HP slate 7 Extreme root tutorial plz!

Hey, I just bought a Hp slate 7 extreme and love it but i want to root my tablet. It was rooted using Vroot when my tab is 4.2.2. Now problem is someone or something has triggered the update to 4.3 and now i lost the root access. Tried using Vroot, onesuperclick and even the supertool by Tom but to no avail. There also towelroot but it make my tablet hanged and if i force close, it restarts the tab.
Also heard so much bad thing about 4.4.2 so i rather not up my os. Plz help me in my situation. I have check other threads and couldn't find a solution for this (at least for 4.3) would love a youtube video tutorial.

For starters this is the wrong Forum Thead to post in, it should be in the Q&A Forum.
Second you didn't use search as if you got here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541784 it will tell you with clear instructions on how to root the TegraTab.
Please insure that your threads are in the right place. I mean no disrespect but XDA have rules for a reason.

Ahh my bad, I'll try and be more careful. Now, I have read that link there already and it doesn't work. Also now my situation has worsen in that it got updated to 4.4.2.......I still tried all other methods, Vroot, towelroot, supertool etc . Tried to do the manual fastboot also doesn't work, impact or see no device so stuck over there. Has anyone found a way to root?

If Impactor does not find your device fastboot mode, try another USB port. If that doesn't work, try another computer if possible.
Also, make sure that you are running Impactor as administrator by right-clicking the application and pressing "Run as administrator".

I did try other computers and still no avail, even with admin access. Also HP slate 7 extreme is basically a Tegra note 7 not different device. Just few minor changes. If only the fastboot work, i probably be rooted by now. Is there a way to back 4.2.2? like put the recovery 4.2.2 in sd and recover from the loader? would it brick my device? Also i found out about towelroot modstring, is there a specific modstring for hp 7 extreme? would like to try it.

In this case unlock bootloader
Flash TWRP and check if it works, if so flash supersu

Hey shaky, thank you for replying. he boot loader is still lock. When device off , I press power n vol up to get into this menu which has fastboot protocol, selected it but nothing happens, then check for driver in impactor, no device detected. So can't use Tom's supertool to unlock bootloader. Also did the command prompt, say fastboot not recognize internal or external etc....
There also a recovery kernel, which leads to a recovery menu that can open zip files, think I can do just flash twrp ?

Install the drivers when the menu shows up, don't select anything at all.

Install fastboot drivers then go to your boot loader menu and type
Fastboot flash recovery twrplocation.IMG, this will flash twrp then boot into twrp (recoverykernel) install SuperSU

Thanks for replying. I did all that was suggested and nothing has changed. Problem is that impactor won't detect my device and won't install driver.
Took these pics to show what i'm seeing (left to right)
1) First pic is when tab is off, I power and vol up to get that menu,
2) Second pic impactor can't detect anything.
3) Third pic is if i select Recovery Kernel, a No command show, did power and Vol up to get this recovery menu

What does the Device Manager show? For instance, when the tablet is in the recovery menu, can you see an unidentified device?
EDIT: What operating system are you running? Are you an administrator? Are you running Impactor as administrator?

In recovery mode, nothing shows up in device manager
In normal tab mode, it show android phone with subset android composite adb interface. Also there a ? MTP

anyone?

Update! : I exchange my tab, now its 4.2.2 and just rooted it with vroot. Voila surprise that towelroot and impactor still not working....
now that its rooted, is there a way to install cmw/twrp? tried the supertool but no luck with impactor so can't fastboot command.
can i just put cmw or twrp in sd and flash it from the android revocery menu?

From the sound of it you are rooted but not unlocked. So, flashing Roms and things will not work until you do that.
However if I am wrong and you have unlocked the boot loader, go right ahead and flash some ROMs.

I found off another thread that our HP S7E running kitkat can be rooted with towelroot v1. It's a one-click root method. Just download the apk, install and run it, and the tablet will be rooted! Just take note to install supersu from the play store

Hello new to this thread. Wanted to ask if this root method would work on the HP slate 7 beats special edition, the beats special edition looks very similar to the HP slate 7 extreme, and also the Nvidia Tegar note 7.

