Hey guys. Just installed android 5.0 on my N9005 32gb and although it works fine, haven't really found any bugs, there are things that annoy me. Firstly, even on L, I seem to still be on Dalvik Cache with no option to turn on ART (not even in developer options). Secondly, running it on UK, yet I do not have my keyboard symbols...rather unpleasant for me, to be honest.
Many things that were expected to have been in L i seem to not have ( seriously, still just ripple and watercolour lockscreens only?!)... i dont know, maybe I had too high expectations for it. But right now, especially without Xposed, i am not really impressed. What about your thoughts?
for me

im disappointing a little because samsung didnt update note 3 camera with s5 i like the fast focus and faster processing which s5 camera software have - i dont care about those gimmik selective focus or slow motion or whatever / the multi window seems not support all apps i tried install application which make all apps supported but nothing happen same thing happen to the pen window / i hate smart select in newer air command when i select a video it takes it as image not video like scarpbook was doing now i have to share link to scrapbook .
what i like =
my note become really fast and premium cause i love those white menu everywhere / they didnt make the button like s5 so we still get the menu button like note 3 / my magazine is still like note 3 instead of bad s5 or note 4 gimmik you just swipe up to open magazine / newer touchwiz launcher
so i feel like i dont want to downgrade samsung make a good move this time
The multuwindow seems like its still work in progress... i really like the floating windows, but to me it doesnt seem like i have access to them so easily.
As for the "premium" white theme, that is, in my opinion, the dumbest, most counterproductive thing that Samsung could do. With their great AMOLED screens to put white stuff everywhere?! Seriously? White, which consumes our battery the most? Black menus, in my opinion, not only do they look better, but upon some tests on 4.4, they increased my battery a hell damn lot. I do love the good old MyMagazine though, gotta admit, but other than that, there are so many things that they either did not include, or they miserably failed with (again, still Dalvik, on LOLLIPOP?!).
I am, by all means, unimpressed and quite fisappointed by what touchwiz has done to Android L
so.. nobody read is a "UNOFICIAL" leaked ?, update for N9005 is in 02/2015.,
@ op holy ****, does running dalvik mean xposed can run? did you try?
I for one am very pleased with this update. It brought the note 4 pen features, pulling windows from the corner works great and makes things easier, recents looks awesome, animations are beatiful and minimalistic.
This is the best Samsung update yet, without a doubt. It's like the Samsung team hired totally different people for designing touch wiz. The color scheme could be better but it's definetly heading towards the right direction.
That, and the small amount of time it took them to make this update happen, is proof that Samsung are finally changing their policy. Looks like the small sales of the s5 this year woke them up.
Well, @lvnatic, you do make a pretty strong case
Lets just hope the final version will bring even more good stuff to it, and then a dev to make us a black/dark mod of it so my eyes won't hurt
So 5.1.1 was leaked on a Google Dev page today (Source)
What would we want to see in this Lollipop update for the N6 seeming we know nothing about whats coming?
Me personally? A bit better battery life (I think the second .1 indicates new kernel?) and to clean up some of the bugs.

probably nothing beneficial for the N6... looks like it's only going to be for the N7 and N9... much like the 5.0.2 release was never "official" for the N6.
If its truly LMY47S, then it is not really 5.1.1.
That has the same build date code as 5.1.
I want faster responding sensors. Auto dimming, proximity sensor for phone calls sped up. Damn thing takes forever! As does auto rotate.
Want a rocketship for blasting off to Mars! Seems my Nexus6 has about everything else!
I'd like my battery to last over 9000 minutes of screen on time.
Three wishes, and none of them for an iPhone, M9, or S6.
Better battery optimization, improved camera and radio, and ability to switch to a dark Material theme.
Performance improvement for Camera, Dialer and occasional dropped frames in animations.
I would like google to unlock the notification led xD
Faster booting up and more options when shutting down.
Screen resolution options.
That's it for now, only had it for 2 days. Still learning about lollipop, I came from an galaxy s3.

- Notification lights back by default (non-rooted)
- (Better) hardware encryption for faster boot-up

To you and others in this thread - You're on XDA and many of the feature requests are available in most custom ROMs. "I don't run rooted ROMs" or "I'd like those features to be in stock ROM" will probably be your reply, to which I will say, why are you commenting on a developer / Android customization forum?

