Do you mean having two separate lists of notification/ringtone sounds to choose from?
You can use a file explorer (Like ES File Explorer) to put media inside the storage\0\Ringtones and \Notifications folders respectively.
Or are you saying that your ringtone and notification sounds are identical?

Sorry I meant volumes. I would like to turn off notification volume and leave ring on.

Only can be done with a custom rom to my knowledge. That feature was implemented into the rom I'm using now.

What rom are you using?

Settings/Sound &notification/Default notification ringtone/None

I want the phone to ring I want notification off only.

Why not set up your priority mode under Do not disturb for only calls?

This is the same setting that I use on my 6P. My ringtone will go off when I get a phone but my notification is silent.

How to get rid of menu clicks?

Whenever I press the start button, and work with pulldown menus, there is loud annoying click which I am unable to switch off or lower its volume, because if I lower the volume, I will also lower the volume for the ringtone. I found the file which does the "click" but am unable to delete it. Any suggestions?
Goto Settings -> Sounds and Notifications -> Disable sounds for Events

This is obvious but not good. If I do this, there won't be any notifications for all of the events, like missed phone call, new text message etc.

How to Mute the ring

I had the diamond and the HTC Pro2 before and whenever I got a ring that I don't want, I just press on one of the volume buttons and it will mute the ring, but in the HD2, I remember it was working at the begininning but after some installation or tweak I lost it and even the mute ring button on screen is not working any more, does anybody know how to fix this. Thanks

Both actions should mute the ring. Try the third option. Flip over the phone to face it down. It also mutes.
I also have this issue but on text messages.. I have a song as the ringer for a text.. the ringer wont stop unless i actually open the message that was received. =(
If i get one txt after another, both songs overlap

Thanks for reply.. However, to those considering using a shorter sound as an sms. if the mp3 sound is to short or file size to small, the phone wont pick it up, it wont even appear as an option to use as a ringer.
in that case use wma or wav files. the alarms that come built in are around 50k wma files.
Another observation was that if you fo to Setting> All Setting> Sound & Notifications.. Notifications tab, Select Incoming Message, and select Display Message on Screen.. Then the ringtone will only sound for 3-5 secons...
Just FYI..

Ring & Vibrate at the same time?

Hi,
I cannot seems to find a ring option that will also allow vibrate. For now, I can only choose Ring or Vibrate but not both. When I choose Vibrate profile and try to turn on the volume, it automatically change to normal. TIA.

Go to settings/sound/ the third one down where it says "vibrate" put a check mark in it. You have to have the ringer volume up in order to put a check there.
Agree w/ earlier guidance.
It also depends on the ROM.
Most, but not all ROMs allow for this functionality.
I've only seen a few that didn't.

I've do have that checked but I don't think it ever vibrate, in only rings.

Does it vibrate for other things? Like when you turn it on or while typing?
Get Sound Manager from the market. Open it up and press menu then Vibrate Settings. Set to Vibrate Whenever Possible.

Text notification during calls

I'm using the native messaging app and cant figure out how to turn on the message notification during a call. Is this not a feature of Marshmallow?

I have the same issue. It's annoying the piss out of me. I'm coming from an HTC7 so maybe that just spoiled me?
Any of the custom Roms have this option?

go into your settings>sounds and notification >interruptions. Here you can edit what notification will interrupt you while being on a call. (Copied from a thread on XDA )
OR
Use tasker. Make a profile that makes a short vibration upon receiving a notification. You could use a sound instead of vibrate.
Unless im overlooking it, there is no interruptions option under settings > sounds and notification.
From what I can tell "interruptions" was replaced with "Do Not Disturb".
I'll have a look at tasker.

Anyone else doesn't hear touch tones when they dial?

Yes, it is enabled in Phone/Settings/Call alerts and Ringtones - Play Keypad Tones is checked.
