Wondering if y'all, the community, would be able to help me out with a little problem of mine. I've been on the Pure Nexus rom for a while now and I wanted to try out the Screw'd Rom. So I downloaded and installed said rom. When It boots up and goes to the setup wizard I get no network data what so ever. I looked through the thread and it said to also flash the update vendor.zip. I did that hoping it would bring back my data but it didn't. So I decided to go back to the Pure Nexus rom, clean install, and again I have no network data. Any ideas on what I could do to get it back? I've tried messing with the APN settings but no dice. I should have made a back up before switching roms but unfortunately I forgot to do so. Any help suggestions on how to remedy the situation would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Try flashing latest factory image by Google and then custom rom again. Should work..
Sorry to sound kinda noobish but how would one go about flashing the factory image? Would I have to follow section 10 of Heisenbergs how-to guide? http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928
Follow section 11.
flash the latest vendor image
Followed section 11 of the guide and I am still getting no data on wizard startup :/

hi, i got a problem here. after i root my nexus7. i notice that my 3g is not functioning. i go to settings>wireless & networks > more > there is no mobile network setting.
Simple rooting of a stock ROM would not cause that. (That is, only adding the Superuser.apk/su app to the stock ROM)
Flashing a grouper-derived ROM rather than a tilapia-derived ROM might do that.
But you really didn't say what you meant by "rooted"; did you keep the stock ROM, or flash a custom ROM?

I guess you can't post links yet (a trick to get around that is to change the leading 'http' to something else such as 'hxxp') - I couldn't find that post after a small amount of searching.
But no matter. Note that Google releases two variants of factory images - the wifi version has "nakasi" in it's file name and the 3g variant is has "nakasig" in it's file name.
Either that or flash a custom ROM from the 3G development forum.
Full disclosure: I have the WiFi version of the N7; I suppose I could be missing some detail involving carrier activation... but checking to see that you didn't accidentally install a ROM meant for wifi only seems likea good place to start.
Sounds Like you have installed wrong rom

First want to say hi and that this site is full of knowledge so any help with my subject will be great.
Got a att s4 sgh-i337 phone. I rooted it before the lollipop ota update was out and everything went fine. Then the lollipop update came out and I followed one of the methods on keeping root and updating to 5.0.1 lollipop on the phone. Everything went fine with that. Still showed root status and never did the phone brick or have any issues in the updating.
At some point though, I did run triangle away because I would have the custom logo and opened padlock when the phone would boot up. I knew it wasn't a huge deal but the counter showed correct and never could just figure out how to get it to go away. Either way, I did run it and I think rebooting twice, the factory loading image came back to it. Now it shows my current status as 0 for the counter and the binary is Official.
I have not tried to load any roms or nothing like this to the phone, just followed the instructions to give it root access so I could run a few different apps and adaway for when I listen to Spotify.
One day, I was trying to install a new version of Words with Friends and it failed because I think wwf was open, but I did go back and install it. For some reason now, my phone never notifies my with a wwf notification when somebody plays me. Every now and then, it might pop up when I restart the phone but that is it. I don't think facebook notifies me everytime also but was more worried about words with friends.
Searching google, it says to go into recovery mode and flash the cache of the phone there. I have done the cache memory in the phone but that has not fixed my problem. When trying to go to recovery, it never works, it would always show, recovery booting and then load the phone up as normal.
I have download quick boot and rom manager since they all have an option to boot into recovery rather than pressing the buttons but it always does the same thing. Reading the web though, it seemed like I needed to install a different recovery than the factory I guess, so using rom manager, I tried twrp and that didn't work so I installed ClockworldMod 6.0.4.7. Rom manager shows that as the current recovery method.
When I try to boot into recovery, it still shows that recovery is booting and then goes straight to loading the phone as it should normally.
Now though, every time I restart my phone, it says recovery is trying to boot but never does.
How do I fix my phone to be able to boot into recovery and it not try to boot every time it powers on. I have tried searching google but I just just can find an answer to my direct problem. I know how to hold the buttons and go to recovery but does not work, and I also know how to get to it from the different app programs(rom manager and quick boot) but they do not work either. It would be nice to get the wwf notifications to work properly again also.
If you need any information from my phone, please ask. Thanks for any help on my matter,
Charlie
Odin stock and start over.
Apparently, you are not aware that the boot loader is locked, preventing the installation of a custom kernel. You can not use twrp, or rom manager. Rom manager itself may cause issues.
I agree you should flash back to stock and start over to get a clean install. Hopefully, this will solve the issues with notifications as well. You can use the "[GUIDE]Odin to Stock, Updating, Rooting, and Installing Safestrap" by guut13 in the general forum for files and instructions.

