Very first impressions (1 hour after flashing)
Good:
1. The animations are much smoother compared to stock lolllipop
2. Loving the new UX4.0
3. They finally fixed the lock screen notifications slide down function (now you can slide down to expand all lockscreen notifications)
Bad:
1. Knock code is so cumbersome now that you need to have 6 taps in 3 different areas
2. I still prefer stock android lockscreen to LG lockscreen

the performance is off the chart battery life is laso awesome.with normal usage i almost got 6 hours of SOT.i miss the lg gallery hide feature.they removed it in marshmallow.i hope they put it in next update.other all good.and laso camera is faster and better than before.thats all.you wont be disappointed with this upgrade.no bugs so far.its rock stable man.

I am impressed with fluidity, no more UI crash, and battery life is great.

Guys dont get me wrong about my question but..Are we all talking about the Android M Oficial Stock Rom or any other custom moded? If yes drom where you have downloaded it ?

Its about Android M, officially released by LG only for Poland.
Refer link in first post to know what, where, how to get Android M in ur G3.

Flashed yesterday on twrp.
1) Amazing Fast UI, seems to be with Nova
2) Fantastic Transitions
3) Expandable Notifications
4) No LG Home Crash or Reboot or Hanging
Too shame only to be on lollipop modem, i can't wait to flash the M one

Even i am waiting for it to be officially released to international versions....

A great new feature which i missed badly "Switch to 4G when internet unavailable with WIFI"

Any changes in display saturation??As LG removed saturation few months after the G3 release.
And Display looks under saturated now.
Thanks,
WaveGuru

Rock stable and very fluid UI compared to Lollipop. I can't say anything about battery life yet, but as users above say it is good then it must be a positive thing to note about as well
Although the Knock Code passcode now requires you to have at least 6 taps, which is kind of weird as I'm used to my 4-tap pattern before.
That's all Happy New Year to everyone!

Camera improved.
Battery life improved.
UI is fast.
No lags noticed till now.

What are this wifi problems some peoples are facing? Is this a general problem or only some people

Hi guys. One thing. What about messaging on 6.0 update? Is there a lag on tapping conversations? Because on lollipop it takes about 1 second until conversation opens.. One more thing, any changes on keyboard?
Thank you for your replays

Good:
Beautiful UI
A lot faster than LP
Excellent battery
Bad:
Animations are as laggy as lollipop, i really wanna know how they can make 6.0 laggy, that's a shame.

i have no lag on messaging at all keyboard is great
UI is fluid
all in all marshmallow has made my G3 even better loving it.

I have tried it and got back to v21a since i couldn't install some apps and gps takes forever to lock...
Loved ui and smothness but to use phone everyday v21a is pretty ok...

Oversharpening still present?

[Q] I seek help and guidance

Hello everybody,
I am terribly sorry to do this to you, but I'm writing this on a very crappy tablet as my PC has run into quite a number of problems. That makes it very hard for me to dig for the info and my phone should arrive tomorrow. Anyway, now that I have somewhat justified this mischief of mine, I would like to ask you, the G2 people, a few questions. As I stated earlier, I ordered a G2 and I would like to root it and slap a good AOSP/Stock Android/AOKP/Nexus-ish ROM on it as quickly as possible. I have to do this over a friends PC, so I should tell him which files to download in order to make his life easier. Now, let's get to the questions. I live in Croatia (which is a part of the EU) so will I get the d802 variant of the phone? Which ROM would be most suitable for my needs, which are GTA San Andreas (when it comes out, trading a kidney for an early release), listening to music, a stock android experience and good battery life? The camera could come in handy because of all the holiday events taking place in the near future, but good camera quality isn't that much of a factor. Again, I am very sorry for asking these questions. If I had a normal PC, I would have searched for the answers myself, but I am desperate here. I'm going on a trip to visit my friend soon and I'd love to go there without the LG software and also without my phone getting stuck in bootloops or with bad battery life.
Thanks in advance!
Hi!
There's two paths:
Modding the stock rom
Benefits
Stable, fast
Excellent camera and audio quality
Bug free
Cons
Takes some modding in order to get it the way you like, if you like AOSP
You don't get the quick pulldown live tiles function from AOSP no matter what you do..
4.2.2
Recommended mods:
ROM and mods
StockROM from g.lewarne as a basis is a good choice
iOS7 navbar, looks just really nice in general
iOS7 icon pack 'Ios7 Flat' (dig around a bit for it) in conjunction with Unicon - an Xposed module (on Play Store) for nicer icons. Yuo can also use other icon packs of course. I say this because LGHome is recommended instead of ie. Nova Launcher, it's just smoother and nicer on the G2.
xdabebb camera mod for even better camera quality (the original app has its flaws)
Volume increase mod, the sound on stock is a bit low
V4A Viper4Android for even better sound
Freeze any unneccecary LG bloat through Titanium Backup (there's no need deleting them as the space isn't available anyway
iFont - changed system font to Helvetiva Neue, if you want the KitKat look you can change it to a light version of Roboto.
AOSP rom:
I've heard that Vanir rom is the smoothest atm
Pros:
4.4.x
AOSP apps
Lightweight
Cons
Unoptimized kernels
Not better battery time or performance
Feels rough around the edges
The implementation of things like the LED and 'knock off' and 'knock on' functions are not very good (you will learn to love them!)
audio quality is very bad, aosp camera also. there is a port of the LGcamera.apk, but it is very buggy unfortunately. Will make you upset very fast!
Thank you, you have been very helpful! I just might stick with stock for a while, at least to the end of the holidays.

