Hello all,
Just got the moto x pure phone and I noticed that when I push the power button to lock the phone the screen briefly turns black and white before shutting off.. Is this normal?
Is this some feature, it does look cook, just haven't seen it before?
Thanks,
Pete
It is normal and is apart of Lollipop as well, screen fades to black.white
Even though I'm running marshmallow now?

I've recently noticed that my Nexus 4 is having some screen burn-in if I leave the screen on too long. This happens with anything that is pure white. If I reboot, the burn-in (thankfully) goes away.
Has anyone else noticed this?

It's not burn in if it's gone after a reboot don't worry about it, LCD screens don't usually have this problem

I know this thread is old. But just wanted to confirm you're not crazy. I just experienced the same issue on my Nexus 4 after using BBM. I stupidly left the screen on for about 10 minutes on the main screen which has a pure white background. The burn in was so bad my name was clearly visible. It went away though.
How to solve it? Thanks everyone.
Settings-display-turn off notification light.
Oh, it is not always light, but a little light.
I think you need to elaborate a little bit, not really sure what you are experiencing. Do you have a camera so you can take a photo of what you are seeing?
Yeah, could you take a photo to make yourself clearer please? I can't tell if you mean a small amount of light (i.e. the backlight of the display is still on) or a physically little light (i.e. the notification LED).
But no problems in the day, the problem is happens at night, when I lock my screen, there is little light on my screen, I fell worried. I can't take a photo, because photos can't press the problem. the problem is happened when all the lights have turn off.

So are you saying that your screen stays on when you try to lock it? Do you mean that the backlight always stays on and you only notice this issue when it's all dark?
How is your battery life? If your screen stays on I'd expect your battery to not last very long...
Still confused about your particular situation though
Oooh light bleed? Mine has one visible when booting on google loading screen

I think he's talking about that light when you press the power button. The transition effect. It looks like when you power off the TV. The old TV with the big butt.
Edit Nevermind

But he says it's only happening at night... a power-off CRT animation would happen all the time
A quick look on the forum page and you can sort of tell this guy "skyme" is trolling for entertainment purposes. This post claims there is a light when you lock the screen at night, and his other post asks whether he can run Gingerbread 2.3 on his nexus 4.
Quit trolling and get a job buddy

Light bleed shouldn't be too much of a concern, because most of the time your screen will not be black and you will not be in complete darkness so the "problem" shouldn't be noticeable.
You are right. But it is really a problem. And thanks all the same.
I have my g2 for about 4 days. Today I went out in direct sun on screen to see how easy to read. With screen off There is a pattern of shiny specks under the screen of vertical rows of these across the screen. At that time I went to turn it on and would not turn on. Knock or back button. Put on charger then a minute later finally turned on. I can even see the rows with the led light from another phone. Can't see this on a samsung. Is this maybe just something with the way the screen s constructed. Can't see the rows with the screen on. Thanks.

It's normal, I think it's the digitizer.

It must be an LCD thing? Cause I have never seen them on any Samsung that I have had, including my current Note 3.
It was one thing that drove me nuts with my G2. Seeing all of those little dots in sunlight and certain other lighting conditions.

It's the digitizer. If you look at recent LCD screens they all have it.

Guys, thanks for the fast response. Doesn't drive me crazy but would have bothered me a bunch more if not supposed to be that way. Now just need to see if this issue of phone not turning on problem comes back again.
Does anyone else that owns the gold S7 hate that the capacitive buttons have a yellowish tinge to them? Kind of wondering what the other versions buttons look like, are they pure white like I am used to on my past galaxy phones? Anyone know of a way to boost brightness of the buttons without root?

I own a gold s7 edge, never noticed how it was off white until just now... I mean it's not that bad but now I can't unsee it and it bothers me. I used to have a black one and they were honestly kinda off white. Samsung now tints it so it almost looks like the buttons aren't even there until the backlight for the buttons actually turn on. Did they tint it on your s6 edge too or no?

Lol sorry to ruin it for you it definitely cannot be unseen, but no my black s6 edge had pretty white capacitive buttons... however I can see your point regarding tinting them to blend with the color of the body. Not a deal breaker for me but wondering if it's normal and if there's a way to adjust the brightness/whiteness since we will not be seeing root most likely

Why not just turn the capacitive buttons off.... no more tint
Sent from my SM-G935V using XDA-Developers mobile app
I honestly like the buttons, just wish they were a brighter white when they light up. I saw there's an app for controlling how long they stay on or shut them off completely without root, but I just want them to look less yellowish. I've become very particular in my older age lol and rooting has spoiled me!

you can do that? When I had the iphone I missed the back button but now the downside is that when my baby watches a show on youtube she always hits it and turns off the video which is annoying.

Yeah the app is called galaxy button lights in the play store, it doesn't require root and allows you to turn them off/on and change the duration they stay on for. Unfortunately it doesn't completely disable them, they just don't light up if you turn them off. So the baby could still push them accidentally. I just use chrome cast for my kids when they want to watch a video, seems to help most of the time.

The navigation bar seems to have burned into my screen. I can still see it when I'm turning the phone on and when an app goes fullscreen. (Dimmer then it usually is. Mostly on grays.) Hopefully it'll just go away on it's own. I'll update this tomorrow if it went away or not.

I haven't yet seen this. But I would recommend using the one button nav option in the moto app. Life changing

I'm using Resurrection Remix. Not the stock ROM.
I have seen screen burn in my brothers Moto G4 plus he still has the problem
Yup, burn in still there.
It's dimmed now. It's still there but you can barely see it.
No burn in problems here. I've been using one button nav since I got it though.

If it's not as noticeable now, then it probably isn't burn in. Burn in occurs on LED panels, not LCD (which this what this phone has). Historically, this has been a problem with Samsung and their AMOLED screens, not with IPS LCD screens.
