Fast Charging Question - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys.
I was wondering if anybody had problems with fast charging ( keeping the feature ON all the time) ?
Do you think this will damage the battery over time?
And also, did you ever got different battery stats on normal vs fast charging?
Cheers!

[Q] Battery charge methods and tips

Hi everyone, i was wondering if someone can tell me if charging the battery from 10-15% to 100% its bad for my device? Also which recomendations you suggest for reduce battery damage on the device? Ive read about the li-polymer batteries and some says that is bad for the battery to leave it conected log periods of time, also other mentioned that leaving the battery till it reach 10-15% is good method for prolong its battery life, but imnot sure about this tips.
Can someone tell me some recomendations?
I know from experience, li-po batteries do not last if fully discharged everytime, meaning don't run it till it shuts off. I am charging in the 10-15% range. As far as leaving it connected to the charger, I'm not sure if thats bad. If all you did was use it while connected to the charger, yes that will result in reduced battery life due to it not getting discharged.

Charger

Hi guys,
1 short question. Do I have to use original galaxy s4 charger or can I use another model from old galaxy s1 ?
It has 1A loading and loads longer but my point is - can it damage my phone by having too litlle current ? As I know the original charger is 2.1A
On the other hand I also use USB port to load my phone and as far as I know it has 0.5 A and loading takes a lot but I don't mind. The question is - is it safe ?
Too less can never do wrong, too much can though.

I read an opinion that too little power of charging isn't able to charge the batter to its full and because of that damaging it, but I don't know if it's true.
How about the memory effect ? When I charge with usb port and use the phone at the same time the battery is discharging even though connected. Isn't it harmful for the battery ?
Anything above 600-700ma should be fine, according to the link below for an 2600mah battery at 0.2c is 520ma so give it a bit more for safety, 1000ma should be fine, though the S4 will charge a lot slower.

EDIT : also the usb port on an notebook is only 500ma, and the S4 charges on that as far as i know, i don't have one to be certain.

Yesy my S4 charges on USB but my questions is : does it do any harm to battery ?
And another point : how about using the phone while charging it with too little current ? I have it when charging on USB, the phone just dicharges while I use it. When I let it alone it continues to charge (% going slowly up) , when I turn it back on it discharges again (the % going slowly down) - does it harm the battery ?
Actually a lower slow charge is better for the battery, as a fast charge causes the battery to heat up and heat causes damage to lithium battery`s
So good information on lithium battery care.

[Q] [HELP] Galaxy s4 battery issue after update !!!

Hi,
Recently I purchased galaxy s4. Initially I charged my phone with galaxy grands's charger for a couple of days ( As the charger look alike I thought both chargers are same ) . My battery used to drain very fast. However when I discover that s4's charger is high powered..I switched to it. There is a slight improvement in battery backup but I am not receiving the actual backup. What should I do ? Should I calibrate my battery. If so, what is the procedure?
Thanks
Some battery data would help. Numbers, please.

[Q] Really high battery drain for 2-3 hours right after charging, then settles

Hey all,
I'm not sure if anyone else has this issue (I searched the forums and didn't see anything). I noticed that the past 3 times I've charged my phone to 100%, the battery drain immediately after unplugging is around 3%/hour even if I don't use the phone. Then after the battery reaches anywhere in the 92 - 94% range, it settles down to about 0.8%/hour without me rebooting or taking any action. I know these numbers only because I have Better Battery Stats installed however I can't really tell what is chewing the battery since I haven't rooted yet.
Is this normal? I'm coming from a Note II that I rooted and installed a custom ROM and did not experience this.
That being said, I am super impressed with the battery on this thing. I am getting almost the same drain as my Note II which had a custom ROM installed.
Thanks ahead for any help/advice you can give me!
Hi i am also facing same issue. After fully charge the first 5 to 6 % battery draining very fastly approximately around 15 mins of usage then after that the battery settles and the draining will be normal.Does any one else is facing the same issue what may be the problem and resolution for this?

I noticed that as well..
I am considering rooting... not sure but I may get an answer through BBS with root features.
Also next time I charge, I'm going to try rebooting the phone immediately after unplugging from the power source.
I think that is just how the way battery percentage is calculated. I read somewhere that from the first 10 or 15 percent are somewhat inaccurate.
Sorry, I'll try and find a source for this later. Currently at school.
Are you guys charging from the wall charger or from the computer usb? And also, I remember non oem chargers tend to do this on my S4 and htc one.... haven't tested on my s5 yet though
Hi I am using the standard charge that comes along with the phone by the way what is the meaning of non oem charger

Sorry that's info I should have specified in OP... I'm using the charger that came with the phone and it is happening both through the wall and from the computer USB.

Nexus 6P battery lifespan

Hello guys. I have a question about battery lifespan. How battery will perform in 2 years with normal usage?
> How battery will perform in 2 years with normal usage?
not as good as today (like every battery)
My only question is...
is the fast charging more harmful for the battery,
Should I expect a faster performance degradation over time because of the fast charge ?
I'm not sure there's enough experience with the fast charging to answer that question for sure, but....
Fast charging generates more heat. More heat means faster degradation for lithium batteries. That's well documented. I personally would only resort to fast charging when I really need it, rather than making it the normal charging method.
If I keep this phone longer than 6 months I would br surprised. Battery should be alright though. I still see old phones running just fine.