Good luck with that, my preferred choice is stock, even coming from a Nexus 4, and being very design-concious

Please write some opinions on the camera quality of OmniROM. I'm a new user as well, still on stock though and I'm curious as to how the camera quality is in OmniROM.
Pozzz.

I've spent quite much time with many ROMs and the best I find in CyanogenMod 11. I get 0% battery loss over the night. I get the latest software with best features of CM. I get above 31,000 Antutu benchmarks on this ROM and GTA San Andreas works flawlessly! Don't forget to use the latest TWRP 2.6.3.4 and you're good to go with this amazing phone. You can even get the quick remote and the LG camera apk on CyanogenMod. Good luck!

Slimkat doesn't have many issues... its very nice small and stable as well. instead of knock off use the navbar ring to set lock screen on a vertical swipe knock off problem solved until it is fully implemented. knock on works perfect. Great KITKAT rom.
stockmod rom is EXCELLENT no other way to describe it - my only issue has been audio quality when playing on my stereo through jack is very crackly...

Android Lollipop 5.0.2 Bugs / Troubles / Grievances

I just updated to lollipop using the official leaked ota for XT1068 and to my surprise it was full of stutters everywhere.
I did a complete wipe including the internal storage and reinstalled all my apps again. But seems like animations have taken a serious hit wid the newer update.
Steps to reproduce stutters or lags
1.Swipe down from status bar
Click on users icon... And click more settings... Enjoy the lag...
2. Open app drawer (newer google now launcher)
Click on home button
Enjoy microstutters...
3. Go to settings
Click on any title..
The animation that seems to come from lower part of screen towards center also lags for the first time...
Material design is said to be accompanied by fluidity which i failed to find on a 1gb ram quad core cpu phone with a dedicated a305gpu..
One of the major hits was that switching data on now requires at least 4 touches...yes i know aosp has it like this but...Moto being an oem could have made it simpler... For someone like me who toggles data several times a day, this is hectic.
One thing again moto failed to do was to remove the drop down quick setting when a secured lock screen is used. How the hell it is secure when any one can swtich off the data and swtich on air plane mode or even use my phone as a wifi hotspot..
These are no personal modifications i require but these should been a must. for an oem like moto who favours stock android..its also necessary to put some easy things rather just making aosp as it is coz aosp is no where perfect.
People who say its a low end phone and m happy with whatever i m served on a low priced phone, plz stay away.
No i am not free enough to revert to kitkat as i have a busy life currently and i cant spend my every day reinstalling apps n setting them up ...
Edit -
Few more bugs
# wifi battery drain is present wid build 5.0.2. Battery is draining even when all the wifi toggles are off (including scanning while sleep) .. Have seen this on my nexus 5 too.... U can thank google for this and motorola for not patching it..
# net is switched on and working but it is not accompanied by E/H icon near the signal icon ... This bug is random and just showed up on my device...
Tried the 3 things you mentioned, and yes, I get it as well.
I thought it was only me, phew!
Report the same to official Moto support forums for MFN ,, maybe for these, moto is still not going global release ,, may be they would notice and try to improve

