i want to ask u guys if i should update to ics
becuase i heared that honeycomb was better than ics
and ics is full of problem
such as the battery drain , some lags and many problems
is that true or what
and is updating to ics better than honeycomb
I have contemplated going back to Honeycomb many times, even as recent as last week, I've been trying to assess what features I'd miss from ICS and Jelly Bean (I'm using CM10) and apart from a few 4.x and up only apps, there's nothing to keep me there other than the "want" to be running the latest and greatest, I know some people say they had issues, but I don't recall having any when using Overcome 2.3.1 ROM and jumped ship as there was not going to be anymore development.
There's nothing stopping you from upgrading and going back to HC if you find that the grass, isn't greener.

had that thought a couple of days ago, as well.
what keeps me going from JB to HC are the superb notifications, UI performance, google now, multitasking menu, FOLDERS. Though 3.2->4.x is more of a shuffle, than a huge leap, I still prefer to have something more or less latest and improved on my device

Has Anyone gone from Task 14 to the stock ICS?
Is It worth doIng or should I just try to get Jelly Bean goIng?
Or shOuld I stick with what wOrks?

Just a quick update, I've moved BACK to honeycomb, Overcome 2.3.1 to be precise, just for a bit, to see what I'd miss.
The fact that there is no lag in videos is a big big plus, and using adw launcher gives the smoothness of ics (big leap from the last time I used it).
There are little things like, Google now and as someone mentioned before, the notifications, but having completely lag free video playback is a blessing to have back again.
I'm going to stick with it for a few days, then test the official ICS, then CM9 and make an informed decision of which is better pros and cons etc...

Well i was with hc 3.2, i did the update ota to 4.0.4 ics
I love it, its more fluid, faster, looks better also.
I only root my tab, i dont play with the roms and stuff so to me its just a question of staying up to date.
As for problems, the only one i got was about the flash player not working anymore and this was fix by dl the flash player from market.
I think at the end, its up to u, make a backup, try it and if u dont like, go back.

Not for me. I think it might be cause by the fact that u have too many apps running at the same time.
Try to install advance task killer, it will help ur tab to be faster

So far, for me and my little experiment, I have fired up YouTube after each new ROM and after the tab has settled down with updates etc, the honeycomb ROM produces no stutter at all, just fluid video, as soon as I go to ICS or higher it appears, however on JellyBean ICS 7 (i think that's what it was called) it is there, just much less of a problem compared to the others, but I still have to try CM9 to conclude the testing.

To be honest, I am using AOKP JB and I did not see the lags you are talking about.
Yes.
I updated to ICS about months ago, i really liked it, it's interface is kinda like the S3, except in tablet mode.
I didn't really see any battery draining problems, the battery was just like 3.1 or 3.2, so i suggest you update.
I used the official rom from sammobile, just search this on Google : P7500JPLPC_P7500OJPLP8_XSG.zip , and take the link from hotfile.
I've tried a few roms and the best HC from was from Task650. I then went to CM9 which was pretty good and stuck with that from for some time. Task650 then released a modified official stock ICS, this rom was very stable and pretty much bug free. JB was released and went to pershoot's CM 10 experimental, was also good but was buggy and experienced a few crashes and non working apps. Because of this I tried Tryptosyll's AOKP JB from and things didn't improve much better. The JB roms are great and credit is due to those developers but I'll wait until a more bug free JB rom is available. I've always been a fan of Task650 roms so went back to Task650 ICS, but development of this rom has not been as as active as his previous excellent roms. Right now for me the best rom for my tab is Craigtut's Fourth bar:Revolution ICS rom, again based on the official stock from. It's heavily modified and I find it to be the fastest and smoothest rom and is pretty bug free for my tab. Also there is no lag in YouTube and no battery drain issues. I am currently running this from with the latest Yoda kernel with CPU running in interactive mode and over clocked up to 1.2GHz.
Hi guys,
Today I flashed cyanogenmod, most recent nightly as I don't use the pen and apps provided by Samsung.
First impressions
* Phone boots longer than stock.
* Temperature is higher while screen in use
* Car is able to read contacts (stock does have issues there)
* Overall the Rom feels faster and more smooth due to less stuff running in the background
* NFC tag writer cannot switch off GPS
* sound allows higher volume than stock (finally can hear others via Bluetooth)
So far, phone is usable.