Thanks for the replies guys, I really don't know a whole lot about rooting other than following instructions about it. I was unaware you could not use the twrp or cwr as a recovery. My recovery did not work before so that is why I was trying to install those. I knew you could not install custom roms but I did not know that you could not use rom manager to install custom recoveries.
I appreciate the help so far and I will look into that thread you mentioned. I haven't read it but will this take me back to stock lollipop 5.0.1 and I just reinstall apps or will I have to re-root the phone.
Charlie
please delete, sorry
Charlie
You have to go back to 4.4.4, to the nb1 base, root with towelroot, and then use the keeproot method to get back to 5.0.1 rooted. The instructions are in the guide, and also a link to the keeproot thread is there.
By the way, for future reference, questions, help and troubleshooting issues should go in the Q&A forum, not the general forum.
not having any luck
Ok guys,
I am trying to follow the guide but not having much luck.
I downloaded the I337UCUFNB1_4.4_Stock_Odin_tar and put it in the AP Odin file. I'm not sure if I should be using it or the other file named I337UCUFNB1_4.4_Rootable_Stock_Odin_tar to begin with. The instructions said to use the first one so that is the one I was trying to use.
After putting the first file in the AP slot of Odin and hitting start, it begins to try to do it's thing and then says it fails!
What do I do now? Am I doing something wrong or what because I'm trying to follow instructions but not having much luck.
Please help. Sorry for posting in the wrong area also in the beginning.
Charlie
I'm screwed
Now when I turn my phone on, it says Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again?
doing better now
Pretty sure I got it going finally. I changed cords and then changed ports on my computer and it finally did go back to stock without an error. I'm currently back on Lollipop and rooted so now is the fun of reinstalling contact info and anything else. So far I have not rebooted but it was not showing the recovery booting option when it did reboot. Hoping my notifications work properly now also!
Thanks!!!
Charlie
I unlocked my bootloader and rooted all went well. I flashed Z.A.D Rom and all was good. i decided to give CM 13 a try so I made a backup in TWRP (checked all boxes to back up everything) flashed CM13 played around with it for a bit didnt like it so I went back to TWRP wiped everything and restored my back up. When the phone booted back up got message NO SIM and my wifi wouldn't work. So I thought maybe a bad flash I'll try to restore my back up again. Same results no sim and no wifi. So I Tried to flash CM 13 again because that was the last thing that worked. That now freezes at boot then power downs the phone (tried everything to get it to boot). So I then tried to Flash the Boot stack again and stock rom. That will boot but again no sim and no wifi. I'm at a loss right now and dont know what else to try. Can someone please help me.

To answer your own question, a simple search in the Q&A section will help you.
You might want to grab version B20 and roll back, on the bottom left of the page select "Software Updates"
https://www.zteusa.com/axon-7#support
Then follow this thread to use the proper commands:

I dont know how i didnt find that I searched every section of this fourm I was trying everything for about 5 hours last night. But thank you very much i will do this now.
Requesting guidance before I brick my phone.
I currently have bootloader unlocked, twrp installed, and my nexus 6p rooted. I'm running 7.1.2. I've also changed a line in the (build.prop) provisions in order to tether free (since I am on at&t)
Basically, I'm wanting to install pure nexus. I have the custom rom file and the vendor image file.
Before I install from, I'm wondering if I need to unroot first? Also curious if how "shamu" will affect things since I'm on Angler.
Thanks!
Okay you need to stop everything you're doing and read this topic until you know what is what.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928/page577
First of all, you obviously wouldn't flash a Shamu package on Angler. That's a great way to brick your phone, permanently.
Read every single step in that guide above, even if you don't think it's pertinent to what you're trying to do. Read it a second, third, fourth, fifth time until you know the steps by heart. Until you know what's next.
Also, download the correct Angler zip file and DO NOT FLASH A SHAMU ZIP ON YOUR PHONE.

You can follow the original advice I posted above. Read that thread I linked. It's ALL covered there. No sense in me writing everything up here when all you need to do is click the link I posted and follow the return to stock sections. There's even one for maintaining your data. Read the thread. It covers literally everything.

Sorry I don't mean to bug man but I'm so lost. I'm trying to find what you are referring me to but I'm not finding the info I need I haven't been on here too often so this is like a pain in my rear so far. Plus I'm a very hands on kinda learner so I need some like handicapped help lol If you don't mind I don't want to pester anyone...
I was able to load pure Nexus. I didn't realize there was a pure nexus rom with Angler on it.
My main question was if I had to reverse the root. But I'm good to good now.
Rom loaded, vendor image loaded, and Google Apps loaded.
So earlier I spent hours trying to fix this with no luck. I downloaded probably over 12 different roms, same thing. I've posted on the questions forum for help and we still couldn't figure it out.
It would go right back to recovery, so I was curious and flashed AOSIP custom rom and it booted right up!
From there I downloaded the stock recovery.img, flashed that. went to wipe, tried wiping regular, didnt work. So I clicked format data, it finished then installed the stock rom and everything is working.
This may not work for everyone, nor am I saying its a guaranteed fix, it's something that worked for me.
Let me know if this works for you if you want the stock recovery img, I can upload it too!
Huge shoutout to @Sergiocubano1 who spent hours trying to help me fix the issue. Happy flashing everyone, also if you go back to a custom recovery orangefox/twrp I would suggest creating a backup of your rom and putting the backup on your computer.
I wonder why it is not possible to restore this phone by putting it in EDL DOWNLOAD mode.
I would like to return stock with the RMX1931EX_11_A.08, because now with this system I suffer from random restarts but I am stopped for fear of brick.
On youtube there are guides for unbrick, but there are passwords to the software for flashing in EDL DOWNLOAD that they release for a fee of $ 20.
I honestly didn't believe this phone was so limited on a mod level.
Such a pity.

I wouldn't trust them. Did you try this method?
I don't trust them either. For this reason I have not tried.
however other devices like oneplus have the possibility.
to perform a total reset of the device through this EDL DOWNLOAD method.
in this device it is all very strange.
this device has very interesting specifications but is very limited.
I am looking for a system to do a total reset of the device with a stock version.

can you give me the link of the recovery stock?
thank you very much
@xHvlios Please how did you get the stock rom ozip into the stock recovery? I tried putting it in the device storage but when I go into stock recovery -> choose language -> install from storage device -> From phone storage; nothing happens. I also tried putting it in a flash drive but I can't see this device in the recovery.