We're not soak testers though, just installed from zip.
I can confirm all three present ,,, but overall system response and especially ram management is improved ,,, I think these are aosp issues,
Not sure if bug or not, but suddenly the status bar has stopped changing colour according to the background. For example, first when I opened XDA on Chrome, the status bar changed to Orange. Same for MX Player. Now, it doesn't. Can anyone confirm or deny?
NOPE ,, checked it 3-4 times,, status bar color is still changing in xda chrome to orange (go to devices page of moto g ), and working in mx too
and the first lag pointed above (user profile ) is now much smoother now

Well, I changed back to "Merge apps and tabs" option and it's working in Chrome. Can't get it to work in MX Player. Which colour are you using for MX Player?
funny it was working with pink) ) selected but now its not working . In vlc its working and playstore is hard freezing sometimes ,, had to reboot it
I don't know if kk+xposed is better in performance than this stock lollipop. People that gave a try to this new build answer me please.

Do you have root? If yes, feel free to try my app/widget Toggle Data 5.0 (with Locale/Tasker support). The first post includes a fully functional, xda-exclusive free version.
I read on another thread about how battery life is worse when using Lollipop compared to Kit Kat any comment?
The key combination in recovery mode doesn't work, the factory reset from settings works, is this a bug?
Wow, these lags are not present in the Brazil Soak Test version. Glad I didn't rush after the Indian 5.0.2 Soak test.
@cygery Your data toggle app is #1 nothing has ever worked for toggling data before, now I've set it up with tasker perfectly, you da real MVP
i received the soak test for 5.0.2 and i have no problems with stutters, even doing the things you stated above. (XT1064)
Received 5.0.2 from soak test.
Was first upgraded to 5.0 then 9mb update to 5.0.1 and then 39mb update to 5.0.2
No lags whatsoever!

well, you can update if animations stuttering at some points after you start to do multitasking don't bother you, the system is pretty usable, but these animations lag is a killer for me, because material design its supposed to be more fluid than holo, and its not (at least on this device), but there's no lag for open apps and so on.

What really good about lollipop [Not talking about appearance] ?

I flashed official lollipop i didn't any new feature
Lollipop is all about the appearance.
I'm using TW Lollipop about a month and I don't see much difference in functions. But the battery lifetime is much better also much smoother and faster.

False.
Lollipop comes with a whole bunch of improvements to the system overall.
What I liked the most is the new ART system. It's blazing fast and stability is incredible. I would say that the new way of handeling software overall seems to be a lot better on L rather than on KK. You have a whole new system for the notification system as well, you have complete control of what apps are allowed to give you notifications or not. Security is improved as well. There's tons of changes under the hood, less experienced users may not notice these but it's a huge improvement of Android.
With TW rom no multi dpi...custom kernel.....
The whole point of Lollipop is the Material Design.
Which, if you hate white, is not an improvement. And with Xposed not working on ART, there's not a bloody thing I can do about solving that, quite literal, cause of migraines.
But it's fast, lighter and easy on the battery life.
You also get more control over your lockscreen notifications (turn then off individually), but you sacrifice lockscreen widgets completely as a result. You can, however, use the controls in the notifications (like LUX) from the lockscreen without swiping down the bar.
(I own an S5 running on official PHN 5.0)
Sent From My Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005 Using Tapatalk
As said above, the runtime change from Dalvik to ART is the biggest advantage of Lollipop over KitKat. Apps should consume less RAM, should be smoother (I have no idea whether that will be placebo or not), so less micro stuttering shall we say?
And appearance is there as usual, which I simply favour, I mean white vs black, all the gaga, personal choice, and you are not interested to know that anyway.
PS: I think Xposed just became compatible for Lollipop. Don't take my word for that though, just saw a tweet from Wanam, well he can't be wrong, but have no time to check in the matter further, but if that's true then I am simply flashing L as soon as its officially released. Incompatibility of Xposed was the biggest gripe of mine to not use L, and with its gone, well all is gooooooooooooooooood

Wallpaper on both home and lock screen
What i’ve noticed with this official Russian lollipop firmware on Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is that when i want to set a specific wallpaper (i mean when i go to gallery then choose a picture) both on lock screen and home screen then why are there two same options “Home and lock screens”? With the option first i can set wallpaper when there’s only a person on picture but when there are two people then it won’t let me to tap to face and save it. Option two is working fine, no problem at all. Thanks in advance for those who’ll answer me!
P.s.: If i wrote to wrong thread then i'm sorry but still hope there'll be someone who can answer me

5.1.1 Existence has been leaked, what do we want?

So 5.1.1 was leaked on a Google Dev page today (Source)
What would we want to see in this Lollipop update for the N6 seeming we know nothing about whats coming?
Me personally? A bit better battery life (I think the second .1 indicates new kernel?) and to clean up some of the bugs.

