Hey guys. I recently flashed the new marshmallow 6 and gapps to my device. Sm-g900t. FInger print options do not seem to appear on my device at all. I thought it may be a hidden avenue I would have to approach. But after trying to download several new apps that are finger print compatible. I was not allowed. The app stated my phone is not finger print compatible. I wipe and reflashed several times. Nothing seems to work for me. I did some google snooping. Few terms came up.
Source code and kernel.
I couldnt find any downloadable files to experiment with. It's been a week or so and I have no clue.
Did I do something wrong or is the code not written in the new rom. I'd like my scanner back working with the marshmallow 6 on my s5. Is it possible?

No, the fingerprint driver is TW only and chances are never will be on aosp/cm-based roms.

Hi,
I flashed Omnirom 4.4.2 nightly 2014-03-17 yesterday and then updated it to the 21st nightly using the built in update.
I can't figure out how to enable/use the multi-window / split screen feature.
I don't have the "Add to Split View" option in "Recent Apps" manager like shown in so many blogs and how to videos, no matter on which app I tap and hold.
The only options I have are "remove from list" and "App info".
I also tried enabling OmniSwitch but that didn't seem to help.
I flashed superuser from TWRP so I do have root.
Am I missing something?
I'm on i9300.
Baseband I9300JKEMC1
Boeffla kernel 2.1 (although I also tested with Omni stock kernel)
Thanks,
Pyrocks
Same here on my n7105

Now really, I did some more reading, do I have to install Xposed framework and XMultiWindow?
I thought this was supposed to be integrated into OmniRom.
Does it work for others?
What may be the reason?
After digging around I found out its not implemented by default in the final/nightly builds yet. I think you can patch it in.

Thanks for replying.
Do you know how can I patch it in? is there a flashable zip I can download (and maybe place in the FlashAfterUpdate folder) ?
I couldn't find more information about this (except for Xposed framework and XMultiWindow) - and found it strange that so many reviews and blogs show this feature with OmniRom and it's not there.
Thanks again.
Pyrocks
OK - found it:

I think that the fact it's not yet integrated in the nightlies should be mentioned in a more visible place. It's not so obvious as some might think.
To be honest I gave up on it after reading about stability issues. Probably why it doesn't get included in the night lies.
Aside from that, I have a Note II which had split view on Touchwiz and I never used the feature!

Indeed stability issues, i gave it a try and ended up with a bootloop. Luckily the post also contains instructions for reverting the change so no harm done eventually, but yes, very unstable.
In all the forums and blogs this is like THE feature when peopele discuss about this rom. It has gotten too much publicity and too little discussion or work.
I also had toucbwiz and never used it, the reason was it was only for a limited list of apps. If it would be limitless and any app can be split - i'm pretty sure it'll end up being useful. That's kind of one of the reasons I wanted to try this rom in the first place (i'm not regretting though, it's mor:laugh:e stable than cm 11 nightlies).
Hope it gets fixed. Until then maybe I'll give xMultiWindow a try.
Hi,
As we all might know, the s5 fingerprint scanner doesn't always get it right. There is a option on the screen to input a password, but i would prefer to have a pattern instead of a password.
So my question is: is there a way (like a mod), to make the pattern unlock available with the fingerprint scanner and have it visible(meaning, without having to press the option to input pattern)? So basicly we would have to authentication methods and choose the one that is more covinent, but basicly its when the scanner fails 2 or 3 times i would just like to use the pattern right away to unlock
I haven't seen anyone metion, or even making a request for a mod like this, but maybe there is one out there that i don't know about or a way to do it, or maybe more people will show interest in it.
I would look into it or try if i knew anything about code/programming =/
Thank you in advance!
bump to the extreme
That'd be a good mod. 2 options on screen. Sometimes it's a pain juggling the handset to get the print.

Thats what i was thinking. I have had a few problems getting the print to work sometimes and then have to wait 30sec :/ it can work fine(better than i expectes actually) but if not in proper angule or speed it can fail.
I havent seen anyone mention something like this before, but im glad to see that there is interest
I did a backup restore from an old 6p to a replacement 6p and while all went well in the restoral, the fingerprint scanner stopped working entirely, giving me an 'Enrollment failed. Fingerprint enrollment not working. Try another finger or try again later.'
I originally tried the method for deleting general lockscreen stuff, but that did nothing. So I started looking around.
I found the answer after Googling how to delete the fingerprints themselves, thinking maybe the scanner key was in there. The locations for the two folders to delete are:
/data/fpc/
/data/system/users/*/fpdata
*you will need root access to delete these folders*
After I deleted these, I am now able to use the fingerprint scanner perfectly. It would appear that the scanner key is indeed located in one of these folders.
If anyone else is having this issue and nothing else is working, give this a shot. If anyone else can confirm this works for them, then this could possibly be an official fix.

Hey bud, I provided you the same answer about 3 hours ago in Heisenberg's guide. Maybe you missed my post? Oh well. That said, this solution was already discussed below:

Hello everyone, thank you for commenting on this publication.
Current place, Ecuador.
Phone purchased in amazon US.

No Root
Today I'm adapting to the phone, but when setting up the unlock with fingerprint reader it does not work, it does not detect me, it does not do anything.
In addition to making calls the sound is really low, somehow they have managed to increase the volume.
Thank you

Just a guess, similar thing has happened to me.
bypass initial finger print setup ~> security & location ~> Fingerprint
If there is already a finger print profile there, delete it and re enroll your finger print. Good luck.

Thanks Twowong4words
I tell you that the phone is new, there is no existing profile.
Also I tell you that for the gesture on android 9. It does not react.
How can I know that it just came to me with factory error.

For fingerprint...
Try a reboot... That usually a vendor loading issue that comes and goes if you're doing any modding...
For gesture...
Settings, system, gestures, swipe up on home
Does anybody know how apps that use your fingerprint to login will be dealing with the situation that there is no longer a fingerprint reader on the pixel?
Thanks
Nick
Face unlock.
Hi @sic0048,
Thanks for your answer. This is exactly what I presumed. I was wondering if any apps which are now using fingerprints for logging in, will work straight out of the box. Or will the app developers have to program in support for face unlock. In other words will for example banking apps work directly after the pixel4 is released or will one have to wait till these apps (and it is quite a few) are updated.
bye
nick
I'm not a developer, but my guess is that the unlocking is always handled by the phone, regardless of method. The app is told when it is unlocked, not how. So I suspect it will work out of the box.

The API will probably be a generic biometric check which could be fingerprint, face, voice or whatever. It would be over complicated to specify a particular type, rather that the secure service in Android trusts the process used. There is a section in security for trusted services
An exposed mod allows you to trick all apps into using face unlock. If your OK with rooting your phone then the problem is solved.
