[Q] Headphone/Speaker

Does anyone else have this issue where sometimes when you plug in headphones the sound still comes through the speaker? I have the headphones plugged all the way in. I usually have to restart the phone to get it to work properly.
[Edit]: When this happens the sound comes out from the speaker as well as through the headphones.

Mine is more of when I bump the headphone jack it either plays through the speaker or pauses the song. It seems very sensitive

My first Vibrant had a faulty headphone jack, that would short out with even the slightest touch. You guys might be in the same boat.
Overall, yes, I would agree that the headphone jack is 'cheap'. It seems as if it could be easily broken, and having one arrive DOA is not a great sign.
If you're still able to, I'd take your phones in for a swap. You're not going crazy.

Same issue here. It's especially an issue when you're sitting in your quite cube at work about to watch The Bed Intruder video on YouTube and it comes blaring out of the speaker when you thought is was going to come out of your headphones.
I think the third connection point for the video causes the problem since the device has 3 contacts instead of just left and right audio like most devices.

Call's people whilst an AUX jack is in.

I've checked high and low on the forums for something similar or a solution to my problem, but alas I can't find anything so I'm starting a thread.
As the title state's my phone rings people whenever an AUX jack is in, listening to music, or hooked up to a stereo. I've tried restoring to factory setting's also I've tried different headphones and stereo's but still no joy.
T-Mobile
HTC HD Desire HD.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hmm, maybe I've got a similar probelm, I use normal 3.5mm in-ear headphones with my Desire HD and they are able to make strange things, if I gently move the jack, sometimes my phones starts a call to the latest called person, sometimes it skips to the next song, sometimes the music is paused.
I think that has something to to with the default headset funcionality, but it would be great if there was a way to lock any function other than playing music if no multi-functional headset is plugged in.

You're going to think I'm nuts but I've tried everything.
It seems to go berserk when you do a screwing motion with the 3.5mm jack. It doesn't make any difference what headphones I use whether they've got any calling buttons on them or not they just go absolutely mental.
I will admit to doing the calling bug that increases the music volume when you hang up straight after making the call.
But I still can't get around it and it's VERY frustrating, especially in the car.

Hey, i have the same problem. This morning i was listening to music on my way to school. And all of the sudden it went berserk, started calling, skipping. What to do?

That happens if the AUX wire passes a current (many times stray) back to the phone. The phone just reacts in the way it would if a button was pressed on one of those headphones having an in-line mic/button.
A lot of times this stray current comes because of static build-up. I'm sure you guys know how to get rid of that. If it's not because of static, it might be because of faulty wiring on the audio enhancement (not usually the case), or if the audio enhancement and the phone function at hugely different potential differences (also, usually not the case).
As far as mine is concerned, freeing it of static usually helps.
One way to quickly judge if it's static that's the problem is if the call/skip/whatever usually takes place the minute you plug it in.

However im testing the new ICS rom by Lord Clockan and twistedumbrella and there is no compatability for ICS. Wondering is anyone knows what part of the phone controls headset controls so i can mak an app to block it on 4.0?
Its a real pain as i cant play music at all,
random apps start playing music over other apps and music stops in others, skips tracks etc. SO frustrating.

Take out headphones
Blow into the jack hole
Plug back in headphones
Sorted till the next time crap builds up in there.

I have the same problem. And its realy anoyeing me . Cant listen to music at all anymore on my desire HD...
I have that problem for a while now. The blwoing inside technik did work for a while, but doesent anymore.
That headset blocker would be amazing if it would be working on ICS. Im on the LordMod Beta to.
@geinome would be amazing if you could make an app to fix that. But honestly i have no idea were in the sistem that headset control is located. Hope you can find it.

Found a Fix. Hope it helps you guys to.
I found an other App, that did solfe the problem for me eaven on ICS. The App Headset Interceptor is meant to let you choos, which Music App should receve the signal coming from the remote on the headset. But if you dont choose any from the Apps to get the signal, none dose and so none is cousing problems
Would love to post you guys the link to the market, but cant couse i dont have anouth post yet. But im sure i can sind it yourself
I hope this is solving the problem with the unwanted calls to. Couse i never had that problem, i cant test that.

you dont need any apps
you just need a needle to clean up the pocket lint inside the 3.55 jack.

for me it's usually enough to unplug the jack and plug it in again and all works well for the next month or so.

