Aosp and cmte - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I've had this phone for almost a week now and noticed that most if not all aosp based ROMs use layers and cm ROMs obviously use cmte..wondering if there's any chance of aosp base with cmte??.. Not a fan at all of layers and thats part of the reason I run cm base ROMs.. Do to layers I refuse to use aosp ROMs not to say I haven't flashed them but they don't last an hour regardless of the features so I feel like I'm missing our a bit but I dislike layers that much..

You'll soon see DU for Angler, and it relies theme engine...hit their Google Plus community and go to test builds.
The one from 19 December 2015 is rock solid and feature packed.
Is 100% AOSP based.

Thanks bud, I'm actually already on that build ... This is my 1st nexus device so I wanna crack flash but layers sucks IMO... Du is working great and I've got it with deep darkness theme...

Well, I can assure you that you'll not find a more stable build that uses theme engine...everything works, including WiFi calling (TMO) and VoLTE...zero issues, and the per app theming port works perfectly.
That alone should satisfy your desire to play around with roms.
Ask in the community about the above.

Well, and what else
Running stock at the moment, had no problems' very snappy.
I like Paranoid Android but almost all are very similar and the devs have done a great job on all the ROMs.

Used codename android and then it became slightly buggy. Running XenonHD and it's smooth and stable. Loving it right now.
Will have to see when 4.2 ROMs get uploaded but so far Xenon finally removed the blue grids around home screens while moving. Left over from tablet UI and I just hate it and CNA still has it.. Don't want to use alternative launchers either.

I feel they are all about the same. PA really is in a league of it's own if you want to utilize their features.
I jump around every few months/weeks. Basically waiting for 4.2 to drop at this point.
AOKP when I feel like tweaks
For performance, eos or rasbean ever since I've learnt to tweaks and theme things myself, I have been not needing the tweaks of ROMs like AOKP
Resbean for now, zip aligned, odexed, tweaked up and super fast

I wanna try RasBean, any bugs so far?
You should change the question as "best rom/kernel combination" since rom's pretty much depend on the kernels to perform well.. Franco R25 is the best so far for my taste and Glazed rom is the pair..

Camera on custom roms

Why is it that we can't get the full 13mg canners on the custom Rom's? Not nagging just curious.
Also why don't we have Roms that are stock Oppo but tweaked?

Custom roms do have 13mp. Cm official. , team asylum which is cm, and pa all have 13mp that I know of for sure.
As far as your other question...it's cause you haven't built one yet lol. IMO the stock os is still a bit buggy for someone to invest the time to customize it. The best you can do without building the Rom would be flashing another kernel or building a theme to flash.

MIUI for Nexus 6p

Hey guys,
just a general question if anyone read or heard something if there will be a Port of MIUI for the Nexus 6P ?
thanks in advance .
why would anyone want to do this?
miui on my mipad is so painful to use.
to answer your qtn: no.
Probably not for awhile as Xiaomi haven't released MIUI based on Marshmallow.

I only used miui since they have cool themes
I miss the days of running MIUI on my S3. I'd love to see it ported over to the N6P
Love to have miui on nexus 6p
Hi..
I just found a thread to port miui to any Android
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/guide-build-port-miui-rom-to-device-t3250984
I don't know much of coding... Hoping some dev sees this n ports the ROM...
We need miui for our 6P !
I find it very weird that there is no word on a port? Lol. To bad at is a nice ROM.

there might be a glimmer of hope...
Any updates?
The mi note pro is snapdragon 810 based and it just got its update to miui 7. I would try to port from this device.
MIUI marshmallow beta rolling out globally

any joy
Any updates? The 6p is really getting the short end of the stick on this one
I also would love 1 more different rom for our 6p. I love miui for a change, usually use it for a month or so then go back to aosp, until i miss it again and same procedure lol
I hope some developer is reading this.
Man I used to love flashing MIUI back in my HTC Thunderbolt days. Brings back a lot of memories. But I found it fun to play with and use as a daily back then. But with advancements of marshmallow and having Theme Engine/Layers, I think MIUI would be a step backwards
maybe adui··· ugly and heavy

Change log....
Paranoid Android 6.0.1
Let's keep it short and simple: This one's for the dreamers longing for bug fixes. A lot of bug fixes and support for some awesome devices!...
For Nexus, the most important changes are the inclusion of June Security bulletin and Theme Engine updates. The bundled Browser application has been updated as well and all system update notifications will now come from us, and not from Google as it did for some specific users on the last release....

Wow, amazing, gonna try on mako first and see...aospa has always been one of the most beautiful Android experiences out there

Got it all up and flashed and running... Doing really good so far! Battery seems pretty decent (even for the first two hours), and the experience has been really smooth so far. Stoked to let it run for a while and see how it pans out over time. I'm liking it overall, though. Definitely give it a go. Only thing is, it's on the May update instead of June, but that's really no big deal at all.

just flashing now
Is their kernel decent enough or should I just flash Phasma or elementalX?
Flashed, practically 0 personalization, just inmersive mode, battery percent, reorganiable quicksettings and peek for notifications, but seems to be runnig great so far on mako. When they update to June security patch I'll flash it on bullhead.
Btw very interested o battery life, so I'll be keeping an eye on your impressions with that
Cheers
Is there anyone willing to give a status.report after one days usage on battery/ overall performance / customisation ect..will be helpful to those who are in the need.ect thanks???

Different feature sets.
smoothness is almost same.
However, on PA, adb is not working for me
Does it have Adway?
I'm using it with elemental x kernel and it is so awesome so smooth you should really try it
Aah.... and i'm using amanuensis governor
can anyone comment on notable features or performance compared to stock and/or pure nexus rom?

best custom rom

As per the title what would be the best custom rom considering feature to stability to update ratio? Most of the builds here are by the same guy (thanks man sorry forgot your name ) and have the same features mostly
What you guys are rocking as your daily driver?

They are all fantastic ROMs. Hard to pick a "best". I have been crack flashing last 2 months. I've probably spent the most time on Dirty Unicorns though. My deciding factor lately is whether visual VM works with my carrier, Verizon. There are 2 ROMs, where for me, VVM hasn't been working.

This thread is pretty much counter to what XDA is about. "Best Rom" threads are rarely productive and often causes strife. If you truly want someone else to do the leg work for you then ask specific questions about specific features you are looking for, etc. We all are going to have our own favorite, based on our own criteria. I don't wanna come off like Debbie downer but I know where this usually ends up...

I'd agree. That's why i originally stated they are ALL great ROMs. Very political here sometimes. That being said, I prefer AOSPEx merely because of a very specific feature.
I specifically purchased this device to feed my crack-flashing addiction and I couldn't be more pleased with the amount of dedication every ROM maintainer puts into these packages. If it wasn't for this community I'd be Linux Distro-ing that crap out of my desktop. Regardless, try em all. You'll find your own preferences and styles to suit your needs on your device.
Have fun and thank you to everyone who contributes to this community.