Why would Google implement something that is unnecessary and could cause problems? There hasn't been any need to close apps for quite a few iterations of android (actually an understatement)
With all these 'new' versions I find it interesting that N7 seems to be the problem child they can't get right.

Well it's using a tegra chip. All other nexus are using Qualcomm chips. Minus the 9 which is also late to the party.
The N6 is already a great device. What would make it stand above the rest is for it to be natively as smooth and lag free as the N5 is and to add some minor battery life improvements.
Hi all,
I made this post to enhance your experience with the Z3C. Indeed I thought since a few days that I was going to throw away my phone because of multitasking. This issue is not clear at all and not all people seemed to be touched by this. However I am, definitely.
This is my experience on lollipop: I can’t have 5 apps running at the same time, even if they’re very light. For example if I’m listening to music and using chrome, everytime I switch to another app, it needs to start again. It gets really annoying when I’m using some apps at the same time and I lose lots of time.
My first idea was to switch to another phone (even if I love the Z3C for other qualities like battery life or how compact it is) but this issue seems to touch every phone except HTC’s but I’m not happy with their battery life. My last choice was the iPhone 6 to get a nice user experience.
Then I thought a little and I remembered that in fact my experience was much much better on KitKat.
So I decided to try again kitkat and OMG!!! I couldn’t get back to L, seriously. If you have the same issues as I have, it’s definitely a solution.
So of course you’ll lose some interesting stuff from Lollipop and the interface doesn’t look as nice as on L but it is definitely worth it.
Indeed on Kitkat the battery is at least equal, maybe better.
But all the difference is about performances: you can’t even compare it. When I switched from KK to L I didn’t realize and I got accommodate to it but actually in this way we can feel the difference without any hesitation.
Now I can use at least 8 apps at the same time, everything is snappier and quicker. Really it changes my smartphone life.
So if you’re ready to leave L, join me with KK and you won’t regret. You’ll get a new phone (even it’s kinda absurd) and you’ll never want to change it for another. That’s the phone I have liked.
Thx for the comparison
I haven't tried Lollipop because there is nothing wrong with KitKat (+ROOT!) and there is nothing about Lollipop that I really need, it's mostly just eye-candy imho. Oh yes there is one small thing: The sparkly unlock animation in KK is the worst, haven't found a way to get rid of it yet... (except using a 3rd party lockscreen - which is something I'm not willing to do because I love my lockscreen widgets, any suggestions?)
If you miss the Lollipop stuff here's some suggestions:
-NiLS(app): Gives you customizable lockscreen notifications like Lollipop with any lockscreen
-Nova Launcher(app): Just got a huge Lollipop update, the average person won't know the difference to lollipop when looking at the launcher
-Install Lollipop theme to change nav-bar icons (or use xposed or any other method)
-Sony is pretty amazing with app updates, so all the independent apps like Music are Material Design anyway
Cheers
Well. The problem with multitasking happens on all Xperia Z3 phones with Sony´s Lollipop (Yes, I confirmed it after test with 5 different Xperia Z3 phones from friends and family).
After I get frustrated with this problem, I also think in change the phone for an iPhone, but lol, iPhone have similar problems with browsers that can´t keep various tabs opened and ends refreshing all tabs, and other similar multitasking problems because of limited ram. I maybe change my Z3 for an Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge in a month (Or when the Galaxy S6 gets Android 5.1 update) because the camera of the Z3 is very bad in quality for me, but until then, I found a "fix" for the multitasking problem:
I finally "fixed" it. ¿How?: Simple, I just installed Cyanogenmod 12.1 in my phone, and it is just... just, very beatiful in multitasking. I can have a loooot of apps opened and get back to one app after a day and they are still opened, it´s is what I ever expected from a phone like Xperia Z3, is amazing. It is because Cyanogenmod is always updated and have all the latest fixes and their own fixes also. I heard that they have fixed more than 51 memory leaks (included the critical ones) in his 12.1 version. Also I get in love with Cyanogenmod extra features.
Yes, I lose all DRM protected features from camera and also PS4 Remote, but meh, camera sucks anyway in stock firmware, and is only a little worse in Cyanogenmod. Just to be careful I backed up my TA partition before unlock my bootloader and go into cyanogenmod.
Hope this helps to all guys that have lollipop, and need a true multitasking on his Xperia Z3 or Z3 Compact.
Aside from multitasking Lollipop seems still very beta on xperia to me. Mind u I own the Smartphone for only 3 days, but the amount of times it made me go nuts, not even my evo 3d managed over 3 years. Phone ran really hot and sort of slugish on lp, but waht reall drove me crazy was Bluetooth Audio... It made my whole phone crash after starting to crackle on my soundwaver (bluetooth speaker).... It wouldnt even play over pc... Back to kitkst and all is fine and dandy. I can actually feel i run a newer handset than before (evo 3D). Ill probably switch to CM some timecdown the road, when lp is fully working.
The stock lollipop build is beta version at best. The debloated lollipop build found here on XDA is beyond acceptable, almost good. The stock kitkat build, though, still has the upper hand. I reverted back today to an old backup and there's no match between the debloated lollipop and the stock kitkat. Stock kitkat wins hands down.
For some balance ive no such issues with lollipop albeit i agree there isnt much of an incentive to upgrade from kitkat. I dont use chrome though. Chrome uses a scary lot of memory. (i use firefox)
Cm12 uses less memory than stock sony roms so that leaves more to chrome, which explains that i guess.
My only complaint is few UI elements that are not very material, you know.
I don´t use Chrome too, I use Cm Browser that dont use a lot of Ram too...
The problem is not how much Ram uses the system, the problem is that Stock Sony in 5.0.2 have a Bad Memory Management and still have Memory Leaks (Except the crititcal ones that are already fixed in Sony Stock Lollipop Firm).
In CM 12.1 a loot of those memory leaks are already fixed, so that also explains why Cyanogenmod works a lot better with multitasking and can keep a lot of apps without close.