Headphones Distortion / Background Noise

Hi - just wondering if anyone else noticed some background noise / distortion when using headphones on the tab 7.7.
Happens when playing any sound and continues for 2-3 seconds after it stops. Tested with the stock buds and some replacement buds I picked up a few days ago. With my over the ear headphones I can't hear it though. Easiest way to test is just by playing a movie and pausing it.... there is a hissing noise for a few seconds afterwards.
Maybe related: even with headphones plugged in, notification sounds come out of the speakers - this is my first Android device so I'm not sure if that's normal or not.
Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this or if it might be hardware related. Thanks!

Yeah I get that too. Doesn't really bother me though. I mean, it's not like I can still hear it while playing music or anything...

Mine's pretty noticable, even when playing music/videos. Weird that it's totally quiet with my over-the-ear headphones

Personally, I only really notice it if there's a trailing silence from music or videos, but while there's actually sound, I can't detect it.

[Q] Voice Mail and Google Now randomly opening with Headphones plugged

Hello guys,
Sometimes this happens with me, when I have my Headphone or Apple earphones (just temporary) suddenly the Google Now pops up and activate the mic, and sometime this happens when I'm listening to a song or podcast, and it's really annoying...
Looks like that this happens when I rotate the phone or when I shake it or do some fast movement, and when It's on the lockscreen, the Voice Dialer pops up instead of Google Now.
I don't know if it's the headphone problem (It's the old Apple Earphones, from my iPod, so it doens't have mic, and my Headphone don't have mic aswell) because I never noticed this when I was using my Sennheiser CX 300II (also don't have mic) that died recently.
Anyone know why this is happening and how can I solve this? I bought a new earbud but it didn't arrived yet, but I'm worried if that thing continues to happen.

Yeah, probably, I plugged my old Sennheiser and it didn't happend. But, when I put the apple back on, the problem was back, anyway, I think I figure it out... I went to Google Now settings and disabled the Voice Activation System, and the problem is gone for now.

Line out audio hiss/bad headphones fine.

So first day with the phone and I get in the car to listen to music and there's a hiss and just weird noises. I'm like awe crap, I've got a bad one. I pull out some headphones and there's no hiss.
I restart the phone and plug it back into the car and still a hiss, retest headphones, they are fine.
Is it bad or is everyone getting this. My note 5 is fine on both with the same test.
It's worse when charging, but my other phone [Note 5] is dead silent. When charging it's extremely bad, like an fm station losing signal.
Also posted this on redit and others are having the same result.

Try different auxiliary cable to further you hypothesis. But haven't noticed this. Will test in the am.

I originally had this in the verizon Q&A.
I noticed a constant hiss or static sound coming from my car speakers whenever there was silence during music playback from my phone when connect through the aux cable. I thought it was a hardware problem. Lucky for me it wasn't and I didn't have to exchange my phone or cough up any money. Easy fix was, I went into settings under sounds and vibrations and went to sound quality and effects and turned on the uhq upscaler and the static was gone. I worked and sound is much better! If the option is grayed out, insert the plug into the headphone jack. Let me knowif it works for you!

I'll be trying that first thing when I leave for work

I am an Android newbie who ran into this problem earlier today as well. I switched the upscale feature on and the problem still persists. To note I was listening to a song via YouTube.

Toggled off and back on. The hiss or Humm is gone but the audio quality is the same as the speaker on the phone itself. I played with each equalizer setting to get it to sound normal to no avail. Guess I'm going to walk into a store tomorrow with audio cable in my hand and try display device and my device and see if there is a difference

Wife took my aux cable out of the motor home. I got it back to use my new S7 for the first time and HORRIBLE static. Proceed to blame wife for breaking the cable. Buy a new cable ... still hisses (uh oh, perhaps I should not have been so quick to blame the wife). Try on my home stereo, no hiss. Try in my trucks aux jack with same cable, no hiss. Try the same cable in RV, terrible hiss.
Interestingly, I found that if i had the volume on the phone down around 1/3 there was no hiss, but with the stereo all the way up the music was too quiet. But, 1 click on the phone volume up button, terrible hiss. One click back down, hiss goes away. When I first had the problem a few days ago, the hissing would actually vary with the beat of the music ... so weird.
Anyway, just went out to the RV, plugged in my phone, playing the music with terrible hiss. Flip the UHQ toggle and miraculously the hiss is gone!!!
So happy to find this easy solution. No idea what Samsung did to screw this up in the first place.
