I have finally discovered the fix to the slow scrolling issues.
I have never seen a flagship with such a poor scroll response that makes scrolling through long lists/webpages unbearable.
It requires Xposed (this should be the first thing you install after rooting anyways) and this module called XuiMod.
This module allows you to adjust the scrolling response of your phone through a few variables. The variable we're interested in is "Scroll Friction". It should be ideally set to around 50 units to improve scroll response. Make sure to reboot so that the change is applied system-wide.
I have not played around with the other settings, but perhaps "Max Fling Velocity" is another variable we could look into to improve the scroll response.
This does not help in making KnockON/Knock Code more accurate or responsive. It boggles me that LG managed to muck this up when the feature should have matured after their experience with past flagships.

Just installed it, thanks... Is scrolling the same as the touch issue?

I wouldn't say that it's the same, but rather a subset of the touch issue. I still get issues like my lists jumping to the top for no apparent reason while normally scrolling (e.g Instagram) and also taps on items I do not wish to open.
The touchscreen and locked bootloader are the only things holding this phone back. Users shouldn't need to look for aftermarket solutions to solve their problems with the phone.
I have installed the module, setup the scrolling friction to 40, and I really like how it moves. Thanks for the insight.

Happy to know! Scrolling feels as good as my Nexus 5 now!
Interesting that a lot of people with N5 went to G4, I am also one of them. The G4 is not quite as smooth as N5,but it is close now, and the extra's that he has more than compensate for a bit less smoothness.

It would have already been 1 year and around 6 months if you bought the N5 at launch like me. The Nexus 6 wasn't a true Nexus phone, and I couldn't wait for the 6P as the N5 was showing its age. Figured that the G4 was the best choice at the time, considering that it has MicroSD expansion and the camera isn't a potato. However, the touchscreen issues are just inexcusable. It's impossible that almost all review sites missed out this major flaw, that the touch response is horrible even until now. No one can say that the Knock Code works as good as it does on the G3, which is just crazy considering that the G4 should have it work even better since it's LG's latest flagship.
I do not have any touch issues, or at least I have not noticed them, except for unlocking the knock code, that works 50%.

That's pretty unacceptable though. It should work 100 %.
I agree with you 100%, but, in my view, the root of the problem is not touch control (digitizer or whatever hardware) but the implementation of knock code.
Works pretty well! Thanks. I'll check some others values and report back.

Yeah, seems like everything is related to touch as you have to touch before you can scroll... Is there a fix for the touch issue?

I did a few weeks ago except I don't know if it's running or not as it always opens after booting up on it's own and I click on both start options, they both won't start. The last version which was updated last week won't even run, I open and it flashes and closes immediately.

UPDATE: I would greatly appreciate it if some other users would make similar screen caps as reported below who have not made any changes to the build.prop.
As also pointed out by Mario in his XDA review of the Note 5, scrolling through lists in apps leaves a lot to be desired for. The general fluidity of the UI as well is not up to scratch compared to best out there.
I guess the reason why there aren't more people posting about this is that it's somewhat a subjective thing. Depending on what device you are coming from, the Note 5 might seem buttery smooth. But that is simply not true. I have a OnePlus One updated to the latest CyanogenOS version and it simply a lot smoother. This can easily be shown by using the Profile GPU rendering setting in the developer options and performing the same action on both phones.
(all done after fresh reboot and all other apps closed, same WiFi and logins).

For those that don't know, the horizontal line is the threshold for smooth scrolling (60fps). Anything crossing the treshold can be noticed as jerky behaviour or stuttering. The high outliers are really very noticeable.
Almost without fault is the scrolling on the OP1 of higher frame rate than the Note 5. The Note is almost always flirting with the threshold and the real dropouts are also more pronounced.
Evidence to support what many of us are noticing. Thanks. I have the oneplus one also and noticed the scrolling issues immediately when I switched over. No lag, just choppy scrolling. You're rooted right? Did you try the build.prop changes Mario posted from the s6 and note 4? Some have said it made those other devices feel smoother.

One of the commenters mentioned enabling FHA in build.prop instead which I was reading is what people were doing on the s6 after 5.1.1 rolled out and deleting all DHA parameters. I wonder if this would work on note 5 also? Anyone with root try this?

nah the init.d script is for swapping, not necessarily needed. even if you want to implement it, you couldnt because no rom have init.d support yet.

