Hello!
Today my phone decided to have a mind on his own and do some strange things while I was sleeping.
At first, I noticed that the device decided to turn off and after a while, turn on. I realised that because when I got up I found the popup that reminds you to check the battery cover (it usually appears after turning on the phone). I entered the battery stats and the "timeline" of the battery shows that, apparently, the phone was off for a couple of hours (I'm attaching the screenshot).
After this, my SD card died. It's not recognised by the phone (it shows a message of sd card blank) nor my computer.
Did this happened to you before. Do you know a way to recover my info?
Thanks in advance!
Bettina

Hey,
I've got a serious problem with my XDA Orbit. There is a white screen coming after the boot screen. Sometimes the phone even starts until the todays screen but after a while it is going white again.
I tried hardreset succesfully but the problem still appears. I cannot flash the official wm6 because when the screen goes white the connection to the computer is interrupted. I cannot go into the boot loader...
All the time when I press camera button and softreset the phone is just turning off. Has somebody an idea what I could do?
Any booting with MicroSD card maybe?
Or is it the battery? (I don't think so but it might...The battery was empty for a long time...?)
Or any other ideas?
Greets,
Kon
Just saw this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467648
maybe new battery helps
Li-Ion batteries should be stored charged. Leaving them uncharged can cause them to malfunction, try a new battery.
What do you mean by "stored charged?".
Do I have to have a charger like it is included in a cradle? Or is there another way to charge the battery?
I bought a new one but the same problem still appears...
Sorry to hear the new battery did not help. Have you tried starting the phone with the SIM and Memory card out?
Stored charged means the battery should be fully charged up before storing and every now and then taken out of storage, the charge level inspected and re-charged if required.
Hello World,
So I got my USB to go cable from ebay, and I decided to try it.
Some notes/questions:
1) When I tried one of my card readers, it immediately failed with 'USB device suddenly disconnected'. Is there any way to remove/readd a new device without yanking out/reinserting the USB OTG cable? It's really tight.
2) I tried another card reader and it showed up in /mnt/sdcard/usbStorage.
3) I think I unplugged it without 'safely detaching' it first via the notification bar. After that happened, I noticed my battery was draining curiously fast. Betterbatterystats showed that I had something called USBStorageUnmountter going berzerk and keeping the phone active. So be warned.

Hi there,
Having the same battery drain issue here, even after a fresh reboot, this bloody USBStorageUnmountter keeps on sucking my battery
Dunno what to do :-(
After months of various SD cards not working (phone not detecting them, bootloops when they're inserted, etc), I eventually decided to try out one last SD card that I know works with my brother's phone. Inserting the SD card wouldn't let the phone boot up, as I expected. But even removing the SD card fails to rectify the problem. Now, whenever I try to turn on my phone, the area near the SoC package gets very hot, and I have to remove the battery to power it off and let it cool down. The screen stays blank, and nothing seems to work. I have found out that plugging the phone in while the battery is removed and then reinserting the battery while the phone is still plugged in shows the battery charging icon, but the screen quickly goes blank after that.
Be honest, do I have a bricked phone? Or is there a way to somehow get it to boot, at least into recovery? I have the ZE551KL model.
if u still have warranty asus should take care of ur phone. from what u discribed there is a Short circuit on ur motherboard i don't know if it is possible to repair or not but it is definitly inside ur phone
I have an Gallaxy S4.
Yesterday i turn it of and went to sleep.
At morning, the Screes was black.
First I thougt, the Battery was empty, but it wasn't I load the battery and "sometimes" I plugin the Cable, I see the Battery loading Screen (about 50%).
I've tried a lot, like booting in rescue-mode or in Rom-Download-Mode. What ever I did, following happend:
The Screen shows the Gallaxy-Logo, then shows e.g. rescue or rom-loader menu and then turn black.
It doesn't turn black if I click anything, it seems to be a special amount of time, while the display was on.
So what may be the issue? How can I save my data (I have an SD-Card on Android 7 mounted as internal Storage).
If I could recover the data from SD, it would be fine. If I also could repair the phone, it would be awesome.
Hi,
The screen will turn black in any mode after a certain amount of time to save power. Press the power button short and the screen will turn on again.
Leaving your phone in standby and finding it dead in the morning might mean your battery is dying. (Even if it shows 50% at charge). Take it out, is the battery still flat or getting fat?
An example, mine would show 100% on charger, i would go to the toilet with it, it would die when turning on the screen, when turning it on it showed 2% charge. Replaced it last week since it was about to explode.
You could also go into recovery mode and reset to factory settings, this should not delete your pictures and such. (Not sure though, i have not used stock recovery for years!)
Not sure about the stock recovery, but it might just let you access your files through MTP, which you then can copy to your computer.
Hi.
This is a friend's stock P8 Lite ALE-L21.
He asked me to look at it because it had stopped recognicing the SIM card. He had taken it to a repair shop, and they told him the battery was bad, and replaced it. But after opening... i'm not sure they replaced it, it looks "too stock".
In any case, that didnt solve the problem.
I took the phone apart, cleaned everything with small brushes and contactt cleaner, and inserted my phone's SIM card because he was using his on another phone for the moment. IT WORKED! I could make a call from it and connect to the LTE network.
So i remove the SIM card and give the phone to him. Next day he says that he's put his card on the phone and it wont take it. I take the phone again, try with mine, and no luck.
I have taken it apart again and checked with a multi-meter that every pin on the SIM card tray has a connection with the mainboard, and that all pins are positioned well. I dont think the slot is the problem.
A weird thing happens, also. The phone sommetimes reports 0% battery when you turn it on, even if you just charged it. Just now, it was at 50% battery, i rebooted it, and it reported "battery depleted, the phone will turn off in 30 seoconds". And then i booted again and it reported 12%.
Are this symptoms familiar to someone? Is the board toasted?