1. Download the Root Mi2 Lollipop.zip (9.17 MB) in the attachments of this thread.
2. Unzip it in a location you like.
3. Open the "Command Prompt.bat" in the folder.
4. Enter fastboot mode in your Mi2 by shutting down and then long-press VOLUME - AND POWER BUTTON.
5. Connect it to your PC with USB CABLE.
6. In "Command_Prompt.bat" in Root Mi2 Lollipop, enter followings:

You now has root access on L on your Mi2!!

Edit : ok just format the system and do a clear install and it works great !

Having problems with this approach on latest update from Ivan 11.28
Root is working but WiFi stops working at all. Cannot activate it.
Looks like after installing busybox wifi is not operational anymore.
Flashing ROM again helps wifi but removes root. So it is now either root or wifi.
Any other ways to get superuser app working?

Which model?? Mi2S or C??
Rooting works as expected on my Mi 2S but droidVpn malfunctions only. WiFi is ok.

Follow the rest steps as described...
All good! Root access GRANTED!!!

Flash from recovery latest super su

Problem rooting with Lollipop with Build LRX22G for MI2

Following your working procedure, I am facing difficulty in rooting my MI2 machine and it is detailed in below.
Before the rooting, I have updated the PC MI2 device USB driver (thru MI Suitre) and up-to-date ADB software. on the PC end.
After above, I have folloewd the rooting instruction provided in thread No. 1 to connect the phone in fastboot mode with PC thru an USB cable . Starting up ADB on PC and executed "fastboot flash boot bootinsecure.img" command with no problem. After issuing "ADB REBOOT" (second step), I am able to see ADB got a positive response from phone. The phone went into the rebooting mode. I have noticed a XIAOMI logo was displayed right in the middle of the phone screen but stayed there forever (more than 20 mins) without any other display. I guess, the phone has entered into a loop state. No choice but have to stopped the rooting process and recovered phone OS by booting system two.
What could be wrong or missing in above?

Relax, I have had met the same issue before but have had the situation fixed already.
In order for us to help, please provide us screen shot of the "about phone" of your phone in trouble.
Or just reply with "model number", "android version" and "MIUI version".

My phone is Mi2S and it's currently stucked at mi.com logo. That's the thing, I can't gives you any of what you asked because it does not boot. Last Miui used version was v6 lollipop.

I have an Xiaomi MI2. Strongly believe MI2/MI2S /MI2A operates the same.
If this is the first time you flash the phone, I am pretty sure you can recover the phone.
You may want to try below process to recover the phone just before last flash:
1. Power off phone (or take out the battery)
2. First press Vol Up (+) Button and then press Power Button simultaneously and firmly
3. When phone displays the Xiaomi Logo in the middle of the screen, you may now release the buttons
4. Phone is loading (takes a bit longer), wait until the Language Selection page comes up
**use Vol +/- (up/down) to navigate and use power button to select
5. Navigate to English (or Chinese) and select (press Power Button)
6. Navigate to Reboot and select
7. Navigate to "Boot To System Two" and select
8. It will take quite a bit of time for phone to fully boot (be prepared, it may take more than 30 minutes, don't panic)
9. After the reboot, believe System One and Two of phone are the same (identical)
10. You should have the phone recovered now

Nope, no luck. Tried to boot to both system 1 and 2 but still same issue.
Finally able to flash cwm and reflash the rom again. The latest rom downloaded by MIUI still in the downloaded_rom folder.
So, I guess rooting a Mi2S v7 not yet available.

Sorry to hear you were not able to recover the Android.
Xiaomi 2/2S Android has Global, Special and China version editions.
Only the China version has a Developer version which has the rooted function incorporated already.
Mi 2/2S MIUI 7 was only released in late August for all editions.
The latest China/Developer version is v5.9.2 （MIUI7） and my phone has flashed to this MIUI and ROM.
I have been using the rooted function for programs like Super Backup, ES File Explorer, etc, happily.
IMHO, the newest MIUI and ROM is quite stable.
If you are interested, you may get more info from " http://en.miui.com/download-2.html#2".

