thats just great! cant wait to get the n10 and flash it with a good & nice aosp rom
Yep looking forward to this to. I have been running Siyah Kernel for a couple of weeks and it's great to be able to switch between the stable stock based rom and CM10
Yep same as on the Nexus 7 forums too, looking forward to having 4.2 AOSP on both my Galaxy S3 and Nexus 7:laugh:
Want omega's team to get cracking

Won't take long to CM10-4.2 get released. I guess 4.2 uses the same base and stuff, so won't be a problem. Still, I may stick with Samsung. I love CM10 but not CM10 for i9300. Colors doesn't look good, laggy and a lot of random bugs.
Looking forward to it. Unfortunately cm10 on i9300 is beyond the team's control . If Samsung took their thumbs outta their asses and start releasing the RIGHT source and docs for Xynos, we might actually get somewhere. Its a miracle we've come this far without it.

I see a lot of people comment that Touchwiz ROMs run more smoothly than CM based builds. This is exactly the opposite of my experience. I find the Cyanogen team's work to be second to none, which is remarkable considering they're volunteering their time.

It's freaking me out a bit that my Verizon Galaxy Nexus will get a 4.2 custom ROM before my Nexus 4. WTF?
With the CM vs TW ROM debate, is there one Vanilla ROM that you think proves that theory that they run smoother and faster because I'd love to test it if there is one. I've always also felt that TW runs smoother? Maybe I'm wrong. Is LiquidSmooth a good example?
foxhound tw Rom is ridiculously smooth

I think that comment probably did that more than anyone else's. I think it's a perfectly valid part of the discussion. I'm not suggesting we sit here and go back and forth on ROM names. But I'll ask my question in a different way. What is it about the AOSP release that's out there now that isn't working well that will be improved by this 4.2 release? Ultimately, this isn't about one ROM base vs another it's about whether AOSP can be made to work bug-free with the I9300 hardware, isn't it?

I believe it's also to do with what new FEATURES have been added to the new AOSP release and less to do with how much stability it will add (since that is dependent more on Samsung releasing the source than what AOSP has to offer in terms of stability).
Some of us would like to make use of the new features of 4.2 and not have to wait for an official Samsung update.
Having said all this, at the end of the day, that's my point of view and I don't expect everyone to agree.

Woot, the race is on!
Hi! Some of you may know That MIUI started to post 20 MIUI V5 unofficial builds and one of those phone is our galaxy s2 and I'm one of the Beta testers and. The build is based on aosp and the latest MIUI V5 3.3.22. So soon we can all wait for the official build the unofficial build is stable with little lags and minor bugs. But no stock MIUI or stock Samsung camera only the AOSP camera.
So here is my MIUI thread to see some screenshots and list of bugs.
http://en.miui.com/thread-2689-1-1.html
They should use sammy base imo for better batyery preformace the battery preformace on aosp based roms is not even close to the efficency of the sammy base.
Also the sammy cam is way better than the aosp.

Yes the battery is better and the camera also, but I see that the battery is very good on this build and don't forget this is unofficial it mean that MIUI didn't ported this. So don't worry the official beta build will be on stock

i think so because of the hw composer. without source codes jb is not different from ics..

The battery sucks on stock Samsung ROMs. Wtf? I barely got 13 hours of battery life. Both stock kernel and custom one. AOSP is the way to go. Good choice.

using gingerbread rom can be the solution for the battery, but jb's all difference from ics is hw composer.

Forgive me for wondering, but why limit beta testing to 15 beta testers? Why not have anyone beta test? And if its due to simplification and easy tracking of bugs, have a seperate "official" testing team that report back and a general report from any other user that is kept seperate?
Yes, I do want MIUI v5 THAT much!!

very good rom. very smooth and a pleasure to use
only issue is that there are some visual style inconsistency such as the round corners not in the right place or the tabs not placed correctly when dpi is changed
why, why AOSP based? why?:crying::crying::crying:

Yeah, there are more features and probably better performance/battery. You could start out with the RC5 build since it is the most stable and updated build but generally the nightly builds are pretty stable with minor bugs too. Personally, I prefer AOSPA since it has very innovative features that make my phone that much more unique :]
If you don't like it you can flash another Rom or go back to stock. You'll probably end up trying different roms and finding out what you like.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
sure man. couldnt hurt to learn a bit about your phone in the process as well
just dont be stuck with cm. its not the only stable rom, and it is definitely not the most stable so dont worry about having to just play it safe with cm.
Try PACman Rom, has Cyanogenmod, AOKP and Paranoid Android, the top 3 roms in my opinion. this way you can see all the features and then flash the rom you like the most or stick to it...whatever floats your boat
Yes

if you are satisfied with stock then No , if you feel some features that you would use are missing then go for it.
as for battery life, from my own experience, stock was the best option for me so far.
Use Carbon instead. Has the features CM has but a lot more. Nav width/height adjustment is a must for me. CM doesnt have that and wont put it in.
Hey guys.. The new color rom ui looks beautiful and fresh on the n1..just wondering would it be coming to the find 5 sometime?
I think sooner or later it will, color rom is already available for find 5 on the oppo forums, don't know if it's the same or a different version of color rom.
My guess is it will be the same ROM

if it isn't.... with oppo's track record on new-ROM creation, think the ColorOS for N1 will be stable, or beta-ware?
To be honest that's a great question. Firmware has gotten much better and continues to get better but can it be labeled "stable" with the amount of errors and problems some users are having... ? Not sure lol.. Hopefully stable

I'd rather see a ROM from CM with all the "features" such as Dirac audio and a fully featured camera app working.
The ColorOS got ported to htc one.. Seems like it can be ported to any phone with a base like miui.. Wow!

Nope because it is so bad that I flashed AOKP 4.3 again. It is like latest Color ROM V1.01.
I thought they'll be using the same rom on all theire devices with, of course, device specific changes?

I've grown bored of CM, Slim, and Paranoid Android, so I'm looking for an interesting rom, my main stipulation is the source has to be out there so I can go and look around in it (and likely build it since I'm weird like that), MIUI looks interesting, but I'm still looking to see if the source is out there.
So I'm looking for input, does anyone have any suggestions of a ROM I can take, build and customize my own version of and use as my main rom?
I don't believe MIUI releases source code.
And essentially any AOSP ROM that has a repo can easily be built. I used AICP to build from its repo and it worked fine. Customizing has different meanings to everyone.

I though miui was closed source not positive on that but either way its awesome ROM if you find anything good please share I was looking for something like MokeOS (sp?)

For what its worth I use and reccomend F2FS version of Carbon ROM, but it maybe too similar to CM,Slim,PA for you.
Found a good one I can work with, tried it in the past, at the time it was a bit much, anyway, it's PACman, I did like some of the things they did with it.
I suggest liquid smooth. Its super fast and there are a ton of built in customizations. And about the coolest boot animation I've ever seen