probably nothing beneficial for the N6... looks like it's only going to be for the N7 and N9... much like the 5.0.2 release was never "official" for the N6.
If its truly LMY47S, then it is not really 5.1.1.
That has the same build date code as 5.1.
I want faster responding sensors. Auto dimming, proximity sensor for phone calls sped up. Damn thing takes forever! As does auto rotate.
Want a rocketship for blasting off to Mars! Seems my Nexus6 has about everything else!
I'd like my battery to last over 9000 minutes of screen on time.
Three wishes, and none of them for an iPhone, M9, or S6.
Better battery optimization, improved camera and radio, and ability to switch to a dark Material theme.
Performance improvement for Camera, Dialer and occasional dropped frames in animations.
I would like google to unlock the notification led xD
Faster booting up and more options when shutting down.
Screen resolution options.
That's it for now, only had it for 2 days. Still learning about lollipop, I came from an galaxy s3.
Sexy wallpaper
- Notification lights back by default (non-rooted)
- (Better) hardware encryption for faster boot-up
Fix the carkit a2dp crashing when connected to a Bluetooth low energy device. I should not have to put my moto 360 in airplane mode every time I drive my car...

Why would Google implement something that is unnecessary and could cause problems? There hasn't been any need to close apps for quite a few iterations of android (actually an understatement)
With all these 'new' versions I find it interesting that N7 seems to be the problem child they can't get right.

Well it's using a tegra chip. All other nexus are using Qualcomm chips. Minus the 9 which is also late to the party.
The N6 is already a great device. What would make it stand above the rest is for it to be natively as smooth and lag free as the N5 is and to add some minor battery life improvements.