These are the issues I have with CM10.1
1. Bad quality call when on speakers.
2. Skype is crashing a lot.
3. Lower battery life than stock.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
For Me issues so far
1-Battery Life compared to stock
2-Loud Speaker Sound is distorted and unclear
3-Some Graphical Distortion when sliding up/Down some menus
*-I don't care about about s pen or multiview or other samsung gimmick I rarely use them, but these issues are basis and annoying
*-Everyweek I can't resist flashing cm saying that these problems maybe fixed this week , ending always with restoring nandroid sammy backup .

@all which suffer the "bader" battery performance than stock TW.
I know this is TW vs. CM10.1 but I also notice "bad" battery performance on CM10.1.
Also little graphic glitches in recents.
I recommend SlimBean 6.2 Weekly by Slimroms. It is a masterpiece on performance, battery and features. Really in every aspec better.
I m still on the first battery circle and have 30 hours standby, 2 and a half hour screen on time 3 hours Music and still over 50% left.
Maybe for the one or other a good option.
Happy flashing
Battery life confirmed.
Guess it's a good idea too collect all of the bugs and keep an updated list of bugs suitable for end-users
Picture quality using CM is way lower than stock, also, a lot of features are not available with CM camera, I know we can replace it with another Camera apps, but I think pictures quality are way higher and better using stock
I hope you guys are talking about nightly because there is not CM release yet.

Of course we are talking about nightlies , there will never be stable cm release for exynos until crapsung release proper sources .

It just amazes me that stock does cause troubles with other devices whereas cm doesn't.
Gesendet von meinem GT-N7100 mit Tapatalk 4
I am also runing (always) the latest CM nightlies on my devices and i have to say that CM 10.1 is bad on the Note II when compared to the Nexus line (all my ather devices are Nexuses).
Issues i've seen till now:
bad battery life when compared to original TW ROM
slow GPS lock when mobile data is turned off
no MHL/HDMI output (again something that depends on Samsung's willingness to open their doors to us...)
poor audio quality when recording videos
poor picture quality comapres to stock camera app
I think this issues will be sorted out over time. Right now i am oscillating between stock and CM because both have good features. On the apps side there are plenty of options so running CM feels great - even the S-Pen works correctly!
Hi,
Personally I find that the most customizable cm10.1 but they are also more intensive battery. Now we can customized a stock through the development of our mods.
Each has its advantages and disadvantages but I prefer a stock.

Mine lags.
I use stock OC5 BTU rom.
I bought it second hand (just couple of months old) and it had knox triggered and with DBT OC5.
I had alexdr's OD2 multi CSC rom wasn't impressed with battery life so got customer recovery and installed deoxed rom.
Unrooted it to use banking apps.
Battery life was terrible so downgraded to KitKat BTU then updated to OC5 using kies.
I haven't done a factor reset after updating. So not sure if factory reset will help.
Battery life is still not very good but I can live with it.
Anyone also experience lags?
My Note 3 was better than this.
Yeah, mine does running SimplRom v3.2F
A lot of users have reported Lollipop lag- it just isn't well optimised for Note 4.
That being said, the one ROM that I've found has the least lag is SimplRom.
I'd recommend it if you're up for rooting etc.

factory reset can help out in a lot of cases, but stock firmware is pretty bad yes.
mostly it's because of all the junk samsung added, but also because they messed around with the runtime and some system apps (like SystemUI that causes a LOT of lag on the recents button)
Ah man. Hope they fix it. Specs are awesome and screen is amazing! But ui is full of lag and random heating up. Moto G is so much smoother
Hi!
I sometimes have recents button lag, sometimes up to 4-5 seconds.
I also experience app crashes several times a day.
Music playback (google play music is what I use) is chopping every now and then, consistently every few minutes. This is regardless of connected headset or bluetooth.
Everything feels so not optimized. I doubt Samsung has time to work on a Note 4 software update, now that they are pushing their new shiny S6 models.
Selling this and getting a LG G4.
Im not facing any types of lags or phone being heated up.Although while playing intense games it gets warmed up.Im running stock rom without root. All I did was a factory reset after the lp upgrade