Whether your phone is on Miui V6 or V7, Stable or Development Android , Global/Special/China Edition,

Hi guys, a quick step by step guide to how I was able to unlock, install TWRP and Root my H815. Please don't hold me responsible if any issues arise with your phone. If you do this, you take your own responsibilities.
I tend to download all the tools in a single folder so it is easier to manage.
The LG Site:
1. go to this LINK and register.
2. you will get a confirmation email.
3. go to this LINK to unlock your bootloader (you will find the information on how to get your IMEI and Device ID lower in the post)
Your PC :
1. Be sure to have the LG drivers (i connected my phone first, it automatically installed the drivers on the computer.
update 27th July : thanks @the_scotsman in case you have driver issues please download these provided by @autoprime : LGUnitedMobile_Win_Driver_Ver_3.14.1
2. Be sure you have installed the ADB stuff that can be found here : Minimal ADB & Fastboot & ADB Installer (type Y to all the questions asked)
Install Minimal ADB first. Then type Y to all the questions the ADB installer asks. Close both windows once done.
Download TWRP 2.8.7. for H815:
1. go to this LINK and download it. Add it to your folder
Download SuperSu 2.46:
1. Download SuperSu 2.46 HERE (thanks @Chainfire ) and add it to your folder
PC & G4 love :
Once you are sure you have completed all the above tasks start rolling :
A. Enter your IMEI on the LG page
- you can find your IMEI on the G4 by going to settings > about phone > status
B. Get your Device ID:
1. hook up your LG on your PC (be sure not to be locked on your lockscreen, That USB debugging is checked and OEM checked in the Developer Options)
2. launch your CMD and type:

adb reboot bootloader
your phone will reboot
3. type this to get your Device ID
Code:
fastboot oem device-id
4. You will see two lines of number. Copy them and paste them together (to make one line) in the the Device ID fields on the LG site.
5 type :
Code:
fastboot reboot
5. close CMD
5. click Confirm on the site and you will receive by email a file called : unlock.bin.
Unlocking your bootloader:
1. once you get your LG email, save the unlock.bin in your folder
2. launch CMD from the folder (hold shift, right click the folder)
3. in CMD type :

adb reboot bootloader
4. once your phone is rebooted in bootloader type :
Code:
fastboot flash unlock unlock.bin
5. then reboot your phone by typing :

fastboot reboot
Normally your phone now has it's bootloader unlocked. When it boots you should see a message on the top left of the screen saying that.
COPY SuperSu and the downloaded TWRP file onto your phone (i put it in the download folder in the phone, not the SD) so you are ready for the next steps
Booting TWRP via ADB and bootloader mode
I personally think this was the easiest way to be able to root and clean install TWRP. Be sure your TWRP is in the folder.
1. Launch CMD from the folder (hold shift, right click the folder)
2. type (again) :
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
3. once your phone reboots and is in bootloader mode type :
Code:
fastboot boot TWRP2861.img
the new name of the file
or
Code:
fastboot boot p1.img
if you didn't rename it.
4. now you will reboot into TWRP.
Installing SuperSu
1. once you are in TWRP click install and go find your SuperSu file.
2. Swipe to install.
3. Once installation is done, reboot to system.
Once you have rebooted into the OS you will find the SuperSu app. Download the TWRP manager just to have it handy. And now i would install the TWRP file you have copied on your phone with flashify. I think it's a great tool.
2 ways to do it:
1. locate the file, click on it and choose to open with flashify then choose recovery and follow the steps
2. find the file via flashify and install.
(Don't download TWRP for H815 in the TWRP manager or Flashify as they are not fixed by @wolfgart (correct me if I am wrong))
once all this done and rebooted. Your phone will have TWRP and would be Rooted. Choose the TWRP manager to boot into recovery when you want.
I preferred to reboot the phone every time just to be sure...

Yeah there arent any other guide, just threads discussing it. It just seems a lot since the LG site is pretty clear and self explanatory.

I'm stuck on "fastboot oem device-id" command in cmd. Everything up to that point goes smoothly.
command line says "waiting for device" and the phone screen doesn't show phone ID, but gives me options 1-3. 1 being to show device ID, can't remember what the other ones are now. But I can't select "1". What am I doing wrong?
I have USB debugging on, also the OEM unlock is checked in development options.

unplug your device, if you can't restart it, by keeping your finger pressed for 10 seconds on the power button, take battery out.
Once you put the battery back in, restart the phone, plug in the phone in the computer, restart the CMD, and start the procedure again. :
2. launch your CMD and type:

3. type this to get your Device ID

I've tried this a few times now, same outcome, same thing, don't get a code, only get the 3 options and the power off 10 second thing, which doesn't work btw, have to pull battery every time

The numbers should show on your CMD window on your computer not the phone.
If the CMD window only shows "waiting for device", did you try to shut the CMD windows?

ah, thought they were supposed to show on the phone screen.
not sure what you mean by shutting the cmd window? I just get stuck on that "waiting for device" message in cmd, at which point I unplugged the phone, did a battery pull and tried again. I've tried about 5 times now, I double checked everything, have all the drivers installed etc.
Oh, and I do have the h815 EU version of the G4. I'll keep digging.

Could someone try out netflix, camera, divx files, YouTube and all the things that people were afraid of loosing. I for myself would really like to root but I dont want to loose any functions by doing that.

I have no issues with Netflix, divx, camera or YouTube.

Just a reminder that this does not work with all H815's as of 6/5/15. I think those of us that got a non EU region specific H815's get stuck when requesting a bootloader unlock from LG. Most of us are getting "not found suffix" when trying to submit the IMEI# and device ID. Note: trying different internet browsers does nothing, so don't bother.
We'll have to wait for LG to either approve all region G4's or another method. Cheers for making a guide though.

Got the same Problem and fixed it, because, that are restriction/Firewall/Domaincontroler/Groupright Problems on ur PC.

Is there a reason why we have to temporarily boot into TWRP to install root and then install TWRP via a secondary method?
Like, why can't we just do a "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" command to install TWRP like most other devices with an unlocked bootloader?

Like the Header says: JUST H815 (European Version LG G4), Tested on my own device, works!
1. i tell u my little Problem
2. i link much with little explain HOWTO "unlock bootloader"--> "install TWRP"--> "root with SUperSU"
3. all is tested on Windows 8, so on all WIN it will work! and i cant help with other OS!!!
INFO and my little Problem at the start:
First i tried on my Laptop from work and that was the ONLY Problem i got to get my LG G4 H815 to root.
--> be SURE u real local admin on your computer! on my Laptop me local admin, but there also some Grouprights, domaincontroler and some more **** to get this save
*** just Info what problem i got, explain HOWTO later... ***
- i connected my phone to the Laptop with the right driver and SDK-tool.
- I started CMD in the folder where the "fastboot.exe is located (like: C:/Android/sdk/platform-tools/*fastboot.exe*)
- i tried to see my device, wrote--> "adb devices" *yeah i see it*
- i tried "adb reboot bootloader" to see if it boots into it *yeah me in the bootloader locked*
- i tried "fastboot reboot" NOTHING happens! i tried the commands u see in the bootloader, NOTHING happens! i tried Hard reset (10sec Powerbutton... 20 sec Powerbutton) Nothing happens! OMG... but THX LG for changing Battery, so got out the Battery and started the phone again. All was fine. I tried this more than 5 times, every the same result.
So i changed my computer, to my real privat PC. there i know 100% me local Admin with no restrictions, no special Grouperights, domaincontroler, Firewall i can handle etc.
And that helped me! :fingers-crossed: so keep in mind, u got 100% adminrights on ur computer!
in the next steps there are links with explanations, REALLY go STEP by STEP how it is written there, IMPORTANT
HOWTO
1. install LG Driver install the right LG Driver Version3.14.1 http://www.theandroidsoul.com/download-lg-g4-driver-for-windows-and-mac-mtp-adb-download-mode-77723/
2. download sdk-tool download sdk-tool https://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
- u need the "fastboot.exe, AdbWinUsbApi.dll and AdbWinApi.dll" which are on normal install located maybe: C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools
3. Test adb and fastboot!!! TEST if u can use adb and fastboot on ur device!
--> open CMD (shift+rightclick = "commandline open here") in the folder where the "fastboot.exe" is located maybe: C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools
--> type in commandline "adb devices" (all without the "", also the following steps) --> u will see ur H815
C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>adb devices
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
List of devices attached
LGH815cc833317 device
--> if u see it like that, type in CMD "fastboot reboot"
If u can boot into bootloader AND reboot ur phone with the command, u can go to 4. if NOT, DONT go on, try to look for some fixes or solutions in the Forum!
*dont close CMD, we need later and u are on the right commandline where the fastboot.exe is located (C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools)
4. unlock the bootloader
- go to the LG Developer Page and register (if u are not registerd) as "LG Developer Member" http://developer.lge.com/main/RegisterCheck.dev
- open the HOWTO unlock from the LG Page http://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/RetrieveBootloader.dev?categoryTypeCode=ANRS
--> the first steps are Important: OEM unlock! and USB Debugging on ur device!
- on the botton of the Page u confirm go to the next Page (open it with rightclick --> "open in a new window", that u can switch between the "howto" and the "starting to unlock) where u start to unlock. U need the IMEI and the Device-ID. U can click on "?" to see how to get the IMEI and how to get the Device-ID
U will recive a Mail withe unlock.bin
- i pushed this unlock.bin into the folder were my "fastboot.exe is located" (on me C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools)
- follow the steps with "adb reboot bootloader" and in bootloader "fastboot flash unlock unlock.bin" (if ur unlock.bin is located in the same folder, like me (C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools)
Ur bootloader is now unlocked
5. install TWRP recovery
- download modified TWRP with simlink from Wolfgart: http://techerrata.com/dees_troy/p1.img
- follow the steps how to install, but remember, we use the TWRP from Wolfgart "p1.img" http://www.theandroidsoul.com/how-to-install-lg-g4-twrp-recovery-easily-79553/
- i did my TWRP (p1.img) again into the folder where the fastboot.exe AND the unlock.bin is located (C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools), so u need to type in the Step 9. on the Page "fastboot boot p1.img" NOT "fastboot boot g4-twrp.img" like it is called there, because we have the "p1.img" and the downloaded on page is called "g4-twrp.img"
- just follow ALL the steps and u got TWRP installed
--> important in the steps on the link: u need TWRP (p1.img) on LGG4 and PC!
--> IMPORTANT Step 10.-15. in the link! 1. u JUST boot into recovery and in the (just booted) recovery u install the recovery!
- if u do the steps right (10.-15.), u can boot into recovery with the *knowing* "Power and Volume Down" combination or the fastboot command "fastboot reboot recovery" (do u want a factory reset "yes"... u really want? "yes" --> recovery
- if DONT do this steps right (10.-15.) and may JUST boot the TWRP (p1.img) and try the *knowing* "Power and Volume Down" combination u REALLY RESET ur device and may got bootloops
6. install SuperSU to get root
- download SuperSu and get it on ur phone https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
- follow the steps http://www.theandroidsoul.com/here-is-lg-g4-root-79569/
and all is fine, u got unlocked Bootloader, TWRP and u are rooted
Now the most important thing i have learned over the years: MAKE a NANDROID/Backup in recovery AND TEST IT, if u can recover!!!
- connected phone on PC --> CMD started from the folder where the *fastboot.exe* is located TYPE: "fastboot reboot recovery" to get into recovery.
than u can try more things u want, BUT dont Test XPOSED arm64 for now, IT DONT WORK, u get bootloops.
Other and me tested, i was happy because i got a NANDROID... others not ... so do a BACKUP and TEST it
Remember thats NOT MY WORK, i just explained and linked it in 1 Thread HOWTO.
So all THX goes to the other

