I received my Nexus 6P today and ran into an odd little issue. I use a Turtle Beach PX22 headset for calling on hangouts and it used to work like a charm with my Nexus 5. With the 6P though the first time I tried it played the sound over the speakers, as if it didn't recognise that the headset was plugged in. I unplugged then plugged back in and the sound was fine, but no matter what I do I can't get the microphone to work.
I found a thread on Reddit about this particular problem with this particular phone and headset but no solution so far. Does anyone here have any ideas?

A month or two ago I just started using my epic for music while I ran. I think I damaged the headphone jack somehow plugging in my earbuds because music started coming through only one earbud. But this happened on the second or third day I used it. And I never damage the headphone jack of my mp3 I use all the time. Also nothing was loose inside there, the jack seemed as strong as it ever was. So I stopped using earbuds completely and started using some bluetooth device to stream my music.
Starting yesterday the epic's speaker started fading in and out while on a call, also the mic stopped working when the speaker faded out. Then an hour or two later no sound out of the speakers and no mic 100% of the time. The speakerphone button is even disabled during my the calls. No music, game or notification sounds either. But toggling airplane mode still gives that connection/roaming notification. I tried plugging my earbuds in and one of them worked like it did before and the mic started working. But the weird part is, if it take the earbud out then in I can hear sound coming from thru epic's speaker for half a second. And if I leaver a headphone jack half way plugged in, the epic speaker works as normal. I cut off a headphone plug from a crappy pair of earbuds and taped it so it will only plug in halfway and now my phone works like normal. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
I'm running the toadlife rom, but I have tried just about everything software wise to fix this to no avail. Loading stock, wiping everything, leaving battery out, nothing seems to fix it. Seems like it's something in the hardware and if it is a software glitch it's also in stock.
Defenitely a hardware problem... unroot the phone and take it to sprint and have them look at it...

I managed to fix the problem with a widget I found on the market place, toggleheadset2. It manually sets the headphone flag on or off in the OS. It's a little kludgy but my phone is back to normal. Still only one earbud works when I plug it in, but I can live with that.
I'm out of warranty and don't have TEP so I'm hesitant taking it back to sprint.
Try cleaning the headphone jack, the contacts might be a little dirty. When mine was dirty, the phone didn't know if the headphones were unplugged from the phone so the speaker and mic are disabled unless the headphones were in.
I had an issue with mine. But I couldn't hear anything while callin and it wouldn't go into speaker phone mode either. I called sprint. Went to my music and could toggle the 5.1 s. Sound on and off so I. Plugged the headphone plug inand out a few times and it di the trick. No probems since then. Works with xbox 360 controllers also lol

They might fix it for a relatively cheap price, plus it doesn't hurt to just find out, id say go check at a Sprint store first man.

I just opened my new Nexus 7 earlier today, and haven't modified it in any way. For some reason, while I am watching a movie, I try to plug in my headphones, and the audio continues to play through the speakers. Anyone else have this issue or a possible solution?
Noticed that too, in any video player. Really wierd and is a real problem.

My headphone port is defective :-( I have to wiggle the headphone jack to get it to work and if I move it in any way it stops working.
From my long awaited and totally worth it EVO LTE!
Similar issue appeared today when I plugged my headphones into the port. i have to hold the cable a specific way for SOME of the audio to come through the headset. i've tried a few pairs of headphones too.

Since updating to 4.2, no matter how hard/deep I shove it in, the device never outputs music to the earbuds. Only to the speaker.
Did Google break this is did my device NOT enjoy it's perfectly normal OTA?
mine works
Try using a different headset to verify.
On mine headphones work just fine after the update.
But when you plug them in until the end you ca hear the speakers or nothing?
Try a different set or you could revert but it shouldn't be related to software update.

no sound on right earbud
My one also got problem with headphone jack. No sound on right ear bud after upgrade. I've tried with several ear buds but same. Do you guy have any idea about this ? Thanks.
I've tried two pairs of earbuds and a pair of headphones, no difference.
I plug them in, no sign of anything on the system bar.
If music was running, it continues through speaker on the back, as if nothing was plugged in.
If I start music after plugging them in, it plays through the speaker on the back.
Hmm, where's the proper support place to go for a Nexus bought in store, Google, ASUS?
It works fine with my HTC OEM Beats ear buds although the music buttons don't work, but not my Sony Live Key ear buds, but you have to push the plug in until it won't go any further to get sound to come out of the headset and not the rear speaker.

I've tried the earbuds from my (T-Mobile) Galaxy S3, J5M JBuds, and a an old pair of Cyber Acustics HE-200 and no dice.
The Samsung buds, I know need to be pushed in all the way to function, but these don't go in any deeper without breaking the tablet lol.
Had no change with the 4.1.2 or 4.2 factory images, so I'm calling this one coincidence meets hardware failure.
That's gotta be some bad coincidence. I just picked up my worst pair of iBuds and they worked just fine.

Anyone had the earpiece just stop working? This is my 2nd day of owning the G2 and so far it has performed awesomely. I did use audio a lot today. I drove my usual route to work with Waze in the background and I listed to an hour long Podcast. Got to work and didn't use my phone at all until lunch. Went to the gym and streamed music from DI.FM for about an hour and a half. Went back to work. Then I tried to make some phone calls and the earpiece didn't work, I couldn't get any sound out of it. I made sure bluetooth was off in case it was still connected to something, and even hitting the speaker in call I still had no sound, although I could get sounds in other apps.
Finally I just did a full reboot and sound came back to the earpiece with no problems till then. It seems like a software issue, not hardware issue. Anyone else have this?
If you haven't gotten the ota it should fix this...if you have maybe worry maybe a fluke

Got my Note3 on VZW last night, and so far i love almost everything about it....except...
I am sitting at work streaming music. I have a set of speakers plugged into the headphone jack.
When i receive an SMS (or any notification), the music pauses like normal. However, right before and after the pause, i hear a "pop" sound, as if i physically unplugged the speakers and plugged them back in. My Gnex that the note replaced definitely did not do this.
I don't believe it made the sound when connected BT in my car.
Is anyone else seeing this behavior? It sounds like a grounding issue.
Same for me

I am using Rhapsody, so there isn't another app option. I dont have any local music on the phone yet, but i will try that at some point.
I stream music through Rhapsody every day. I hope this isn't a hardware issue. Seeing poweramp work better makes me hopeful it is just a software issue.