I think that it's a wrong statement. The same power usage curves and same percentage at the end of the day for me.
However, you might be using apps that don't behave well on LP.

that was my observation.
KK were amazing for my needs (good battery, smooth).
Lollipop looks just the same.
I always disable animations and whatnot, so I'm kind of an odd user.
to me LLP is good except the quick toggle and sound profile
i need to swipe twice for quick toggle and to swipe twice to close the quick toggle.
using volume button for sound profile annoys me as when i wanna silent my phone while plating music can't be done
multitasking so far is good for me
battery life is the same and in fact idle time is better in LLP
most of the apps improve smoothness in LLP except a few

I have tried to like Lollipop, but the annoyances i really have, is the swipe down quick menu, prefer the kitkat one, and i really dislike, the user icon on the Lockscreen status bar, At the moment, i have reverted back to kitkat, but would love to give lollipop more time, but after a day, i alway's revert back.

You wanted to get rid of the "sparkly unlock animation" of your Z3 Compact, right?
Do you want the classic Android locker instead?

Hey.
I have SM-N900 with 4.4.2 and rooted.
My phone start to be **** and work with lags so..... its for wipe and install the new update.
so I saw this rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...s-android-development/mar-10-pekakas-t3051018
and he looking good and everything
but he say that I need to have 5.0 first to install it..
how ?
and why every dev hate the Exynos ? no love for him...
sometime I want to install CM but.... the pen will stop work and more
Just go here, http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-N900/
Download a 5.0 ROM, and flash it via Odin. If you find a ROM for your region then obviously download that. Done. Then you can flash any custom ROM you want.
Why Exynos hate? Well I am an idiot and as far as I know devs need to spend quite a lot of more time developing for Exynos than Snapdragon, and obviously they choose to do the easier work.
And a friendly suggestion, please STAY AWAY from those AOSP based ROMs. They will make the phone half disabled, I am just coming from one just yesterday, and one more thing, they aren't that much smoother than TouhcWiz Lollipop either, which was my main reason to flash such a ROM, and literally waste a full two hour! Call it LagWiz, CrapWiz, BloatWiz, whatever the heck you want, I am not going anywhere near those AOSP things ever again.

