EDIT: Better answer just above. That was the issue. But my answer below might help some people.
You have to install TWRP first and allow TWRP to write/modify your device. If you say no, you will never have root.
Some people install TWRP temporarily just to make a system backup image and do not want to modify/root their phone.
At some point TWRP will ask for right to modify your device's memory (or something like that). You have to say yes.

Hard, fast swipe to the right is yes. You do NOT want read only.
I'm only guessing this is your issue because it seems to fit what you are describing. If it's something else, sorry.

i did install TWRP, and i have root (at least root checker shows i do, and flashify asked for permissions and it was granted)

i uninstalled kingroot then flashed chainfire SU in TWRP

I guess it should be fastboot flash recovery filename.img to flash recovery. You dont want to install recovery to boot partition.

yes, you can flash xposed. CM and Resurrection Remix devs are working on adapting the scripts to let you flash those two ROMs for XT1254. Should be ready soon. This just all happened last night.
Keep checking these threads:

also @computerfreek274 is working on ROMs. He had said the Nexus Experience ROM would be the first he would post. Right now, this is the current version:
[Rom] NEXUS EXPERIENCE 9.8 [MotoMaxx]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-maxx/development/rom-nexus-experience-release-9-5-t3108708
But he will post the updated version in a thread in the Droid Turbo section.

You need custom kernel with built in recovery to use this method. For locked bootloaders, your method is useless as you will remove recovery during 2nd step. I would advise to bring down this topic as users with LB will end up with unrooted and unrootable 5.1.1 FW. You should use update via pre-rooted package instead.
For unlocked bootloader you just flash new ROM, boot custom kernel, install root.. Nothing new here
Just follow this guide. It works fine on Lollipop 5.1.1, I did it on my phone without problem, however, do a backup before you try it.

If you already have this, why not just use the PRF creator? Seems to me that method saves a couple of steps and it worked fine for me when upgrading to 5.02 and 5.1.1.
This method requires an unlocked boatloader. OP please mentioned that in your post

Lockin your bootloader does NOT restore TA partition. It just lockes the bootloader again without the DRM keys. Use TA backup to backup before unlocking. See the comment and picture above. The first three lines should say (ok)..... If u get unknown error... Its impossible to restore your drm keys.... Unless u backed it up.

Sony Bionz X image processing engine which helps to reduce the noise etc in your camera, noise cancelling, x reality super vivid image enhancement, PlayStation play etc. There are few threads around how to restore those lost DRM protected features but I'm not sure they are 100% working.
Have a look here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/xperia-z1-z2-z3-series-devices-drm-t2930672
Like the person above said locking your bootloader doesn't restore your DRM keys. It just sets your bootloader status to locked, which helps you to use official Sony update services such as Sony PC companion. Always remember to research before any modifications.

Honor 7 Marshmallow Root image [B330]

I've updated my device to B330 (of course), but I need root too. I didn't see a way to do this at the moment, so I've done a few bits to make it happen.
The process for rooting your device is as follows:
- Download my patched boot image - DOWNLOAD (ROMraid)
- Extract the zip file
- Reboot to bootloader ('adb reboot bootloader' or power on with cable connected and volume down pressed)
- Use fastboot to flash the patched boot image ('fastboot flash boot boot.policypatched.b330.img')
- Reboot device and push latest SuperSU zip (must be >2.50) to /sdcard
- Reboot to bootloader and flash TWRP
- Reboot device and start recovery ('adb reboot recovery')
- Flash the SuperSU zip
- Reboot (flash stock recovery image back if desired)
- Hey presto, you'll be rooted! Any questions, feel free to ask.
I will build this to a full automated 'superboot' (auto root) in due course, but this should get everyone going.
Note that you should not apply future OTAs after rooting without rolling back first (maybe grab a boot and /system backup before flashing the above).
Enjoy!

It gets to 28% and then says it can't root. I'm on b330, what firmware are you on?
Update: Ok, so it works on the PC but not via the app.
Update2: Ok guys, I DO NOT recommend using kingroot via PC when on firmware 330 as after a restart I can only boot into rescue mode. I'm wondering if I needed an unlocked bootloader first :/ After many attempts I managed to reinstall my firmware via sd card.

