I had been having great battery life the first couple of weeks with the Nexus 6P when I first got it, but now I am have major issues with doze and very very low screen on time.
I find that my phone does something weird instead of doze... I was wondering if anyone can provide some insight to this issue. I do not have any social media apps installed and I am trying to make do without crippling Google Now and Location Services :/
Here are some examples of what has happened as of today morning.

I have already gone ahead and done a factory reset of the device to alleviate any issues, and slowly adding back my applications. I added the last new app on Monday evening and Tuesday I continued to have GREAT battery life with 4.5H SoT over 24H off the charger without pristine signal, either, which is great! However, the following day (with no changes, apps/accounts added/removed) the battery life has become utter garbage.
On the attached pics I had even restarted before taking it off of the charger, so I have no clue what could be the problem. also from 12 (midnight) onwards, I was asleep until taking these screenshots at 645AM at which point I had gone from ~70% to 25% in 7 hours which, in my opinion, is horrible considering the great signal that I had.
Any suggestions and/or help is appreciated! Only thing is that I have to keep the device fully stock due to work reasons.

So I have been trying to figure this out for a month now. My wife has been complaining that her S5 was draining the battery by the time she got home from work. This started happening after the latest update at the end of June. So I thought it was the update but my s5 has been fine with no problems. After uninstalling some apps and setting the location settings to power save it was still doing it. So I reset her phone and installed some of the standard apps she uses which are the same as I use so I knew those were now power causing the drain. Well it was still happening and her usage is not extremely high, it is pretty much the same every day. So two days ago we swap batteries and all of a sudden her phone is lasting all day and into the evening for the past two days. Now her is the kicker the night we switched batteries I noticed that my phone was using a lot of juice for not doing much and by the time it was time for bed my phone was beeping that it needed to be charged. So at this point I figure her battery was shot. So I charged up my phone that night and the next day I have not seen any serious drain, just normal battery life and it is lasting all day like last night it was at 45%.
I was going to try an experiment of putting her battery back in her phone and see what happens but I have not had the chance yet.
Anyone have any idea what the issue could have been? Seems unseating the battery and reseating it might have fixed the problem but it doesn't make sense of why.

So a lot of people and myself over on the Nexus 6P subreddit have been discussing about the possibility of some sort of battery drain with the arrival of the Feb patch. On any ROM/kernel combination (and even on stock at some point), my phone very easily reaches 4:45-5:00 of screen time throughout a day that is from 7am-10pm for me. Over the last month, it has progressively gotten worse, on some days reaching low levels with just 3:30 SoT. After using various ROMs, I decided to try out bone stock to see if I would get the same result (this was 3 days ago). And that has been the case... The phone barely reaches 4 hours of screen time.
Well you might suggest: "Disable services such as location and sync" or "What apps have you recently installed that could be causing drains?" And that's the thing. My usage patterns have not changed at all. I barely download new apps and always stick to using the same ones. Today my location was off for a very long time and I've still gotten the same battery. I've been keeping my eye on the awake bar on battery info, and the phone sleeps as it should, so I'm sure there aren't any rogue apps.
I am seeing this as well. I actually went back to stock to see if it was the ROM I was using. Seeing the same battery degradation on stock. Running MMB29Q with Feb security patch as you can see from screen shot. Wonder if Google is aware of this. Cannot be a coincidence.

Haven't noticed this at all, I'm getting the exact same battery performance as I always have.
I haven't noticed any extra battery drain either.
I definitely noticed this myself.
I did a factory reset and it seems to have helped, but I've only tested it for one day since.

I'm with you. Same battery as previous factory image.

I have bought this phone in the beginning of February and my battery experience is TERRIBLE. It drained 20% battery in 16h with 17 mins SOT. I'm extremely disappointed in this device. I tried Stock, chroma and Pure Nexus and even when 0 apps are installed my battery goes AWOL. Really this is a nightmare where I paid alot of money for this phone and it acts like a personal energy waste device.

1.2%/hr drain isn't great, but not bad either depending on reception/installed-apps/notification/etc
I'm running 6.0.1 feb patch. Get about 0.6%/hr screenoff drain, but I'm mostly on good wifi connection. If running around town on LTE i'd get some where around 1% screen off drain.
I've noticed that ever since the Feb security patch, the battery has drained a little faster than usual also, with no change in usage behavior.... Can someone please notify google about this?
I have not noticed anything different.
Running stock with ElementalX kernel.
I've been noticing the same thing. I used to be able to go for 4+hrs of screen on. Now, 3.5 is normal. I am on PureNexus, but I've not changed anything in the last month, after the update.
I bought the phone on 28th February. 30 minutes after arrive at home, flashed Cyanogen, and draining about 1% each minute with screen on.
Yesterday I flashed PureNexus and now reaches 3.5 hours with screen on. Way better, but still terrible.
I've noticed the same increased battery drain. I've been investigating the issue for weeks and didn't know what caused the issue until hitting this thread.
The February update introduced the SystemUpdateService wakelock on my 6P. It kept the phone awake 95% of the time and I couldn't get rid of it. I updated via fastboot with the factory images at the time. I flashed back to the January build and the wakelock disappeared. Flashed the February update again and SystemUpdateService wakelock came right back.
I didn't try a clean install with the February factory images to see if it would fix it. Maybe it would have, maybe not. I decided to give Pure Nexus a try after I couldn't fix it. I'm considering doing a clean install once the March update is released.

Same battery issues as described for me.
I am glad to see that I am not the only one having a problem all of a sudden. I am running stock, but was about to root and run a custom ROM after becoming frustrated with the suddenly increased battery drain. I used to drop only three or 4% overnight, but now it is about 20%, with Google App being a prime user of battery even without OK Google being activated. Doze does not seem to be working as it did before. I am going to try shutting off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth at night to see if that makes a difference, but it never seemed to matter before leaving those on. Also, I do not see a way to automatically turn off push mail service at night or on a specific schedule as I could do with previous phones.
I'm glad. I thought I was the only one experiencing this.

