recently i have rooted my sm-a500h running on lollipop(5.0.2) without getting any backup data
now i see that i cant enter private mode to get my media files back
rooted using :
Odin3 v3.09
CF-Auto-Root-a53g-a53gxx-sma500h.tar.md5
if these might help :
after root , rebooting , boots only to recovery mode and i have to select "reboot system now"
wifi cant turn on
the main issue is getting my private stuff back....
Update1 :
I flashed the samsung stock ROM on the device and wifi is back but now I lost my data connection!
I don't know why but when I turn the data connection on ,the data service connection won't seem to work .
but it's not like wifi problem I mentioned before, because in that case I couldn't even turn it on!
And about private data which i managed to retrieve by adb ... I think i won't be able to make any use of it since the encryption key is removed after flash. maybe it could end better if they saved the key on my Samsung account :|

you can probably fix this by flashing stock boot.img. but i would like to know how to make private mode work even when flashing auto root kernel.

Solution for getting back your data from private mode > :silly:
if your device is rooted then you good to go i don't know if this method works on unroot device but at least you can try this > use app store and install an app called [ Build Prop Editor ] then open it and search for the file ( ro.securestorage.support)and change the value of this file " True to False " u need to grant this app with super user for saving file again in root system, then restart your device and turn on "private mode" i hope you will turn it on back.

I just recently bought this phone off someone dont know what they did with it. phone has good imei. But when i make a call the phone seem to freeze or when i get incoming calling the phone freeze. Also the wifi wont let me toggle on. Cant seem to figure out what the problem is. If someone got a solution please do share.
1. Take a look what android firmware is using (Settings - General - About phone)
2. Go to DOWNLOAD MODE (Power off ur phone + Volume down. Volume up then. - Take a look how is the KNOX)
3. Install Kies (if ur phone use android 4.2.2) or Kies 3 (android 4.3 or superior) and take a look if all is ok ( Important see what CSC u use). Only making a factory reset solve the problems sometimes(Settings > Accounts > Back Up and Reset > Factory Data Reset > Reset Device > Delete All/Erase Everything). If this dont solve ur problems, follow the next step
4. Your seller installed one custom rom maybe. If all is ok in the step 3, you can update ur phone by there officially. If no, you will have to use ODIN and flash new stock rom.

First off, this started with a possible error which I will describe incase anyone else encounters this problem with the SM-G9006v by China Unicom
I added my VPN and of course set up a PIN number. I didn't actually use the VPN for a few days, but when I went back to check on it the VPN had disappeared. I attempted to add a new VPN and it appeared in the box area for about a second and then also disappeared. I think it was at this point that I saw my first "Settings has encountered an error" message. The settings window sort of flashed and reloaded. I then went to the Lock Screen area and attempted to remove the PIN number, but was unsuccessful as the other less secure options were greyed out. At this point I pressed setup Password. The password screen came up and I started to enter my information when I received another Settings Error.
So, I am currently faced with a PIN lock screen that does not respond to my original PIN. My phone did not have USB Debugging Set and Reboot Lock is enabled, so I cannot enter recovery to factory reset my phone.
Solved By: Flashing a new Recovery via Odin, Please Note: You might need to use VolUp+Home+Power Button rather than VolDown+Home+Power Button

Yeah, I can't figure out how to get into that recovery mode. It freezes after:
Knox Warranty Void: 0x0
Qualcomm secureboot: enable (CSB)
AP Swrev: s1, t1, a1, p1
UDC START
If anyone has any suggestions...?
I got locked out on my Note 3 from a kernel/rom issue. Only way I could fix was flash stock Via Odin.. Seems like that's the method you'll have to take also.
I was able to solve my problem by flashing CWM via Odin. I thought it hadn't worked because I was using VolDown+Home+Power.
It worked when I used: VolUp+Home+Power

You might want to look at this post on a chinese forum http://bbs.gfan.com/android-7340315-1-1.html
It worked for me, but tripped Knox.
One extra step, not sure if it was necessary, but I installed 豌豆荚 pinyin: wandoujia on my computer, then hooked my phone in. I'm not entirely sure, but I think it helped install the drivers, which might be the only problem.
As far as getting gapps, I'm still working on that too. I put in a few apks to my phone, but gmail and play store are still broken....

Much appreciated! I don't speak Chinese and those around me that do aren't technically inclined. I don't even need a custom ROM if i can get gapps working.
I used a site to download apk's off google play store (website version) and it worked ok. Doesn't work for paid apps, but at least i was able to get google's translate / etc installed. Google translate wouldn't let me load off-line languages though sadly.
When I attempt Odin to flash a recovery or any other file, it won't reboot the phone, then in the stock recovery, odin doesn't see the phone, been a touch of a roadblock. I'll be sure to look into those links.

My recovery ended up being Vol++Home+Power and download mode being Vol-+Home+Power. You might wanna just check that to make sure recovery isn't hiding there.