Lollipop vs kitkat : feedback

Hi all,
I made this post to enhance your experience with the Z3C. Indeed I thought since a few days that I was going to throw away my phone because of multitasking. This issue is not clear at all and not all people seemed to be touched by this. However I am, definitely.
This is my experience on lollipop: I can’t have 5 apps running at the same time, even if they’re very light. For example if I’m listening to music and using chrome, everytime I switch to another app, it needs to start again. It gets really annoying when I’m using some apps at the same time and I lose lots of time.
My first idea was to switch to another phone (even if I love the Z3C for other qualities like battery life or how compact it is) but this issue seems to touch every phone except HTC’s but I’m not happy with their battery life. My last choice was the iPhone 6 to get a nice user experience.
Then I thought a little and I remembered that in fact my experience was much much better on KitKat.
So I decided to try again kitkat and OMG!!! I couldn’t get back to L, seriously. If you have the same issues as I have, it’s definitely a solution.
So of course you’ll lose some interesting stuff from Lollipop and the interface doesn’t look as nice as on L but it is definitely worth it.
Indeed on Kitkat the battery is at least equal, maybe better.
But all the difference is about performances: you can’t even compare it. When I switched from KK to L I didn’t realize and I got accommodate to it but actually in this way we can feel the difference without any hesitation.
Now I can use at least 8 apps at the same time, everything is snappier and quicker. Really it changes my smartphone life.
So if you’re ready to leave L, join me with KK and you won’t regret. You’ll get a new phone (even it’s kinda absurd) and you’ll never want to change it for another. That’s the phone I have liked.
Thx for the comparison
I haven't tried Lollipop because there is nothing wrong with KitKat (+ROOT!) and there is nothing about Lollipop that I really need, it's mostly just eye-candy imho. Oh yes there is one small thing: The sparkly unlock animation in KK is the worst, haven't found a way to get rid of it yet... (except using a 3rd party lockscreen - which is something I'm not willing to do because I love my lockscreen widgets, any suggestions?)
If you miss the Lollipop stuff here's some suggestions:
-NiLS(app): Gives you customizable lockscreen notifications like Lollipop with any lockscreen
-Nova Launcher(app): Just got a huge Lollipop update, the average person won't know the difference to lollipop when looking at the launcher
-Install Lollipop theme to change nav-bar icons (or use xposed or any other method)
-Sony is pretty amazing with app updates, so all the independent apps like Music are Material Design anyway
Cheers
Well. The problem with multitasking happens on all Xperia Z3 phones with Sony´s Lollipop (Yes, I confirmed it after test with 5 different Xperia Z3 phones from friends and family).
After I get frustrated with this problem, I also think in change the phone for an iPhone, but lol, iPhone have similar problems with browsers that can´t keep various tabs opened and ends refreshing all tabs, and other similar multitasking problems because of limited ram. I maybe change my Z3 for an Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge in a month (Or when the Galaxy S6 gets Android 5.1 update) because the camera of the Z3 is very bad in quality for me, but until then, I found a "fix" for the multitasking problem:
I finally "fixed" it. ¿How?: Simple, I just installed Cyanogenmod 12.1 in my phone, and it is just... just, very beatiful in multitasking. I can have a loooot of apps opened and get back to one app after a day and they are still opened, it´s is what I ever expected from a phone like Xperia Z3, is amazing. It is because Cyanogenmod is always updated and have all the latest fixes and their own fixes also. I heard that they have fixed more than 51 memory leaks (included the critical ones) in his 12.1 version. Also I get in love with Cyanogenmod extra features.
Yes, I lose all DRM protected features from camera and also PS4 Remote, but meh, camera sucks anyway in stock firmware, and is only a little worse in Cyanogenmod. Just to be careful I backed up my TA partition before unlock my bootloader and go into cyanogenmod.
Hope this helps to all guys that have lollipop, and need a true multitasking on his Xperia Z3 or Z3 Compact.
Aside from multitasking Lollipop seems still very beta on xperia to me. Mind u I own the Smartphone for only 3 days, but the amount of times it made me go nuts, not even my evo 3d managed over 3 years. Phone ran really hot and sort of slugish on lp, but waht reall drove me crazy was Bluetooth Audio... It made my whole phone crash after starting to crackle on my soundwaver (bluetooth speaker).... It wouldnt even play over pc... Back to kitkst and all is fine and dandy. I can actually feel i run a newer handset than before (evo 3D). Ill probably switch to CM some timecdown the road, when lp is fully working.
The stock lollipop build is beta version at best. The debloated lollipop build found here on XDA is beyond acceptable, almost good. The stock kitkat build, though, still has the upper hand. I reverted back today to an old backup and there's no match between the debloated lollipop and the stock kitkat. Stock kitkat wins hands down.
For some balance ive no such issues with lollipop albeit i agree there isnt much of an incentive to upgrade from kitkat. I dont use chrome though. Chrome uses a scary lot of memory. (i use firefox)
Cm12 uses less memory than stock sony roms so that leaves more to chrome, which explains that i guess.
My only complaint is few UI elements that are not very material, you know.
I don´t use Chrome too, I use Cm Browser that dont use a lot of Ram too...
The problem is not how much Ram uses the system, the problem is that Stock Sony in 5.0.2 have a Bad Memory Management and still have Memory Leaks (Except the crititcal ones that are already fixed in Sony Stock Lollipop Firm).
In CM 12.1 a loot of those memory leaks are already fixed, so that also explains why Cyanogenmod works a lot better with multitasking and can keep a lot of apps without close.

Cheers

Thanks for the apps. I'm happy not to be the only one to have made this step!

CM12.1 alternative is good to know then. If I miss L too much, I guess I'll give a try to CM.

Xposed Installer + Xperia Xposed should make you happy.
I see lollipop better than kitkat, phone run faster and smoother. Good update

Yes, is smoother, but we are talking about the multitasking that is not so good as it have to be...
KitKat has much more battery time than lollipop.
What do yolu think

I think that it's a wrong statement. The same power usage curves and same percentage at the end of the day for me.
However, you might be using apps that don't behave well on LP.

that was my observation.
KK were amazing for my needs (good battery, smooth).
Lollipop looks just the same.
I always disable animations and whatnot, so I'm kind of an odd user.
to me LLP is good except the quick toggle and sound profile
i need to swipe twice for quick toggle and to swipe twice to close the quick toggle.
using volume button for sound profile annoys me as when i wanna silent my phone while plating music can't be done
multitasking so far is good for me
battery life is the same and in fact idle time is better in LLP
most of the apps improve smoothness in LLP except a few

Could you elaborate on that
I have tried to like Lollipop, but the annoyances i really have, is the swipe down quick menu, prefer the kitkat one, and i really dislike, the user icon on the Lockscreen status bar, At the moment, i have reverted back to kitkat, but would love to give lollipop more time, but after a day, i alway's revert back.

You wanted to get rid of the "sparkly unlock animation" of your Z3 Compact, right?
Do you want the classic Android locker instead?
The original Xperia unlock:

Install Xperia Xposed then this:
