Scroll and keyboard lag - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I picked up an S5 to replace my note 2 which i love and so far I'm happy with the S5 but my note 2 is faster and smoother. I keep having stuttering and lag while scrolling and using the keyboard. I rooted it and debloated it and have xposed, other than that im on a stock 5.1.1 T-Mobile rom. Anyone know any tricks to fix this?

[Q] Does AT&T/Samsung know about the lag?

Until we can flash custom roms, how do we make sure that AT&T/Samsung is fully aware about the lag issues? We need an update pretty fast. The Note 2 is much snappier than the S4 at this point. Are they currently aware? If not, we need to make them aware, so this gets addressed. The lag is not bad, but very distracting. I cringe everywhere time I go text or into the gallery.
Man I dont know why so many people are having lag issues. I got my mom a note 2 same time I got my s4. And my phone was so much more fluid and snappier out of the box. Now that Ive rooted and applied kernel tweaks, using apex launcher my s4 is snappier than my s3 running aosp and oc'd kernel. Hopefully att/samsung hurry and fix this issue soon. I remember when I first flashed aosp 4.2.2 on my s3 the animation lag was HORRIBLE. It drove me crazy. Im assuming this is the same thing you guys are seeing. Thing about that was that the horrible animations didnt affect everyone.
ATT S4 Rooted. Beastin.
4.2.2

N9005 Live wallpaper scroll lag

My n9005 has a scrolling lag. It is more noticeable during live wallpapers. I am using nova launcher. Have tried different launchers but its still there.
It was there in the stock rom then I tried X note and echoe rom. Presently I am using the echoeslim, it has all bloatware removed and a lot of build.prop tweaks for performance.
The phone is otherwise very fluid and fast but this stupid homescreen lag is very irritating. I have also tried different kernels too. Using lean kernel and have undervolted it. The phone never gets very hot.
My GF has a n900 , her phone doesn't have this lag.

[Q] Worth uninstalling TouchWiz?

So first of all, please let me state the fact that I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to rooting and all that good stuff.
I want to ask if it is possible to get the stock Android 5.0 Lollipop on the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
If it is possible, how can I do it and is it worthed?
Is losing all the S-Pen features and air wake-up and all that worthed to stay on a faster, stock Android?
Just find a launcher you like and use that. Rooting just to get rid of TouchWiz is overkill. There are great reasons to root, but that isn't one of them.
I couldn't find any good reason to root the Note 4 so far.
ad blocking, and full sd access are good reasons, among others
Definetly worth flashing stock lollipop get rid of the awful awful lag. This phone is a beast when it comes to lag. Suppose I've been bit spoilt using nexus 6 for the last 2 months which is supper smooth and fast.
However unforunately there is no stock lollipop ROMs to flash for this phone so you are stuck with crappy TW.

Going with AOSP Lollipop is definitely possible. It's great. Looks great. Runs without lag. However, if you own any Samsung wearable like the VR or a Gear 2, or if you use the Spen features then you do not want to use AOSP roms. Samsung baked compatibility into TouchWiz instead of supporting Android so you lose it if you switch.
Note that the Spen can serve basic scrolling and tapping depending on the Kernel you have installed but it is very limited.
Here is what it comes down to.
If you use any TW features or Samsung products with the Note 4 then don't switch.

Some Note 4 compatible Lollipop Roms I have used and like are
SlimLP
CM12
Liquid Smooth
Buy a nexus 6 if u don't like TouchWiz or spen then y buy a note other phones with 2k display and 805 snapdragon

[Q] Those of you who upgraded from an S3 (and on a custom ROM)

I've had an S3 for about 1.5 years now, and an S2 before that. I was really contemplating getting something other than a Samsung now, but nothing really sparks my interest for the price. I have CM12 installed on my S3 right now and it works pretty good.
I was wondering for those of you who upgraded from an S3, is the experience pretty much the same, or is the device much faster? Lag wise on a custom ROM? I know that CM12 on the S5 right now has problems with MMS, and low volume on video recording, which will hopefully be fixed soon...
What I want to know is: for those of you who upgraded from an S3, how would you compare it? Is it worth the upgrade (using a custom ROM, not TouchWiz), and if so, why? I'm worried that I'll get an S5, install CM12, and it'll be exactly the same (obviously there's minor differences between all Samsung devices, but still). I was hoping it would have less lag and just be snappier all around. That, plus the bigger battery, bigger screen, and better camera.
Thanks!
I did this update to S5 some month ago.
1 week ago I flashed my S5 and its awesome!
Fast, mostly stable and the upgrade, so I think, is it worth it.
It's a better phone man.
My battery works like 2 Days on RR

I recently bought a 900T (T-Mobile S5) and I have used the S3 a lot at work so here's my experience: the device runs much faster, the screen is bigger, more detailed (1080p vs S3's 720p) and looks greater. Camera is a definite upgrade, quality is superb. Other areas feel the same. Battery life depends but I feel like the S3's endurance lasts longer.
Thanks for the input guys. Master619 are you running a custom ROM on your S5?

No I'm on stock 5.0 (G900TUVU1DOB1) and not rooted (pretty much vanilla).
// Edit: note that I'm using some background utilities (screen on by proximity, swipe for home button,...) so they can affect battery life as well.

Roms that doesn't have recent app lag?

I've had the note 4 for almost a year now and the recent app lag is still driving me nuts (reminds me of the home button lag on the s2), before you tell me to disable talkback, I have already done that. I've even uninstalled it and a lot of other bloat but the lag is still there.
Are there any roms that can fix this? If it doesn't have the spen functionality it's a dealbreaker.
If not I'll have to go back to my note 2.
Never been so dissapointed with a phone. My note 2 had great battery life and no lag.
Hi @Lysande!
Have you tried any AOSP based ROM?
Or if you want to stay with samsung TouchWiz you should try one of the latest TW ROMs, the recent app lag should have been fixed with the 5.1.1 update.
Try any 5.1.1 rom (stock or custom). No lag on recents and better battery life.
