Dear Members,
Had my tab rooted by a supposedly good tekkie...Got home, booted it up... all apps there. Seems to work okay BUT...after a minute a very tiny script appears in top right hand corner of my screen...constantly updating..like a system or process monitor. I can't make it go away. I have super user status, have installed root manager apps but nothing there to fix the problem. My tab is Samsung GT-P5210 (Galaxy S3 lte) . I believe my TWRP was corrupted during rooting process. Don't know what to do. Am on the road..need my tab..am afraid to Wipe and end up with bigger problems. Please point me in the right direction. Thanks.

So, I'm a total noob with the android phones. Just bought my Xcover 2 after using my old C7 for 3-years. I got curious about the rooting and decided to go on with it. Installed CWM just fine and rooted the phone successfully. Then I decided to try flashing the S4 Accuweather widget right away (I didn't like the stock one at all and I had a trend plus for few weeks which had the S4 widget).
That didn't go so well... I got the "System UI has stopped working error" popping up all the time. Decided to go back to recovery and try another S4 widget install. Didn't work either. Then I decided that doing a "data wipe" would be a good idea. But nope instead I get the same "System UI has stopped working" and a black screen with no apps and no way to access the apps. I was really idiotic to not make backup of my current ROM state before starting to install anything. I just thought that "it's just one small app".
Now I'm currently downloading the stock ROM from Samsung Updates and trying to flash it through Odin. Will that restore my phone back the the original state or am I just simply ******? Gosh, I wish I had never done the rooting, I was fine with the original....
Hi
Yes, Flashing the proper stock firmware should get you back in business.
Some tips going forward...
Don't install or flash anything not made for your exact device, unless you find confirmation that it will work. You could have many issues, including bricking your device.
And, a factory reset won't fix system issues, it will only wipe your cache and data partitions. So system changes, like what you attempted will not be fixed.
And other issues or questions for your device can be asked here,
> Android Development and Hacking > Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Good luck!
Hi,
I'm new to XDA forums, and this is the first time that have ever tried rooting my phone. I got it in my head that I wanted to root my Samsung Galaxy S5 SW-G900P so that I could add a hot spot mod. I followed a few tutorials which helped me accomplish root. I then added TWRP and that went fine as well. Then I added a WiFi Tethering Mod (unlockHotspot-1.4-NE5-DEODEX.zip) via TWRP. I was asked to wipe Dalvik cache which is where I think the problem started. I think I did something and stopped the delete process. I can't recall. I turned on my phone with anticipation of being able to use Hotspot. The phone started to boot as normal; the Samsung logo with lines moving around it showed; the yellow 4g 3d animated graphics showed; then the main 4g graphic showed and stayed on my screen which is where it stayed and nothing after that. Just the 4g logo. So, I pulled the battery and started my phone in recovery mode which took me directly into the TWRP interface. I figured that I needed to reload the 6gig backup file that I created (through TWRP) in order to bring my phone back to life. I believe that I was given options to install the recovery file which (I don't remember them all) already had a few check marks added to the options. However, there were other options such as the System and Recovery boxes that were not checked, so I checked those boxes as well. I reinstalled from the recovery backup file and everything seemed to work fine until TWRP rebooted the phone and now I am stuck going through the recovery booting process again. Every time I turn on the phone, I get to the teamwin screen which blinks and blinks. Did I brick or soft-brick my phone? I'm newb to this and need a little help to get my phone working again. Also, am I in the right part of the XDA forum to ask questions? Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope.
@Uclid
Soft brick.
Go to sammobile, find your stock firmware, uzip it, flash with Odin in download mode and your phone will wake up from her sleep
Sent from my XT1528 using XDA Labs
Thank you, thank you! I really appreciate the reply. I downloaded the firmware this morning and just loaded it to my phone. All good now. Now, to get that hotspot mod to work.
Good to see you got your phone back up and running......but if you flashed the firmware with odin, you will have lost root and overwritten TWRP.......
You'll need both back before you can flash that zip......

Hello there all, for the past few hours I've been attempting to root my AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (SAMSUNG-SM-G935A). I have had several issues with this process that I am going to detail below, any and help is very, very appreciated.
I believe I have tried this four to five times, to no avail, and each time it has gotten somewhat better I believe.
The first time, I got through the process of using ODIN correctly, it displayed me with the PASS graphic and I continued onward. I went on to the Fast Boot step where I attempted to install SuperSU and it looked like it had worked to me, but this was my first attempt so that honestly doesn't mean much. Anyway, I opened up my phone, SuperSU was not there, and I used the Root Checker. The Root Checker told me it hadn't installed correctly. I pondered for a bit as to what I should do and ran the process again from the beginning. However, the second time I swapped to a better USB port on my PC and there was a difference in the performance of Fast Boot, and SuperSU had installed. I went to my Root Checker, and it again told me that there was no root. I believe I tried once more, I then Factory Reset my device. After I did this, I went through the same process again, following along perfectly to text directions and video tutorials and it installed SuperSU, but no root was there.
I believe I may have done it once or twice since the Factory Reset. Another thing I would like to note about this process was that from the very beginning it has given me the "symptoms of a root". By this I mean the lag, different icons in the carrier bar up top, and possibly more. One other thing I noticed was that even when I had Factory Reset my device, it still gave me the icon on my start up screen. The icon that shows the unlocked lock and says "custom" beneath it.
As I said in the beginning, any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance!
G'day all,
Hoping someone can help. (firstly I've searched on here over and over and some things have really helped, but can't find this issues on here)
Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-i9505 (originally with Vodafone rom)
Back story, I managed to put google rom via WINTEAM at some point in time (I don't recall how I did this now) this file - crdroid-6.0.0-20151208-jfltexx.zip (I still have this but not a md5 file)
Anyway, I wiped it under settings and basically stuffed it right up. Loops on WINTEAM (this part I had found in search and downloaded Odin3 v3.13) and Samsung Rom and a couple of others.

CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.tar.md5
The last one actually fixed up the google install but was hoping to place the original Samsung ROM back on and now it doesn't help at all when I run again.
The top 3 are Vodafone, Telstra and Max a forum had suggested (from a page on here somewhere). All of these say pass in Odin3 when installing onto phone. But once it gets to the Samsung with what looks like dots shooting out from the word it never gets past this at all.
When I power up the S4 phone, to get to download screen. I have volume up to download or volume down to restart phone. Some places I've read say to select wipe, I don' t have this option at all.
I saw an option to install s8 rom to s4 which I would like to do, but the how to do that requires working software first and install TWRN or something like that.
I'm not sure if this will run fast or ok on this phone, but it isn't a MD5 file either.
I would like Samsung ROM back on as it (for me cleaner than google or maybe just what I've been used to). I'd like to give to my youngest child as their first phone.
I also had tried to place zip files and also unzipped files on the SD card on the phone, nothing worked for me as it looks like it is expected ODIN3 to work.
At this stage of the day, I would just like to have it functioning again with anything that works.
Any advice on what to do now would be greatly appreciated, also I'm truly sorry if this problem has been documented, I really did try to do my research first before putting this up here. I've been on this for weeks now
So quick update. through more research, I have managed to install TWRP and now have access to additional utilities through WINTEAM. I've now tried to install ROM through the Micro SD card.
I think it comes up with a mount error, but has rebooted and still stuck so can confirm just yet.
I've managed to go through the entire process of installing the PurifieD+ROM+v3.5.zip through the micro SD card in the phone. Asked me about all the options etc during the install. There didn't appear to be any errors at all. Asked to reboot. etc....
I even had sound on the bootup, Now I have the Samsung word on the main screen with a blue backlight just flashing. Been like that for nearly 10 minutes. Not looking good.
Have I got bad memory or am I doing something wrong?
I managed to do a wipe after I did an install and it booted up find. I had no WiFi but than installed the vodafone install that should be the original and all works now.
The amount of time I had been working on this, I really didn't think I was going to get it going. I honestly thought I had some hardware error going on.
In the end it runs now, I can setup and had to my child
so I've managed to now use several different ROMs but now I can't root the phone (it should be able to, has been before)
When I run Motochopper I get this error
error: only position independent executables (PIE) are supported.
Seems to happen no matter what rom I've installed. I can't seem to find an older rom running android version 5.01 now
Any help on how to root this. Would be great
Now says it has been rooted, but I do not get the teamwin boot menu option at all. more like just a text style menu for wiping and loading other roms.
My Samsung SM P580 was giving me problems recently, and I'm waiting for a new (non Samsung) tablet to arrive. I wanted to try to root my current one (which I've done before). Long story short, I installed older firmware, didn't like it, and reinstalled 8.0 successfully. Did I leave it there? NOOOOOO . . . I wanted to root it so I could use the sd card for internal storage (which is a separate song and dance as many of you know). I installed twrp, but must have clicked on a wrong setting. When I rebooted the tablet it always went straight into twrp. Only option from there: reboot. I did a hard shut down and plugged in the tablet for the night.
Today: I thought "hey, I can reinstall the firmware, hopefully that will fix the twrp issue" Heh heh . . . no. Using ODIN I reinstalled the 8.0 (which worked last time). It seemed to be hunky dorey, ODIN said it was successful, when I rebooted the tablet it gave me a message that it was updating. Then the Samsung Galaxy Tab A showed up . . . and the Samsung logo starting flashing. Awesome. It did that for a moment or two, the screen went blank. A moment or two later the Samsung Galaxy Tab A showed up again, followed by the logo. I let it do this for about 20 minutes, remembering the last time I rooted it took a few for things to settle in. Nothin. ODIN it again, this time I get a message stating an updating error occurred. This is where my tablet is now.
Only thing I could think of was that I messed around so much with firmware, that the tablet is filled with info and has no idea what to do. I can't use the twrp either, it won't come up. Any ideas on how to start from scratch with something like this? I had nothing important on the tablet, nothing backed up was needed. Thoughts?
UPDATE:
I was able to install twrp and boot into it. After doing a data wipe, I was going to attempt in install Lineage; I got everything on an SD card, put it in. Hit Install, Select Storage . . . the internal storage said zero. I considered rebooting it, but I got a warning that there was no OS installed, was I sure I wanted to reboot? I most certainly was not, and I didn't try to install the Lineage for fear of f****** that up too.

Maybe better to flash a recent stock Samsung firmware with Odin. At least to get it working again.
