well, that's totally up to you. I'd do it all day long. But that's my opinion.

And what about the plastic-screen thing?
Enviat des del meu Nexus 5 usant Tapatalk
It feels fine and looks fine. No the quality won't blow you away but it looks good. It's plastic so yes it'll scratch but won't break. But the outer most screen is replaceable if it gets bad enough or slap a screen protector on it and have six layers of protection and no the protector doesn't interfere with the performance at all

So you are telling me that the touch does not feel different from a regular glass screen such as Nexus 5's? What worries me is the touch of the screen feeling just like any normal screen protector for glass-screen phones so... I hate that feeling, in fact, i hate plastic protectors. The glass-like touch feel is something that matters a lot to me personally.

Dude, LordCapi, put your big boy pants on and go try one. That's all we can say. Maybe you'll like your N5 better where others would like the DT2 better. Would you like to know what kind of Cereal is my favorite? jk ;-P
Short answer: no

I just returned my Nexus 5X in favor of the DT2. That being said, if you liked the Nexus 5 form-factor, just go to the 5x instead. The DT2 is big enough that it becomes a two-handed phone for most uses.
While I liked the Nex5X with the finger print reader option, it's a gimmick that you get used to very quickly, I didn't think the battery would work for me. While dozing (new to marshmallow) it's battery life looks amazing. However, once you start using it with the screen on, you literally watch the battery change as it drains. I use a little app from teamwin called battery bar, and you can see the battery go go go, until you need to plug it in.
The Turbo2 does not have that issue, though it has others, for me, but it's battery lasts. I can't wait (hopefully) for it to one day get Marshmallow and watch the battery go for 3-4 days
The other big plus for the Nexus 5X is that it's a nexus. Unlock bootloader, load the roms you want, change whatever/however you want. The Turbo 2 most likely will never get root.

I'm particularly pleased with the scratch test. Honor 5x appears to score the same as branded tempered glass (e.g. Gorilla) even through it's sporting generic stuff.