I don't think it's a defective unit. You can see in the XDA review of the N5 similar screen caps as what I posted. Seems your build.prop is working.
Got my phone on Friday and got it all set up. Noticed on Saturday that my scrolling is stuttering; animations seem to be laggy, and overall the phone feels slightly sluggish.
Any ideas? My Nexus 6 is buttery smooth and that's what I was expecting with this phone too.
My experience in just two days of use is similar. Not nearly as smooth as my N6. Scrolling in Chrome is where I see the most..... jankyness

Just a basic trick is animations under dev option
Speed it up or turn off. Cause I have none of these issues. Are you rooted and using kernel apps. Maybe something you changed. I used kernel auditor and tried powersave but really bogged so went to on demand. No problems underclocked a couple of steps on cpu too.

Nope not rooted. Speeding up animations won't fix the stuttering, especially when scrolling. The phone feels like it's running in battery saving mode all the time. Same apps I have loaded on my Nexus 6.
CPU Spy only sees a max frequency of 1440 for me. Maybe there's an incompatibility issue with the app as I swore this phone was 1.8ghz

Scrolling performance for me has been noticeably worse than my ancient Galaxy S3, especially with Chrome, with only a small set of apps installed. No SD card is installed at this time. I'm chalking it up to having no ad blocking yet and the shear number of pixels being pushed but it's still a bummer.

MediaPad M3 is my first huawei tablet, and I'm experiencing some bad behaviours with the touch screen. I have a Nexus 6p (created by huawei as well) and the touchscreen is fantastic, I never feel any lag or bad behaviour with this screen. But in the m3 I've noticed that randomly the screen is not responding accurately.
Is there any calibration or configuration that I've missed? Is it a manufacturing defect?
Thanks in advance
Does it make a difference if you are using the tablet in landscape or portrait mode? It seems to me that portrait mode is more responsive.
For me, both modes are a little no-responsive. Are you experiencing this from the begining?
Since I have reduced the resolution to 1920X1200, the sensitivity is significantly better. Perhaps the tablet with the 2K resolution is easily overstrained.
Hi, can any of you make a short video showing the sensitivity issue perhaps compared to a phone? I'm thinking about purchasing this tablet but touch screen sensitivity if it's not smooth it's a major annoyance for me... Thank you!
Make sure it's not a pressure issue. I've had this on my tablets if I squeeze too hard on one side (for example if I hold with one hand and navigate with the other).

Because while playing game with fast paced flashing light stuff like disney tsum tsum this tablet running slow. Hopefully change resolution or dpi will help.

Yes, the screen is definitely laggy and misses touches even on the performance mode. Here are two of my videos comparing the M3 to the Nexus 9. Could this be a software/driver issue and a future update is a remedy? Thinking of returning the device cause in the long run this will become even more frustrating than the general slowness of the Nexus 9 (it's ok once it gets going).

Hello guys,
I also have multiple touchscreen problems with mine (bought one month ago, EU).
Sometimes a zone of the screen simply stop responding to touches (located near the bottom right of the screen), i have to reboot the tablet and everything is back to normal.
Today the tablet didn't work well while pressing and moving (working for 1s or so), i couldn't move an application on the drawer to another slot for example.
Putting the screen in 1920px helped a lot, but i still have misses, i also think it's a software issue, since everything seems to work normally after a reboot.
Exactly the same problem.

Could you please record a quick demonstration clip of rapid finger movements using the touch screen test app? Now that I've used the tablet for a couple of days I don't notice the lag that much unless I use the Nexus 9 in comparison - then the lag becomes very much apparent.

butter smooth i cant believe how polished it is now
Ok I've had nougat now only for 2 days and finding it smooth and very good on battery.
My phone was locked to VOD so because I don't like there software on there I decided to get it unlocked once that was done decided to flash BTU.
People did say I would lose wifi calling but I don't mind I don't use that feature.
So I flashed btu and then after that wiped cache then done another reset so my csc would show btu which worked got everything put back on no faults running smooth and guess what I'm running btu and wifi calling still there.
Left phone on over night didn't realise I had left location on but only had 2% battery drain.
Installed it on 930f and found that adaway, root explorer and some others simply would not work due to some data partition issue.
Never had this issue til nougat came along.
Was so loking forward to using and did for very brief time, had to go back to v6 for now
Pretty good apart from battery sot. Completely stock no root.