Is it possible to root without TWRP? can i flash the root via adb?
I would like to encrypt my phone as the custom recovery seems to block that. Not sure what happens if a encrypt before flashing TWRP i'm guessing i would not be able to load the password for decryption

Root Lenovo K3 Note India (k50a40)

Hello everyone.
Today I'm going to show you how to root Lenovo K3 Note India.
Pre-Requisites :
Lenovo USB Tools – Download it from here: https://userscloud.com/n7zmi1utn6wz

How to Install CWM on Lenovo K3 Note :
Things to do before you Root Lenovo L3 Note :
Take a backup of your data. We don’t guarantee if something is erased. Always take precautions .
Enable USB Debugging on your device.
Goto > Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging.
If Developer Options is not located under settings then enable it by going toSettings > About Phone > Device Info and tap on Build Number for about 7-8 times. And then go back and follow previous step.
Make sure the battery is 50% charged or more.
Go to Settings > Security and enable Unknown Sources option.
How to Install CWM on Lenovo K3 Note :
Step 1 : Extract the LenovoUsbDriver_Techolaty.Net.rar and install the software in your PC.
Step 2 : Extract the Flash_Tools_Techolaty.Net.rar file and then open flash_tool.exe (run it as an administrator) Also Extract Recovery_Lemon_K3_Note_Techolaty.Net.rar in the same folder.
Step 3 : Now select MT6752_Android_scatter.txt .
Step 4 : Click on Options from the top then Download and make sure DA DL all with Checksum is checked.
Step 5 : Now just tick the checkbox recovery and browse to the extracted files and locate recovery.img
Step 6 : Now remove the battery of your phone & connect USB cable. Wait for 10 seconds & press the download button on PC. Then wait 05 seconds & insert battery in phone without removing USB cable. Wait for seconds & then Congrats !! CWM Recovery installed.
Steps to enter Recovery mode in Lenovo K3 Note
Press and hold the Volume Down Button + Volume Up Button + Power Button.
When you see the Boot Screen, Release the Power Button but keep the Volume Buttons pressed until you see the Recovery Screen.
How to Root Lenovo K3 Note :
Step 1 : Copy the UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip file in your SD card root folder
Step 2 : Enter/Reboot to recovery mode on your device
Step 3 : Select the UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip file and click update to root lenovo k3 note
Congrats !! YOur device is rooted now!!
You can confirm your device is rooted or not by downloading the Root Check application from Playstore.

There is no option to change that Chinese language. If you want to use recovery in English then you should switch from CWM Recovery to TWRP Recovery. Its better than CWM Recovery. Here is link to download TWRP Recovery for Lenovo K3 Note.

M new to this though i've rooted 3 phones before but my last one asus zenfone 5 got bricked after rooting and using for almost 2 weeks but after that it's os was deleted n m regretting bout it but i too desperate to root k3 note k50a40 as there's to ram occupation n no option for themes etc..

Su is not getting updated
My su binary is not getting updated ..recovery is not flashing the update file but I've noticed its showing both of the language English and Chinese.. What to do stuck here..plz help..and yah I've tried changing the name of the file too..then too its not getting updated yaar. Do something

If you root your mobile carefully step by step as I given then no issues. I am also using K3 note.

You should try official Chinese rom of Lenovo K3 note as its best & secure rom. You can download it from official vibe ui website.

Unroot you mobile in option from SuperSu application & reboot you device. After reboot, go to recovery mode & install updatesu.zip again.

1st remove battery then connect with usb then press download & then after inser battery. You'll see installing line in spftools.

i can't update supersu.zip using recovery mode. WHY?

I guess the adb & fastboot method is far better, safe and quicker method than the SPFtools. Another xda forums thready can be referred for the method.