Interesting - I have noticed that the battery life has tanked on my 5X fairly recently (been using it for a few weeks - will try on the 6P next).
Presumed it was just a rogue app or something, although nothing seems to be causing excessive wake locks etc. It is hard to quantify though, so it could just be looking for a problem where there isn't one.
I'm doing a clean install on my Nexus 6P from the March security update factory images, should be able to see if the battery life I'm getting is similar to January as I have a fair idea of what percentage my phone was usually down to at the end of the day.
A clean install of 6.0.1 with Feb patch and only stock apps. It's been sitting on my bed since a full charge 5 days ago. Looks like the Feb patch is not having much of an impact on battery life.
I've been having battery issues with my S7 Edge for a while now and it's gradually becoming ridiculous. Despite carrying out a couple of resets and monitoring my usage, my battery life is appalling. It has now got to the point where I'll leave the house in the morning on 100% and within 4 hours, I'm already in my last 15% and that's just with some moderate internet and music usage. I'm having to do at least two full charges a day and then charge it again at night.
I have used GSAM and there is no particular app that is consuming a significant chunk of my battery usage, other precautions such as low screen brightness and closing apps have been taken but this is having little to no effect.
I'm not sure what else I can do so will try and get down to a Samsung repair shop to see what they suggest. When I had a similar issue with my iPhone once, Apple replaced it with a new handset as I was under warranty (as I am with my S7) - have I a fair chance of Samsung doing the same? I love this phone and have had it since launch but it's becoming a massive source of frustration.
I had a similar problems with battery drainage after the update for almost 2 weeks i tried everything and all research came to one conclusion wipe cash partition then factory reset and set the phone up as new no restoring or backups even the google one turn it off set every thing up manually when finished turn the google backup back on and use the phone as you would normally do. Don't be afraid if battery still drains just keep using it as normal and in 3 to 5 days after doze has learned your patterns the battery will be normal again, this is what worked for me your mileage may vary.
Now a days its major problem with smartphones. In mobile their are many types of apps which take more power for running. I suggest you use best app like 360 booster its control your apps and stop apps if its not using. and one more thing make your screen display light low to get long battery time.
after 1 year we need to buy other phone .. that are the rools of the companies
First time posting. Bought two new S7 Edge phones in late November. My wife can go a day or two or three without charging, similar use with hers. I am lucky to get maybe 6 hours ever since I bought it. I don't use it for gaming, I use social media, email, news, some music, take a lot of pics of the kids, Photoshop, reading, research, etc. My phone is my laptop replacement.
I installed CPU-Z a while back because my phone is often hot. Sensor readings often exceed 150° F with battery temps exceeding 105° (with very little activity).
I've tried charging with rapid charge disabled, decreased screen brightness & resolution, shut down background processes, did malware and virus scans, factory reset, etc. No change.
I do have many apps installed on my phone and I have moved as many as possible to the 64Gb micro sd. No difference. Looking for suggestions. Is this a defective phone? Should I be looking at a replacement? My Note 4, Note II, and Thunderbolt all had much better battery performance.
Your help is appreciated.
I can get like 10-11 hours, did you check "Battery" section to see what is draining her ?
Well I can get even 12h of sot so I don't know how can you get such low battery life. Also, if it heated up to 100° Celsius the battery is not healthy anymore, you should change it
There is absolutely no way that U can get 12 hours of SOT on official rom and with average usage. Don't confuse the OP.
About the problem,
Did U try factory resetting the phone? That should be the first thing to do when the battery is draining abnormally. Also. send us pics of battery usage.
Sorry for the late reply. Apparently I turned my notifications off.
Yes, I have done a factory reset twice in the past few months. I think I'm going to backup in the next week or so and do another one and this time try installing only a minimal set of apps for a few weeks and see how it goes.
Here is a screenshot of my current battery usage. I charged the phone twice today. It's actually doing ok at the moment, usually android system uses the most juice.
Also a shot of the current temps.
Thank you all again!
I flashed the leaked Android Oreo OTA to my Verizon Galaxy S8 and am experiencing pretty terrible battery life. I'm getting about 2 1/2 hours of SoT which I find bad for 2018. Meanwhile, my Verizon LG V30 with Nougat is getting 5+ hours of SoT which drives me crazy. Any tips to improve? Also, how's your battery life with Oreo on your S8?
I haven't taken the dive for the Oreo beta based ROMs but have been following the threads and the consensus is that at present Oreo is no better than N, it actually seems to be a little worse for most, hence I'll wait for a while still before jumping to O, give it more time for fine tuning on the S8 by developers etc. just my opinion, plus I get 6 odd hours of SoT on my N custom ROM so I have no urgency to go to O until its more polished.
Terrible, i updated mine couple of weeks ago and noticed about this battery issue, it drains fast despite of disabling the likes of location, reducing the brightness, bluetooth. i informed samsung about it. Before i used it outside with a (-3 temperature since i live in Finland), it was fully charged 100%. I only used it NOT more than 5 minutes for videoing and taking pictures and that's it, i stayed outside for more than an hour. When i checked my battery it was 56% ! I know that cold temperature diminishes the battery performance but not to extent of that emptying the battery in half:

After I updated to Oreo I had horrible battery life as well... It one time dropped about 20% when the phone was resting with the screen off in the couch.
I disabled everything bixby related. Force closed, uninstalled updates, and disabled in every way possible.
Now I get decent battery life. I live in Sweden, we have -4°c today, and the phone worked just fine even outside. No significant battery drop.

Is Android System percentage higher than normal? And what about screen on time on daily usage?

I haven't really measured it. But I got that fix update for the first CRAP update and I'm back to horrible battery life.
Hei,hello,hola,

you can try flash a custom kernel , are you using stock or custom rom ? which firmware?
I'm using the stock version. I'm not that tech expert to modify it although my phone is at developer version. Anything I can do more?
Thanks for your reply btw.