Hello, i am new to this forum so please don't be rude if this is the wrong section to post this
Today i managed to perma-kill my wifi by starting Pry-Fi and uninstalling it at the same time (shame on me)
Now my wifi seems completely dead it doesn't even try to start.
Things i tried already:
Rebooted with Airplane mode
Used the advanced repair method of the Wifi Connection Manager app
Tried to reset my network/carrier settings with a weird USSD code that didn't work.
Checked /persistent/ and found out that there is no wifi/ folder so i created it inclusive .macaddr file after this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/wifi-stuck-t2721643/post60011636
Also i used adbGUI to gather this info: http://pastebin.com/raw/X4kmCn5s
Specs: Samsung Galaxy Tab 9.3? (SM-T555)
Android 5.1.1 Stock (ROOT)
TWRP 2.8.7.1

Ok, there is no way to restore your network settings because it might be older or newer than the framework itself so your device is going to crash anyways. So you are going to reset it the Official and Samsung way (might not work with custom roms if you have it installed it on your device). Reply to me if you have installed a custom rom.
As I have told other people who are new to XDA,
(BACKUP YOUR SAMSUNG AND GOOGLE ACCOUNTS AND DATA! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES AND LOSSES!)
Download Samsung SmartSwitch
Open up the installer and finish it
Then press the More button on the application
Press Device Initialization
Press Device Initialization again in the new tab
Type in your model number and your serial number (Don't press search yet!)
Plug in your device
Turn off your device and go to Download Mode (Volume Down + Power Button + Home Button)
It will say if you want to install a Custom Rom, blah blah blah
Press Volume Up button and it should take you to Download Mode
Go back to the PC and press search
Samsung SmartSwitch should download files and it will come out with the Admin Delegator Privileges
Grant the permission to it
Your new and updated firmware should be downloading
It usually takes 10 minutes to 3 hours depending on how good your Wi-Fi and your computer is.
If I helped smash that Thanks button!

Hey guys,
I just got a used S8+. Upon booting up it was a clean factory reset. I went forward with the setup.
When i open up Samsung Pay i get the "samsung pay access to samsung pay has been denied...." msg.
This phone is not rooted, i have downloaded a root check and comes back as false.
The person who had the phone never rooted the phone.
And i also get this notification " Security Notice, unauthorized actions have been detected..."
Anyone know what could be wrong with it?
go into download mode, and see there if knox has been tripped. also can you use secure folder?
I had a similiar issue (KNOX not tripped). Just downloaded stock Odin ROM, flashed it and everything worked again.
This is what i get when in download mode?
Ill test Secure Folder now...brb
This is what i get when secure folder is launched.
Secure folder cannot be set up because unauthorized software was installed on the device.

Yes, it is alway best to flash all files, but if you don't mind loosing your data, you can flash CSC_* package in place of CSC, to also repartition your phone and start fresh. But if you want to keep your data, you can flash the HOME_CSC_* package instead.
Just tried it with all the files and i get this.

Hi!
You can say how please?
Thanks!
My G4's been working fine since i had but about a week ago i noticed it wasn't connecting to any wifi networks. It was searching but couldn't find any.
I did a hard reset and now can't get past the android set up page, as soon as it starts searching for a wifi network it locks up and then reboots after about 10 seconds.
The MAC address is listed as 02:00:00:00:00:00
I've reflashed the Stock ROM that was already on it but it's made no difference, any ideas???
Have you got root?
No never been rooted
You could try rooting your phone and changing manually the MAC with some app.
Can't get past the android setup so I can't install any apps!
Give more detailed info about your problem

The bootloader isn't unlocked.
Before flashing it was on NPJS25.93-14-13/3
I reflashed using https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/stock-rom-npjs25-93-14-4-march-1-t3608138
Just to clarify the wifi wasnt working before the flash hence the reason for reflashing
Just tried unlocking the bootloader so i can try other roms but it wont let me. Keeps telling me to tick allow oem unlock. Cant do that as i cant get past set up screen!!
are you sure you are flashing the right version for your device??? flashing wrong firmware causes the MAC id issue most of the time!

Yes definitely the right version. The MAC id problem was there before any flashing was done.
at setup screen skip the setup, if you can. I am not sure, if you can skip it or not..I don't know, what other way you can do things without unlocking the bootloader
There's no option to skip the setup unfortunately, It locks up and restarts once its trying to connect to wifi. I've tried using the mobile network but it still crashes and restarts (I'm assuming that this is because wifi is still being turned on).
I'm at a bit of a loss what to do really???
I'm not sure whats causing the issue with the wifi, flashing stock ROM hasn't helped and i'm unable to unlock the bootloader because i can't get it to boot! Any help greatly appreciated!!!
Im beginning to think that there's no way to fix this, what i can't understand is why the wifi still isn't working after reflashing stock ROM surely that should clear everything back to factory including whatevers stopping the wifi working.
Could possibly be a hardware issuei suppose ,is it possible to replace the wifi chip?

I still have the original stock rom and exactly the same problem!
The last update ****ed it over!
I will now try cache clear on stock rom before I go further
Edit - No change! Definately need a solution for this
As I have the same problem I will wait for further support so that worst case I can provide help for the other user.
Mobile Data still works tough
Phone: never rooted, after cache clear it doesnt ask for update anymore which helps
EDIT 2: Got it to work. I wsa able to get into a public wifi download the new update and all is fine.
1. Clear cache
2. public wifi or download the latest update from XDA and start manually
This should fix it!
Just to share what helped me to recover Wi-Fi and solve the MAC address 02:00:00:00:00:00:
A. Get the apk file of the Wifi Mac Changer app and install it in your phone without Wi-Fi.
B. Open it and grant root access. You'll see that your "Real" MAC address will be 02:00:00:00:00:00.
C. Then you have your "Fake" Mac Address. Copy it into the line "New Mac" and press "Hard change" button. You don't need even to reboot to restore your Wi-Fi.
D. For me, it worked at the first time, I can also uninstall the app later. Later dirty flashes of ROMs got Wi-Fi without issues.
Hope it helps.