OTA update & root

Good morning/afternoon everyone! So this is my first dive into rooting and have successfully rooted my Nexus 6p. Today I received an OTA update and was wondering if it were safe to update with root, and if not, how to go about doing it if possible. I do not have any roms or anything else like that. Using the default way, you won't be able to update. During the OTA installation it will detect that device has system modifications, and will fail to install.
The best and most effective workaround for that is by manually flashing the OTA zip using FlashFire app (Search Google Play Store).
You can grab the OTA files from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/ref-nexus-6p-stock-ota-urls-t3213781

Yes, just re-flash the SuperSU zip. More information about this specific warning message is listed here by Chainfire himself.

...from now on flash incremental ota using FlashFire (no need to use adb)

Sorry, I just dragged the logic out of my answer. If you unroot, you will not be able to us FlashFire, since it works on the basis of root permissions.
The correct information is here: https://plus.google.com/+Chainfire/posts/Q7YYVPwv8Fx
The most common way to by-pass that warning message, is to just continue and flash the update. Make sure that you have taken a backup of your current setup.

Do we have full root with this method? I flash the superuser.zip in Nougat and I only have partial root even though the rootchecker confirms the phone is rooted.

I follow the procedure in post #1. However I cannot cut and paste in the system partition although I can use some apk that requires root and I can cut and pass in the data partition. Is there anything that you did differently than in post #1 to be able to cut and paste in the system partition?
First of all , let me thank you for this working method to root Mate 8 that runs Android 7 EMUI 5...
But is there any way else to flash the super su itself as before in EMUI 4 through TWRP

Yes we can flash - superuser-r275.zip in android 7 using twrp from http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/twrp-nougat-edition-t3504140
After that we can run Superuser 2.0 Beta 9.apk from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...11859473848826
However I only obtain partial root. I cannot cut and paste in the system partition however I can cut and paste in the data partition and run some apk like reboot manager that requires root.
When I follow the procedure suggested by post #1, I get the same result, only partial root.

I also get partial root, cannot install busybox, can this be fixed? any workaround for this issue?

Where can I find downloaded OTA zip in my mobile memory?

Ok, I have downloaded the Nougat OTA zip but not installed yet. I want to know the location of that downloaded Nougat OTA zip so that I can keep that zip in my computer, I am not rooted. Can I access that OTA zip without root access and also tell me the exact location of that OTA zip?

1. Download update
2. Don't install it immediately
3. Go and install adb fastboot drivers in your PC
4. Run following commands -
adb pull /data/data/com.motorola.ccc.ota/app_download/*
5. Just copy and paste in cmd
6. file will be created on given path where you open cmd

Thanks for your reply, BTW can we downgrade to MM without unlocking bootloader? I don't want to stuck to a version which I don't like. I am not sure if Nougat is as good as MM. I like MM very much, my battery backup is also fine.
Have you upgraded your device to Nougat if yes, how do you like it? Is it worth upgrading? I don't want to regret in the end.
look for moto g 4 plus .
nougat is major update as it will solve heating issues and others .
and i am sure you will be happy to upgrade to N.
you cant downgrade to MM without unlocked bootloader [emoji2] [emoji2] [emoji2]

Not getting you properly, I have to copy and paste this command in CMD window and run, but what do you mean by "File will be created on given path where you open cmd"?
You want to say the command would create the zip in adb/fastboot folder?
@jack_04, Not working brother, I have tried it says "remote object '/data/data/com.motorola.ccc.ota/app_download/*' does not exist",
have you installed moto drivers properly ??
which Windows you have
Sent from my Moto G4 Plus using Tapatalk
I have tried on XP SP3, I would try on Windows 7 Ultimate once I reach home.
All the drivers are properly installed, I did get the "Unlock data" means my adb drivers are installed properly.

You need to be rooted to do this. Else you wouldn't have access to the said folder

We hoped that you are aware that you can't touch the system partition without root.
BTW, this update is the same as the one from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/captured-ota-nougat-ota-moto-g4-plus-t3517059
i think thats because your bootloader is locked . so you can,t do this .
btw why you want this zip file ?