ok I understand now how to install 5.0. thanks
but why to stay away from AOSP ?
I saw this " https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYofb7zYrt4 " and his phone work great and fast also his pen work..
and what do you mean half disabled ? you talk about features of samsung ?
Seriously I can't stand my phone anymore with lags and full RAM use for unknown reason ( and even I use Greenify / Wanam / bootmanager )
still he work like crap and after restart he start to work good again for like... a few hours or days
man I really need to change
Well several number of reasons really. The deal breaker for me was there was no option to change the display mode! I mean I am talking about the different display profiles, Cinema, Adapt, Professional etc, I couldn't choose that, and I was stuck with the default Adaptive one, which is way too over saturated! Then there are the S Pen things, this and that software is there, but nothing could be as smooth as having Action Memo merged with S Note, on which I heavily depend. Then there is the camera, and the lack of 60 frames video. Also the camera photo quality in general, is it comparable to TouchWiz's stock camera? I doubt!
I was ready to compromise on all of these, but that lack of display profile thing was impossible for me to bear.
Honestly there is very minimal lag with TouchWiz 5.0, OF3, on my N9005. But I think bloody Samsung didn't implement the TW on Exynos as good as they did on SD devices, so maybe you indeed face some lag issues. I myself couldn't bear the KitKat or Jelly Bean or whatever the heck it was on my I9500, lag, bugs, what not, but TouchWiz Lollipop is an entirely different thing. I also don't see any low RAM issue at all!
In any case, if you want to try out some AOSP stuffs, do that, it's your phone after all...

For people like you that note with its bloatware is meant for, aosp based roms are never a thing for you.
When I bought note 3 i did it for its hardware specs and really hated tw. Never gonna back to that crap.
What you miss we others that love cm find a way to live better with than living with tw.
LOL I always see these things/debates posted of not using AOSP or TouchWiz... it's really a preference... but here's the thing, TW based phones are usually more stable. The only reason being is, they have less changes to the core of the OS. AND you don't have to use TW (at least not the slow ugly launcher). TW is crap, you can use another launcher and debloat - to have something purring. AOSP do something similar, but of course it's not as stable --- but this is more developer dependent. Some are better than others, some load it with their own bloat/crapwear (because they think it's what others will want).
In conclusion... lol make your own conclusion. Be sure to read the forums (not just first and last pages) for any problems on the rom you choose. I would highly recommend something that has minimal changes, but lets you add or remove what you want.
Good luck!

im not sure about 5.1 but most probably we'll get it.however as for android M its mostly a no from me :/
I'm not even sure for 5.1, seems that samsung prefer to focus on newest phone and let their old premium flagship behind
I don't think we're inline for M, but we can easily flash a ported Note 5 ROM.
N9005 HLTE, Rom: Audax_L, Kernel: Audax, Recovery: TWRP
Yes but I'm talking about official update
I hope we do get an update because 5.0 is broken for me.
Battery life almost half what kitkat was and I have a Pebble smartwatch that doesn't stay connected because of the bluetooth issues introduced with 5.0
It's broken because you didn't do a clean installation, 5.0 is great, battery life is better than it ever was on Kitkat!

It was never great.
It isn't great because Lollipop isn't great anyway! You troll too much!
I have been doing some reading and i will try a clean install to try and improve battery. Anything worth a shot.
But 5.0 still introduced a bluetooth bug that prevents my pebble smartwatch staying paired - I believe 5.1 fixes this.
Take a look: HERE.
Only the lockscreen pointers are meaningful, others aren't. Battery life is indeed better in Lollipop than KitKat. Samsung has brought back Silent mode, and yes, it is the True Silent Mode, can't believe how and why Google fraked it up! Can't say about Multi tasking, I just need to three or four open apps, and they work more than fine. Can't comment on Apps' compatibility either, I only need a 50 of handful apps that's all. But yes, the Lock screen notifications are fraked up, the Lock screen management was indeed much better in KitKat. But overall that dark crap of KitKat was very tiresome for me. I love how Lollipop looks, how it works, and this is 5.0, so I am sure a fixed version of 5.0, i.e 5.1 will work much better.
5.1.1 probably. 6 sure not

Not necessarily.
1. Mass production doesn't produce equal products, it produce similar products. All of them within a range of acceptance.
2. You're commenting in a global forum, people don't only own N9005s.
3. With the huge amount of people here, something's gonna fail. It's a matter of statistics.
4. A device that's so likely to fall, get hit or suffer different conditions is gonna react differently.
Anyway, I'm not commenting anymore here because it's completely off-topic.