I've had hardly any problems at all in over a month using it. The battery life is better for me than it was on mm and I've factory reset multiple times to try fix it on mm. I'm using QHD and it's on normal power mode.
All is fine here, very satisfied, battery life good even better than MM, go for it

No Notifications while sleeping
Hello, I like the update like the performance profiles and "better battery life".
But some apps aren't getting (immediate) push. Most noticeable Google Inbox. And also if there are a lot of Google play store app updates, the connection fails after one or two apps have updated while phone is in standby. I think this is due to overly aggressive Doze feature.
Many times when I pickup my phone and turn it on I immediately get some emails.
Not all apps are affected for example my Whatsapp is still receiving immediate push notifications.
So yeah I like the battery life, but it should not "aggressively" shut down apps (Doze) to achieve this.
Smoothest most polished Android experience yet
Think I'm gonna wait for 7.1.1 before updating... heard the battery life not great after updating to 7.0. Can anyone confirm?
Not for me, I'm getting even better results than MM. But other people are complaining about less than stellar battery performance...

I think everyone is different I was on VOD and flashed btu and my battery life is awsome.
What i think makes the difference is when flashing some people may not do factory reset.
Noted.
Will backup, factory reset and then flash.
Let's see...

Good choice!
Remember, the less apps and settings you restore, the better it is for stability of your new installation. I've let Google reinstall my apps from fresh after going from MM to Nougat and not restored anything else but my docs, pictures etc

I had the same issue with a mail app (nine) of not receiving push notifications after 5 minutes of unuse. "Doze on the go" is very aggressive and Samsung has made it very difficult to exclude specific apps.
Here is the solution:
Settings, applications, three dots menu, special access, optimise battery usage, chose to show all applications and only then you can disable doze for certain apps.
100% working. To be sure I also excluded the app from being monitored in the power saving menu.
it's good, even better than MM.
the main thing I miss is good lock, though. the standard samsung ui (grace ux) is a bit ugly. lockscreen notifications are ... ugly. just a plain rectangle with sharp edges. actually all notifications look like ****.
all else is really good.

Working great! Just a Whatsapp bug with sending pics so far. The keyboard disappears when adding caption but you can still type. Just can't see what your typing. Otherwise overall refreshing.
Anyone have the sprint update yet

The Whatsapp issue has been fixed in G930FXXU1DQB7_G930FOJV1DQB7_TUR update for me. Confirmed!
Was a firmware issue, and not a Whatsapp issue
Overall I really like it so far. The one sore spot for me is the update to the camera app, I prefered the MM version.
So I think I found a way to actually feel some slow down on my phone. Have an uptime of 4 weeks straight, no restarts, no drained battery. [emoji23] After a quick 20 second restart, it's back to normal. I think I usually get the monthly updates around that length of time anyway. So it's hard to go past 30ish days unless you skip one for a while.

Heh I never make it passed the latest Flash Kernel update.
I restart at least once, if not twice a day
Mostly because of changing substratum themes and a little bit because of OCD lol
I've gotten like 2 or 3 months before on 6p running pure Nexus... I think.
Once every few days because of Adaway or Kernel Updates. With my 6p before you had to restart once every 60 Seconds because this piece of junk was unusable otherwise performance wise.

After every monthly update, otherwise my phone is on 24/7. I think I've only run out of battery life once since getting it that caused a reboot.

Is there a way to check it on Android P? I can't find the option ?
Yeah it appears to be they removed it from the settings. I'm sure there's probably an app but I'm not going to install one just for that. LOL.

Pixel 2 XL, Android Oreo, uptime: 5800+ hours.
System works ok, only camera begin to show some problems (some pictures are blank - not saved - or there is some memory leak / instable or my internal storage is corrupted). But overall, after all that hours i'm very impressed with how well system works.

Eh, i would like to see when system will go down, because of memory leakes or similar. It's really stable, only camera is now pure gamble - i never know if picture will be ok or not (see attachment). I will try to achieve 6K hours (another week and a half), then i will reboot & update the system Only because of camera is now really unreliable, other is fine.

Maybe they'll magically appear on Pie. [emoji23]

No, they are lost, because camera app has a problem. Im gonna unistall/install so maybe this will fix it
Edit: doesn't help. But turning HDR+ off helps. Seems postprocessing not working as it should. Ehhh.
I give up, i need a working camera.

Yeah I'm liking beta 4 and all the new looks and features especially the gesture navigation. It'll get even more improved with beta 5.

I don't use Magisk so don't know how it's been. Dark Mode is very nice.
