I have a set of these.
I loved them on my HTC One M9. It's great having something with independent volume from the phone volume.
If I get a micro USB adapter like this, will the phone be able to power the earphones?
EDIT: I know they're working on a type C, coming early next year, but I'd like to be able to use the ones I have now to some capacity.

No won't work.
To date I have only found one solution that works:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0171FRXTW?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s01 then use a Type A to micro USB adapter. BULKY solution.
It works but it sucks.
I have yet to find anything else that works.

I have a trinity with the WM6 rom I downloaded from here and have only just bought a mini usb - 3.5 audio adapter, now, everything fits in very nicely, but I'm unable to get sound to switch over to headphones, there arent any options in the phone that I know of, and I cant find any help files either, I dont think it's the adapter, well I cant see anything wrong with it anyway, can anyone shed some light on the subject for me?
awww .....help me pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease
Hi I think at 99% of chances that it comes from your adapter. It might not be good cause if it were it would switch automatically. There is no manual way to activate it cause it's not a matter of software. It is as if you plug a headphone in a mp3 player: There is nothing to activate just plug. Try to buy another adapter which is certified to work with HTC
that's the problem probably: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Trinity_EMUConnector
ahh
thanx michaldu, I believe I see the problem from that diagram now, the adapter seems to be a 5 pin....and the pins are on the top row, which, from that diagram, seems to be for usb, looks like I gotta get me an 11 pin, ah well, thanx anyway dudes, mucho apriciado.
Hey All, I came across an Idea for the TP2, could be used for any for the most part. But As I was coming here I hooked my phone to the usb cable to sync, and then it dawned on me, unless there is one out there already.
Is it possible or could it be done to have the usb cable also act as a sound relay? What I mean is, we all hookup our tp2 to the computer to sync, but I also use MyMobiler to see the screen, so I was wondering since some of us used wired headsets, could an app be created to send the sound signals through the USB cable to the computer, and have the computer work as a handsfree speakerphone? You could use the phone mic since it would be close enough to you.
Just a thought
Well, there's this... http://www.bluesoleil.com/products/Default.aspx?TID=14
Can't remember whether it was Panasonic or Motorola who had this PC sync program which also allowed phone calls though the computer. Loved it! It isn't a new idea, but it is certainly a good one.

Only downfall is you have to have a mic on your computer, I figured you'd just use the phone mic itself. But damn someone beat me to the idea
i would like to see the usb send an audio signal out from the phone to lets say the cd player to hear music playing from the phone...
After reading it further, that works off bluetooth, not a usb cable, so the hunt is on still
Hi, I can't see any way to plug an external condensor mic into my new nexus 4, pretty bummed if that is the case.
I would like to use my phone as a portable recorder that can record sounds in at least cd quality and use some sort of mic I will have to buy.
Much like everyone is doing with their iphones and garageband, maybe the nexus isn't able to do it, there is no hardware problem, my 1st ibook with a 512 mb memory could do this without a single issue, I imagine this device can do it but maybe it isn't made with any thought of getting external audio into it ?
Makes me thing I need an iphone after all.

USB OTG (On the go) is not supported in this phone by stock. None of the developers have been able to figure it out as of now but it may be possible. Another limitation is the voltage the USB hardware is able to provide which we do not know for sure yet. If it is lower than usb spec (and hence USB OTG is not supported stock) then you won't be able to power your mic with the phone.
TL;DR No this phone won't accept your usb microphone, maybe in the future with further research by devs.

That really sucks, lol.. and it did say this phone has "OTG" usb on the google page for the specs for the phone, no ?
Now i see why i need an iphone, i can't even find a note taking program i can manually sync between mac and android (like I did with my blackberry for 10 years) without using cloud storage and stuff, I don't want my stuff on a cloud.
Yes the original marketing material referred to the device having USB OTG. It was removed sometime near release and the rumor we have is that the device can't provide the full 5V required by USB specifications.
As far as no cloud solutions, I'm not really sure what your apprehensions are. Apple is going to sync your notes the same way Google/Evernote would. The days of using a cable to sync your device have passed.
he's trolling...he knows this phone doesnt have OTG
Closing thread.....
Not sure if this is the right topic, but there doesn't seem to be any other place I could put this.
So my brother lost his keyboard USB connector (it's wireless). If I were to go out and buy another one USB connector for the exact same keyboard, would it work? Sounds stupid, I know, but it's worth a try.
Thanks
-Kevin
Straight out of the box, no. In my experience wireless keyboards are paired with their transceivers and have no obvious sync button to pair them to another, there may be a way to do it in software or something which brings me onto:
But where are you going to get another tranceiver from? That would require buying another keyboard in which case just use the new one. Or don't lose USB plugs in the first place, mine stayed plugged into the PC at all times or when in transport was gaffa taped to the keyboard.
Bluetooth keyboards of course don't have this issue. Next keyboard I buy I am intending to be Bluetooth hopefully.

I would say that yes, it should work, provided it was the exact same keyboard.

I have seen 3 of the same model USB wireless keyboard working in one room without interfering. They hadnt been played with either, they were straight out of the box so somehow a keyboard is paired with its included tranceiver.
Thats not to say it can't be paired to another but mine has no obvious way of doing so.

I suspect the BT dongles connect to a certain keyboard BT MAC address. The same thing is true of any BT device; they have to be paired.
No matter what you will always have the issue that you can't buy the adaptor on its own anyway.

That's why I like the hp dongles that can pair with up to five devices...

That's why I like Bluetooth devices where I don't have to pay for a dongle, can't lose it (it's built into my laptops, tablet, phone, and for that matter car), and don't have to give up a USB port to use a wireless peripheral...
If it is a Logitech device you may be able to pair it to a unifying receiver.

Hi!
I'm thinking of buying a Shield to centralise my Plex/Netflix/emulators/etc on one device. One thing I'd like to do though is use a set of old Inspire T7900 speakers (7.1, powered) that I have lying around. I don't have a dedicated receiver (and the speakers wouldn't work with it anyway unless they had pre-amp outs), so I'm thinking I might figure out a way of hooking the Shield directly to them -- perhaps through a USB sound card.
Is this possible? Do you know of any usb sound cards that work with the Shield *and* support 7.1? No need for amplification as the speaker set does it itself (because it was originally designed to work with PC sound cards).
I've been poking around and I've come across a lot of people doing stuff with optical USB adapters and even just pulling sound off the USB port because of reasons, but not this kind of setup. Any help will be welcome thanks!
PS: just in case it comes up, yes, I do plan on getting a proper AV receiver at some point, which I will pair with an adequate set of speakers (not these). However, my living room is quite cramped for AV gear as it is; we expect to move to a bigger house sometime in the next 1-2 years and I figure I'll do it then. For now, the T7900 is good enough.