I downgraded to KitKat now. Still lagging and stuttering present. Naturally had to factory reset with the downgrade. Battery life seems to be definitely better then Lollipop but still laggy as before. My phone can't be faulty can it?
My device doesn't have ANY FC. But I get TONS of lag with:
Photography (reviewing, and launching the camera)
Recent apps / multitasking
I am disappointed in the Note 4 for lags and poor camera quality in anything but superb lighting conditions.
Just might return it if Samsung doesn't fix these issues soon. I'll wait until the end of July, probably, and see if the update comes or not. If it does, and fixes, yay! If not, boo. And if it does come, and doesn't fix anything, double boo and never buying a Samsung device again. Shame on them!
Should i upgrade to lollipop? my note 3 n9005
iv heard some draining battery issue :v
I have the same question. I feel good with KK rom: very stable, fast, battery friend. All apps works good.
I would like to try Lollipop, but read a lot of battery drain problems, no real advantages in performance, some compatibility issues for some apps.
Is lollipop really better, at this moment for note 3?
If yes, in your opinion, why?
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Free mobile app
I ran lollipop since it came out and recently rolled back to KK. The phone is smooth and responsive again.
You wait hours to open the recents and the phone is simply lagging after 2 or 3 days of uptime.
The lollipop UI looks better and feels more polished, but the performance is a deal breaker.
I haven't had any issues with battery life, pretty much same as KK.
Until they fix the memory leak LP will not be any where near as good as KK and with M coming out soon they very well may stop updating LP for M and make a new polish OS instead of patching LP to match KK performances. ..I'm using arya rom v5.4 and having no problems yet but performance is not better than KK and recent apps takes way to long to open ...i do like KK clean fast and battery good audio is better in KK small glitches on LP ...it just doesn't feel like it's polished enough for a high end phone
Sent from my SM-N9005 using XDA Free mobile app
The only way that i'll use LP, is when they release 5.1 version. Until that i stay with 4.4.2.
I'm happily staying on 4.4.2. 5.0 is unstable, looks terrible and has far too many problems.
In fact, I'm still on NB7. Yes, Februari 2014. The battery life I have is amazing, I'm not risking an update.

Which is more frienldy for battery? KK or Lollipop?
I would say kitkat has a better stability ,smoother and more battery friendly without you doing much tweaking. Lollipop can be as good as kitkat but need tweaking.
If you are ordinary user and do not care about updates, I recommend kitkat. If you are flasholic then most likely you will move forward to Lollipop and android M soon.
N9005 Rocking with Norma v21 Lollipop + Lean 6.2
In this week I will back for KK and make a root. Half year wothout root is tiring. White settings etc now are booring for me so i back for 4.4.2 and next maybe update for 5.0 but with using Mobile Odin pro and root permission.
Very irrytating is slow react proximity sensor when i set aside from the ear after call.
Only kk

I've been using the stock xperia marshmallow rom for a while now and i have always felt dissatisfied with the performance. It didn't seem like a flagship device. I know its 2 years old but my brother bought a Lenovo Zuk Z1 recently and it has the same processor, same ram and apps were flying around so smoothly on it compared to my Z2. That made me so disappointed because Z2 is supposed to be an equal atleast if not better since the specs are similar and its sony vs Cyanogen. Although Zuk Z1 was on lollipop so i went back to the stock lollipop on my z2 and things are so smooth and fast. Apps open rather quickly compared to marshmallow. Is it just me or others are noticing the performance decrease too?
Have you perform a hard reset on your device lately? It might help.
Enviado do meu Nexus 7 através de Tapatalk
Yes you are right bro. I have same problem with my Z2 on Marshmallow rom
Z2 MM plain out sucks in comparison to Lollipop. Also many devices with the same spec or lower seem to do a better job at running MM. It's not just performance, but things like call quality and Wi-Fi have taken a hit, even on the latest MM builds. So much for the "upgrade". Maybe Sony is trying to make us upgrade our phones, but their software team is seriously lacking some skill here... I'm back on deodex LP and loving it! Can't think of a reason to update at the mo...

Yes. I've tried everything from removing all the bloat to reducing the number of apps i use to not installing any app at all. I used the fresh rom for a while with just some basic apps like fb, chrome and hike. There are some minor lags here and there and even the settings app takes a second to load after it has come up on screen. On lollipop it just flies up from bottom and thats it. No loading time.

Good for you mate. I just like the xperia x ui and the now on tap, although i could live without it but i just don't like the stock lollipop or marshmallow look now. I need the xperia x look. And so i'm compromising on performance.
So far marshmallow has been disappointing indeed. Permissions are great but not much else. Decreased performance & poor multitasking, I would have rather stayed on lollipop until they fix the issues or perhaps use a custom Rom since Sony will likely stop updating the z2

After using MM for over a month, I am back to Lollipop.. LP is much better at the moment.
MM might need more time. I hope future updates could make it better than LP.
